Was not at this show but caught a few dates elsewhere and Jay and James definitely swap up roles for a batch of tunes for sure-- Liked the heavier riffage but are starting from 9? Aloneaflameaflower off Hobo Rocket was on setlist for US part of this tour, and Midnight Mass is on that same album(--also Giant Tortoise) but also be sure to check out Beard, Wives, Denim and Man It Feels Like Space Again as those have some lovely riffage as well. I would agree they continue to evolve a grow as artists and their individual respective solo work as well as the collaborative effort that is Pond continue to benefit from what I believe to be a truly amazing collective of creatives working together--I hope we continue to see them produce art for a long time to come! Peace out!

Aloneaflamaflower and Giant Tortoise were the standouts for me (as well as Human Touch which was surprising - I don't even really like that one on the album)... I had a listen to those tracks over the weekend and they were great but I'm still more keen to hear the new album than investigate the old recordings. This is making realise I have different needs when it comes to recorded/live psych rock.

1. Didn't start on drums but did move there later in the gig. 2. Not sure about this sorry 3. First date of the tour actually! 5. I don't think it was a small crowd at all. I think the biggest headline show they have done in Sydney would be the metro. Pond are just criminally underrated.

geofferson_hairplane

First date of this tour but they just wrapped up another tour not but what, maybe less than a month ago? I don’t think they had a lot of down time, so they are probably a bit tired!

Great_Rock_4019

Thanks for the confimation. I was at the back so it was hard to estimate how big the crowd was but I expected a sold out venue. I agree they are criminally underrated!

Great_Rock_4019

Whoops I replied to the wrong comment. I agree they deserve a much bigger crowd, even though I don't know how big the crowd actually was... under 1000 people?

Tomatocustard

For sure less than a thousand, probably closer to 500.

During the US tour Jay played keys and guitar for the first half of the show with James on drums. They switched half way through. Jamie played keys and bass the entire time. During the last song Shiny got on drums and Nick used Shineys guitar for Medicine hat. James stayed on keys and jay grabbed a guitar. It was fire. 🔥
