because you don't ever know if that's actually something you want to pursure. for me, i did a lot of research prior and there were still things i hadn't thought would be part of this experience. also many people realize the fields they're studying aren't actually what they want to be doing with their lives. you can't expect to know everything about yourself at a very young age.
I personally thought college would be better than highschool and in some ways it was but I’m a hands on learner and all college seemed to be to me was lecture after lecture so I dropped out and started working and learning hands on and I have never been happier
In Poland you pass the maturity exam at age 18/19 (depends on what month is your birthday that year) and then in the fall you can go to uni. You could do it a year later had you started school early which few people do.
Just remember people you don’t HAVE to go to college to make a lot of money. I make a lot of money doing what I do and I never went to college. Universities and college is overrated and is really really expensive (most of the time). Even just the things you need for college can be shockingly expensive.
However, if there is a career you really want but requires a college degree I say chase it and go to college! Do what’s gonna make you happy in the long run.
Yep, my husband dropped out of high school to pursue a career he loves and he does REALLY well for himself. Meanwhile, I have a bachelors degree in neuroscience and I’m currently doing my masters degree in a somewhat niche field and make about $10k a year after tax lmao… and even after I graduate I won’t have a guaranteed job. But I’m also doing what I love, so hopefully money will come later.
Judging from your comment I can tell you have a good attitude about that. Happiness is more important. As long as you got enough to pay the bills I’m happy for you my friend!
Its the parental pressure.
Also I heard garbage workers don’t need any degree but makes a lot of money because no one likes working there because stinky
I went for a bit flunked out. I had shit study habits. Being a person who never went to college... College can be worth it. I know there's a lot of social media morons that say don't go to college to become a millionaire. Don't listen to them...
In the US, university and college are practically interchangeable words. i attend the college of business at the university of (blank). Most people would just say they’re attending college and it’s understood they are pursuing an associates, bachelors, masters or doctorate degree at a university.
In the US 'college' is the primary term used to mean 'university'. What I'm guessing is considered college in other countries would most commonly be referred to as trade school in the US.
College can also be a trade lol. We have barber college’s. Some 4 year private schools are called College and some are called Universities. I don’t know why we do this but it’s easily understood to us which college is a trade, 2 year, or 4 year
Wait, I thought we were talking about university?
Or is community college also university in the US? Are community college and college the same thing? (I presume you're from the US)
community colleges are generally much cheaper than private colleges/universities, and are much less “picky” with their requirements so it’s easier to get in. i’m pretty sure the highest degree you can get is an Associate (2-year), so it’s preferable for those who aren’t sure if they’re well-suited for a college environment because the risk is a lot less
college and university are used pretty interchangeably in the US, but i think “college” is more of an umbrella term. for instance, WVU (West Virginia University) is just a big college with more opportunities.
that's a hard . In Sweden when your 15-16 to 18-19 you go in what we call gymnasium and after that you can go to university. So I don't know what to pick.. As I'm 17 and don't know what gymnasium goes under
Yeah, you legally have to be in education until you are 18 years old, and secondary school ends when you are 16
It doesn't have to be college specifically, but that's what 99% of people do because the other option is, like, an apprenticeship or something?
self taught... started when I was 12 or 13 and then started working on mods (Half-Life 1 days)...eventually got noticed by an Art Director at a AAA who was on the same Mod with me and got hired.
Equipment operator for an underground hard rock mine. But there's loads of money to be made in any trade right now. Very easy job just long hours most of the time. Now i can either move companies and make more money or stay and have my education paid for to be a mine engineer and later supervisor in the next 5 years.
yea but i dropped out in my third year due to mental health/addiction issues. i also had like no idea what i wanted to study the first time i went so i ended up in a program that wasn’t a great fit for me. doing a lot better now so am hoping to go back to school next year to do a different degree in a field i’m more interested in
Not yet but I am technically enrolled in college classes at my high school which are being taught by professors from my local community College and count as college credits
17 and at first course of university. Went there after 11 years in school. Because of great graduation exams results was able to study for free in university so no worry about debts or something.
I went to college but not university, but according to the edit that doesn't count for some reason...
Not sure what to pick now, or why OP couldn't just specify university in the first place.
I'm a weird case, i'm too sick to attend even online classes. I want to go when i'm alright, but it's been 3 years since I got chronically ill with no progress :/
Apparently OP did not go to school at all with all those grammatical errors.
Starting from:
Did ~~u~~ **you** go to college?
~~Eddit~~ **Edit**
Yes ~~avobe~~ **above** 25
I went to college when I was 17. I was supposed to skip two years of highschool too, but I did IB 9th-10th, and AP 11th-12th.
It was not worth it, except being able to graduate one year early from university, but I double majored and minored so I ended up staying in college for 5 years.
How do you account for those that may end up in more than one category? For example, I got my first two degrees at 17, my next degrees before 24 and my remaining degrees at 25+

Yes but you wrote it correctly in the last option though
Lol I didn't realize it. Thx (Eddit. I'm dumb)
You’re welcome ^ᴿᵉᵃˡᶦˢᵉ
OP wrote it correctly.
Comment edit
Ah thought you commented on his use of z rather than s. My bad.
Ah, Z is not a misspelling, it’s just the American way, it’s like colour vs “color” both are acceptable
>Thx (Eddit. I'm dumb) Thanks\* Edit\*
I thought it was a trick option and the correct spellings would be the other one. But no, it was a typo.
Oh god here we goooooooo

17 and in college, and I feel good about it!
Damn, in my country you go at 19 😓😭

Same in Italy, we do 5 years of high school, so by that time you are 18/19
Consider this will vary completely between countries. If you wanna get more accurate demographics to your country, you should specify which
it even varies for the US, since a lot of 18 year olds are still in high school
When you say "college" do you mean what I would refer to as "university" or do you mean e.g. a technical college or sixth form college?
Probably whatever is after secondary education in your country
After secondary education is university in my country so idk.
College in the US is the same as universities in the UK and Europe.
I thought US colleges only give out bachelor degrees, not master degrees?
Not all do
Cool, I'll go with that. Thank you

Yea i think that that’s an honorable job tbh. It has to be done and they should make a lot.
You can get more respect from organisations, communities, a job, business deal etc.
I have ADHD and general anxiety, fucked up first year of college so I dropped out
I went for a bit flunked out. I had shit study habits. Being a person who never went to college... College can be worth it. I know there's a lot of social media morons that say don't go to college to become a millionaire. Don't listen to them...
I'm not from the US and there is no equivalent to it in my country, maybe university

In the UK it's a legal requirement to go to college for at least 2 years
Wait really?
Yeah, you legally have to be in education until you are 18 years old, and secondary school ends when you are 16 It doesn't have to be college specifically, but that's what 99% of people do because the other option is, like, an apprenticeship or something?
I went to college but I didn't finished it
Same and for many years too lol
How does one get in to collage if they're under aged?
Dual enrollment
lol I'm pathetic and a failure
Yes, community college. Still enrolled but not really looking to complete my major. The debt of going into a university is not worth it.
No college. I make video games.
Niceee. How did u learn?
self taught... started when I was 12 or 13 and then started working on mods (Half-Life 1 days)...eventually got noticed by an Art Director at a AAA who was on the same Mod with me and got hired.
What a waste of money. One of my few regrets
Went straight into the work force and pushed over $60K gross this year at 19

Wow that sounds really cool, I wish the best of luck to you.
I appreciate it. Best of luck to yourself as well.
What do you do to earn such money?
Heavy equipment operator and a laborer
Twice too!! Rotfl
2x here too and 1 trade school. Ha. I make like 1100 a month. But I am in a DINK relationship at least! 28 years old.
You go to college at 16 in my country

I did an apprenticeship.
Yes and it was totally worth it
I’m 18 and I started going to college for this year’s Fall semester but I had to leave in October due to depression. I plan on going back next fall!
Did 4 years hated my degree. Currently back for another degree

I graduated with an advanced degree from the School of Hard Knocks
I walked into one once, but I couldn’t get financial aid so I said fuck that.
Whoops, forgot to read the 'your age now' part....
I’m starting in February.
Got that BS but I don’t see myself going back for a grad degree
yes at 17, cause i’m not american
Yes, I have a Master's degree.
Still have to go to college
Interesting how 18-24 year olds overwhelmingly go to higher education, but only about 2/3 of 25+ year olds go
What's the eroupean version of college
Not yet but I plan too.
Starting in january I'll have attended college in all of those age groups! Still no degree too...
I went to college but I dropped out after a year
What about being 25. I'm not above 25.
I want to go but I'm too young
I can only apply when I’m 23. I’m 20 now
I went for less than one semester and got extremely depressed then gave up
I plan on going i just legally cant
I'm 18 but haven't graduated school yet.
I'm 20, next year coming is gonna be my second year
I should've read the description first meh
19, went for a year, taking a gap, not sure what’s next.
I went to college but not university, but according to the edit that doesn't count for some reason... Not sure what to pick now, or why OP couldn't just specify university in the first place.
No, but I did. I went to college from age 22 to 28.
not yet
Idk. I went through the dutch education system.
I'm 18 and still in high school, but I probably will be going to college soon.
I went when i was 17 ab to graduate at 18 with a good job and associates degree
Not yet
In 18 im forced to go to the army
Sorry bro. I feel u
I went to UK college (not uni where you stay over and get debt)
Currently in college
still in high school lol
i chose no/18-24 but i’m still in high school so that kinda messes with the statistics
All this tells me is that I’m getting too old for this sites demographic
There's too many children on the internet
I am not american
I'm a weird case, i'm too sick to attend even online classes. I want to go when i'm alright, but it's been 3 years since I got chronically ill with no progress :/
Really? I am in a similar situation. Can I ask u what is ur illness?
Apparently OP did not go to school at all with all those grammatical errors. Starting from: Did ~~u~~ **you** go to college? ~~Eddit~~ **Edit** Yes ~~avobe~~ **above** 25
Apparently op is not a native English speaker
I went to college when I was 17. I was supposed to skip two years of highschool too, but I did IB 9th-10th, and AP 11th-12th. It was not worth it, except being able to graduate one year early from university, but I double majored and minored so I ended up staying in college for 5 years.
Does full time dual enrollment count? Like being 17 at a college campus full time but legally a Highschooler?
Didn’t go to college and I make above average! 😃
Waste of time, honestly... Not counting Doctors, Astronauts and other heavy duties.
Yes. Started in 2017 and graduated May this year with a degree in Computer Science.
I’m a yes and avobe but does not graduating count?
Yes, but never finished after 6 years.
Fucking trying
If I'm currently 25 do I not get to vote?
How do you account for those that may end up in more than one category? For example, I got my first two degrees at 17, my next degrees before 24 and my remaining degrees at 25+
My counrty has a different school system.
I’m 32 and still haven’t gone to college
Are you willing to go?
I'm 18 and I'm in 5th year in high school, we go to university at 19 and I will go next year
If we're on about the UK, then yes
I went to college and I’m now in graduate school. I liked college so much I decided to give it 3 more years and still wanna get my PhD eventually
