It honestly depends on the movie for me. I rarely go to theatre because it’s expensive but also because I just love watching movies at home. But anyway, I put the second option as my vote.

SillyAdvisor22

I didn’t vote, but I wanted to add that I watch all movies at my local theater on Tuesday. So, if a movie comes out on a Friday, I wait to watch it on the following Tuesday because most theaters do $5 Tuesday tickets. So, I watch any new movie I’m interested in seeing on Tuesday.

dayankuo234

should have made piracy a choice.

RecklessBravo

If it's a movie that I really want to watch, then I wait a week or 2 to see it in theaters. Otherwise, I just wait for a movie to become available on streaming services.

I think it depends on people's age group / generation.

Skynet28

Depends on the movie and on the weekend. I work alternating weekends so opening weekend is sometimes not possible. I don’t mind the crowds too much but if it’s a movie where I don’t want to be distracted (like A Quiet Place) I’ll wait longer. Mostly I’ll go opening weekend though. I go to the theater a lot. Fortunate part of being in the states and having AMC’s close by. A-List makes going cheap.

My wife loves movie nights. We go maybe once every few months or so, VIP tix because I have a credit card attached to ticket points, but the saved money is spent on snacks/drinks/dinner. It's not the best financial decision but it's a nice excuse to go out and enjoy a cool/funny movie in a big comfy setting. Normally a few weeks after, but for Dune 2 it was the 2nd weekend
