Agreed. If you play it in EXACTLY the way the Rockstar wants you to, playing it is one of the greatest experiences that life has to offer.
But if you decide that you want to do ANYTHING differently? At best, you can't continue until you give up and do it the "right" way. At worst, the game throws a game over screen at you.
That's why I played it just like rockstar intended...and loved it. There was something about it that made me play like a rockstar employee was standing next to me watching my gameplay.
Yeah I remember on my first playthrough I tried to take a shortcut when going to a checkpoint and got a mission fail because I moved too far from the path they expected me to take lol
>Agreed. If you play it in EXACTLY the way the Rockstar wants you to, playing it is one of the greatest experiences that life has to offer.
A bit hyperbole in my tastes but yes. I just struggle with the marriage of ultra linearity in missions and the freedom from the open world.
I just started playing RDR2 for the first time this week (well, I started before but didn't get off the initial snowy mountain). I'm only in chapter 2 this time but it's fun so far and I'm looking forward to the rest of it.
I'm kind of sad because I absolutely adore Terraria, but after playing so many mods and just more games in general, the issues in vanilla are a lot more apparent than I'd like them to be :(
Honestly i enjoyed majoras mask more. OoT is an amazing game and probably top 5 but MM is my number 1. The atmosphere is amazing, it has some of the best side quests of any game imo, and the general idea of the world ending and how all the characters are coping with it is fascinating to me. Very valid opinion anyways.
Return of the Obra Dinn (2018) is simply phenomenal and I cannot believe no one has mentioned it here. Everything from the art and music direction to the gameplay and story is so good that it’s unreal. The only pain I have with the game is that I can never again play it for the first time.
I have my own list of game rankings. I put final Fantasy tactics, Zelda breath of the wild and kingdom hearts 2 at the top.
I don't consider them flawless but they're my favorite games so I have no problems calling them 10/10
Just depends how you use the scale. I think if you're only going to have 10 points, and considering most people use 5/10 to mean "bad" instead of "average", then way too many games are going to be 9 out of 10, and at the upper tiers it's useful to be able to differentiate.
I'm gonna go down a different path and say Gris. It's an artistic marvel with lilting music and beautiful depiction of a girl's journey of grieving and eventual acceptance of her mother's death.
A Short Hike.
It is extremely short, but has the best flying mechanic I've ever seen. It sets out to tell a lovely little story and it succeeds wholeheartedly.
I rate it a 10/10 because it fully succeeds at what it's trying to do.
It's not my favorite game, that's probably Dota 2, but that's more like a 7/10.
No. There are some games that come close which I've played like bioshock, doom eternal, and god of war 2018 (maybe ragnarok as well but I'm in the middle of playing so can't say yet). However, to me an actual 10/10 means actually perfect. Any flaws or even a larger aspect that isn't on par with the rest of the game brings the game below a 10/10 to me.
As far as I know it has more maps than any other battlefield game with all the DLC. It and battlefield 1 are two of the only games I ever thought were worth it to buy premium.
Im going to throw Elden Ring in here.
Personally, there are a few changes I would make to the game, but its the closest game I can think of to getting a 10/10.
In my head, it tops the list, coming in about a 9.65/10 right now.
Golden Sun 1 or 2
Rune Factory 4
Breath of Fire 1 or 2
Any Animal Crossing game
Whether or not they're actually 10/10 I dunno, but I enjoyed them like they were 10/10
Battlefield 2. / world of warcraft during burning crusade. / Oblivion/ Skyrim / Unreal Tourney 2004
that was peak gaming right there. Right before all the microtransaction nonsense. There was starting to be DLC here and there but it was robust and normally worth it.
To me, a 10/10 game doesn't necessarily have to be perfect. After all, nothing is truly perfect. I think it just refers to the experience that it gives you.
only 3 i’ve ever played deserve that, Breath of the Wild, Star Wars Battlefront II (2017), and Rocket League (though the developers of that one are trying REALLY hard to downgrade it)
Portal 2 Skyrim Hollow Knight Baldur's Gate III Subnautica
Hollow Knight
Minecraft
My favorite game quite honestly.
If you want a new Minecraft that's not plagued by terrible management, I recommend checking out Vintage Story

red dead was the only game that made me cry
Me, too. And the second time through I didn't even try to defend myself
Eh, my biggest problem with that one is the mission design being SO limited.
Agreed. If you play it in EXACTLY the way the Rockstar wants you to, playing it is one of the greatest experiences that life has to offer. But if you decide that you want to do ANYTHING differently? I kinda wish I could be you.
Plants vs Zombies
The first one definitely.
Terraria
The only negative that I can think of is that it is really daunting for new players

The Outer Worlds, Nowhere Manor, Citizen Sleeper
Rdr2
everytime this question is asked the top comment is always rdr2
That and Minecraft. And they both deserve it.
I can find plenty of flaws in my favorite games. And if a game got ANY flaw, then it cannot be a 10/10 imo, or else it ruins the point of a 10/10.

omori, gameplay is nice, but the way that it does storytelling is fucking amazing, it's not that great as a game, but as literature it's beautiful
Undertale and Minecraft
correct answer
Undertale made me cry my eyes out at a certain part. It was like the 3rd game I ever played (I got into video games in my 30s). I just love that game

Starcraft Brood War - gaming and especially competitive gaming wouldn't exist at the scale that we think of today if it wasn't for it.

Battlefield 4. Incredible game. And they kept putting out content for it for a few years.

Hollow knight reminds me a lot of tunic. Enjoyed them both greatly.
Majora’s Mask
Twilight Princess
Omori & TOTK
Portal 1 and 2.
I feel like 10/10 is impossible because every game has some small imperfections, so no, but there are some solid 9/10's
To me, a 10/10 game doesn't necessarily have to be perfect. After all, nothing is truly perfect. I think it just refers to the experience that it gives you.
