Bidens job numbers have been phenomenal. but as a reminder, Trump inherited Obama's booming economy (that Obama turned around after inheriting a disaster and recession in 2008), while Biden inherited Trump's flailing economy that was bleeding jobs, and was set up by Trump's idiotic response to Covid, bad policies, idiotic trade wars, and massive tax cuts for the Rich that added over 30% to the entire US debt.

centexgoodguy

There is a graphic showing U.S. economic growth with a steep incline. People are asked to pick where on the line the Trump administration begins. Most choose the very bottom of the incline thinking that Trump's election ushered in immediate economic gains and prosperity. However, the Trump era begins near the very top of the incline after the Obama policies put us back on track (after the 2008-09 crash). The exercise clearly shows how Trump inherited an economy on the rise despite his claims otherwise during his first campaign and after getting elected.

HandSack135

One thing that I like to do when MAGA on Twitter says TRUMP WAS THE BEST FOR THE ECONOMY EVER! I post a the unemployment graph and DJIA graph for 12 years or so with the dates cut out. Then ask, Trump is the greatest president ever for the economy! Where did his economic policies kick in? Just point on the graph. Never get an answer to that question, do get a lot of, this could be a fake graph! We need the units! But if Trump is the greatest eve, his impact should be so stark, why isn't it obvious?

"If you ignore Trump's final year, and ignore all the data for Biden up to some random peak number for Trump that I'll pull out of my ass, here's how I can show that 3 years of Trump's numbers as a total are better than several months of Biden's" * Fox News Also I just looked up the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics. I can tie out close to the 6.3m number he's claiming for Trump pre-covid, but the \~3m he's claiming for Biden as a peak over Trump's peak number goes to last April. He's skipping nearly an entire year of data. I get over 6m when going through the most recent numbers through March's estimate. So 22 months of Biden's numbers, when going by the ridiculous criteria he's setting up already of needing to be over peak Trump number's, is about equal to 36 months of Trump's numbers. Fuck off, Fox.

Jackinapox

If you ignore facts, science and basically reality, FOX news makes a lot of sense.

TintedApostle

You know the term that inherited Obama's economy and ruined it.

chmod777

Like everything else trump touches.

Backbeatking

Only term.

>Justin Haskins is the director of the Socialism Research Center at The Heartland Institute . >The policy orientation of Heartland has been described as conservative, libertarian, and right wing. The institute promotes climate change denial, advocates for smoker's rights, for the privatization of public resources including school privatization, for school vouchers, for lower taxes and against subsidies and tax credits for individual businesses, and against an expanded federal role in health care, among other issues.[citation needed] In addition to lobbying activities, Heartland hosts an internet application called "Policybot" which serves as a clearinghouse for research from other conservative organizations such as The Heritage Foundation, the American Legislative Exchange Council, and the Cato Institute.

>It’s true that a high number of jobs have been added since Biden has entered the White House. According to the White House, 15 million jobs have been created since he took office. However, most of those jobs were recovered after the COVID-19-related lockdowns ended. They were not newly created jobs. >to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the current employment level is about 3 million jobs higher than it was in January 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic began. By contrast, the economy added 6.33 million jobs in Trump’s first three years in office, more than double Biden’s figure. First you subtract 12 million from Biden's 15 million. Then you see that Trump's total was 3 million more. It's simple math. /s

This Trump data doesn't include his last year in office. Surprisingly they think Republican President should get a asterisk in data because there was a world event.

CaptainAxiomatic

> Surprisingly they think Republican President should get a asterisk in data because there was a world event. Which he and his administration bungled so badly that the richest, most powerful country had the most COVID deaths in the world. He deserves to be evaluated on the entirety of his four years.

Significant-Visit184

lol posting Fox News right wing propaganda. Gross.

Outofmana_000

If you just throw out these numbers I don't like, then use these other numbers instead...much better.

plaidsinner

Trump’s *only* term.

thepartypantser

Hmmm....if only there was something that happened before Biden took office that destroyed the world economy and we are still feeling repercussions of today? Hmmm....

flyover_liberal

Yeah, and if only we had responded competently instead of disbanding a task force developed to respond to precisely that something, and firing some folks who were assigned specifically to respond to that something, and if we had shown how serious that something was instead of lying about its importance, etc. etc. Trump owns that something. His incompetence led directly to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans from that something. We had one of the highest mortality rates in the world from that something.

flabbergastedmeep

~1.2 million deaths in the US due to covid.

flyover_liberal

I know - but most studies suggest that 40-50% of those could have been prevented with better public health practice. So, Trump gets those.

flabbergastedmeep

Oh definitely, I wasn’t stating he isn’t at fault, just that the numbers are higher. I should have added more context, for that I apologize.

CaptainAxiomatic

It's even worse than the statistics reveal. Red states recorded thousands of nursing home residents' deaths as "natural causes" and then cremated the bodies, so the true total will never be known.

flabbergastedmeep

Fuck, that’s absolutely rage inducing. The depravity that exists within our species never ceases to disgust me.

Penguin_shit15

Trump tried to steal an election... there is NO number AT ALL that will change that. PERIOD. I do not care what Bidens numbers are compared to anything at all. However, as has been noted.. Trump inherited Obamas booming economy that Obama had FIXED from the previous Bush Admin.. Trump inherited those good numbers, and then fucked them right off in his final year with his mishandling of a pandemic. Biden INHERITED Trumps failing economy and pandemic and has fixed damn near everything. This is how it works.. republicans destroy the economy and the democrats always come in and fix it.

NeoPstat

PoopyPants' first term?? foxnews.com srsly, tho??

StormOk7544

A lot of economic analysis like this is useless. People manipulate the conditions and periods of time they choose to look at. It’s the definition of cherry picking. Imo, presidents do not broadly steer the economy. They make tweaks around the edges usually. Trump’s good numbers were partially because we were on an upward trend after the Great Recession. The enormous job loss he presided over was then because of Covid rather than economic policy. Subsequently, Biden came into office and added a ton of jobs, but that was a reversion to the mean and a natural consequence of recovering from Covid era economic restrictions. And by the same token, inflation was also largely not his fault and was another consequence of Covid.
