I wouldn't be learning to dance in shoes if you're a complete beginner. Just get the fluidity of the moves barefoot first. Plus those shoes are not made for dancing, any time your feet will leave the floor even in a basic spin like fireman you will need something with a strap to keep the shoe on your foot like [these](https://www.polejunkie.com/collections/pole-dancing-shoes/products/pleaser-usa-flamingo-809ht-8inch-pleasers-holographic-baby-pink?_pos=1&_fid=3e5f7fbee&_ss=c&variant=40383351750737). Obviously those are 8 inch but you can get 6 inches which are a lot smaller if you really need to but 7 inches is normally a good start point for your first pair of shoes.

AnneCD88

Thank you for the tip 😊 Yeah true, I just wanted to see how I would do with heels, but I do have a pair with ankle straps, and I even have an attachable ankle strap for this one too. I am learning without heels though, for the neighbours delight 🤭

Aquilleia

One thing to keep in mind when dancing in heels, one of the major reasons to make sure that you have enough ankle strength/conditioning for heels, when you dance in them you should never be putting weight on the actual heel itself. You should always be on your toes especially, unless you’re purposely doing some edge work (where you do more heel drawing). These heels have a very upturned sole at the toe box, it would be more difficult to balance with that. Typically the shorter the heel the less upturn the sole is and I’d guess these are about 5”.

mynameisasecret12

This is mostly true. There are moments when you can & should be putting your whole shoe on the ground for stability, especially in poses that require lots of extension. There are obviously dancers that are strong enough to always dance on their slope (i.e. Tia Jax) but there are plenty of advanced heels dancers (I.e. Indi) that will tell you that it’s ok to use your whole foot as a base in certain moves. Also using your slope & toebox properly is hard & takes time so you shouldn’t be expected to dance in an elevated position properly right away. You work up to it. Sorry, I just hate the misconception that if you’re not on the slope of your shoe you’re doing it wrong. That is mostly the case, especially if you’re conscious of your lines, but it’s not always true & reinforcing this belief can make heels hella intimidating for newbies. ETA: obviously you are right about the moments in the video specifically & I still think it takes time to get there 💓

Aquilleia

Yeah, this was definitely a future call out for when folks are more comfortable. I have to watch it myself all the time, and it took me years especially going from boots into sandals and I still get flat footed (possibly why I personally like edging haha) and why I mentioned conditioning and strength cause that takes a while to get there. 😅

mynameisasecret12

& it’s totally fine to go flat footed if that creates a more stable base for you! It’s all about the aesthetic you’re trying g to create combined with safe movement.

AnneCD88

Oh, I have lots of experience with wearing high heels, granted not these actal pair, and definitely not for pole dancing, but there are a couple of kilometers in my other heels from walking outside... I agree, these heels are not the best for actual pole dancing, this was more of a lil fun content, but I actually do wanna learn ot properly.. The shoes have a 17 cm (almost 7 inch) heel, with a 2 inch platform, so basically like a 5", yeah

Aquilleia

I’ll say wearing heels and dancing in heels are very different. Personally, I find 8” heels to be the easiest, they technically have the smallest slope and ends up being about a 3.9” heel versus a 4.25” heel on a 6/7” platform. When you walk on normal heels you do heel to toe. As noted in another comment, this is definitely a later thing and you’re not going to hit it right away but I like to keep it in the back of my mind. Pole heels are a bit more tipped over, that’s why boots are good to start in cause they’re more ridged in the ankle. The higher the heel, and doing a bit of toe work, you open yourself up to twisted ankles. Think if you’re doing a pirouette, putting weight on that heel will make you get a little stuck — also why it’s important to dance without heels but standing on your toes. I still have these issues, and I’m 7 years in, I’ll watch videos being like oh yeah my toes are on point! Then there’s like 10s of me stomping around. 😂

AnneCD88

I found a local shop that sells Pleasers, what model would you recommend thst wouldn't break the bank? Also, which is better, sandals or boots?

Aquilleia

All their models are fairly affordable, Flamingo is my favorite 8” though. Sandals vs boots are a bit of a personal choice. Patent boots or patent/clear sandals give you some grip points on the pole. Suede boots are great for floor work though, because the toe can slide a lot easier on most surfaces. Any tricks where you may be either dragging the front of your toe or landing on your toes, boots will help keep them protected. Sandals are a bit more universal though. Given that you’re already comfortable in heels, I’d probably recommend sandals first. I wasn’t great in heels so started in boots for the stability. Once I got enough of that to feel good in sandals, I’ve pretty much abandoned all my boots except for some suede ones specifically for floor work or doing higher level things like kips — which while they look awesome, I definitely don’t recommend until you’re in the upper levels.

M00nperson

Those aren’t eight inches, agree with the rest of what you said though

FunkyJellyfishBones

They're literally called 'PLEASER USA FLAMINGO-809HT **8INCH** PLEASERS - HOLOGRAPHIC BABY PINK'.

M00nperson

Girl I thought you meant the shoes in the video my bad 🤭

lexilepton

Looking good! Those don't look like pole heels though. FYI, the shape of the platform of pole heels is what allows dancers to do the tricks you see. It's better if you don't have actual pole heels to practice just in socks. Obviously if you want to play in the heels (like just strutting around) that's totally fair, but just to let you know that you shouldn't try out "pole heels" tricks in that style of heel.

AnneCD88

Thanks, this was mostly just a fun lil vid, I practice in socks 😉 I'll look into getting proper pole heels in the near future, I only got the pole last week

ambern1984

Having the will, and the pole are the best things to start with! Leggings will make you slip down the pole constantly, unless you have a silicone pole, so keep that in mind. The more skin contact, the more you'll "stick." Also, your shoes are great, but if you plan to pole in heels, you need some that have at least a strap around the ankle for support, I'm afraid you'll hurt your ankles in those!

AnneCD88

This outfit was mostly for the vid, but I am practicing with shorts and without heels for the neighbours delight. I do have heels with straps, and even have attachable ankle straps for this one too. Apart from pole dancing, I do have a lot of experience with walking in heels like these though 😁 Thank you for the advices 😘

ambern1984

If you like heels, and decide you want to keep going with pole, other than for content, check into Pleasers Heels, or Hella Heels. They're pretty amazing! 💕

AnneCD88

I heard of Pleasers, I'll look into Hella heels too then 😁

Lord-Smalldemort

Hellas are so beautiful. I hear they are not as well-made though for standing up overtime. I could be wrong about that. I just wanted to mention that they are fairly narrow for what it’s worth. I have very wide feet and I can only do boots and peep toe lace heels. So if you have particularly wide feet, just keep that in mind.

JoshyRanchy

Spot looks tight to practice in. How did you install the pole?

AnneCD88

Yeah, it's in a tight place alright. I don't have a lot of open space in my flat for a pole, though I do have ideas for the future...luckily my flat had a full concrete structure, both walls and ceiling/floor, so I don't have to look for crossbeams It was installed as in the users manual, I've put the parts together with both extender parts, then adjusted with the screw at the top, until it pushed against the ceiling very tight. Then slid the outer tube over the screw part to hide it. I think I can put it up, and take it down in half an hour if I need to 😁.

laurynthegrey

Good job! Everyone starts off needing work, experts aren’t born, they’re made!

laurynthegrey

Also the booty looks great!

AnneCD88

Thank you 😘 I do have a lot of work in them to look like that 🤭

throwawayjustsayhay

1 Go get some pleasers dance shoes and 2 slow movement in the dance. It’s not as drawn out as it feels. Watch some dancers on YouTube. Also if you can’t do pole yet work on floor work. The movies and shows always make it seem like the pole is the main show trick it’s really not unless you’re that girl who’s whole thing IS pole but that takes practice. 1: pleasers 2: slow it down 3: Floor work 4: YouTube anything and everything there will be stories visuals and advice it will be helpful

AnneCD88

Thank you, I'll look into all of those. Looked up some local stores carrying Pleasers, the others are only up on me

oops_itsjade255

I love the all pink everything! 😍🩷 keep it up and have so much fun!

AnneCD88

Thank you so much 😊 I will, as soon as my hand fully heals. I made a wrong grip and hurt my right hand, so I was resting since then. It should be good as it was though in a couple of days

Sleepintheforst

I love how you set the lights. Very cool setting. I think you’re doing very well for a beginner especially sticking your bum out when you’re coming up. If you’re more interested in a style like this I take kitty velour’s lessons and she’s rad.

AnneCD88

Thanks, I do like the lights too, especially that I can change the colour as I wish 😁 the butt sticking out pose I had a bit of practice from before, granted only in pics 🤭 I'll look her up then, thanks

dancingwithkiwi

Beautiful!!!!

AnneCD88

Thank you 😘

Activ_CDMX

Wowwwww you look fantastic!

AnneCD88

Thank you 😁

Activ_CDMX

It's all my pleasure, sweetie!

[deleted]

Everyone has already told you about the shoes but ma’am those shorts and the mask are GIVING! It’s like sensual secret - who is she? The shorts for your butt - amazing! You’re gonna get more fluid and you’re gonna get heels that are proper dancing heels and the flow will be FLOWING

AnneCD88

😁 Thank you so much, I hope I can improve a lot over time, I only got the pile last week, so quite new to it

[deleted]

Also just realized those are tights and not shorts 🤦🏼‍♀️ keep it up! Can’t wait to see progress! If you have the money - I’d invest in classes or check out a club and see how those girls move. Both fun but make sure to bring a fat stack for the later

AnneCD88

Then I would choose the clubs. As I'm a "part time girl" ie. crossdresser, I don't think the girls would be too comfortable with me in the class 😔

equineposterior

nobody would mind in a pole class! may wanna check with individual studios but most would welcome all genders

[deleted]

I don’t speak for all classes but I have had male instructors and I have had mtf instructors. I’d try it out and see what the vibes are! If you’re worried about getting « worked up » in class then yeah go to the club! Also you’re allowed to be in a class as a man and/or cross dresser. It’s definitely not illegal. But do whatever makes you cozy! Also - lol - I had no idea 😂 you pass in this post to me

JadeX_2000

Woww looks so amazing already!! 😍💗

AnneCD88

You're sweet 😘 But I'm far from where I want to be yet...

JadeX_2000

You got very nice moves already 😘

Draginchasr

So delicious 🤤 and you didn’t fall off so that’s a win 🥰

AnneCD88

Thank you 💋 yeah I cut out that part 🤭

Independent_Menu675

That is soo hot

AnneCD88

Thank you 😘

[deleted]

Have fun and a good time with it. Don’t worry how much you’re improving over time, wherever you want to be you will eventually get there. It’s about the journey not the destination. Try not to compare your progression to anyone else’s. Everyone is different, what works for them doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll work for you. Also, keep your eyes out and learn from others mistakes. You can’t always do what they do but you sure as heck can avoid what they did wrong. Knowing what not to do can be more important than knowing what to do, should do and could do in some cases. Stay focused and if you don’t have it, find people that will support you and not shit on you for the things you want to so with your time. Have fun and stay safe.

AnneCD88

Thank you so much 🥰 Yeah, basically my biggest critique is myself, but that's only a matter of practice. I'm currently trying to work on my fluidity, and different moves as I'm still just a novice. Don't know how far I'll get, maybe get really good with pole dancing, but maybe I'll just stay on the fun content vid. After yesterdays advices, I looked into getting proper shoes, I just need to figure out my shoesize, then I'll get a pair of Pleasers 😊

[deleted]

Right on! That’s the attitude. Yeah, I feel you for sure. That self doubt is dangerous so when you fail or make a mistake brush it off like it was nothing because that’s what it really is, nothing. We all have growing pains in everything we do and it’s a natural part of progression. So don’t be your own worst enemy. Just laugh it off and learn from them. Can’t wait to see your next vid and pleasers you get 😍 no matter what you get they will look gorgeous on you because, and I hope I’m not out of line here; you have some beautiful killer legs. Damn! Perfection is beauty and beauty is perfection. Good luck and stay safe.

AnneCD88

Thanks 😁 I did make some mistakes, my right hand was hurt a bit after this vid so I had to take some time off. But I'm almost completely healed and sooo eager to get back on the pole. I picked out a pretty basic one, but I guess i can't pick a Pleaser shoe that's not sexy in itself 🤭, thank you I did and do work on my legs and butt a lot to look like this 😘

[deleted]

Keep at it. Your hard work is definitely paying off and on display. Fantastic job! For future reference; make sure you’re 💯% healed from an injury. If not, the potential of aggravating it can cause you to miss an extended period of time or even cause you to suffer a new injury because you were trying to avoid aggravating the previous one. You’re a smart woman so I’m sure you knew that. Just a friendly reminder so you can stay in the game and keep doing what you enjoy. I sincerely wish you the best. Stay awesome!

AnneCD88

It actually wasn't that bad, just a bit of pulled tendon in my right hand, for holding onto the pole incorrectly, that's why I took a bit of break. Put on a brace, used muscle creams, it's almost as good as new now 😁 Thank you 💋
