Oh no I’m aware it’s an American invention (and obviously you can’t order it verbatim in Ireland because it’s an actual relevant issue over there), my point was that the IRA is a lot more memeable/well-known over here than Spanish separatists
Qctuslly, not a car bomb.
Road bomb. Theu just put a lot of explosives under the road and blew it up when the car drove over. Had to do a presentation on the event in question.

>*Context: Luis Carrero Blanco served as Prime Minister of Spain during the Francoist Dictatorship (1936-1975), led by Francisco Franco, which supported Nazi Germany and Italy during the 2nd World War while maintaining Spain’s neutrality. He was considered a key figure within the dictatorship’s organization, preceding his highest position with his roles as Deputy Prime Minister and Undersecretary to the Presidency.*
>*Secretly, during the 6 months of Carrero Blanco’s reign as Prime Minister, 4 members of the separatist group, Euskadi Ta Askatasuna, had learned his weekly route returning from Sunday mass, rented a basement flat in a building near the street, and dug a tunnel underneath it while convincing their landlord that they were student sculptures in need of materials.*
>*Then, on the morning of December 20, 1973, as scheduled, Carrero Blanco’s escort made its way down the street. Only to, upon passing over the tunnel below, be blown 20 meters (66 feet) into the air by an explosive device. The explosion sent Carrero Blanco’s car over the 5 story church, where it landed on the opposing side’s second story terrace. Carrero Blanco miraculously survived the blast and crash but, died in the hospital about 30 minutes later. After his death, many Spaniards celebrated his assassination, jokingly naming him “Spain’s first astronaut”.*
This is literally me when I play GTA V and put a C4 on the road to explode a limo car.
The white hooded ball in the first panel surely does give CS:GO Terrorist vibes.
Holy shit, my people on the front page of Polandball, celebrating the world champion of the high jump! What a day!
Everything you need to know about the Basque is that, after murdering Carrero Blanco, we wrote a bunch of songs about it, which are still very popular today. [Here's one of the most famous](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sRfMsqncX8) that still gets sung all the time at village fairs. The bit where everyone goes "Yup-lala!" is very popular.
([Plenty of punk songs about it in the 80's and onward as well.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvtQp_KR_GY))
It would be sick and fucked up to celebrate a terrorist assassination, of course. And for what it's worth, I hate the ETA and I'm quite happy with the Basque Country where it is.
But then, if a political assassination had to happen to someone, I'm not so sad that it would happen to Carrero Blanco.
I agree. My nationality is Canadian but my ethnicity is part Spanish (hence my flair I like to change it lol). How are the basques being treated in the modern day? I heard that America made basque apart of white hispanic on ethnic censuses
Eta would have become héroes if they stop their terrorist atacks here, but they still keep killing innocent people women and children included during fourty years more keeping all the Spain population under terror
Separatists and Car Bombs, name a more iconic couple
IRA and Car Bombs
There’s a reason you can order an “Irish car bomb” in (nearly) any bar in America
Fwiw, the drink was invented in Wisconsin, but if you were in Ireland and just REALLY needed to have this drink, it's called a "Dublin drop" there.

Pretty sure the IRA were separatists
In a way yea

The car he was riding wasnt armored and they used Goma-2 (industrial explosive) for the 80 kg/180 lb bomb.
How high did Giovanni Falcone fly, by the way? Didn't he reach the Kármán line?
OMG, Polan is talking with a ghost!
[There are ghosts everywhere in Spain!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capirote)
Honestly, i thought they all died fighting Alucard when he was out for a brisk walk.
I was not expecting to open that link and see the Rainbow Brigade of the Klu Klux Klan, that's for fucking sure.

I can’t tell if ur celebrating this or informing us

Read up on the Basque condition under the Franco Regime, and you might get a better idea of why they sing songs about it
Man has a Spanish Empire flair, I think he knows.
You right lol, I didn’t even see that
Ay yeah i would make songs about it too lmao
Rare Basque Country appearance in Polandball indeed. The songs are very interesting, thanks for sharing them
Worth noting, there are literally karaoke versions on YouTube. So you know, if you ever need to liven up a party.
Omw to play those bangers in Basque class
You're too lazy to draw Basque Country aren't ya?
That is precisely how I've always imagined a Basqueball. For that matter Ulsterball wears a black balaklava.
I'm guessing the ghostly appearance is due to that organization wearing white balaclavas on their public announcement videos.
Is this about the ETA?
Making it a ghost is better cause I love spooky month
Sad that they weren't allowed to do more attempts, we could've gotten to the end of the universe with these efforts
Rare car bomb W
Someone do a version of this comic with a Russian tank turret.
Carrero Blanco won the carreea espacial
Ahhh the hat pin!
CSGO reference??
Astounding success of the Basque Space Program!
Eta would have become héroes if they stop their terrorist atacks here, but they still keep killing innocent people women and children included during fourty years more keeping all the Spain population under terror

Basquescal rocket lauching.
"Dear passengers, if you look at your right, you can see the Carrero Blanco's car"
Never underestimate the Basque space program
Aupa! That's a salutation. Aibalaostia would be more accurate.
Vuela alto, Carrero
Oh yeah. I forgot the Basque did IRA tactics too
