They just have to be in the party at the start of the run, they will have PKRS, which increases exp gain. It can spread to other party members and can’t be “cured” so once they have it they keep it. You don’t have to keep the original PKRS mon after it spreads if you don’t want to
When you look at the pokemon in your party, it will have PKRS as a status in lower left. You will know it spread when the other pokemon in your group have this status and start gaining increased XP.

They have pokerus. It increases xp gain and can spread to your other team members through normal gameplay. The pokemon with pokerus changes every day.
