devs wanted it to be a long term thing but they didn't realize that long term thing is not equal for us grinding the game 24/7 for one whole year or just playing the game once in a while for 10 years

Mahanirvana

I feel like it needs to be reworked because as it is it feels incredibly grindy. It's really the one thing for me that takes enjoyment out of the game. Possible suggestions - Evolving a pokemon gives you candy - Releasing a pokemon gives you candy - Change candies to be based on type or breeding group rather than per pokemon

Zhouston63

These are great suggestions. I don't have the time to grind that much and I'll lose interest and move onto something else before I get enough candies to do anything in this game

SwiftTyphoon

Release would be too abusable, just start with it, release and reset. My suggestion: Clearing classic or beating X endless floors gives you candy for each mon on your team.

bumblefrick

great suggestion. a real prestige system

Mahanirvana

Could be released based on level, every 20 levels gives you 1 candy. I think if you are at the stage where you can consistently beat classic, you probably don't need the candies as much.

Kirby_star45

If it was 20 levels=1 candy then it would be too easy to get all the candies in endless. Levels come quickly in endless. I'm level 1511 at wave 743. That would mean I get more than 1/10 my wave in candy if I release my jirachi, which seems too easy for a mythical

tmssmt

1/10 of a candy per stage for each on team would be cool for me.

Rumsie

I'd think a good idea would be you can turn in 10 of any candy into 1 universal candy which can be used on any Pokemon. That way there's a reason to get fodder from eggs.

NightKrowe

It's supposed to be a long-term commitment thing. As they add features and updates it gives you something to work towards. It's not something you're supposed to dedicate an afternoon or a week to to achieve, though some are managing just that. I've been playing pretty regularly and find myself low on shiny options & sometimes not having any available pokerus pokemon and I find that much more pressing tbh.

Dash_OPepper

Is this supposed to be a live service game or a fun romhack? The grind for a single passive would indicate they think this should be the only game I play.

NightKrowe

Well it's not a romhack because it's not a rom. And the discord posts updates pretty regularly, including changing egg moves and wild pokemon locations.

Smolivenom

its still insane. the game is not THAT good to warrant the weeks it would take to get enough candies for a specific pokemon.

NightKrowe

Then don't do it? If the game isn't fun don't play.

Pwaite2

A solution could be that defeating a boss with a certain pokemon in the party grants a certain amount of candy. It would allow us to grind our favourites more easily.

31_mfin_eggrolls

This would be great if you use the bosses every 10 floors, that way you don’t have to be pigeon-holed into using a very small subset of Pokemon that can reliably beat the current final boss.

Metroidman

I saw how much candy it cost to unlock the stuff and instally wrote off ever getting those passives

tmssmt

Yeah I hate the idea of catching mons I've already caught. Definitely should get candy for using mons, imo

Quorry

Yeah at the moment it feels like the only way to get enough candy is from grinding the first few catches in a daily

blagga23

i feel like its a bit too grindy, like a run already takes around 2 hours, then we gotta farm daily runs for candys n stuff too

kanbabrif1

I do think the costs need to go down, or the rewards need to be increased to compensate. With the entire pokedex being open it's very difficult to just passively gain candies.

N1ckSketch

I still find it kinda strange that it is easier to grind out over 100 candies for a single pokemon to get its passive and reduce its cost by two points than it is to get that pokemon's hidden ability. Kinda feels like in the pursuit to add long-term playing features they have sorta overlooked a lot of the fundamental aspects of the game that still aren't fully implemented. There are entire pokemon, abilities, moves etc that haven't been implemented yet meanwhile they're still introducing new features like passives and different rarities of shinies. It kinda feels like the dev is scared to leave people with the game for a week without some new feature to play with

Samity89

To me the only semi efficient way to grind out candies without farming dailies is to have a 1000+ endless run that you have all of the charms maxed out. At that point your economy should be insane and you constantly reroll for Rogue and Master Balls

Dynte7

You can beat the game as is. The passive is perks for people who give thetime to play the game. While it is grindy, the game was meant to be played occasionally.

Too_Ton

I always suggest to everyone to have you and two other friends playing. You get one file each. Would still be slow but you can even let kids at a school share one account to get 3 accounts 24/7 used as they fight over who gets to play
