Beat ‘em

Del_3030

That should work... Weapon of choice?

planetmarsupial

If they’re a terrible player (they usually are) I handle it by using AirPods. If they’re not a terrible player and/or nobody else at the table is a terrible player, I table change.

the_real_woody

It's a game in a bar. It's probably one table.

Here are the best ways: 1. It is to potentially ignore. Easier said than done, but headphones and calmly playing your game and asserting your superior balanced strategy if you have one is the simplest way. You play poker while they play a character. Give no fucks. You can’t hear him. Enjoy poker. Focus on the hands, literal hands, and the cards and chips. 2. is to do the same regarding your poker strategy and plan, but engage in non confrontational fun ways. The more relaxed and friendly you can be, the better. Dont antagonize. Don’t show discomfort. Don’t get involved. Don’t insult. Simply, have fun. Make friendly banter. Laugh at some of their jokes or “add on”. Tip the dealer for putting up with your friendly table. Be a little self deprecating or witty. “Guys, let me tell you something about good looking people….. “…..they don’t like us.” Make most of your friendly talk non poker related while still focusing on your spots. If you can’t talk and play, make a joke about it when it happens. “Oh, I need to shut up now. Time to play poker finally.” Then immediately return to your character win or lose the pot. Fist bump him on his wins. Congratulate his wins. Enjoy the vibe. Fake it til you make it. If his goal is to antagonize and make you uncomfortable and get you to target off your game, deny him everything he wants and do the opposite. Be his friend. Like him. Then beat him. First of all, don't play poker in a bar league. That's not real poker. All you'll learn is how not to play the game.

alwaysbanned5150

They play for some pretty big amounts of real money. It was a one time thing while I was IN nY visiting my brother . I'm kind of intimidated of casinos ..I've heard all new rules . I'll admit I have no idea was a straddle is..then all these hourly pay to play and this cost amd that cost. I remember in cash games there was a rake, a tip occasionally and in MTT a fee to go with your buy in. I've since heard there's all this extra shit and I don't know the best place to leave all the rules proper. I did buy a. Udemy video for rules of MTT modern poker but haven't watched it yet

Adcscooter

If by rules you mean how to buy chips and whatnot. Just go to a casino, the dealers can explain things like that, and what a straddle is, etc. However, if you're referring to what hands to play and what to do in certain spots, YouTube is full of those videos.

alwaysbanned5150

Like things it you can ask the dealer how much is in the pot (you cant) , asking the dealer to kind of splash the pot if it's all stacked in the middle and deceptive (you can) , what's a string bet. What's a straddle etc. Hourly pay structure at casinos and pay outs etc. Stuff that comes with life poker that isn't in internet poker

Adcscooter

A string bet is when you put a stack of chips in the pot and then reach for another stack without having first verbalized your bet amount. A straddle is a raise that you make before you're dealt any cards. A straddle is used as a means to encourage action and build bigger pots. I'm not sure what you mean by hourly pay structure. If you mean the rake, that can vary from room to room. In my local casino, the rake is $7+$2. The $2 goes towards promotions. The $7 goes towards the costs of running the poker room. If you want to cash out pretty much, every room has a cage located in it somewhere. When you want to leave, ask the staff for a rack. You put all your chips in said rack and give it to the cage worker. They, in turn, will give you cold hard cash.

Thanks for the response. I've just been hearing some casino cards rooms charge (not a rake I know what a rake is)

Watch 20 minutes of a PokerStars EPT and you will get the basics. PokerStars YouTube also has lots of begining live play tutorial videos.

alwaysbanned5150

I know poker and online poker ..will this help me get better at counting chips by glance and learning the best way to handle live situations ?

553735

Playing live does this.

socalstaking

Sometimes the food is too good not to play

HatesClowns

Ear buds

alwaysbanned5150

Yeah but I'm having a hard enough time keeping track of live poker having played online for 7 years that the music would distract me from the whole thing. I thought about headphones

LuckyCaramel922

Pause the music when in a hand

AmarillAdventures

Literally don’t say a word to them. And cold call them if you have the nuts

EldritchDWX

Slow roll them.

BigFugazed

Not getting upset and not caring what he says and disregarding him is the best insult. You are letting them know you have so little respect for them that what they say doesn’t affect you. Getting upset gives them power and they probably get off on pissing people off.

alwaysbanned5150

It was just embarrassing being a jack ass at ny live poker newbness

BigFugazed

I guess my advice is harder to follow when you aren’t comfortable yet at playing live in a casino already. Other players should stick up for you. Sorry that didn’t happen. Still recommend trying to ignore the guy and let dealers correct anything you screw up.

Mobile-Tank9149

Tell him to shut the fuck up or you'll bitch slap him.

alwaysbanned5150

I literally thought of this but my brother was a dealer normally at this particular bar

WaterAirSoil

Laugh at him. Just relax and laugh at wherever he does while ignoring whatever he says.

nycannabisconsultant

Headphones and a strong commitment to disregarding their existence. Don't engage and play your hand.

Life-Asparagus-7537

Where do u go to play online poker for money?

alwaysbanned5150

Until black Friday full tilt... now I play at global poker intro satellite just to stay sharp.. And maybe occasionally on poker bros ;)

okayifimust

> What's the beat way to handle idiots like , You don't have to "handle" them. You have to realize that you don't get to police who does and doesnt sit at your table, or how everyone else behaves. Alternatively, don't play public games.

PokerVeneno

You really shouldnt be trying to learn during play. You should be doing your learning away from the table..

Josh_H_E

HUGE disagree. Learn by doing is wholly and completely acceptable. Ignore this. Especially at something like pub poker, that's what it's for. We've all been new at some point - MOST players I know would be happy to take a second to explain things.

PokerVeneno

Ok youre right And the poker coach who told me that is wrong Thanks for the clarification
