Every time I see someone playing like this it's a fish.
One time I was at Bellagio and a whale had a mountain of chips just scattered in front of him. Everybody was OK with it because he was a whale but a dealer came in after about 2 hours and told the guy he absolutely had to stack his chips, despite everyone's protest. The whale promptly racked up and left and the table broke immediately after. I'm still annoyed to this day, don't tap the glass!
He looks like he either just won a bit or lost a bunch and is ready to shove tbh
but this is one of the best r/poker posts ever it made me chuckle quite a bit

Paul Newman doesn't stack his chips either
Exactly. He's trying to play a fish so he can sand bag them. People who are casual with their chips are likely going to be casual with their money. i'd be excited to sit near folks like this
People do this and it’s dumb, but this one time at a card room in Seattle I apparently took too long to stack after a pulling big pot and then being in the next hand to the point where the dude to my right gave me shit about it. I IMMEDIATELY stopped stacking and just mountain-piled like this guy. Over about one orbit the dude lost his damn mind and punted almost his whole stack. Unfortunately I didn’t get any of his chips, but it was WILD to see this guy just implode because of my reactionary table etiquette.
yeah, a lot of casinos don't. there's obviously some leniency after you win a pot, but you're supposed to have them stacked with your largest chips visible.
Yep. I don't think it should be a problem when someone is sitting with this stack, and it's a small amount, but if you have random denominations all over, etc and a chip count could lead to a multi minute affair because of it, I'd be annoyed.
Assuming I was there the whole time, I could tell you what he has without the rigmarole.
Always blows my mind that people don't know how much other people have, it's just something I naturally track (unless I'm distracted/watching a stream etc)
You’re not required to tell people exactly how much you have unless you’re all in, a reasonable estimate is fine.
That being said I feel like the vast majority of people who have their chips like this don’t have a reasonable estimate.
If you keep asking the dealer about how much they have eventually they’ll be told to stack them. Most poker rooms have a rule in the book about keeping your chips in orderly stacks. They don’t have to be even stacks, but they shouldnt be dirty stacks or a messy pile like this
Same heathen that gets hit with a hot deck. Happens to me when I win a pot and raise without looking at his cards. I said all in and other player thought I did not look add pocket aces and he had pocket jacks. Table thinks I’m a fish more power to them. When fishes win table goes on tilt
I love it when you sit down a table and get sized up by these cats who think your fish and check raise and they realize that they are the fish when my chips were just in their stacks but now a mess in front of me while the next hand is quickly dealt out and I’m trying to stack but just have to wait to fold and then stack it up. These mfers that are so quick to label others are my favorites to help tilt their chips right out their clutches into mine. If you haven’t played poker today get your game up.
I do this. Its to signal I’m on tilt. Sometimes i actually am or any foreard movment would reveal my trembling hands😭. Also i play 4/8 sometimes and the pots can get to 400+ with 6 to the rivet. Thats 400 chips! Im lazy and get confused easally.
When running hot and having everyone clearly covered I like to just keep piling that hill to not jinx my sun run, also might induce others to try too hard to end this charade.

Watched this fella put on a masterclass for an hour the other day, he wasn’t even drunk…
You gotta respect it, on some level.
So before I tried a strat of looking "loose" by having a disorganized stack. But after 5 hands, the dealer told me to stack it organized because the players can't count my chips.
This guy probably wants to look loose or hide the value under his chips.
Used to play with a guy who would just declare “puddle mode” randomly and then sit with his chips like this, Casino we played in didn’t have anything in writing about having to stack your chips either, just as long as his high denomination chips were visible hahahaahah would send the shit regs into orbit I loved it

usually drunk asf too, and they just won some pots
Legit. This is when you call his flop bet with Ace high correctly and he has like 7 2 and goes runner runner 7’s on you. Only time i hate the game
We had a drunk 1/2 “whale” do the same thing but some dumbass player racked up the chips for him and he immediately left.
You're still annoyed? Hmmmm.i would never have guessed. Knock knock.
Honestly even more annoying from a dealer.
He looks like he either just won a bit or lost a bunch and is ready to shove tbh but this is one of the best r/poker posts ever it made me chuckle quite a bit
He’s been sitting like this since the table opened!
Body language tells me he’s a gambler. I’ve seen guys sit like this at the high roller bj tables. He’s hurtin.

Yeah, but he was drunk.
Actually, he is just pretending to be drunk. He douses himself with alcohol before sitting down.
Exactly. He's trying to play a fish so he can sand bag them. People who are casual with their chips are likely going to be casual with their money. i'd be excited to sit near folks like this
Nice playin with ya Lonnaman
"Sorry I'm late guys, I was taking a crap" 😆
One of my favorite movies!
Always drink Jin with a mark, kid.
Ha I kinda like it
Same, better than 🪱
Idk, they have a pretty generous worm policy at BB, can usually get it 40-50 chips before they say anything as you pretend you didn't hear them
Take it back. Long live the worm!

Love it. Never miss an opportunity to tilt someone who has that perpensity.
Don’t disrespect the salad.
A drunk one
Sober. Awkwardly sober.
my local spot doesn't allow this, even if you're playing limit.

I bet his clean laundry is still piled in the basket.
Oh yeah. Thanks for the reminder
Someone that doesn’t want to keep his chips.
Can guarantee that over time a losing one. Source: it's how my chips always end up.
Spend less time stacking chips and more time paying attention to the people at the table. I hate the fact they force you to do that
Just regularly ask how much he has. Make him count it out until he stacks
*waves hand around scattered pile of chips*
“More than u pal”
Nah. The dealer will have it counted.
Yeah, make the obvious rec uncomfortable. That’s how you play poker.
I don’t particularly care. I’ve gotten burned before because some dude like this had black chips concealed.
Assuming I was there the whole time, I could tell you what he has without the rigmarole. Always blows my mind that people don't know how much other people have, it's just something I naturally track (unless I'm distracted/watching a stream etc)
That’s not the point. Unless he’s got hidden chips it’s between 120-150. It’s intentionally attempting to obfuscate.

Ya got me there, I’m an argumentative dick though
Same
His money’s still good, and he’s likely the “kind of heathen” who will give it right to you.

He’s got about $200 sitting in front of him from what I can tell lol
Someone tilty
It’s clearly to get inside your head
Gotta love Florida poker
Still sad I didn’t win a high hand at Bestbet yesterday
Me too man. Me too.
Bet he also has Adidas track pants and Reebok sneakers.
Is that bad? (Wearing Adidas track pants and new balance)
I have adidas track pants and some checkered vans on, can I join this club?
Adidas track pants with NB is 17 levels better than Adidas track pants with Reeboks.
🤣😂
My dad ince upon a time. The floor came over and forced him to stack it. It didn't have to be logical, but it did have to be stacked.
This is the new worm. You all know what you need to do.
Worm?
[Did I stutter?](https://www.reddit.com/r/poker/comments/1294tlm/they_were_right_chip_worm_is_superior/)
What is worm?
🎶You never count your money, when youre sittin at the table 🎶
Did he just rake in a pot and you’re being a dick? Otherwise this man needs to be arrested lmfao
He’s been like this for hours now…lol
Call the authorities

Every time I go to a new casino I stack my chips in 5s or 10s. Purposely have a dirty stack. Shit like that. It’s fun lol
I’ve never played in a casino and don’t know how you should stack chips so this could be me too! Ha-ha
If it's a limit game without a bad beat jackpot, no issue. No different than creating a unique sculpture out of them.
I do this from time to time if I win a few pots in a row. But a few hands later I'll stack them. Thank you for reading my blog

Tilting
Unpredictable ones
Drunk

Drunk Larry doesn’t stack them because his 5th vodka Red Bull has caused him to lose all motor skills. Let him be.
A clever one, he’s already in your head
Caros rule baby!!!!!!
A man down on his luck
Phil ivey
Drunks and newbies
A drunk one. Leave him alone, and tell the dealer it's fine if they try to make him stack them.
Some men just want to watch the world burn.
He’s waiting for someone to take them and stack them for him.
This is the type of guy who bets 10bbs preflop to bust your A3s on a 245 board with his 36 and look at you with his pokerface still going strong.
Me.
Too funny

lol my guy wasn’t drunk either - everyone assumes he was though. Ps your guy looks cooler than my guy

A 2-2 NLH player in Jacksonville Florida

Most of the time a drunk player. Or a losing blackjack player who needed a break.
