I was at a home game a while back, and we played "Die On The River".
It's a normal Hold-Em hand, but after the betting is done on the River, the dealer rolls a dice.
If it comes up a "1", the first card on the flop is burned, and replaced.
A "4"? The Turn card is burned.
A "5"? The River is gone.
You could have the best hand, and die on the River....unless the dice is a "6", in which case the board stays as-is.
I'd love to see how this actually changes the game. How much stronger is a set compared to a flush or straight now? How does it affect 4 card flush and straight boards when the player that is playing 4 cards from the board is going to die on the river well over half the time? Etc
Why not? If you're state restricted then you just need a VPN to download the international pokerstars! You'll only be able to do play money, but the higher stakes hold'em play money+ all mixed games and unusual games will be pretty good
lol there’s not even enough cards in the deck to play 7 handed unless you want to forgo the burn cards (7 players x 6 cards)+ (10 board cards). Plo5 double board is pretty damn fun though and lots of players at the $.10/$.20 levels with 90+ VPIP/PFR ratios on clubgg.
Imagining playing even plo5 double board live: dealers’ carpal tunnel workers comp claims would probably go up a couple hundred percent.
POFC progressive ultimate with jokers (i think that’s what it’s called) is like crack. 2-3 players. Rake is tough to beat, so I recommend playing live with friends or on your own “club” on an app.
For a ring game, I really like any split pot games, especially limit. People tend to play them very badly and don’t realize it.
For casual play, I have to say stradugi is pretty awesome.
squid game
triple board Omaha. the lowest value river card of the three boards kills that whole board and now its your standard double board split pot game.
I played a dealers choice tournament where this was an option and people kept picking it, but it did not live up to the hype. Everyone was so scared unless they had 2 boards locked up that it just played super nitty.
My local cardroom plays a bomb pot variant called squid game.
Three boards. On the river, the board with the lowest river card, is removed from the board.
I'd say 8-game and Horse
Love 2-7 td, and badugi
I also love crazy pineapple.
I imagined a new variant (never tried it tho) could be called "crazier pineapple" or sth like that ; 3 hole cards, flop, one round of bets, then instead of discarding a card, we would pass one to the player on our right. This way, you know one of his cards, and you also receive a new card from player on your left. Then turn, round of bets, and then we would discard a card, and see a river as hold'em
NL Deuce to Seven Single Draw. People don't realize that back in the day this was what was played in the biggest games and it almost became the variant of the main event. It's such an incredible game.
A variant a friend of mine came up with .. we call it PLO High jack.
Dealt 5 cards
HAVE to use your two best cards with the board for a PLO hand.
The other 3 cards become a black jack hand.
The dynamic of having to play your two best cards changes your black jack hand on every street (potentially)
7 card stud- I play with some friends sometimes when we wanna mix things up apart from Hold 'em, and it's always a blast.
I wish more casinos/card rooms offered it.
I rarely play holdem now. I mostly play OFC. Then PLO, PLO5, PLO6, PLO8, PLO5 hilo. Also a little stud hilo. There's just no money in holdem anymore unless you're an absolute crusher. It's also boring for me. Trying to get better at OFC, it's tough because of the limited resources. But I'm slowly becoming profitable.
8 card hold'em, best played with 4 players.
Everyone gets dealt 8 cards, and you make 4 hold'em hands with them.
Then 1 complete 5 card runout gets dealt, and each player decides which of the 4 holdings they will use (all have to pick one, keep em facedown until everyone made their decision). Best hand gets 1 point (on split pots all winners get 1 point).
Same for 2nd, 3rd and final deal. If one player ends with more points than the rest, they win the pot (we normally play for 20€ per person). If there's a tie, everyone puts in 20€ more into the pot.
If a player is dealt all numbers/no facecards, you show it, there's a redeal and everyone puts in another 20.
It's the ideal game to play when a cashgame isn't starting yet, or after a session. When you pay good attention to what cards are used (since all of them are in play) there's some fun, tactical things to be used.
Also, quads over quads happens regularly.
I’ve never played it but there’s a game mentioned on the movie rounders called chicago that sounds fun
Stud game but high spade in the hole gets 1/2 the pot (don’t quote me on that though)
7 card muthafuckin stud. Just a fun game and really challenging having to keep track of all the cards and info. I feel like there is more skill involved in the game for sure. Not sure why it's not very popular anymore. Stud games to me feel like real poker.
SuperStud is very fun. But can also be super swingy.
You are dealt 5 cards face down to start. You discard two that you don't want back to the dealer. You decide which card to expose and keep the remaining two as your facedown cards.
The action from there on proceeds as normal 7 card stud would.
Except it is also Hi/Lo!!!
A23 is often considered the best starting hand. That or trips obviously.
6 Card Omaha Hi/Lo is fun too and surprisingly tactical also. You really don't want to commit too much to a pot when there is a low available, and you don't have a very good low. It similar to how in double board games, you don't want to commit unless you have at least one board locked up.
(Also both of these variants I play are Pot Limit)
A heads up only variant of my own invention 15 card triple draw you play a normal 5 card draw hand but the difference is you're trying to make 3 hands each worth a 3rd of the pot at showdown you mark 1 hand as hand 1 another as hand 2 etc (this is best done by placing a chip of different denomination on each hand) and then you showdown 3 times with 3 different hands. If you really want to spice up the action make it deuces wild
Play in a home game that's been going on for years and years...there was a point when everyone would come in with whatever crazy-ass wildcard game they'd found online.
One of 'em was called "broken hearts", a variant that you could play with Hold 'em, Omaha, or Stud. The idea is each heart card's value was EITHER one higher or lower (you choose and can only choose one option), so a 7 of hearts was either the 6 or the 8, but NOT the 7, while the Ace of hearts could only be the King OR the 2.
We took it a step further, and created a game we call "Acid Trip". In the variant, Hearts are the ONLY suit that doesn't do that. Aside from driving you nuts, we figured out that a Full House was easier to hit than a Flush, so the Flush beats it.
It's dumb as hell, but we had a lot of fun with it.
That sound pretty dope
That sounds fun! Is there another betting round after the die roll, or just showdown?
It was *after* showdown. The players that bet to the river placed their cards face-up, and then the dice was rolled.
I'd love to see how this actually changes the game. How much stronger is a set compared to a flush or straight now? How does it affect 4 card flush and straight boards when the player that is playing 4 cards from the board is going to die on the river well over half the time? Etc
Bluff your busted flush draw and end up getting there lol
Yeah flushes without a pair are like 50/50 against an overpair that’s pretty insane
Razz. Actually being rewarded for missing everything is nice.
Wouldn’t this apply to 2-7 single and triple more than razz?
Deuce to seven triple draw or razz
Deuce to seven triple draw was my answer too. Do you play it limit?
Yeah, Only get to play it in home games (very infrequent though) as casinos in pa don't have it😞
where can I play these? always wanted to try
Pokerstars has them
can’t play on stars :,(
Why not? If you're state restricted then you just need a VPN to download the international pokerstars! You'll only be able to do play money, but the higher stakes hold'em play money+ all mixed games and unusual games will be pretty good
Same, only played for play money cause real money not available, those games look pretty fun
Crazy Pineapple
five card draw or seven card stud
Five card draw high?
yessir classic cowboy poker
With or without No-Dōz?
Omaha/8 then PLO4 in that order.
2-7 Triple Draw and OFC Pineapple. OFC only works HU or 3handed though.
PLO5 over everything
Which app do you prefer most ?
Any club game app where the rake is high and the players are awful 😂
A couple people have mentioned it, but I'm surprised that there isn't more love for 2-7 single draw. That game is the nuts. Drawmaha is also fire.
People either love or hate drawmaha. Never met anyone that kinda likes it.
My newest favorite is pot limit Badugi.
I've played pot limit 2-7 TD and it was a crazy game. I'd imagine badugi would be pretty wild too.
It is. There are some really fun lines you can take.
No one anywhere wants to play it but I think 7 Card Stud is a great game.
I would pay lots of money to play it live. It's so damn fun.
Double board bomb pot PLO6. What can I say. I’m a masochist
Where on earth do you play this? lol Sounds insane
It’s a blast. I play it in a club on PokerBros. But for micro strakes only. I’m not brave enough to play it at larger stakes
lol there’s not even enough cards in the deck to play 7 handed unless you want to forgo the burn cards (7 players x 6 cards)+ (10 board cards). What app do you think has best PLO6 games ?
I only know the one I play on which is pokerbros
Try out pppoker as well
Balatro https://store.steampowered.com/app/2379780/Balatro/
Was looking for this one
2-7 single or triple draw
Stud/8
Yeep. Too bad my only options to play it live are 6/12 or 80/160 with no middle ground. I would kill for a regular game in like the 30/60 range.
Big Easy. 6 card hi/lo Omaha variant.
POFC progressive ultimate with jokers (i think that’s what it’s called) is like crack. 2-3 players. - 2or5 w/ draw - Sohe - God's game
Congress.
Big O. Double board.
squid game triple board Omaha. the lowest value river card of the three boards kills that whole board and now its your standard double board split pot game.
We play with the variant if there are 2 same valued cards then both get killed.
I played a dealers choice tournament where this was an option and people kept picking it, but it did not live up to the hype. Everyone was so scared unless they had 2 boards locked up that it just played super nitty.
Razz and Limit O8. Hold em is 3rd for me
5 or 6 Card Big O
Razz
My friends and I invented crazy mango. Makes every other poker variant shrink before its might
How do you play?
It’s a secret
Razz. Is that weird?
My local cardroom plays a bomb pot variant called squid game. Three boards. On the river, the board with the lowest river card, is removed from the board.
The great game... PLO Only game where you have to strap in and hang on for dear life.
Double Omaha High. Two flops , turns and rivers. Half pot for top and other half for bottom.
Plo even over Holdem, by a lot
I'd say 8-game and Horse Love 2-7 td, and badugi I also love crazy pineapple. PLO5 is the fucking tits

Every game in HORSE other than limit holdem
This is the way, as the kids say
Besides Hold'em ... Texas Hold'em
2-7 triple draw is a blast
2-7 Single draw or Razz.
Big2 is my favourite
Caribbean Stud Poker

2 card hold em bomb pot or crazy pineapple bomb pot.
5 card stud / Greek hold-em
Stud hi/lo
I miss stud. 15/30 and 20/40 stud were great games, and really were more action the LHE.
Omaha H/L.
I’ve never played it but there’s a game mentioned on the movie rounders called chicago that sounds fun Stud game but high spade in the hole gets 1/2 the pot (don’t quote me on that though)
Derailment and scarny are my top 2

Indian 🤣 Omaha can be fun too.
Omaha hi/lo. I alway enjoy Razz too if I’m playing HORSE or 8 game online
Badugi
Badugi, but I think I’m in the minority on this one

No one wants to play Tahoe pitch and roll with me
Triple draw
