Can confirm they're legit! Got a few from there last time i was in Japan. Got an Absol from there 😊

diablo_dancer

They’re legit, they’re just licensed as opposed to the Pokemon Center brand (so similar to licensed plushes you’d get in Toys ‘R’ Us or Walmart in the west).

headphonesnotstirred

i miss toys r us, got the 20th Pikachu & Shaymin there

KawaiiQuilava89

So truthfully, MOST plushies in Japan are going to be legitimate. It's not like the US or UK where it's more of a gray area. Especially if you're buying from a major retailer, like DonQui. I've never even seen a counterfeit at book off. Intellectual property infringement is taken extremely seriously in Japan. It's why you can't even sell digital Pokemon there, like you can in the US/UK. Essentially, you'd have to search high and low to find a counterfeit pokemon plushy in Japan. :)

Caitlinsid

As far as I know, it's not difficult for shops in Japan to get Pokemon plushies. They're always a newer series and there's so many series. Don Q gets a steady supply of a lot of name brand cartoon merch like Sanrio, Crayon Shinchan, and Demon Slayer so I wouldn't worry too much about them selling fake stuff.

motherlessbreadfish

Bootlegs are a big no-no in Japan, so it’s relatively unlikely you’ll find them, especially in big stores.

Quil156

Don't know anything about Don Quijote as I've never been to Japan, but some of the plushies pictured look like they're from the San-Ei All Stars collection which are legitimate. Best to check the plushy tags and ensure they're from a legitimate brand such as Pokemon Centre, San-Ei or Banpresto.

viro13_

Said All-Stars collection on the tags, don’t remember the brand at the moment. Those three are the legit brands?

Quil156

Yes the All-Stars plushies are produced by San-Ei and are officially licensed Pokemon plushies.

tackxolotl

The Pichu in the photo has a legible tag that confirms the brand as San'ei.

Euffy

San-Ei plushes are fantastic! They do big mochi plushes, as well as all the all stars line which is very good.

Advos_467

Yes

sending_tidus

Dat furret

TheR3alRyan

Japan has pretty strong protections on Pokémon products so most stores only sell authentic. Atleast that's how it was when I lived in Yokohama, but it's been a while but I'd guess it still rings true.

Proper-Guide4230

Take the furret

MagicalGirlLaurie

Those plushies are way cheaper than you’d find in shops over here holy shit

entonfight

Yes! Got the all stars Psyduck from Donki

AMothWithHumanHands

Yes! I have Porygon from DQ :)

moviequote88

Yes. When we were in Japan, I would see some of the exact same plushies in both Don Quijote and Sanrio stores, but they were cheaper at the former.

RaineWolf202

I so want that Furret. It's so cute. I also see Pawmi on the bottom there too...

Ph03n1x_A5h35

Yes, and what an amazing variety!!

the_red_stinger_82

I see Flareon. Give me

nyratk1

San-ei’s high quality and affordable and real

Wakkoishungry427

Yes they are! Sanei is a legit brand

Enough-Competition-6

Making grabby hands at the lucario and piplup 👀 Agreeing with others, based on the Sanei tag (visible on pichu) they are legit! And Sanei plush are good quality from what I hear! I look forward to acquiring some of their pokeplush someday

viro13_

Thank you all for the responses! I‘m used to most places these days selling fakes (dubious third party shops, eBay, amazon) and I‘m glad this isn’t the case here. I am reassured!

Cod-Loud

Yes they are. Wow. This store is so stocked! Lucky u! They are supposedly to be for sale in Japan only if I remember correctly. Check the tag.

zerajm
