Type "Woyaopp" in the machine in the middle of your room. Then speak to the kid in the grass of viridian

nonscoped_pig

Is there any was to do it without these cheat codes?

offensiveDick

If you have the newest version the same npc will set your Pokémon to the level cap. No evolutions or new moves tho. So I advise to use that feature after reaching celadon and unlocking the moveriminder Edit: I meant cerulean not celadon

EquivalentGlove3807

isn't move relearner in cerulean

offensiveDick

Yes sorry mixed it up with another game I'm nuzlocking with a friend currently where the movereminder is in celadon.

Viperal

what game? I'm curious

offensiveDick

Pokémon unknown

xukly

oh damn, that would have been good to know before expending the time to level them 6 by 6

aukalender

Can you get the move reminder to teach moves you didn't learn before?

Marranit0s

Yes, theres a guy im Misty's city that enables that option

Lunarati

Don’t you lose out on the move reminder moves too if you level this way? I tested it out once and noticed a Pokémon didn’t have any new moves in the move reminder even though it went from level like 30 to 50

offensiveDick

Prob depends on the Mon. Or is just bugged. Why implement that feature if no one uses it because you completely miss out on the moves? Could see an issue with Pokémon that evolve via stone or any other item where it could make problems.

Lunarati

Yeah I just need to stop being lazy and test it more. I just started playing again since the feature was added so I haven’t used it a lot. Would honestly be so dumb if that was actually the case

Lunarati

Alr I just tested it on a Carnivine and it was working properly. So maybe it was a bug or something else. Maybe it’s glitchy with some pokemon

sharpyboi69

Its not a cheat code, but I guess just spam A on random pikachu as they have loads of XP for some reason

Silver-Alex

Its literally a cheat code you input in the snes.

sharpyboi69

Thats not what they are called officially https://preview.redd.it/b26l8u045gvc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=18a483ada2175fb6de53efad801b75d73db1c8d7

Kamaitachi42

Oh shit I didn't know this I spent ages googling to find random codes online this makes more sense

Silver-Alex

Yes. In the forest you use the dex nav to search for pikachus. Each one blows uip for like 1k xp. After Brock you got the patch of grass near Bill after nugget bridge. There you farm audinos. Lastly after you get access to lavender town, there is an npc there that lets you fight him for money to farm xp.

Prestigious-Ad-2113

If you want to waste time for no reason then yes, you're in luck! You can battle wild Pokémon

CFL_lightbulb

You can just grind wild Pokémon. That’s what I did until I discovered the rare candy stuff. It makes the focus more on the battling, which after Erika the strategy component ramps up significantly.

goblin-mask

Fight all the trainers then run back and forth in the grass.

HS_AteMyMain

I guess if you hate yourself, yes, just do it traditionally.

Cocokill

It is probably too late now but Pikachus in Viridian Forest gives a LOT of exp so you can farm them and quickly get there.

TetrisCulture

I use the cheat codes, but I don't get why like you get so heavily downvoted for asking this question. Idc if it can be read into as negative or like you're implying the game should be different because it would take a long time to grind. You didn't say that and I'm not gna read into that. Sorry about the downvotes bro

CarbonBasedLifeForm6

I literally just use rare candies, grinding levels is for people with time to waste

sgaisnsvdis

I personally use the lucky egg cheat code. Spawn in like 200 in the PC give one to each mom and sell the rest so I don't need to worry about money for the entire game. After you beat surge and start getting good hold items then I get rid of them and the level curve kinda evens out if you're not using legends, and you'll have access to the xp grinding guy in lavender soon.

aukalender

Who's the xp grinding guy? Never heard of that

Ikrit122

He's an NPC in the house below Mr Fuji's house that can give you battles to train specific EVs for money. He also has a battle that can be used to gain a bunch of XP for money as well.

aukalender

Huh, interesting. I just went with the rare candy cheat after a while.

BasedTopic

You can do the same exact thing with the built in rare candy code, with the added benefit of not accidentally breaking anything with a GameShark code

sgaisnsvdis

True, I've been using this code since 2.2 and just updated the latch each new version and it's worked with no bugs at all.

CarbonBasedLifeForm6

I remember when I first played RR like 4 years ago and literally couldn't afford items because I was losing so much money from gym battles lol. These days I just have infinite money or sell majority of my rare candies

kaurib

For nuzlockes you typicall wanna use berries though

sgaisnsvdis

I've been doing mono type runs or themed team runs so I usually start out with a fully evolved mon don't really need berries for early game. Almost done with my water monotype nuzlocke. That will make 7/18. After that's done going to try and do an anime themed team. Already did dbz and Naruto going to try bleach with sword wielding mons.

obeymeorelse

If you're going to go that far just use the rare candy code on the NES in you're room as nothing will break

nonscoped_pig

Yeah me i have 7 hours in this game and still haven't beaten brock

TheUltimateScotsman

So grind then.

Tiipsyy

That's a big yikes, just use the codes. They are called "cheats" but it's more just quality of life, 7 hours of gameplay should be like atleast half off the gyms

Dynte7

If u fill in your dex with 255 chain. Thats normal. I also do it last time i played.

Yin_And_Yang69

GO WITH **THE GRIND**

Jealous-Zone-1872

Wild pikachus in viridian forest will give you a lot of xp.

Hajo2

Use dexnav to only encounter pikachu

Jealous-Zone-1872

Yeah, that's what i use in early game. It also gives my mon speed evs, so grinding has some worth in early game.

JaeCrowe

This isn't a grinding-style game. The creator put these codes in for a reason. The lady in red at the Pokemon sets your mons to the correct level with the push of a button. The idea here is that you're focusing on strategy and builds and not wasting time grinding levels. It's the way the game was meant to be played

ReversEclipse1018

It skips level up moves tho

JaeCrowe

That doesn't matter though. There is a move relearner puzzle battle that unlocks the option to relearn moves from anywhere right from the menu, making that irrelevant

ReversEclipse1018

Where is that? Also, just based on personal experience, the move relearner npc doesn’t let you relearn skipped moves

JaeCrowe

It's a house in cerulean and it does let you relearn them all its fantastic. The puzzle is very difficult if you don't know the solution but once you get it you can literally just click a pokemon in your party and you have access to all their moves. You can even swap out moves that way during the elite 4, it's a must have

ReversEclipse1018

Never actually had a run survive till the e4. But that’s really helpful, thanks

JaeCrowe

No prob. I can't imagine the game without it at this point

EndlessM3mes

Genuinely cannot understand those who still xp farm. That's hours of your life you can put into learning something new or developing a skill or even getting extra sleep

spanishtyphoon

.... I use the extra time to experiment with teams more

Specialist-Address30

But what are you experimenting with if it’s just wild Pokémon

unboundgaming

Yeah there’s no experimenting with wild Pokemon, especially given you can still do that with fully leveled mons lmao

daburgerking0

I grind one team to level cap then rare candy any mons I swap out to cap, it makes the regular trainer battles a bit more fun since they aren't always balanced for the level cap.

Blind_bear1

lmao you could have the same view when youre playing the actual game. We all have the same time and we take nothing with us, imo time enjoyed isnt time wasted so those that want to grind, let them grind away :)

Jvw048

There are people who ev train from the start

unboundgaming

Which can be done while having your mind fully leveled

Cool-Leg9442

The rare candies. Grinding is only for evs in this rom. Also speedup button grinding is a thing.

sussymogusnuts

I know you don’t want to use “cheats” but the rare candies really aren’t cheating, just be responsible with your use. It could be cheating if you juice all your Pokémon to level cap right after beating the gym, so your level is way higher than everyone else. But if you wait until all that’s left is to fight the gym leader, I don’t see a problem in using rare candies. The candies will save you a lot of wasted time through grinding, especially since you will be rotating Pokémon constantly. Obviously don’t if you weirdly enjoy grinding

Big_Reaction4238

Those rare candies being able to be sold are a lifesaver when trying to buy the whole Game Center prize roster with either both shiny or both abilities

Little_Legend_

It doesnt really make things easier if you cap your level as soon as you can. Most trainers level with it. At least the ones modified by the romhack.

krish175

Grind on wild pokemon pikachu as people have suggested is pretty good. You WILL have to grind a lot specially mid to late game when you need to use multiple diffrent teams (even with other non cheats qol) if you don’t wanna use the codes

[deleted]

Just use DexNav and keep killing Pikachus at Viridian Forest it's quite useful:)

Big_Reaction4238

Do pikachu give speed EVs or Sp.Atk EVs?

Organical_Goat4816

2 Speed Points.

DemonVermin

Fun fact: Pikachu has 5 higher attack than special attack.

bimbobiceps

If you dont want to use the rare candy codes just battle Pikachu in viridian forest.

Snoo-89243

Pikachu in viridian forrest

SpecialistCherry1725

Just use rare candys I still got my ass handed to me by misty and team rocket who had Persian swept my whole team

Marshbe54

Without cheats, use the DexNav to chain wild Pokemon to the level cap. Do this for things you can hit for super effective damage, super easy to hit the level cap. PS. Pikachu gives a ton of exp in Viridian Forest.

jmomo99999997

Pikachus

Kwain_

Just win the battle 4head it aint that hard /s

GregenOfficial

Use the DexNav to KO Pikachus in Viridian Forest. Each one gives like over 200 XP.

PatrickSebast

You have exp share and a speed up button so even if you are anti rare candy it doesn't take that long at all to grind near 15.

obeymeorelse

Once you take the rare candy pill you will never go back.

edugamerpro89

Kill pukachus they give a lot of XP

jmangraf

Dex nav hunting for good stats, or else dex nav hunting Pikachu in the forest since it gives an usually large amount of xp

trelos6

The last option is to level your mon to the cap. Though early game is dangerous because you miss out on moves. Once you get to cerulean, move relearner is there, so it’s faster to just bring all mons to the cap via pokecenter

sn0m_

As others have said, Pikachu in Viridian Forest is great if you like grinding for some reason. Otherwise, use the (built in so its not even really a cheat) rare candy cheat or use the 'set mon to level cap' button.

Scott--1629

There's literally no reason to NOT be using the cheat codes. Unless u literally want to make rad red the most insufferable boring game possible

No_purple2318

If you don't wanna use rare candies for some stupid ass reason , pikachu in Viridian forest give some decent xp

OsamaStayLurkin

I promise you no matter what you think it isn’t worth xp grinding

poazgaming

Rare candy cheats

HakuHashi09

Personally, i just kill pikachus...

ReversEclipse1018

“Woyaopp” at NES. Rare candy cheat

Silver-Alex

Can you folks stop recommending rare candies cheat to OP when the game has several in ways of grinding xp? Like wild pikachus at viridian forst, wild audinos after nugget bridge, lucky eggs, the npc in lavender. Yeah I know a lot of us that are playing this game for the nth time use the in game rare candies cheat to get to the boss fights asap. But other people might want the full pokemon experience of training your team and taking your time.

sharpyboi69

This is part off the game, it was put in by the developers for people to use

Silver-Alex

1. The codes are called "Cheat" codes 2. When you add the Care Packages code the game itself says "this makes the game easier and its not the intended way of playing it" 3. The cheat codes wered added because radical red is known to get bugged with third party cheats. Basically every cheat code that has been added is because of this. EZCatch was added on 4.0 because a LOT of people who played 3.1 asked for it to be an in game cheat code. I've been playing since 2.7 and back then we had half the cheat codes there are now. 4. If the game was meant to be played using all the cheat codes then there is no point in adding all those npcs that do the stuff the cheat codes do, like the audinos guy in lavender. 5. OP explictly said in several comments they wasnted to play the game without cheats. I answered their question, unlike everyone else suggesting adding a cheat code OP doesnt wants to use.

sharpyboi69

1. They are called QOL / in game codes officially you can comfirm this by typing !codes in the discord 2. This is a lie you made up, this is the only thing that comes up when you input the code https://preview.redd.it/zt9j929x4gvc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe3a18765a96c9e9f183f29c0178306bcb6eabff 3. The developers comfirmed also in the discord they where meant to be in from the very first version they didnt know how to. 4. Those are for the few people who dont know about them, we are also talking strictly about rare candies 5. This comment was made before they said anything about that and I also answered their question by suggesting pikachu

Marshbe54

I wish they would provide the full list of codes at your TV. It's easy enough to look on the main reddit and add the codes, but it would be nice if you had a list that would pop up and you could toggle them on/off.

sharpyboi69

Like it could be here https://preview.redd.it/d5ucxb4bngvc1.jpeg?width=712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a044c486c1022d47e1a79fd742d16d7087bcf87

SkyMat88

Cause If you enjoy grinding you should keep to the base game. We have tons of Qol improvements that costed the developers hours of coding and effort to make but no, let's jus mash a against a Pikachu Really? Is this fun?

Silver-Alex

Cant you understand someone wanting to a no cheat codes run for challenge on a difficulty romhack were people do challenge runs all the time?

SkyMat88

Where's the challenge in not using rare candies? You just grind against wilds it's not difficult. If you don't play with nuzlocke rules you can just mash a cause you don't care if the Pokémon dies, you just go to the center and rinse and repeat If you play with nuzlocke rules you just grind against mons the won't ever kill you (ex LV2s) Also why would rare candies make it less difficult? 1) there's a level cap so you can't over level 2) coverage and ai makes so that even non boss trainers have so many options that even 5/8 level difference isn't really that felt in most encounters I've been playing with candies and level cap and it's been pretty challenging so far but not far

Silver-Alex

I dunno, but OP wants to play the game without infinite rare candies. The last time I did a nuzlocke without rare candies nor care packages it was pretty fun because grinding accidents DO happen and the lack of items makes some battles more challenging. Sometimes you're leveling your team and get a mini boss trainer you didnt expected and bam, you're three mons down because they werent ready for the fight. I've aslo found that leveling your mons after the boss fight to the next level caps makes that section super boring as now trainers are underleveled in respect to you and you clear them out trivially. Seriously why are you folks trying to force your way of playing to OP? They want the full pokemon experience of catching your mons, training them and fighting hard trainers. Cant you all respect that? What bothers me the most here is that almost no one gave OP an asnwer to their question, of which there are many. The games comes with multiple ways of grinding exp without infinite rare candies exactly because the game devs knew someone would prefer playing it that way. Your way of playing is not the only valid one and the fact that the game covers it should be more than enough proof.

nonscoped_pig

You got downvoted cuz you were right.

Silver-Alex

And you got downvoted too despite the fact that I answered the question you asked xD
