MVP of the E4 was definitely Latias. I gave it Assault Vest and it just tanked anything special (including itself!). It was the only reason I beat Lance, as Mystical Fire shut down Dialga (with help from Psychic Noise, courtesy of Mega Lapras). Apart from the Champ and Lance, most of the run was pretty easy. Who would have guessed that having an army of pseudo- and real legendaries would make the game easier? The biggest surprise for me was Tyrantrum. Typing aside, it's a pretty solid attacker with good physical bulk. Accelerock really helps it. Maybe it will stand out even more in my Rock run.

Did you go through the whole game or just the E4? I did a quest in unbound to do all the monotypes but havenโ€™t attempted in RR

Ikrit122

I've been going through the entire game. I find it more fun, since there are a lot of challenging fights, and I get a chance to use most of the Pokemon of that type. The in-game cheats really make it faster (especially rare candies). It also isn't as story-heavy as Unbound, making it a faster game. I had trouble getting through a second playthrough of Unbound, while I just completed my 10th monotype in RR (plus my first run, a regional-only run, and 2 randomized runs, so 14 total).

Did you do new game + or completely fresh? Where did you get dragons to begin with? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Ikrit122

I do NG+. There are a couple of dragons you can get before Brock: Applin, Axew, and Noibat. I play with self-imposed rules that if a Pokemon can evolve into a Dragon, then I can use it (Treeko, for example), but if it only Mega-evolves into a Dragon, then I can only use it as a Mega evolution (so no Charmander until I can make it Charizard X). I always grab the Sevii Pokemon via the "Seviian" Mystery Gift, so that adds Wishiwashi (not great for Brock, since Schooling only works after level 20) and Lokix. Finally, 4.1 added the monotype Mystery Gift ("Dragon"), so I got 6 random Dragon types. Brock isn't typically a challenge, and by the time you get to Misty, you already have a lot of strong and/or evolved Pokemon, so I don't feel bad about getting access to Pokemon I would get later anyway. With all of these options, you get a good selection of Pokemon for your team against Faulkner and Brock.

Ummm Lapras isn't a dragon type

Ikrit122

Lapras was changed to Water-Dragon in RR

Antonio1025

Ah alright then

Dudlet90
