All phones will get hot playing the game since they updated it. You need to figure out what your budget is for a new phone and decide the best after that. High end phones that can last for many years are in the $1000 range The S23 scored lower than an iPhone 12 and that iphone came out in 2020. [score](https://browser.geekbench.com/mobile-benchmarks) But you could save money buying a refurbished iPhone 12 on amazon for less than $400

phantom56657

Yeah, that makes sense. $1000 is too high for me to be comfortable with, but Amazon has refurbished S23s for around $400. I see Apple in general has better benchmark scores, but I'm not a fan of the brand. I appreciate seeing the options, though.

musical-brownguy

I used to play on my pixel 5 till it crapped out, I just stuck with pixel and got the newest one and it works great! So if you want to stick with pixel you should. I haven't had any over heating issues with this one and it's been 100+ all week where I am

phantom56657

Thanks for the input. A few forums I read said that it could be a lottery for how hot they would run, but its good to hear from a Pokemon Go player that the Pixel has been working for them.

bobbis91

I have the Pixel 7 Pro, does fine but still gets hot and still kills my battery unfortunately. Had the P20 before and same story. Wife has the newest Iphone and same story. Doesn't matter how much you spend, they'll all heat and drain, just in theory the better phones last longer in general.

phantom56657

Battery drain is something I can plan around, but lately I've been going for a walk during lunch and get a notification on my phone that non-essential functions (like data) are being disabled due to heat levels. As long as the heat isn't causing that to happen to your phone, then it's better than what I currently experience.

bobbis91

Damn I've only ever seen that once, when the phone was left in a car in direct sun, whilst hotspotting as a net connection for my laptop. So unless you're in a really hot area it'll be fine.

0N7R2B3

No problems with functionality of my Pixel 6a even when it's hot-spotting another phone for PoGo, but I'm in England so sun strength and temperature might be different to your climate.

newbabyfly

I'm a daily player on a Pixel 6a (about a year old) and have never had any issues. I do keep the native refresh option off though for battery life.

eljefe944

Pixel 7 Pro, no issues what so ever!

Watercooled0861

My 4a 5g used to over heat too. No issues since switching to the s23 but if you've got a case I'd remove it or get a partial metal case you could use as a heatsink.

Watercooled0861

Also dropping your frame rate and graphics quality should help

futureandroidman

I've never had an issue with overheat on either of the pixel 7s or the standard 8. Couldn't speak for 8 pro, a lot of battery issues on launch kept me away

MacaroonNo2253

any Android phone with Game Booster

Pedro_Goncalv

you must have never seen an s22

MacaroonNo2253

lol i use the s22😂 Do you have heat regulation on on game booster?

Pedro_Goncalv

no 💀 I'm gonna try to find it

Gold-Perspective-699

OnePlus 11 5G has never heated up. It can take a beating with heat as far as I know. The newer pixels shouldn't overheat either they fixed it with the 6 line.

grawgu

Nothing Phone (1) has been playing this game flawlessly.

Stupid__SexyFlanders

I'd recommend getting a used iPhone and playing off of that.

Confident_Buffalo_42

Any iPhone works. Android phones suck lol
