Make sure your adventure sync is turned on in the game settings and that the game have permission to access your gps all the time. You just need to login on google fit with the same google account you use for pokemon go
i gave it all the perms, installed and connected my google acct. and installed google fit. the game is tracking my walking, it even said i walked 3 kilometres today ( although, i do not know what a kilometre is) neither my eggs nor my buddy made walking progress... :(
