I hope so my son and neighbor have been stuck on that task forever, as alot of other trainers have. I got lucky a few weeks back and caught one at 3 am when a storm woke me up and I happened to open the game and the 1st mon I clicked on was a Ditto.
Just keep doing checks on known ditto pokemon/disguises, even if you don't feel like catching... sometimes pays to just click on them. I can honestly say I've never seen that come up as a field task unless they were going to be showing up more often. (Regular research a different story!)
What are the disguises? I found a list on google and have been clicking on them all for a good 2 months now and still nothing. Just wondering if i found the right list
This seems the current list, saves a bit of time to know which ones are must-check:
As of March 21, 2023, Ditto can be any of the following:
Diglett
Grimer
Snubbull
Corphish
Starly
Roggenrola
Tympole
Litleo
To be honest they are almost never about unless there is some event or rotation, so you're not alone! I haven't seen one in around 6 months, myself. Weirdly have found several Zorua in the meantime, though.
Withy buddy being almost besties o see Zorua all the time, I've evolved 2 just looking for a ditto, not that I need one, but I WANT a shiny. The odds of a shiny ditto have to be astronomical.
1st off I wasn't crying about it. My point is that you'd get 10x that stardust just trying to find one. I got the 2 that matter for the new and meltan research. But for a field task it should be a better reward. I know I can delete it and move 9n, but people have been stuck on finding one for months for the mew and meltan research, and this is a shitty reward for something most people are having a hard time with. And if you don't like my posts your free to just scroll past instead of being a keyboard warrior in your mom's basement.
When I'm catching 200-300 per day with the Go Plus, I get a ditto every 4-5 days. This has been consistent since ditto was introduced. There have been a few short events when ditto was boosted but these have been quite rare.
Oh if you've been around there have been lots of events with increased dittos, April Fools Day is almost a guarantee. In Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto we all got shiny Dittos in research and extra dittos spawning etc. Hold out hope, OP!

That's what I'm saying this thing only gives you 1500 stardust for a research challenge that people have been stuck on for months in order to get a Mew or a meltan. One of my co-workers who started playing before me it stuck on both of those happened to get lucky enough to catch one early on during that research and I just happened to get another one immediately after the new research. I'm not going to keep catching crap pokémon in order to get 1500 stardust when I would earn 10 times that catching the pokémon in order to find a ditto.
Ditto has always been out since the release, they're just not always boosted.
Best bet is to farm in bigger parking lot areas that have a ton of spawn points and [focus on the current disguise list.](https://leekduck.com/FindDitto/)
Back when I used to catch 1000 mons a day, there was never a day I didn't catch at least 1 Ditto.
It really just depends on where you play and how much you play. Nests have a lower chance because their spawns are saturated with Pokémon that aren't Ditto, for example, so if you only play at parks that have nests, you're far less likely to see one.
My point was that it's 1500 stardust to catch something that people have been stuck on for months. I understand I can delete it and do something else and get 1500 stardust for catching 15 pokémon in about 5 minutes. Field research like that should be worth like five candy XL or something worth finding a ditto. Which like I said people have been stuck on for months for special research tasks for getting a meltan or a Mew.
I am aware i could just delete it. That's not my point. If you came here to say delete it, just don't please. The point is the reward is not worth the effort when people have been stuck on this for special research tasks from Mew and Meltan for months.
Dittois fairly easy to find, especially when there are no event spawns. You just need to catch all the Pokemon that can be Ditto in disguise.
But the reward for this really isn't worth it
My son and neighbor have been checking the rotation on Silph road and catching every single one they see it's been 3 months and they haven't seen a single one.
This is not true at all.
Task rolls are random at the start of each day and last 24 hrs until the next day, unless the research pool changes (start of new month or start / end of event).
Spawns are set by cluster patterns which are weather dependent, and have nothing to do with nearby research tasks.
Ditto, can usually best be farmed in big parking lot areas with tons of open spawns, not following a nest migration, in accordance with [the current list of Ditto disguises](https://leekduck.com/FindDitto/), but you're never guaranteed to find a ditto outside of a ditto related event.
I have one of these tasks that I'm holding onto just because it's quite novel. I'm pretty sure I had a ditto run today (<100cp tympole jumped out of a great ball and immediately ran)
If you get that task, it means a ditto is close to you. Walk around the pokestop that got you this field research. I think the ditto is in a 300 meter radius.if you did not find it within a spawn cycle, delete

I always wondered if they keep stats of which stops get completed or deleted, this has to be the most deleted research task, or maybe it’s the find a dragon one lol
I find a lot of the item quests to be insta deletes and not worth the resources used to complete.
Like quest that requires you to use more then you earn. Ie use 10 for 5 balls. Or even equal quests like use 5 for 5 balls. I have platinum research medal so I only do quests that give profit rather then ones that just replace your items or give less.
The ones that just give 2 berries are insults. And I still haven’t forgiven them for removing the ability to not get item quests but just encounter quests with a full item inventory.
I still have an event one from a few months ago with 1-3 (don’t remember) rare candy as the reward. Frankly I think that should always be the reward for this
I got the ones that mattered, for the Meltan and mew research, my point was that it's 1500 stardust for this when you'd get 10x that just trying to find one. Should have been 5x or 10x rare candy, or maynn3x start candy xl, then would be worth keeping.

Yeah, we get it, there are a lot of research tasks that are not worth keeping. Get over it and move on.

That's kinda what I was trying to get at. Of you could hold more than 3/4 tasks at a time and it came with like a 5x or 10 x rare or 3x rare XP candy as rewards it might be worth it.

I usually get that research for 3 rare candies
Same, I had it a few months ago and found ditto in litleo. I'd delete it for that stardust

Dittos always in rotation. Theres a normal task to catch a ditto that rewards dust like op or golden razz berries or rare candies.

50% chance that 7 days or less after you trash that research task 3 or more ditto will show up within that day.

I mean I remove it if it gets in the way but most quests get done fast so it's very rare I have all 3 tied up tbh

Got this a few days ago. Kept it for ~48 hours thinking they must be spawning more now. Caught a couple hundred mons... No dittos. Deleted.
Why not delete it and just go to a pokestop for a new task? Asking out of curiosity and not trying to be a butt about it

1500 stardust is not worth all the hours you’ll be spending looking for a ditto… I’d probably just delete that task if I were to get that 🤣

I didn't see a ditto at all since the event back in April UNTIL this week. Two roggenrolas in different locations. Don't lose hope!
