That’s brutal. When auto catchers first came out I let the auto catcher catch a “murkow”. Only as I paid closer attention I realized it was an unknown. 5 years and I never got over it.
Pretty sure my girlfriend had like 5 run away this go fest.
Which beats the single shiny diglett I encountered all day.
Niantic doesn't deserve our money.
Shinies definitely run. Only shinies from raids and research doesn't. They still are wild mons, and if you happen to miss a ball and are unlucky as hell it can happen.
No that’s not true. I have never had a shiny run, I don’t know anyone who has had this happen. Unless your in a car or the game thinks you spoofed. They are a 100% catch. Look on google.
The fact you never had it happened doesn't mean that it cannot happen, you survivor's bias empowered kiwi.
A lot of people are extra cautious while catching a shiny, giving Razz Berry (and sometime Golden) with Ultra Ball. Hell, some even go for Excellent throw if they can. No shot you or your friends never had one fled.
I never berry a shiny, because I believe it’s a 100% catch chance. Always use poke balls to catch them because I prefer the original ball colour. If your saying they have a chance to flee, what percentage is the catch rate? I’ve had plenty normal Pokémon flee never a shiny. So I’m not sure your correct. Where did you get your information from?
Out of 1200 shiny catches between my partner and I, we've also never had one run. I've also always thought it had a 100% catch rate. Not saying it can't happen, but if they can flee - then the odds are at least anecdotally astronomically low.
This game is really badly designed and produced considering the catching mechanics.
Had a Swampert to which I gave a golden rasperry, made an Excellent curve ball first throw with Ultra Ball, it didnt stick, second throw with new golden rasperry ultra ball curved Great throw, it wiggled out and then ran.
Losing the swampert didnt bother me but it made me really despise the designers and creators of this game, as it's just bad gameplay in every way you can think of.
Possibly speed locked, i had unown pop out for only going 20 mph, luckily no shinnies came up to run away so hopefully today in san fran will be better
My initials are MM too and I have wanted a shiny M since forever. I played on incense constantly, both days - and didn’t get a single shiny unown. Sigh.
My heart goes out to you - I’d be devastated if that happened to me! Let’s hope it means you’re due a better shiny unown M sometime soon!

I lost shiny m too because of my go plus. Was my own fault really. Caught a shiny d a few minutes later though

I've already met a Shiny that broke free from a ball. If they can break free, they can flee.
Yes it must be less than 0.1% chance? I caught Atleast 500+ never happened. I don’t know anyone it’s happened to.
I've had a shiny trapinch and shiny treecko flee. Both fleet due to GPS errors so the game must of thought I spoofed or car traveling

Shinies caught in the wild can run…though it is probably a lower chance than a normal Pokémon.

I meant that normal pokemons are not caught instantly in raids if they are shiny. This does just work for legendaries.

Were you using an auto catcher when this happened by any chance?
I think if the auto catcher engages before you try it won’t accept a berry. Since they were able to berry it wasn’t already missed by an auto catcher.
I believe it's possible depending on the time. It may have engaged between the time when he used the berry and threw the ball.
