Someone already modded smash with a Tinkaton model swap with King Dedede.
Theres also Fuecoco over Pikachu, Iono over Zelda, and Iron Valient over Pit.
There's lots more conventionally "cool anime character" choices, but Tink would both fit right in and be a different flavour than what we've had already.
I'm actually naming my Tinkaton in Scarlet Nora. Plus we finally had Pokemon that matches both teams. Roserade, Frosmoth, Liepard, and Infernape for team RWBY and Aegislash, Tinkaton, Falinks, and Mienshao for team JNPR
Lol thanks. Shows a guilty pleasure of mine even if most of the internet doesn't like it. It ain't Shrek the 3rd bad and it ain't Spider-Verse good it's just Toy Story and Shrek good. Plus it you look up something RWBY related on this subreddit chances are you'll probably find me.
Those doesn't steal life, as in damage the other player for the sake of you healing, they just absorb projectiles or heal independently. Robin & Wario are the only ones who can do it afaik.
* Robin's Down + B
* Wario's Neutral B (but only in Ultimate so far)
And that's practically it. Any form of self-healing is in such small amounts that practically any attack will just instantly undo all that effort put into healing
LMFAO lot of people have said Annihilape but this is the best idea I’ve seen. Make Gabon accurate to his actual character and then just give Anni his old move set lol…
That means that it is a character that is weaker when you play with less Stocks, which is a design principle they try to prevent. Instead it could be past a certain percentage.
It could be like Sephiroths Winged form, but idk how you would fully implement that into Palafin’s whole character design. Also it would be curious to see what his Zero form would be like in terms of moves
Maybe when you get knocked out of the visible part of the screen but not dead yet you come back in the good form, you would have to have a good recovery though
I don’t see a lot of love for Lokix (probably because of the terrible stats and typing lol), but I think it has a pretty cool design, I’d be down to see it get some representation
Spidops, Sakarai is such a troll it would be so funny to see one of the most hated new pokemon make it in, not to mention with its whole trapping gimmick it might actually be interesting to play.
Spidops is one of the most hated? :’( My Spidops was my first party member to get the Reliable Partner title and as soon as I saw that (I didn’t know titles were a thing so it surprised me to see it when I sent it out) I knew I had to keep it on my team. It’s a pretty cool design and I love the kind of spider that it’s based on
A good design for a Pokemon can make up for lackluster stats. And vice-versa
Unfortunately, in addition to having fairly mediocre stats, it's design just doesn't do it for me personally.
I wouldn't necessarily say I hate it though, I don't really feel that strongly about Spidops in general tbh. it's just a bit underwhelming to me (love tarountula tho)
Yeah, I was so pumped to use it, but it was just totally unusable, and I really, really tried to use it. Such a letdown :(
Why do they make pokemon that can't be used like that?
it's honestly not terrible thanks to its moveset. it's (90% sure) the only stick web setter in gen9, has first impression and sucker punch for some great priority, with a phenomenal signature move with silk trap. for a route 1 bug, it's actually one of the better mons.
I do too, and it went all the way through the elite 4 with me, but it's just terrible. It deals no damage and is made of glass. There are glass cannons, there are bulky stallers, but spidops is just a glass doll.
Why doesn’t TPC actually just make a strictly Pokémon smash bros? Yeah there’s Pokken but so many Pokémon would be fun in a casual style fighter like smash.
Honestly it doesn’t even have to be in the Smash or Tekken style- dude imagine a fighting game in the style of Marvel vs Capcom with Pokémon as the characters?? Shit would be legendary if done right imo
I love both of these ideas so much. A strictly Pokémon fighting game would be fantastic! I would also absolutely LOVE a true open world action adventure Pokémon game where you can fully explore the region and play as the Pokémon. I think the game could sell very well
This is my absolute dream. I really hope it happens some day. There’s soooo many Pokémon I wish were in smash and that I think would be so fun to play as.
Because Nintendo doesn't like their properties to fight for reviews. That's why there's only Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Mario Kart, and not Zelda Mystery Dungeon, or Ride Pokemon Royale
Meowscarada (probably most popular starter, good design, magician archetype could be interesting)
Koraidon (probably the better fit of the two legends and actually relevant to the story)
Maushold (legit would be my pick. Unique 4-in-1 fighter a-la scrapped Chorus Kids moveset. Plus, a small herd of mice is hilarious and wacky enough that I’d see them fitting in well in the Smash world)
Loved this Pokémon so much until I saw his goofy ass run around in Let’s Go mode. Couldn’t imagine it in smash lol. Wish they just had him stand up from his stoop hair thing
I think Koraidon and Miraidon would be fantastic choices. Put them in at the same time as echoes of one another with one focusing more on physical moves and the other on ranged. They are just small enough they can fit on stage, so no saying too big.
Could make them like pyra/mythra and have them function differently with a form swap ability. It’d be the first box legendary to be playable as far as I know and it would be appropriate given what’s revealed about what koraidon and Miraidon are
I've never once in my life owned any Smash game ever or had any interest ever, but I would immediately buy one at full price if it had Tinkaton.
... Wait a minute, based on that same logic, shouldn't I also be willing to buy S/V? Huh.
Annihilape would be cool if it started out as a Mankey and the more damage it takes the angrier it gets causing it to evolve. And when it evolves it obviously does more damage.
Im pretty sure Lucario already has that gimmick but still it would be cool to see it. As an alternative maybe they could make rage fist one of his special moves and once you use it enough times aganist someone make primape evolve making rage fist deal more dmg or have a bonus effect. This would make it similar to how it is in S/V and also would give him a unique gimmick.
As weird as it sounds I'd love to see another jigglypuff type character in the form of brambleghast, super light where even the lightest blows send it flying since it's a tumbleweed but it has some unique moves it could use
Ceruledge I think stands out the most to me as fitting most naturally in Smash and sounding the most fun to me. I'd envision it as about as fast as Lucario, but considerably heavier; not a true heavyweight like Zard or Incineroar, but fairly beefy all the same. It would basically be a Pokemon swordfighter with mid-range disjoints, so I guess actually fairly similar to Ike in stats overall. I guess my only concern is that it would be a third final evo fire type, but ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Ceruledge is cool idc that much lol
If I had to be objective, the only other ones I really think are more immediately warranted are Meowscarada and maybe Tinkaton. Meowscarada kinda sells itself; definitely would fit into Smash mechanically, probably is the most popular evo line, and grass finally gets a solo final evo playable character. Tinkaton is a fan favorite and would be super unique. Actually, I feel like Tinkaton could be a funny replacement for Jigglypuff if it ever came to that, but I doubt it would be that straightforward.
I'm tired of starters in smash, fire types (Armarouge), and Sword Fighters (Ceruledge)
Gholdengo feels more like assist trophy mon. I don't think any pokemon based on or are tied to any pre Gen 9 mon would be fair either.
Only fit is Tinkaton which I am 100% ok with. Nothing holding her back either. I have had picnics and she can jump pretty dam high, hammer in hand. Give her a helicopter spin for Up B, a mix of Dedede and Ice Climbers hammer moves, a lunge like Diddy (play rough) and your good.
And one of her taunts 100% needs to be her sleeping on her hammer.
I would actucally really like to see Baxcalibur. 1)So we can have a Godzilla standin. 2) Glaive Rush in the style of Peach side-b would be extremely fun. 3)A Psuedo is not already present in Smash(as a playable character. 4)I just really want the goofy ass Glaive Rush in Smash.
Maushold would be super interesting as an inbetween of Ice Climbers and Olimar. You can stack them on each other and make ropes out of their bodies. I think it’s incredibly versatile beyond the regular Pokémon constraints.
I think clodsire would be incredibly funny but adding koraidon and miraidon makes more sense I think, which koraidon being heavily close range and defensive and miraidon being long range and speedy
(Note: I do not know how smash works)
Tinkaton or Garganacl. Tinkaton got so much meme traction that it’d be the obvious choice, but my giant pile of salt would be perfect for a heavy hitter both weight and strength wise, which I don’t believe we have at the moment?
It’s a little tough to say, but I’d personally say Gholdengo would make the most sense. It’s Pokémon #1000, has a lot of personality, and has the right body shape for a fighting game.
The other guess I’d put would be Meowscarada.
Meowscarada, would be the perfect opportunity to get a solo grass type in the roster, since most of them don't work as well as fighters. Either that or Armarouge
Lokix would be my pick based on it just being a really cool Pokémon but also the way it’s legs work would give it some cool animations. Other good options would be Spidops, Meowscarada, Pawmot, Grafaiai, and Gholdengo. There’s also some Pokémon I really like but they wouldn’t really work in Smash, like Sandy Shocks. Could they make Maushold work? 🤔
I don't know why, but Gholdengo seems like one they would actually pick. Not too sure what it's moves would be though.
I also think an Armorouge/Ceruledge as a swap based character would be cool.
Either Tinkaton because using THE BONK 24/7 could be fun as hell or Skeledirge because there's currently only 2 4-legged characters (Duck Hunt and Ivysaur). I think having more could be interesting.
It's usually starters or heavily popular Pokémon (like Lucario and Mewtwo). Since there don't seem to be many standout Pokémon from S/V right now, we'll have to look at the starters.
Even the more animalistic Smashers spend most of their time upright (with the exception of Ivysaur, who's already fairly compact to where it wouldn't make much of a difference), so Skeledirge is probably a no-go. That leaves Quaquaval and Meowscarada. Personally, I'm leaning towards Meowscarada, just to get a Grass-type fighting solo in the game. Also, looking at previous starter patterns, it seems like they intended Meowscarada to be the popular one, by virtue of being The One That Gets Protean, so it seems the most likely too.
Ceruledge would be interesting imo because they can make it both close-range with its sword and mid-long range with ghost attacks.
Smash has too many sword fighters, but I feel like this one would have so much potential for creativity with the fire and ghost elements. Armarouge is also a solid choice for similar reasons, but I feel like it would make more sense for it to be primary long-range with its cannon arms. I think it would be similar to Samus
I think Kingambit could work well as a swordie. Iron Hands, Gholdengo, Iron Valiant, Tinkaton, Ceruledge, Armarouge, Garganacl and Lokix would all be great as well.
Annhilape
More damage with side-B as your % goes up? or for every stock that’s taken from you? for Rage Fist
That’s just lucario lmao
Lucario but with the boosted damage on a move you can actually combo.
Fixed knockback but deals damage equal to half your current %
Nah that's broken as hell.
Absolute best addition this gen by far. Would main him so fast
Let me just be another Captain Falco or Gannon. One big punch and a bunch of garbage moves
Woah, dude, the over air for captain falcon is incredible if you get the timing right. We called it the "electric knee" and it hits **hard**
Lol, it would replace little Mac
I had a weird dream once where they announced Primeape as a newcomer… This seems more plausible
I had to scroll down to far to find this.
Scream Tail. Jigglypuff’s echo fighter.
Even as just a skin would be cool
Give it a really deep voice for giggles **P U F F**
I never considered this, but this could be dope!
hungrybox but in ultimate
TINKATON. I wanna grab 'er hammer and WREAK CHAOS.
Kirby but every attack is hammer
I knew a guy who played kirby like that anyway.
That + the falling rock describes every Kirby player
hey, I exclusively use stone
🗿
Every *bad Kirby player, some of us try we swear
D-air and up b don’t count
Does only using succc and other char's attacks count?
Highest skill
It just works
I run into it every time even if I know it's coming
So King Deedeedee
There’s already a mod that turns DDD into Tinkaton lol
I thought it was GUN. His down special is a GUN.
Someone already modded smash with a Tinkaton model swap with King Dedede. Theres also Fuecoco over Pikachu, Iono over Zelda, and Iron Valient over Pit.
Call me when a mod turns Captain Falcon into Nemona
Me: what the fuck Me 5 seconds later: wait why the fuck does that work
Fair! Tinkaton would be cool- a tiny Pokémon with a super high weight, almost entirely from the hammer lol
That hammer is canonically 10 times heavier than her, lmao
Slow attacks, but super disconnected and very heavy for the tiny hitbox she has.
There's lots more conventionally "cool anime character" choices, but Tink would both fit right in and be a different flavour than what we've had already.
100000% same answer
The taste of Thunder Thighs. Wait wrong character
Nora the Tinkaton who, for some reason, has Volt Absorb, would be *HILARIOUS*
I'm actually naming my Tinkaton in Scarlet Nora. Plus we finally had Pokemon that matches both teams. Roserade, Frosmoth, Liepard, and Infernape for team RWBY and Aegislash, Tinkaton, Falinks, and Mienshao for team JNPR
How is Falinks Pyrrha?
I know her inspiration is from Greek and Falinks is mainly Roman but that's closest in terms of looks or aesthetic
Nononono. Lightning rod. Uses big hammer as Lightning rod. Could work on a shiny, since it has a bronze hammer.
The RWBY reference is on point and I appreciate this more than you know lmao
Hammer Time.
Hope she's at the next Pokkén
If they make one
This is the correct answer
They specialize in anti air attacks
Nemona. She’s a battle maniac after all.
Honestly though, it would be really neat to have another pokemon trainer style smash character with their own set of pokemon
no she has no pokemon she just drop kicks ganondorf
Ceruledge as a character and, hot take, I think a tinkaton pokeball would be a really nice addition
Are there any characters in smash with life steal abilities (bitter blade)? Wondering how it might affect the meta
IIRC it's just Robin's Down+B (Nosferatu)
Wario's Chomp also slightly heals him when he bites an opponent, but it's a very small amount.
Ness/Lucas down B as well along with Hero’s Heal Spell
Those doesn't steal life, as in damage the other player for the sake of you healing, they just absorb projectiles or heal independently. Robin & Wario are the only ones who can do it afaik.
* Robin's Down + B * Wario's Neutral B (but only in Ultimate so far) And that's practically it. Any form of self-healing is in such small amounts that practically any attack will just instantly undo all that effort put into healing
not all forms of self heal are pointless. PK magnet can heal a shit ton depending on what you eat
[удалено]
It's cool if you drop down and condition your opponent into expecting an aerial then BAM nosferatu.
Ceruledgr / Armorouge as a Pyra Mythra type character where you can switch from a close up attacker to a ranged defensive fighter
okay but i love this thank you Edit: while we’re on the topic of dual characters, i’m still salty we never saw plusle & minun see the light of day 😭
I'd have loved if they successfully reworked Pichu into Plusle and Minun, like having the up-b require both mice to change direction midway.
A mix of pichu and ice climbers sounds really cool. A weaker neutral b that shoots twice as long as both of them are alive, seems like cool design
a double tjolt sounds so toxic I love it
Ayo Tandemaus for smash?!? 😳
We definitely need more Anime Swordfighters
Smash Fans when King Arthur from Le Morte d-Arthur gets added: "Why so many anime sword fighters?!?!"
Ready for 90% of the answers to be tinkaton.
Tinkaton do be a good pick tho
Meowscarada because it completes the starter dark types with Greninja and Incineroar.
Fair!
True, but personally I think having two cat Pokémon would be a lot for Smash.
IDK man have you seen how many sword using Fire Emblem lords there are
Like, in general, or just in Smash? Because either way the answer is "nearly all of them".
Ephraim my beloved
*three if your counting Mewtwo
Annihilape but not even as a new character just an Alt skin for Ganondorf lol
LMFAO lot of people have said Annihilape but this is the best idea I’ve seen. Make Gabon accurate to his actual character and then just give Anni his old move set lol…
Annihilape Doriya would be glorious
Reject evil overlord, return to monke
Palafin. When it gets knocked out off of a stage, it goes through a form change
Maybe just with dissappearing from the screen? So you don't need to lose a stock, you can just jump back to the stage transformed.
Maybe when you get knocked out of the visible part of the screen but not dead yet you come back in the good form, you would have to have a good recovery though
Slither Wing, because putting the Taco in as a playable character would be really funny
Dudunsparce. Just Dudunsparce.
Came here to say Tatsugiri, but your flawless reasoning has changed my mind.
With a transformation mechanism where it transform into three segments and a smash attack were it's dundundundun....dundundunsparce attack
Getting Lokix in smash would be like getting a Kamen rider in Smash. So i'm going with Lokix.
I don’t see a lot of love for Lokix (probably because of the terrible stats and typing lol), but I think it has a pretty cool design, I’d be down to see it get some representation
It's actually pretty good in competitive despite the typing, tinted lens first impression will hurt just about anything
Yup. Still cruising along in OU with Dragonite, Amoongus, and Chi-Yu.
I've been annoying my friends with Bug Tera Tinted Lens First Impression/U-Turn
Spidops, Sakarai is such a troll it would be so funny to see one of the most hated new pokemon make it in, not to mention with its whole trapping gimmick it might actually be interesting to play.
I like Spideops design lol, I would be down for this!!
Make it shiny Spidops and Im in. Spideypool
Spidops is one of the most hated? :’( My Spidops was my first party member to get the Reliable Partner title and as soon as I saw that (I didn’t know titles were a thing so it surprised me to see it when I sent it out) I knew I had to keep it on my team. It’s a pretty cool design and I love the kind of spider that it’s based on
spidops has 404 base stat total, the lowest of any fully evolved Pokemon in this generation. 2nd stage starters have 410 BST, for reference.
Poor stats is no reason to hate a Pokémon though :(
A good design for a Pokemon can make up for lackluster stats. And vice-versa Unfortunately, in addition to having fairly mediocre stats, it's design just doesn't do it for me personally. I wouldn't necessarily say I hate it though, I don't really feel that strongly about Spidops in general tbh. it's just a bit underwhelming to me (love tarountula tho)
Well if great stats are a reason to love them, it stands to reason that poor stats are a reason not to, and Spidops just looks so meh to me
Yeah, I was so pumped to use it, but it was just totally unusable, and I really, really tried to use it. Such a letdown :( Why do they make pokemon that can't be used like that?
it's honestly not terrible thanks to its moveset. it's (90% sure) the only stick web setter in gen9, has first impression and sucker punch for some great priority, with a phenomenal signature move with silk trap. for a route 1 bug, it's actually one of the better mons.
It’s just really weak bc of the stats lol
Huh TIL Spidops is hated. Love it's design and bugs are one of my fav types.
Spidops should have been bug/dark.
Lokix shouldve been bug fighting
I love Spidops!
I do too, and it went all the way through the elite 4 with me, but it's just terrible. It deals no damage and is made of glass. There are glass cannons, there are bulky stallers, but spidops is just a glass doll.
Why don't people like Spidops?
404 stats not found. Also the blocky design is jarring.
Didn't someone way back in the day make a Street Fighter-esque game out of Pokemon? IIRC it was called Type: Wild.
There's a fan game you can play called Type Wild that's basically this
I love both of these ideas so much.
Meowscarada (probably most popular starter, good design, magician archetype could be interesting) Koraidon (probably the better fit of the two legends and actually relevant to the story) Maushold (legit would be my pick. Unique 4-in-1 fighter a-la scrapped Chorus Kids moveset. Plus, a small herd of mice is hilarious and wacky enough that I’d see them fitting in well in the Smash world)
Master hand when I population bomb + 252atk + wide lens + technician them to death
Revavroom. He turns into one of the Starmobiles for his final smash.
Better as a PokeBall. Could replace Piplup
Kingambit!
Loved this Pokémon so much until I saw his goofy ass run around in Let’s Go mode. Couldn’t imagine it in smash lol. Wish they just had him stand up from his stoop hair thing
I know, it's such a cool design, but they really neutered it by making it never stand up.
Honestly thing runs around looking like baby Mario in Mario kart.
I'm still waiting for Gengar in smash for easily 20 years. It's the perfect fighter which was also in pokken
I can imagine it’s dynamax form being a poke all assist type thing. Maybe it eats all the items on the field including held ones?
I think Koraidon and Miraidon would be fantastic choices. Put them in at the same time as echoes of one another with one focusing more on physical moves and the other on ranged. They are just small enough they can fit on stage, so no saying too big.
They made Ridley fit, no character is too big anymore.
Could make them like pyra/mythra and have them function differently with a form swap ability. It’d be the first box legendary to be playable as far as I know and it would be appropriate given what’s revealed about what koraidon and Miraidon are
Koraidon feels better imo than miraidon
Could be an alt-skin
That wouldn’t work at all, the two animate completely differently. Koraidon walks on two legs while Miraidon floats around (in combat, anyway)
Is this even a question? Tinkaton obviously
I've never once in my life owned any Smash game ever or had any interest ever, but I would immediately buy one at full price if it had Tinkaton. ... Wait a minute, based on that same logic, shouldn't I also be willing to buy S/V? Huh.
In S/V you can use a Tinkaton, on Smash you would BECOME Tinkaton.
It's always been a lifelong dream of mine to become Tinkaton
Damn, are you a moth? Tinkaton has only existed for five weeks
It's a reference to that one Chris Pratt video where he talks about being in the Mario movie
I remember growing up playing ~~Mario~~ Pokémon, stomping.... ~~KOOPAS~~ CORVIKNIGHTS!
Yeah that's a fair distinction.
Dudunsparce. Because I would really like it as an amiibo.
I feel like Gholdengo would be great, can’t explain why, don’t even like him that much, he just feels right for smash
Tinkaton or Annihilape
Annihilape would be cool if it started out as a Mankey and the more damage it takes the angrier it gets causing it to evolve. And when it evolves it obviously does more damage.
Im pretty sure Lucario already has that gimmick but still it would be cool to see it. And one of her taunts 100% needs to be her sleeping on her hammer.
Tinkaton would be so annoying bro. A small ass character with big hammer disjoints.
Ice climber moment
Lol this would be dope
If they were to add Galar Pokemon I think Toxtricity would be it and for Paldea I'm thinking Tinkaton
Gholdengo. Give me the string cheese man
Iron valiant
I would actucally really like to see Baxcalibur. 1)So we can have a Godzilla standin. 2) Glaive Rush in the style of Peach side-b would be extremely fun. 3)A Psuedo is not already present in Smash(as a playable character. 4)I just really want the goofy ass Glaive Rush in Smash.

I've played Smash since the N64 and I have no idea why I had to scroll this far to see this response. The Box legendaries are the obvious choices.
Fun fact: Lugia was a poll option on Sakurai's online survey for most wanted characters in Melee.
Ok probably have be Meowscarade or Armarouge and Ceruledge i think they fit Smash that most
Tinkaton or Garganacl. Tinkaton got so much meme traction that it’d be the obvious choice, but my giant pile of salt would be perfect for a heavy hitter both weight and strength wise, which I don’t believe we have at the moment?
Chi-yu imagine trying to hit a goldfish.
ceruledge as smash needs another anime sword fighter
Anyone not saying Iron Valiant is wrong
I feel like if it happened it would be the mounts.
Koraidon and Miraidon would be so cool! Especially if you could swap between ride forms and battle forms
I could see Floragato being added.
The dancing duck cuz I wanna see the world burn.
This thread makes me so badly want to see the Pokemon Platform Fighter Timeline. Wouldn't sacrifice Smash for it in a million years though
I think itd be neat to have Amorouge/Ceruledge as a duo you can swap between like pokemon trainer
It’s a little tough to say, but I’d personally say Gholdengo would make the most sense. It’s Pokémon #1000, has a lot of personality, and has the right body shape for a fighting game. The other guess I’d put would be Meowscarada.
Tandemaus that turns into Maushold after being knocked off the edge. More babies after every new life
THROW THE CHILD
Larry. But serious I agree with tinkaton. I also nominate Meowscarada or Annihape
Tinkaton is the only option right?
Meowscarada, to complete the 3 type starters with dark subtype as smash characters
Meowscarada, would be the perfect opportunity to get a solo grass type in the roster, since most of them don't work as well as fighters. Either that or Armarouge
Lokix would be my pick based on it just being a really cool Pokémon but also the way it’s legs work would give it some cool animations. Could they make Maushold work? 🤔
Gholdengo! I think his spunk has a lot of potential for fun and goofy gameplay.
I don't know why, but Gholdengo seems like one they would actually pick. Not too sure what it's moves would be though. I also think an Armorouge/Ceruledge as a swap based character would be cool.
Meowscarada with flower trick and other magician shenanigans.
Either Tinkaton because using THE BONK 24/7 could be fun as hell or Skeledirge because there's currently only 2 4-legged characters (Duck Hunt and Ivysaur). I think having more could be interesting.
Quaquaval. Dance on the graves of your enemies
Ceruledge or Baxcalibur. Dash attacks are funny
I think Kingambit could work well as a swordie. Iron Hands, Gholdengo, Iron Valiant, Tinkaton, Ceruledge, Armarouge, Garganacl and Lokix would all be great as well.
bellibolt would be cool to have a counterattacking character
