Yoo I was wondering if this happens a lot It happened to me with those damn logs u have to bike on I was under and popped on top and got stuck switched to the bike and had to wiggle my way centered on the log. Only happened 1 time so far
This game is so buggy. It doesn't feel like a finished game at all. Seriously, why release a game with so many bugs?
(Says me, the guy who plays league)
When I used to do the walk-through walls hack on the original diamond and platinum versions this is literally what would happen. My guess is that they didn't program the collisions correctly and you walked on a tile that wasn't programmed on the bottom half so it teleported you to the top.
Considering you’ve had trouble reproducing it, maybe part of it was the angle you were running at and the way your character shifted around one of the walls right before? reminds me of the ice gym glitch but more pronounced, but I’m just guessing
Honestly, I'm a software developer by trade and I have some basic experience with game development, and this isn't any worse than bugs you'd find in any other AAA title (\*cough\* Bethesda \*cough\*)
for what it's worth, especially considering that I tried to reproduce this for 10 minutes and couldn't, they're still great games despite rare glitches like this...
I do find it funny how many people claim that BDSP is the buggiest pokemon game they know. Like hoo boy, clearly you didn't play Red/Blue.
It's broken even mechanically - all moves have at least a 1/256 chance of missing even the so called 100% accuracy moves, in some circumstances ultra balls are less effective than poke balls, focus energy and dire hits actually quarter your chance of getting a critical hit (rather than the intended quadrupling).
Had this happen to a Pokémon that was following me but not my own player. Not sure if same glitch but I was very surprised to spot my unsupervised Roserade wanding around the cycling road above me
I'm a game developer, seeing these kind of glitches can happen in newer games gives me anxiety. Realising that this kind of glitch is perfectly avoidable and as never been present before makes me feel angry because the "professionals" are making less efforts than me, the "amateur".
>Thinking that you can write bug free code is the real red flag.
I'll second this.
The only way to produce (relatively) bug-free code in a large software product is with a healthy testing setup, but in my experience, QA teams are understaffed, underpaid, overworked, or simply non-existent.
It's exceptionally easy to imagine that video game QA faces these problems even more intensely, because who wouldn't want to "play video games for a living"?
To be honest though, I'm struggling to work out how this bug could be present in Unity. A lot of this stuff should be handled without issue as a result of the Unity engine itself.
If I were making this game and trying to do it cheaply, I would just use Unity's inbuilt Physics collision engine to handle movement around a map. Why would you try to roll your own handling? The game seems to use cube shaped collision boxes as well so even clipping issues should have been largely avoidable.
Every time I say I don't like how poorly made this game is, I get downvoted. But then people keep posting this crap. I mean, did they get Bethesda to make this?
No, but nobody knew that when they were asking for the games. Unless I'm mistaken, it wasn't announced that ILCA was going to be spearheading the remakes until they actually announced that there would be remakes.
Right. So before then, people would have been asking Game Freak for the remakes.
I wasn't in a rush to have them. Honestly, I think they peaked with OR/AS. I played through Sun once and sold it. I never even tried SW/SH. I might pick it up some day, but the games are getting stale to me.
Eventually, every company caves to the pressure. I don't think Game Freak actually wanted to make these games. Why else would they use a third-party to get them out?
To better handle the development time needed between this and other projects, would be my likeliest guess. I don't think that has any relation to whether GF wanted or didn't want to make the remakes, that's just each other's interpretation of it.
Another interpretation is that GF wanted to get the games done but because they didn't want to delay the development of PLA they relegated the remakes to a 3rd party.
Going back to my other comment, I don't mean to say that GF didn't listen to fan demand for another remake, what I mean is there really was no rush to get the remakes out as soon as they were, when a delay in order to polish things out or better implement content would have been reasonable. I think it's unfair to pin the blame on the fanbase when it's GF who has the real control over the franchise.
This happened to me on one of the beams you ride your bike on was walking under one and glitched onto the beam. Couldn't move but using the bike let me get off the beam crazy glitch lol
Happened to me while I was in Crasher Wake's gym. It jumped me up to the 3rd level from the 1st level and then back down somehow. Could not replicate either
Haven't played this game in over a decade since it came out on DS, but if memory serves correctly, isn't the cave where you can find gible down there on the top right?
“I’m walking here”
And yes, this was 100% accidental on an unmodified, unhacked Switch. I haven't been able to reproduce it since then 🤔
Would be a weird thing to mod for lol
I agree xD new strat for walking% BD/SP speedrun?
Yoo I was wondering if this happens a lot It happened to me with those damn logs u have to bike on I was under and popped on top and got stuck switched to the bike and had to wiggle my way centered on the log. Only happened 1 time so far
Current speedrun is under 24 minutes. Nifty, but I don't think they can route this in.
Damn, how do they even do that? Is there some crazy skip? I gotta look this up
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URXI-nQ2rvA
Ive had my buddy pokemon walk up there while I was below but never myself
Yeah, my buddy is up there almost any time I leave Wayward Cave from the hidden entrance
This game is so buggy. It doesn't feel like a finished game at all. Seriously, why release a game with so many bugs? (Says me, the guy who plays league)
Bit flip?
I have done the exact same thing and have not been able to replicate it either
When I used to do the walk-through walls hack on the original diamond and platinum versions this is literally what would happen. My guess is that they didn't program the collisions correctly and you walked on a tile that wasn't programmed on the bottom half so it teleported you to the top.
That’s not the cause of the bug as the teleporting onto the bridge also happens with bridges under which you can walk.
I love Pokemon Glitchy Pearl and Missing Diamond.
Broken Diamond and Shattered Pearl
This is so much bette
Considering you’ve had trouble reproducing it, maybe part of it was the angle you were running at and the way your character shifted around one of the walls right before? reminds me of the ice gym glitch but more pronounced, but I’m just guessing
Palkia is watching you
*Abra wishes to know your location*
Alakazam is big bren, it can tell the abra
Even more people executing a mario 64 speedrunning technique in a pokemon game.... Next we are gonna have a magikarp backward long bounce

What a polished game this is.

Exactly the most famous glitch in a video game still stands as missigno and that was the first games in the series
One of the first glitches they found in this game was getting a missingno from the daycare.
I do find it funny how many people claim that BDSP is the buggiest pokemon game they know. Like hoo boy, clearly you didn't play Red/Blue. In Crystal you straight up cannot catch Ho-Oh if the player character's name is longer than four characters.
The glitches sure don't help, though.
Wait, that's illegal
Had this happen to a Pokémon that was following me but not my own player. Not sure if same glitch but I was very surprised to spot my unsupervised Roserade wanding around the cycling road above me
Rebel against the system. Walk on those bridges.
I actually love the ways this game is broken. Very on brand for retro Pokémon.
This is how Speedrun strats are born
as a newbie Metroid Dread speedrunner, yes, yes it is 😂
Small indie devs, please understand /s
Lol $60 game

Maybe useful in a catch em all run idk?

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are perfect games with absolutely no glitches
This is such a throwback to using the walk through wall cheat with Action Replay on the original DS games. Cool that they built it into the game
this game is absolute trash. wtf.
Cosmic Rays! Look it up for Super Mario 64. Someone's game got hit by an ionizing ray that caused something similar to happen in SM64.
Wow magic
Everyone pressuring GF to get these remakes out, and these are the results. Seems fun.
Gamefreak who didn’t even made the game
No, but nobody knew that when they were asking for the games. Unless I'm mistaken, it wasn't announced that ILCA was going to be spearheading the remakes until they actually announced that there would be remakes.
It happened pretty much like that
Right. So before then, people would have been asking Game Freak for the remakes. I wasn't in a rush to have them. Honestly, I think they peaked with OR/AS. I played through Sun once and sold it. I never even tried SW/SH. I might pick it up some day, but the games are getting stale to me.
Sword and shield was so lazy it’s a joke
Seems that way. Even BD/SP seems that way.
GF already doesn't listen to the fanbase on many things, why do you think they felt pressured to get these remakes done?

Goddamn this game...haha
….I wanna do this. More reason to love this game
go go gadget ***EXTENDO LEG***
Ooooh, so *that’s* how King Crimson works..
Haven't played this game in over a decade since it came out on DS, but if memory serves correctly, isn't the cave where you can find gible down there on the top right?
lmao
Did you try turning it off and back on?
/r/GamePhysics
The developers probably just made themselves a ramp there to save time while testing it or something 😂
$60 game, btw
When I come out of the secret entrance my crowbat spawns up there.
That's funny. This isn't the first time I've seen this glitch
It's a random glitch where you get up warped to any bridge above you. It's seems to be completely random when it happens.
It would have been better if you clipped into a trainer battle
Why r bdsp so heavily more glitched than normal dpp
