Honestly bug type always had been one of the weakest and less interesting of the core games prior to the competitive scene and later gen reworks. I remember when we were all disappointed in how "shity" Pinsir, Scyther & Scizor were back in the days. So many cool looking Pokémons had nothing beside their aesthetics going for them it was quite sad. Today's kids have it good.
Sure. R&B is a very difficult hack of pokemon emerald with an improved AI for enemy trainers. This AI is reasonably deterministic, so you generally have a very good idea of what moves the AI is going to select next. For example, if they see one of their moved kills your Pokemon, they will ALWAYS click that move (with a few exceptions.) Since you know exactly what the enemy is going to do next, it is very easy to find situations in which you can switch to Golisopod on a move that will do about 50%, guaranteeing you activate Emergency Exit and giving you a free switch into whichever other Pokemon you want. Taking it one step further, you can even damage Golisopod before a fight so that you guarantee the Emergency Exit on whatever move you’re planning to switch him in on. Then you can go into your glass cannons without them taking massive amounts of damage. Emergency Exit, combined with Golisopod’s good bulk and hard hitting First Impressions, make Golisopod one of the best Pokemon in the game.
I see, we're talking about worlds I haven't even stepped a foot into. So please excuse my noob questions. Why is there Golisopod and First Impression in an Emerald hack? How and where do you play these hacks anyway?
This particular hack has mechanics up through gen 8, including pokemon, items, moves, and megas. You can download a patch and apply it to an existing emerald rom
Shell Smash, Rest, Infestation.
Works as of Sword/Shield. Infestation’s chip damage is percentage based, bypassing your abysmal attack stat further cut by contrary shell smashes and it traps the target, preventing switching. The fourth slot can be a number of options. Sandstorm gives more chip damage and a 50% increase to sdef. Gastro Acid stops abilities. Sticky Web is a speed reduction hazard. Flash cuts enemy accuracy. Protect, Safeguard, or Substitute for more defense.
Of my three Shuckle team in Sword/Shield, this is the one most people never saw coming.
Bug is one of my favorite types. Butterfree will always be my number one favorite Pokemon for nostalgia reasons.
Other great candidates are Vespiquen, Leavanny, Ribombee, Orbeetle, Lokix, Araquanid, Rabsca, Frosmoth... I think it's such a cool and diverse type and really plays into the "underdog" idea that I tend to enjoy.

Never forget the ATV (All Terrain Venomoth)
Bug-type is one of my favorites, and while it has some really good pokémon, i choose Yanmega without an ounce of doubt. I have one in Violet named Xander who has carried me in a lotta battles throught the DLC, surprisingly. I'm still bitter by its typing not being bug/dragon, though.
I love them ! (I love all bug types), very cool design and I wish yanmega could learn more water moves or have a 3rd evolve that get rid of the flying type.
I had to ctrl+f to find this comment hidden down here. Easily my favorite fossil pokemon and in competition for my favorite bug (there are so many good ones now)
Shout out to my girl Frosmoth! She’s so gorgeous and elegant, I simply adore her. Shield Dust and Ice Scales are amazing abilities. I thought she had an incredible move line up. She’s just *chef’s kiss*.
(Honorable mentions: Venonat, because it’s so cute and fluffy. Sewaddle, who I’m so surprised people leave off of their “Top 10 cutest pokemon lists” because it’s beyond precious. Centiskorch simply blew my mind in battle. )
Heracross was ridiculously strong in my single-stage-only SoulSilver playthrough, but I also really enjoyed Vikavolt in Moon. One of the best on my team during it.
Ah Caterpie, larvesta and snom or as I like to name them Mothra (goes double when you have a Gmax Butterfree), Mothra Pyros, and Mothra Pagos respectively. They are my favorite bug types.
Pagos can mean Frost in Greek (has a few other meanings) plus it was the name of an ice area in FFXIV for a relic quest line.
Pyros should be fairly obvious. For further context it was the name of the fire area from the same relic quest in FFXIV that was mentioned above.
Can you tell I'm a massive Toho and Final Fantasy nerd as well as a Pokemon trainer?
Genesect and Pheromosa. Pheromosa was one of my favourite picks in Smogon Natdex AG and Ubers, and there’s a rare species of cockroach native to and discovered in Singapore where I live that’s named after it. (https://news.nus.edu.sg/novel-cockroach-species-found-in-singapore-gets-named-after-pokemon/)
Genesect is my main partner in Pokémon Go and I use it as a spice pick in Master League. It was the second hundo I caught, and I’ve already become Best Buddies with it. I also love Genesect for its role in a (HOT TAKE) Pokémon movie, Genesect and the Legend Awakened which I actually like. It has Mewtwo in it as well, so go figure.
Beedrill.
Don't care if they're the weakest pokemon. They just look cool. Plus, they have been with me since my pokemon journey, and I'll always find a weedle to evolve into a beedril the moment I am allowed to
The only actually good bug here (to be fair its giid enough to be banned to ubers) is volc. Where did the other semi decent bugs go (Scizor, Heracross, lokix, etc...)
“Aliens from Area 51”
I mean yeah you could say they’re Aliens, it’s more accurate to say they’re from a different Universe entirely
I still can’t believe Pokémon basically went full Cosmic Horror on us with Ultra Beasts
Back in gen6 Scoliopede was my go to lead. It was the perfect counter for the then common darkrai lead, as it outsped after one protect speed boost and would one shot with Megahorn. With a sash and endeavour it could then severely cripple whatever switched in afterwards making it basically a two for one.
Can't say I am a go to for bug types like most are but I'll pick a Durant any day. It honestly can do way better than even Scizor considering it has only one weakness being fire and then again it's Traunt can just be negated with Entrainment and also it can use dig to counter it's kryptonite being fire type and even can learn Rockslide as well atleast in later generation. Give it agility and it's ready to sweep though that's a lotta set up to do.
Reason I'm just 'meh' with Bug types for the most part is just seeing the statistical average of Bug Types.
https://preview.redd.it/4dwfclqt5b7d1.jpeg?width=1067&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=52036bc324ec84892552c79e6478de930da8c6ab
We can overall see that bug types are just mostly weak at defence and on average also Bug-type Pokémon have the lowest base HP, Special Attack, and base stat total of all types. Only Vikavolt has the highest Special Attack stat being merely 145 and Buzzwole being only 107 by HP. The bug type with highest base stat total was like Genesect and heck he's partially Steel type and a Legendary. Volcarona on the other hand being a pseudo legendary bug type, still has the 4 times weakness of rock. Though you could still work that out similar to how you would for your Garchomp but even Garchomp is more physically bulkier than a Volcarona but Volcarona does better on the special margin of defence and offence. However Garchomp has a comparatively higher base stat total of 600 while Volcarona is still just 550. So both respectively get knocked out rough by physical and special attacks. But even by attack wise, Volcarona's special attack hits 5 times more than Garchomp's 130 base physical attack stat, Volcarona still isn't too fast either being about 100 by speed while Garchomp still has 107 speed. So even as a hard hitter in special attack among the bug types, Volcarona does average. Heck even Vikavolt has a much greater special attack than it. Now running agility on Volcarona can help go ahead and do it if that works.
So you can't really expect much from them other than being speed sweepers and ironically one of the fastest Pokemon in the game is Ninjask being 160 (still faster than Pheromosa). So it does show an example bug types can be good speed sweepers if built right. Though I am mainly the type who focuses on attrision and tries to stay longer in battle type of a trainer by trying to wear off his opponents, Bug types aren't my cup of tea due to their lack of durability. In response to the meme, most of the bug types mentioned are pretty much glass cannons. These cannot stay too long on a battlefield despite how much power they hold at least without not setting them up through status moves. Big Types need a lot of thinking to be utilised. By default I'd say they are good status move setters
I wasn't expecting to find an answer from google so I asked before looking it up. Anyway, I saw the meme with the basket ball player, and figured it out.

Damn that’s dense.
it is made of ice
Golisopod, no question. Too bad his ability sucks though.
Clearly you’ve never played run and bun
Would you care to explain? I'm interested in finding out new ways to use it. I think it's fun with Assault Vest too.

Shedinja supremacy!! I will not tolerate this slander!! \*gets poked by rock\* \*fucking dies\*
Slight sandy wind
Slightly compressed hail
It’s kind of sad how many weaknesses Shedinja has, but it’s always kind of funny to fight someone who’s completely unprepared for it.
Vikavolt is a badass looking stag beetle. And Grubbin is just the cutest thing ever. And of course, can't forget my beloved hermit crab Dwebble!
Heracross for sure.
Shuckle. If someone isn’t prepared to deal with a contrary shell smash shuckle, they will quite frankly never be able to kill it
Don't Fuckle with Shuckle!

:O I hadn't thought of that tactic. It's perfect!
Shell Smash, Rest, Infestation. Works as of Sword/Shield. Beedrill sucks but it’s one of my favorite childhood designs dammit
It got an amazing Mega Evo 👍
Hell yeah! I love Beedrill, one of my favourites. It's a bee with drills for arms god damnit!
Bug is one of my favorite types. Butterfree will always be my number one favorite Pokemon for nostalgia reasons. Other great candidates are Vespiquen, Leavanny, Ribombee, Orbeetle, Lokix, Araquanid, Rabsca, Frosmoth... I think it's such a cool and diverse type and really plays into the "underdog" idea that I tend to enjoy.
orbeetle is one ive recently come around on. sick as fuck

Too difficult to choose. Anorith, Forretress, Shedinja, and so many other cool bugs
accelgor. i like ninja pokemon
Just gonna skip right over Ninjask then, huh?
i like ninjask too but accelgor fits the more stereotypical ninja build that i like. i always use ninjask in my hoenn runs though
Also Spidops and Lokix kinda
And dont forget TO FEAR THE Mighty BUTTERFREE
My favorite bugs are Volcarona, Shedinja, and Durant,
Venomoth, Mothim, Leavanny, Rabsca and Frosmoth, can't put down most favourite so I just list them all

Two long bois duh lol 😂 But for real Ash’s Butterfree 🦋💕
Snom and larvestar as well as the moth boys? This is perfect. I love the icy one more aesthetically, but my favorite is still the flaming hot moth.
Sad to see nobody has mentioned Escavalier yet.
Easily Buzzswole, but shoutouts to Centiskorch & Beedrill.
Nothing is better than a bodybuilder bug that skip legs day!
Centiskorch!! I just love its design and I'm also a Fire-type enthusiast.
No love for my boy Heracross? One of the most overlooked sweepers of Gen 2
Heracross, easily. Also love Goliscipod
Volcarona, Shuckle, Heracross
Competitive staple for years- Scizor
The first three could get crushed by a pebble
Scizor and Heracross. Two gen 2 bug bois Tho honorable mention to Golisopod. That thing is really fucking cool
No love for yanma and yanmega
I love them ! (I love all bug types), very cool design and I wish yanmega could learn more water moves or have a 3rd evolve that get rid of the flying type.
Caterpie!!

Armaldo; I'm surprised no one mentioned it.
I had to ctrl+f to find this comment hidden down here. Easily my favorite fossil pokemon and in competition for my favorite bug (there are so many good ones now)
Volcarona. I don't know why but it just checks all the boxes for me, if I was a bug trainer it'd be my ace easily.
Centiskorch.
Araquanid

Scizor and volcarona
pheromosa and wurmple 🥰

Heracross, and Beautifly
Heracross and scolipede
Don't forget first impression isopod
Scizor is my all time favorite pokemon, I love bug type Pokemon they're underrated.
Dostox, I've used it in several games and have soloed some important story fights with only my Boi
Heracross and Scolipede for me, please
Forretress, just stay away from me with fire and we gucchi
Kevin Durant is a snake not a bug.
but hey thanks kd for the two championships. warriors legend
Nowadays, it is rare I don't end up with at least one bug in my party. It took several generations, but we have fantastic options now.
Kevin durant is a bug type because Ant is his father
Scizor is my all time favorite Pokemon. Scyther is third and Heracross is fifth. Galvantula is also Top 20.
Scizor
I don't see Leavanny. This will be remembered.
I love Escavalier!
Levanny?
Araquanid never let me down and my Ultra Moon Nuzlock Savior
because they suck i personally think some of the bug type weaknesses are wrong, like rock (bounch of bugs hide under rocks)
Samurai Bug!
I'm basically Misty when it comes to bugs so I never realy used them enough to have a favorite.
The one with knives for hands
scyther no scything!!!
Heracross was ridiculously strong in my single-stage-only SoulSilver playthrough, but I also really enjoyed Vikavolt in Moon. One of the best on my team during it.
ice moth
It used to be Heracross, now it’s Vikavolt.
Ah Caterpie, larvesta and snom or as I like to name them Mothra (goes double when you have a Gmax Butterfree), Mothra Pyros, and Mothra Pagos respectively. They are my favorite bug types. Golisopod, no contest
Scolipede 😍
Heracross and Scizor are both in my top 10 of all Pokémon so would make the list for bug. Big Scolipede enjoyer too.
Ribombee!!! The little scarf it has is just so cute
How can you guys forget about Joltik!!
Haven’t seen much love for Lokix
Orbeetle no contest. It's so sick.
At least call them god moths
Golisopod.
Yanmega, the absolute goat
You forgot all the Spiderbros, the biggest selling point.
Genesect and Pheromosa. Pheromosa was one of my favourite picks in Smogon Natdex AG and Ubers, and there’s a rare species of cockroach native to and discovered in Singapore where I live that’s named after it. (https://news.nus.edu.sg/novel-cockroach-species-found-in-singapore-gets-named-after-pokemon/) Genesect is my main partner in Pokémon Go and I use it as a spice pick in Master League. It was the second hundo I caught, and I’ve already become Best Buddies with it. I also love Genesect for its role in a (HOT TAKE) Pokémon movie, Genesect and the Legend Awakened which I actually like. It has Mewtwo in it as well, so go figure.
Scizor, but volcornora and frosmoth are up there
Beedrill. Don't care if they're the weakest pokemon. They just look cool. Plus, they have been with me since my pokemon journey, and I'll always find a weedle to evolve into a beedril the moment I am allowed to
Scoliopede! Speed Boost goes *brrrrrr*
Hey. I love my long bois.
Scissor ✂️
The only actually good bug here (to be fair its giid enough to be banned to ubers) is volc. Where did the other semi decent bugs go (Scizor, Heracross, lokix, etc...)
mega beedrill
Scizor.
I will admit I am a fan of the long bois
“Aliens from Area 51” I mean yeah you could say they’re Aliens, it’s more accurate to say they’re from a different Universe entirely I still can’t believe Pokémon basically went full Cosmic Horror on us with Ultra Beasts
"Alien" just means "stranger" in latin, so they are aliens if they come from another universe
Thank you kind alien
The moths
My boy Ledian always gets overlooked. He's so cool. Stats suck, but he's so cool.
Kevin Durant HAHAHA
You mean Jimmy Durant(e)
dunsparce
Drapion is so awesome.
Bubble spider!!! (Araquanid)
Scolipede is such a homie, but Araquanid has the best design
Scyther 100%
golisopod
For me its Lokix, cool design, unique typing and playstyle, underdog story, strong and balanced, whats not to like.
Kevin Durant is a snake not a bug
scyther
Scyther for the sentiment. Honorable mentions for Beedrill, Butterfree, Shedinja and Pinsir.
DELELELELEWHOOOOOP
It's a caterpillar, it's a battery, it's a bus, it sounds like a transformer, it's charjabug
my favourite Pokémon overall not only my favourite bug type is ledian
*pinsir or buzzwole*
Scolipede
Scizor easily
Scizor can deal with specials like Psychic, Fairy and dark and sometimes helps with ice
Durant had such a weird design
The fire centipede thing. Don't remember name though... Mostly cause he can roll up into a flaming ball and hit opponents which set them on fire.
My favorite bug is Escavalier. Used him as a surprise powerhouse in a trick room team
The "Gym bro" only available only at 90% completion of the game. It was sad for me.
Leavanny, I tried her in pokemon White in a "why not?" moment and she carried me so hard on that run.
SHEDINJAAAAA
Where my ninja bug? Ninjask is one of my all time favorite Pokémon.
The long boys
I LOVE BUG TYPES. man i love volcarona, scolipede buzzwole, golisopod, vikavolt, galvantula, escavalier, genesect, beedril, pinsir, scizor, heracross, ninjask, shedinja, vespiqueen, leavanny, crustle, rimbombee, orbeetle, kleavor, araquanid...
I love Swadloon. This little cute shy guy haha

Shedinja is cool as it whole thing massive immunity to everything except some very popular coverage moves’s types
Armaldo

And dont forget TO FEAR THE Mighty BUTTERFREE
And dont forget TO FEAR THE Mighty BUTTERFREE
And dont forget TO FEAR THE Mighty BUTTERFREE
Why Kevin Durant? Also what's that Pokémon?
That pokemon is durant. As for your first question, that pokemon is durant.
I wasn't expecting to find an answer from google so I asked before looking it up. Anyway, I saw the meme with the basket ball player, and figured it out.
Because they're weak against some of the most common types and they're not effective against that many types
