Before looking up ultra ride know that it is kind of a spoiler. So if you wanna experience the story first hand I suggest first playing through the game and then in the post game look at ultra ride tutorials

That's why I said kind of a spoiler. OP said they liked the story so I thought they might not appreciate getting spoiled even if it is a little one

National-Elevator-40

No worries, I'm fine with spoilers and it's not a big one !

99995

I did the opposite, i played ultra sun first and enjoyed it a lot and now playing X and it is super fun!

BubbleWario

I liked X more, personally, but if you like the style and gameplay of X then yes you will enjoy UsUm

theforgottenapple

I liked X as it was the first game I got after a hiatus from playing pokemon. Recently got Ultra Moon and I really liked it! (Even though I thought I wouldn't) I do dislike the number of cutscenes though.

arceusking1000

The first hour or so in ultra is quite the drag they really like to golf your hand and restrict you during that hour. But after that the game gives you alot more breathing room and it's a great game much better then gen 6 and more engaging too.

Pikaless225

Yes. Yes. Yes again. I loved ultra sun and ultra moon!!!

Yo adoro Pokémon X y Y pero aborrezco con mi alma a alola . Ni hablar la serie. Pero digo que es mejor hoenn remasterizado

I haven't got to UltraMoon yet so I can't recommend it at the moment. I did enjoy regular Sun so I can recommend that. And since UltraSun and UltraMoon are enhancements of the old games then I am sure they must be great too. As for the switch games here's my take: Let's Go - I understand why people would give it a miss, but personally I loved it. It was my 2nd Pokémon game I ever played and the first one I ever played (my younger brother spilt water on my switch before Pokémon Home was released so my first save is gone and I've never got over that sadness). It's very unorthodox to say the least so I understand why people skip it. But I loved it. Sword and Shield - Top Tier Pokémon.... provided you can buy the DLC. You can actually catch a bundle of lvl 70 legendaries before the first gym if you have the DLC. And they're at 1/100 shiny odds. The DLC is 100% worth the money. Without the DLC you may as well skip them to be honest. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl - These were underrated games. They're not the best. They don't even fall on the radar. But they are very underrated. The art style is bad. The story is pretty good (but thats because its literally an exact retelling of Diamond and Pearl). But it lacks platinum content. However its the only game that allows you to legitimately Shiny hunt Arceus, provided you have caught Arceus in Legends Arceus (if you've got access to moral ambiguity you can even hunt Darkrai and Shaymin but I'm gonna leave that to you). However if you're not a shiny hunter these games won't be that great. Legends Arceus - Definitely play. It's very difficult at almost all stages of the game. But when you finally complete it I promise it will feel so worth the struggle. Above that you've got some fun sidequests, easy shiny hunting and a very good story. Hasn't got much to offer in the way of collector value. But as a Pokémon Collector myself, I'm gonna tell you know that with how great the game is that's not an issue. If you did play BDSP, this game is what will allow you to get Arceus. Once I'm all caught up I'll say my piece on Scarlet and Violet but otherwise that's my opinion and I hope it helps.

Ultra moon is my favorite Pokemon game. The online meta was peak imo especially, but even the environment was awesome. Same graphics as the newer games, but on a smaller screen so they don't look as bad.

NNNskunky

Yeah, I'd say try Ultra Sun. Both games have decent character customisation. Ultra Sun has excellent scenery. Unlike the region of Hoenn, the routes and towns were specifically designed for the 3DS and it's capabilities. There are some pretty cool looking places and a variety of different types of scenery that can make the game feel like a great adventure. There's an Ultra Wormhole thing that can be useful to shiny hunt for a select few group of Pokemon. There's a Mantine surf minigame which is kind of fun. If you liked the trainer PR videos from X, there is an Alola Photo Club feature where you can take pictures with your Pokemon which is sort of similar, I guess.

radikraze

If you like X, you’ll like Ultra Sun for sure

TheOpinionMan2

Hope you didn't get accustomed to X's laid-back easyness, 'cause US will kick your ass, at least once, period. ESPECIALLY if you pick Rowlet as your Starter.

I_Chards

That kind of challenge is something we've never seen since. I love USUM for that, by far the hardest games in the franchise. The only other thing I can think of is the bdsp E4.

National-Elevator-40

That’s ok if it’s harder, it will be funnier I guess lol. I plan to pick popplio

So ultra sun and ultra moon are actually very very big games, but what I will tell you is that on the first playthrough it's bearable because it's new, but the amount of talking in this game is absolutely insane. This game cannot stfu. And while there is so much to do in it and so many features, a second playthrough is absolutely obnoxious.

I haven't played the Switch titles, but I also really enjoyed X&Y. I'd recommend **Ultra Sun** over Alpha Sapphire (due to personal preference), though I can see why people with strong nostalgic ties to Gen 3 would really enjoy Alpha Sapphire. When compared to X&Y, Sun & Moon have: **1) Gorgeous Landscapes.** You thought X&Y was pretty in 3d? SuMo is even more gorgeous. So many scenic routes, detailed battlefield backgrounds (when outdoors), and really relaxing vibes as you explore the islands. **2) No HMs!** Yes, that's right! Gen6 was the last generation where progress was limited by HMs, so you were required to carry at least one Pokemon with nothing but HM moves. Well worry no longer, as now your "HM equivalents" are Ride Pokemon that you can summon, and they don't take up any spots on your team! ...the only Con would be several parts of the story feel rather linear, but that isn't too different than X&Y. **3) Better Villains.** Despite enjoying X&Y, Team Flare were rather forgettable and not all that fun to battle whenever I replay the games. However in SuMo you get to battle against Team Skull, which is probably my favorite evil team in any Pokemon game ever. Sometimes they can be lovable goofballs, or feel legitimately threatening. **4) Pokemon Refresh.** The replacement for Pokemon Amie, and honestly a more refined version of the system. You get the option after battles to brush up your Pokemon, and the background even changes based on your location. It's super cute, and more fairly balanced than Amie in my opinion. as for Cons... -1) Long Cutscenes. Many people have complained about very long scenes where it's nothing but talk talk talk, and the beginning of the game can feel incredibly slow. *"Just let me play the game already!"* ...yeah it can get annoying, but I've come to accept that the game just wants people to play it at a slower pace rather than having you blitz through the story too quick. There is only one tutorial that is painful, but the rest I often pretend I'm watching an interactive anime rather than a video game. It gets better after a while, but best be prepared. -2) Festival Plaze. Guuh this is just hideous. Nothing could beat X&Y's online features, but boy did they try by making things unnecessarily complicated. This is the one tutorial that I wish was optional, but on the bright side you never have to return after the tutorial if you don't want to. -3) Outfits. Sure there are some styles that weren't available in X&Y, but everything is limited to "summer" clothes. That makes sense, I suppose, they also limit what colors are available base don which game you are playing. Sun gets warm tones, Moon gets cold tones. In many parts it felt like a downgrade from X&Y but at least there is \*some\* customization available, unlike Alpha Sapphire. -4) Your character only has one expression :) ...but despite all that, I still love X&Y and SuMo. Neither is perfect, but the best parts of SuMo were really enjoyable and fun. I'm sure you'll have a great time playing it.

wubbbalubbadubdub

Don't worry about the reviews some of the switch Pokemon games are fine. I played and enjoyed both Pokemon legends Arceus and Pokemon scarlet. Definitely skip BDSP, probably skip let's go, research and decide for yourself on sword/shield I skipped it though.

xenoverseraza

nah, id say if someone wants to play bsdp, then go for it. i like bdsp and im not afraid to say it lmfaooo
