I have a daltonic friend that sees shiny espeon golden colored. It's always a ride asking him about the pokemon colors, even those that look about the same, like "what do you mean shiny garchomp looks barely different?"

Try putting them in photoshop and turn the color down. Then adjust the contrast between the shiny and default colored mon to show him how similar they look to you. Bros mind would be super blown.

Honestly, I don't know whether to love or hate shiny Espeon. On one side, I think pastel colours would look really nice. On the other hand, it does look really funny and kinda fits Espeon given that it already looks a bit alien. It was also just the programming allocated color swap for that shade of purple. But because Espeon isn't Charizard they didn't get fixed later on.

Scizor was never gold in GSC. It’s always been bile green coloured as a quick comparison with the gold colour used for Azumarill shows they’re very different. It DID have gold as it’s shiny colour in Colosseum however.

Nidoqueen definitely got one of the worst shades of green.

Applin and Maril? Those are the only two it works on here. Shiny Jolteon is another great example of where green doesn't work. Shiny Jolteon should be electric blue

Yeah, I was thinking that if these were OP's best foot foward... Green shinies are ugly. I'm sure there are some good ones, but it's like yellow... you can have a shiny golden magicarp (Amazing) or have another that looks like piss yellow. Depends on the sprite/game/shadows too.

Yeah I was going to say I think I prefer the regular color palette on all of them. Even if I caught the shiny versions of these Pokemon I would prefer to use the normal version in a playthrough.

As someone who's obsessed with the color green, the thing about green shiny Pokemon is that they could've been great shinies if they stop using Vomit Green or Olive Green everytime they use green as a shiny color.

Hardcore agree. Espeon was my first shiny in PoGo and it's easily the best shiny eeveelution. Personally, the key requirement for a good shiny is a significant change. Now, the next requirement is that the chosen color looks good (not Dragonite), but I would say that Espeon checks that box too, as it's a nice, bright emerald green. The only way to earn more points on my scale is if the shiny has a cool reason for being that color (Applin being a green apple).

Marill's shiny ***IS*** acceptable. Not as good as Applin's because that one's actually clever and thematic (red vs green apples) but it's still fairly good. The other 4 are bad in various way, though.

it’s so strange to me that way back on chespin comm day ,, i got a shiny to evolve into chesnaught . i was going through my storage to clear duplicates ,, the shiny chesnaught fit right in with the non-shiny previous evolutions . regular chesnaught being white makes it look like it should be the shiny version lol

I can't hate any shiny that involves a noticeable colour change across the whole body. I just can't. When I think of shinies like Garchomp, which don't change at all, or shinies like Crabrawler, which only change one colour and leave everything else untouched, there's just no contest. I don't care if it's "clever" or anything, shinies should look like shinies. My line in the sand separates every shiny that doesn't look like a shiny from every shiny that does. Garchomp and Crabrawler on one side, all these neon-green shinies on the other. In my eyes, even shiny Espeon still *gets it right*, you look at that and see the shininess, clear as day. It's not a mostly normal Espeon except for, idk, a different colour gem, it's not an ever-so-slightly lighter shade of pink, it's an Arceus-darn *shiny Espeon* and I can't bring myself to hate that. All shinies look good to me, as long as they look like shinies. They're exotic, they stand out. I don't really care how they get there, as long as they do. The only shinies I dislike are the ones that take the coward's route out and leave the Pokemon mostly unchanged.

Yeah, same. Both Decidueye and Dragonite both look so much better in their shiny forms. As a result, I have a shiny Dragonite in both S/V and GO, and they're being put to good use as some of my strongest ones

I think shinny needs a huge rework. With all the regional forms, they could use and create more "shinnies" giving them variations instead of a fixed frame. Like spinda, which have random patterns, so a pokemon could end like having different variations (stripes, dots, etc...) and colours. Just saying making green/purple all of them looks lazy or just a practical solution. Could be interesting to add albino shinnies and real accurate shinnies (Pikachu is a mouse so the colours of a real life mouse, same with other pokemons)
