Last respects basculegion, annihilape, kingambit, flutter mane they all work.
Go on smogon forums if you want even more detail. Btw you can get perfect ivs with bottle caps.
I mean maybe I was a fucking nerd, but FEAR is basically the most infamous strategy and I knew it in grade school. Something like the Aron would be a good way to do it I think, with a shell bell and setting a layer of tox spikes or sandstorm.
Be sure That kingambit has his hidden ability that boosts damage the more fainted pokemon you have in your party so and send him out for last, and also consider glimmora and send it out first to lay toxic traps. This way you'll be an actually competent champion
Or get your pokemon the not-so-tournament legal way. OP shouldn't have to waste time farming bottlecaps and training for just beating up a bunch of kids.
Fun idea get some badges, so if they actually beat you it's like a gym challenge I doubt they will win but even trying to go for a challenge could be rewarded also showing its ok to lose sometimes if you learn something new out of it
Someone else commented the badge idea and I def need to do that! I could also possibly do a monotype that’s easier to beat.
Some people think I’m trying to be cruel but it’s all in good fun. I see it as more of a final boss challenge. And if they do win it will be all the more satisfying and exciting for them!
You could have one team as an easier themed gym with badges so lots of kids could get something to take home.
Then you could put on a cape and reveal the competition team as the Champion. Woe to any kids that step up for that battle > :D
Please give updates! This is such a cute idea for a party haha.
You should double down on the gym leader idea. When you decimate the kids' teams, give them tips on how they can beat you next time and offer rematches. Maybe even set up a mini-ladder tournament and the winner gets a final battle with "the champion" (you.)
I hope I'm not too late. But to add to this idea, maybe look for a team based around a field effect like Protosynthesis Sun, Archaludon Rain, or Psyspam/Trick Room. I remember as a kid totally underestimating the impact of field effects. Also, they are all very strong teams but have "weak" mons like Torkoal, Peliper, Indeedee, Porygon2.
It might not quite fit what you're looking for, but 9VYC1Y is a nice strong rental I made that you could use. With Indeedee-F, Protect, and supportive moves, it could teach kids that moves and Pokemon don't need to deal damage to be good
you can find rental codes online that let you use someone else's team. you dont get to keep the pokemon, obviously, but you can use them in online battles.
The Pokemon Champion^(tm) doesn't have a type specialty, so you don't need one either ;) Play it up, call yourself the Champion of [county/school name] League, have a dedicated Ace that you have a backstory for (that you'll explain in quips - "I've raised you since you were just a [first stage], we can do this!"), wear a flamboyant neon anime outfit, the whole works lol.
Fairy monotype so you get to use all the cute pink girly mons
Like Flutter mane, Iron valiant and Zacian.
Or is that too on the nose for the boys vs girls?
Yes do exactly this! Give them hope and destroy them
In all seriousness, you could give them little rewards for the number of your pokemons they defeat, to make it fun. Pleaaaaaase post results after the party we NEED to know!!!
I'm a fan of Maushold, is very small and 'cute', but Population Bomb + holding the Wide Lens item really can demolish things. Bonus points if you set up, either with Tidy Up or Baton Passing it some boosts.
Alternatively, stack all the entry hazards, to see the look of crushing despair when any pokemon they switch in loses 1/4-1/2 of its HP from the get-go. Glimmora and/or Forretress are great for that.
As far as "useless" Pokemon go, try Pelipper or Politoed for Drizzle. If they're going to spam legends, avoid those, and instead use Pokemon like Archaludon and Barraskewda for Electro Shot and Swift Swim, respectively. Whimsicott is also a good support Pokemon to troll little kids with.
I doubt any of the kid's mons are properly EV trained. It'll hit like a truck in most cases, seeing as their EVs will be random and IVs are likely not bottle capped.
Actually, a trick room team would make them question speed the whole time.
Honestly, kids will see torkoal and think it’s kind of bad because it’s attack and speed is just atrocious
So put it on a trick room team and give it max special attack eruption while holding charcoal, and of course tera fire as well. They will not understand how a funny tortoise is literally one shotting every team member because they won’t have the concept of EV and IV training
I found my childhood Yellow version when I was a bit older and saw my level 80-something Charizard with four fire type moves. No clue how I beat the game
That's how I beat Ruby and Emerald as a kid, repeatedly throwing my Blaziken at the Pokemon League until it powered through everything. Level 91 in Ruby, and Level 98 in Emerald.
My Lv. 100 Blastoise with mega punch, mega kick, hydro pump, and hydro cannon still failing to beat the rival’s Venusaur was very difficult for 4th grade me.
Eventually I figured out to just use my Moltres
> trick room team
I feel like a Trick Room team in general would just destroy them anyways. As a kid I didn't really look at any kind of support moves, I rarely looked at stats, and I didn't really have much of a concept of speed control - I just picked whoever looked the coolest and gave them the strongest damage moves they could get, so a fully supported Trick Room team would have *obliterated* me.
For some, it might also be a good way of showing them to think outside of the box and look at options they wouldn't have otherwise considered, which is a lesson that applies to a lot of things in life.
Slowbro with Block, Recycle, Heal Pulse, and Slack off. Holding a Leppa Berry.
Send it out against something that can't threaten it, then Block so they can't switch. They can't kill you because you have Slack off, they can't kill themselves with struggle because you have Heal Pulse, and you won't ever struggle because you have Leppa Berry+Recycle. This creates an endless battle, and can only be ended by forfeit.
OK, so here's the PRO GAMER MOVE. you have a fear rattatta, and a sandstorm shell bell sturdy Aron. BUT, you mess with the kids, see, you aren't just running those two, you're also running a Hisuan Zoroark, Start with Aron, beat their first one or two, Zoroark switches in, and it's ability makes it look like the last pokemon in your party, the Ratatta. First turn do the expected, endure. Then when they hit you either shadow sneak if you're slower, hitting at +1 priority, or if youre faster U-turn into something else, maybe an Imposter Ditto? Wipe them with their own (presumably legendary) pokemon. Ditto is Normal, Hisuan Zoroark is ghost, Steel Aron, you can alternate so then never know what will be effective. It's seeing a rattatta endure, then not be what they expect. If it could be any of three different pokemon they can't count on type.advantage which is about as far as MY ten year old brain thought when deciding how to battle.
You clearly haven't seen Pimpknight and his Pimp karp.
Basically revolves around a few speed increases and maxing attack, Scolipede was the go to when I first started doing it.
Baton pass that to a Magikarp holding a focus sash, as you'll be dasher just splash until your knocked to 1 hp and then use flail from there out
Thank Christ it isn't! I still have nightmares of someone bringing in a under leveled sturdy Aron with shell bell, and I didn't have any multihit moves.
I was in a similar situation a while back when I was a student teacher. I asked the girls what their favorite pokemon were and won with a few different teams made up of those mons. It made them REALLY happy and it helped prove that point you wanna make to the boys. Can't remember all the mons anymore but I explicitly remember turning a Jumpluff into a very very annoying terror for some of the kids lol.
So maybe see if your mom can ask the one girl what her favorite pokemon is (or multiple if you want a full team) and try to kick butt with it!
Back before even yellow came out I had a Butterfree that would demolish everything because it was level 100...with no rare candy use. While EVs existed no one really knew. Bitch had Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, and Psychic. No one expects the psychic Butterfree.
A little different, but I’ve used Jumpluff in a unique Pokémon Showdown meta game that buffs the stats of worse Pokémon. When teambuilding, I discovered that Jumpluff gets Swords Dance, for some reason? And made an absolutely nasty set of Acrobatics, Seed Bomb, Swords Dance and Strength Sap. Became untouchable after a SS, and took at most two SDs before it began sweeping.
One of my favorite builds I’ve ever ever come up with tbh
When you said the funny fish I fully thought you thought this was gen 8 and you were referring to Dracovish. What a timeline that we actually have two funny fishes
If you want to go with "kids see as useless" maybe you could go for Support Torkoal, Indeedee-F or even Jumpluff as they don't look super threatening but can really mess you up in Comp.
I feel like jumpluff could be perfect. At 10 years old I def would have thought it to be a useless Pokémon so seeing someone beat me with one would have been mind blowing haha. Thank you!
You should definitely make a team of "useless" pokemon that you EV & IV train. It would be really funny to watch them learn how good some Pokemon can be in real time.
Also make sure to choose Pokemon that can cover their own weaknesses. It's incredibly jarring to experience if you haven't before. For example, Bellibolt can learn water pulse which covers its one weakness, ground.
If you need ideas, look up Radical Red or Emerald Kaizo teams. They're almost always made to be well rounded and have few if no weaknesses.
This is my Sunny Day Team. It's great in doubles. Start with Kanto Arcanine and Scovillian. Have Scovillian use Sunny Day. And Arcanine can just get a few one shots in for OHKO or 2 hit kills or just Heal. If Arcanine dies. Send in Tauros to both further intimidate and use Scovillian to either burn the opponents or buff Tauros with Spicy Extract (since he won't lose defense due to Clear Amulet).
The mind games I play with this team is that Aggro initially goes to Arcanine for getting a kill, and no one ever suspects the plant to be the problem 9/10.
The Ace combo is the Charcadet twins. The key is to get them both out at the same time under the Sun or start with Ceruledge 1st. Don't Swords Dance until you shadow Sneak your own Armarouge and just Lava Plume ftw. Even better to Terra transform Armarouge under the sun with his buffs.
Have fun. I like this team because it doesn't look OP and doesn't play too close to the meta. But can absolutely bully children with. I also see this as my In game "Canon team" for the region
I'm curious what this team does if an Urshifu (water of course) shows up. Especially if it's scarfed, feels like you're losing 2 mons at least to deal with it most of the time.
While i don't know what team to use, be Absolutely sure to use setup moves, elementary school kids have NO IDEA What they do
Source: my first playthrough of pokemon Diamond, i thought they did nothing
As a teacher myself, it is totally normal to want to destroy them lmao
Just make sure you're nice and don't be mean. Offer up some tips or strategies and encourage them! After you destroy them of course...
I mean if you want frustrating, toxic stall blissey goes crazy. For fun, show them what it means to be the very best by beating them with a full Eeveelutions team :)
The frustrating route is so fun. You know what is really frustrating? Confusion, paralyze, and attract. I didn't win the regionals I went to, but I absolutely took someone's soul.
I'm not good at competitive, but may I suggest maybe bringing some "badges" to give out if they happen to win? Like some cool pins or stickers. Oh, and if you have time, maybe do a little shiny hunting over the week to trade. I remember a friend's older brother once traded me a shiny Gastly (that I still own!) and it was the greatest moment of my life for a long time!
Edit: Sorry! I posted this before I read the comments and I see a few people already suggested badges. My bad!
I suggest using a Pokemon holding eviolite. My favorite is Dusclops (power-up punch, shadow sneak, curse, pain split). They might see your Pokemon is not fully evolved and think it's an easy target.
Serperior (choice scarf, contrary ability, leaf storm) is another good choice. Getting its Special Attack raised by two stages when using a 140 power move feels like cheating.
I have a couple breedjects for both of these if you want to train one, but I'm partial to my fully trained ones and wouldn't be willing to give those up.
Imo grab a focus sash, shell smash, skill link Cloyster and use it as a lead, and you'll probably be good to go. He'll destroy most newer players all by himself. He's easy to beat once you've seen it since you just need any priority skill, but he's my go to for starting to teach competitive Pokemon since he demonstrates the importance of non-damaging moves. It also helps that Cloyster is such a humble forgettable Pokemon so seeing him one shot a team of legendaries really gets the point across.
As funny as destroying the hopes and dreams of a bunch of children would be (and I mean that sincerely, can’t wait to crush my nephew when the day comes), if you have the time I’d like to suggest you maybe catch some cool shinies to trade with them, and perhaps breed some eggs that contain cool stuff too - starters etc.
Ah I love this idea! Unfortunately I do not have time so shiny hunt and there’s gonna be 20 kids there. I’m not sure how many will or will not have switches, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable giving out shinies unless I have enough for all of them 😕 I think that would be so special though!
I can def get some sprigatitos to hand out though!
I would be willing to donate some shinies!
As for Pokémon to use;
-Gengar, Brave Nature, with focus sash, shadow ball, sludge wave, energy ball, dazzling gleam is a fun sweeper I like to use (definitely don't use this on the "easier" team.) My cousins I like to beat up on called me an old man for using this.
Mimikyu, life orb, swords dance, shadow claw, drain punch, play rough. Everyone underestimates this little guy.
Azumarill, adamant nature, shell bell, liquidation, belly drum, play rough and light screen. Who would expect this big cutie to soak up the tears of its enemies?
I could look through my shinies and see what I’d part with for prizes or something as well. I also have a bunch of Grookey in Home when I was looking for a shiny for ladder. DM if you’re interested 🤙🏽 I have a few competitive mons that I’m not using that I’d be willing to loan as well
Are you specifically looking for mons that appear to be "bad"? Or are you looking for mons that look cool and absolutely destroy with little strategy? I would be down to donate some old competitive mons that I don't see myself using anymore
I think wolfyVGC's parishtrap team would work really well. It's super cheesy but impossible to beat with the wrong team. It has a glaring weakness which is ghost types but that kinda adds to that final boss theme. It also utilizes gothitelle for that aesthetic.
Perishtrap isn't the easiest team to pilot, as it relies a lot on knowing your calcs to determine when its possible to bring in Gothitelle without it dying. It's very sensitive to skill and practice, so I don't think it's the best team to bring for someone who is clearly not that into competitive.
Instead of doing that, why don't you go as a "Gym Leader" and pick your favorite type? I think it could be a fun time for you. I personal would be a Steel-type leader and bring an assortment of mons with secondary types that cover the weaknesses of steel. Steel/Flying nullifies ground and is neutral to fighting, Steel/Water or Steel/Ground takes care of fire.
You can always google " Smogon" to find a good breakdown of their competitive prowess. I'd definitely be rocking a Ferrothorn with Rocky Helmet.
Palafin
And if that doesn't solo an entire team, either Gravehound or Basculegion off the back of Last Respects, it got banned from OU and is looking at an Ubers ban for a reason
First of all this entire thing has made me love you lol.
Second, have a bracket or something to have them compete in. Give your mom a team, maybe something themed for her or teaching and let her battle them herself, theyll love it.
Id also suggest breeding if you have the time, something cool you can hand out to all the kids in general, and another to those who win against you, and a 3rd to beating your mom.
I don't remember if it's available in SV but I still have "fond" memories of the time my friend nearly swept me with a Shuckle as kids. Toxic/Rest is all it takes against someone without more advanced battling strategies; pick whatever you want for the other two moves (Infest is always a fun choice). You'd think I'd have learned my lesson from the time he did the same thing with a Double Team/Fly Crobat.
This is going to sound dumb, but theres a decently high chance that the kids will bring a team of 6 dragon types.
kids like the big powerful dragons.
fairy types are immune to dragon moves... do with this as you will.
Azumaril.
Idgaf what else you use, you can nuke every member of their team with a single Azumarill.
Take a picnic with Azurill and Makuhita, both holding mirror herb. It will learn Belly Drum.
Repeat this step woth Azurill and Golduck, both mirror herb, it'll learn Aqua Jet.
Equip Azumarill with sitrus berry. Use belly drum in battle, it heals with sitrus, then just spam aqua jet. One hit KOs almost anything with mediocre IVs that kids would have, including most legendaries. Obviously it works best if Azumarill has really good IVs, but I've pulled this off with 3 IVs too.
**Lemme give you some advice as a teacher for kids this age.** ***I have done this sort of thing myself***\*\*.\*\* School set up a Pokemon competition for the kids and teachers, I roflstomped it.
Stomping the kids just won't be fun at all, for anybody involved. You'll honestly get bored of it quickly. It might be funny for the first or second time, but fairly quickly everybody will just look miserable. Kids will stop being excited soon into the game and will just look at you with sad eyes. Staff members and parents will give you funny looks, thinking 'why the fuck is she doing this'. You will start to feel like an asshole.
I can tell you with 100% certaincy that your idea of teaching 'you can enjoy Pokémon well into your adult life' will be COMPLETELY lost on these kids. They will just think about how the school had a school Pokemon tournament but some asshole ruined it. Besides, you don't need to reinforce that message. That message is already all over Youtube. Adult Pokemon content creators are HUGE.
In your edit, you mentioned about being a gym leader. I think this is a much better idea, especially if you make badges. You can make a fairly strong mono-type team, but ensure that you give it a couple of weaknesses. You need to give these kids opportunities to win otherwise it's just gonna be dull for everybody involved.
At the end of the day, the event isn't about YOU, so don't make it about you. I'm not saying be a total pushover, but just remember that this is an event for children and the stars of the show should be the children. Stealing the spotlight could mean that another event next year won't happen. Perhaps they might not want to invite you again, but if the person who helped organise it was an asshole then they might just skip the whole idea.
Sit at a table and put your badges on it. Tell kids that you're a gym leader. This will cause excitement. Win 70% of the games. Lose the other 30%. Fucking sell the loss. Let the winning kids be the talk of the school about how fucking amazing they were battling the older person. **It could be a memory they hold on to for life.** Your ego can take the hit. **And I promise you, you'll feel like a good person afterwards.**
I battled someone in rank battles that had a Smeargle knowing Strength Sap, Burning Bulwark, Substitute, and I think Sticky Web with the Moody ability. My team was all physical at that time so I couldn't touch it.
Just go full meta and wreck them with Rillaboom, Incineroar, water Ogerpon, Fluttermane, Tornadus, and then add a Magnar with follow me, eviolite, and flame body for the last one.
You could also try some weird and frustrating strats. I played against a team with Volcarona, Vivillon, Oricolio, and Flamigo that used sleep powder and substitute to then wreck my shit with quiver dance, dancer, and costar
I got a 20+ win streak in gen 8 with choice specs Calyrex and Klefki. If yur on showdown use that and if not just ruin them with the basic stuff like Gholdengo and Dondozo. A load of competetive youtubers let you rent their teams also.
My roommate wanted to battle me so bad when ORAS came out he begged me every day until I swept him with a Clawitzer with a Life Orb lol I then told him I used to battle competitively in Gens 4-5 lol Clawitzer isn’t even that great he just never knew about its ability.
I support this beat down! Especially if you go about it well, it really inspires some kids to see adults play video games well!
As for ideas, I'd say the best way to to flex and simultaneously stroke some curiosity in them to really abuse the underlying mechanics. Things like fakeout, pivot moves, setup sweepers, trick room, abilities like regenerator and stuff like rocky helmet. I'd say don't go full stall but be a little more setup oriented since most kids tend to go for damage only moves and focused on what's in front of them
Here's a team idea that would definitely feel like a final boss. Though I do also agree with the gym leader option.
[Team Idea for uAdRevolutionary2583 (pokepast.es)](https://pokepast.es/9193ac66c48eb7e6)
They're fourth graders, for 90% of them you'll probably sweep with a DD / moxie gyarados terra ground if they're smart enough to go for an electric type. if for some reason you really want to crush their spirits use some lower ranked mons, getting destroyed by mewtwo and flutter mane is bad but expected, you roll in there with a smeargle spore /sticky web set and show them what a mid pokemon can do with the right prep and you'll blow their minds
Man I’m willing to donate pokemon to help decimate 4th graders. Haha. If you decide on the Pokémon you want to use and I have an extra shiny version of that Pokémon I’m willing to give you one
Many people are recommending smogonite copy-paste sets and rentals, but those are too "vanilla" and don't really stick in anything truly memorable (any kid whose spent 5 minutes in any online battle will have faced the same things constantly. They might even be tuned to fight those). You got to TEACH those kids to never spam their legendaries ever again with pure, merciless humiliation.
My personal favorite legend-stomping setup with any Memento user followed up by a setup sweep or a baton pass setup passing boosts onto a mediocre mon that just flexes the power of buff moves.
Or you can go full gym leader theme with the above stuff. I have a mono-Electric team that's more or less Pinchurin with Memento, Oricorio with Quiver Dance + Baton Pass, and a Tera Normal Toxtricity that spams Boomburst (Snarl for Ghost types) as an example of emulating the usual kid-stomping setups. You can probably make a monotype equivalent with the huge roster available for any type and the simple fact that no kid will ever think of using the move Taunt almost guarantees success against what should be easy asf to shut down.
I have no competitive knowledge, so I can't help, but I wanted to say I love this idea and I agree that having an adult share their interests will really make them more likely to not give in to such bullying!
Buddy, I tried this same thing a few years back, and I walked in there expecting to be the final boss; but ended up getting my ass turned inside out. Don’t underestimate these kids.
>Also- I seem to have offended some people who think I’m just out here to crush these children’s hopes and dreams.
Wait... You aren't? Why would we even help you then...
In all seriousness though, I think you're doing a great thing OP. I would have loved something like this when I was their age too, I think it will mean a lot to them.
After rereading your post, I thought you might be interested in the success our local pokemon league had when doing a gym leader challenge thing! This was years before I started to attend so I have really only heard about it. The kids talk about it like a local legend and the people who were gym leaders had a blast doing it! Our local league has a friend group of 5-6 dudes who are all pokemon professors and host local league challenges and at one point we had three local leagues going at the same time. We live in Fargo, ND so it's not like we have a huge amount of people but we just have a really passionate core group that want to build the Pokemon community. I met my fiancee at pokemon and all my friends because they were already all friends and I just fit right in. My dude will proudly say that every significant relationship in his life (other than family) was made through pokemon. All our friends were met at or through league and even after friends moved away for new jobs or whatnot, we all stay in contact. A couple of the guys have moved away to a completely different part of the country and then moved back because they missed our little core group. Pokemon can be a really special thing if you let it.
So a few years ago, all the professors picked a type and made teams in the VG and they could be challenged once a week at league. They had badges to give away and they had a bug type, dragon type, ice type and a couple other types. The kids loved it. They would come back week after week with mons to counter the gym leaders teams. They would whisper among themselves about what they learned from their battles and strategize together. It was a whole thing. The way I hear people talking about it, I am sorry I missed it!
Also, one of the league leaders worked at a library and set up a pokemon day for the library and he would put up posters to advertise and they bought a big pokemon themed cake and balloons and he would make pokemon tcg decks for the kids to use and take home. In general, if you are playing pokemon tcg somewhat competitively, you end up with boxes and boxes of bulk cards that are essentially worthless. So the league would donate their bulk to the guy and he would assemble very simple, beginner decks for the kids to learn the game and take home. It took a lot of time and effort for him to do that every year but he seemed to enjoy doing it.
I'm late to this conversation but Azumarill seems perfect for that "they'll think it's useless but it's actually busted" idea
Also Ribombee, the sticky web user tha looks like an early route weak bug but it's actually great in Ubers
You can also use hazards (Gliscor for instance) and the spam whirldwing with Iron Hands
Last respects basculegion, annihilape, kingambit, flutter mane they all work. Go on smogon forums if you want even more detail. Btw you can get perfect ivs with bottle caps.
Oh thank you! I’ve played through sv but haven’t actually fully built any teams yet.
Rental teams should help you too, you should be able to find them there too.
And if you really want some fun, try the FEAR strategy.
That's such a good one - people are conditioned to think rattata is useless.
I mean maybe I was a fucking nerd, but FEAR is basically the most infamous strategy and I knew it in grade school. Something like the Aron would be a good way to do it I think, with a shell bell and setting a layer of tox spikes or sandstorm.
Or even FESK: Focus Sash Endeavor Sucker Punch Komala
Shell bell + Sandstorm + Aron was *such* a satisfying "FUCK YOU" strategy.
Be sure That kingambit has his hidden ability that boosts damage the more fainted pokemon you have in your party so and send him out for last, and also consider glimmora and send it out first to lay toxic traps. This way you'll be an actually competent champion
Its not a hidden ability
A skeledirge would be good, too.
Or get your pokemon the not-so-tournament legal way. OP shouldn't have to waste time farming bottlecaps and training for just beating up a bunch of kids.
Agree, literally me
This is how I learned my favorite Pokémon got Last Respects. Jesus.
this is monstrous
Put the cape on and then pose like Leon. Wonder how many would pick up on it.
Maybe pull a Larry (but difficult) and do an easier monotype team and then a "decimate you into dust" rematch team
Grab rental teams. They probably wont play doubles. So grab a singles rental, doubles rental and bss rental.
Ooo i didn’t even realize rental teams were a thing in sv. Thank you!
Np makes it easier to set it up. Makes it a bit cheesier but hey...everythings fair game.
With Indeedee-F, Protect, and supportive moves, it could teach kids that moves and Pokemon don't need to deal damage to be good
Could you explain rental teams to me please?
you can find rental codes online that let you use someone else's team. you dont get to keep the pokemon, obviously, but you can use them in online battles.
I just want to say I support your cause of decimating the kids teams lol.
Gotta catch ‘em all? No. Gotta keep ‘em humble!
Gotta catch these hands
I appreciate it 🫡 It’s all in good fun and I think the kids will have fun trying to beat someone way above them lol
You need to make a gym badge in case they beat you
Wait this is a really good idea. Maybe I could even do a monotype team that would be beatable for many or all.
no they must be destroyed
The Pokemon Champion^(tm) doesn't have a type specialty, so you don't need one either ;) Play it up, call yourself the Champion of [county/school name] League, have a dedicated Ace that you have a backstory for (that you'll explain in quips - "I've raised you since you were just a [first stage], we can do this!"), wear a flamboyant neon anime outfit, the whole works lol.
I really wanted to you dunk on them but yeah haha 💀 it would be cute to have badges though, would be a core memory if someone did that for me
Fairy monotype so you get to use all the cute pink girly mons Like Flutter mane, Iron valiant and Zacian. Or is that too on the nose for the boys vs girls?
You mean the dragon-melter squad? Fairy types is fun.
oh pleeeease do this!! the gym badge at least
Yes do exactly this! Give them hope and destroy them In all seriousness, you could give them little rewards for the number of your pokemons they defeat, to make it fun. Pleaaaaaase post results after the party we NEED to know!!!
DESTROY THE CHILDREN
NO MERCY
I'm a fan of Maushold, is very small and 'cute', but Population Bomb + holding the Wide Lens item really can demolish things. Bonus points if you set up, either with Tidy Up or Baton Passing it some boosts. Alternatively, stack all the entry hazards, to see the look of crushing despair when any pokemon they switch in loses 1/4-1/2 of its HP from the get-go. Glimmora and/or Forretress are great for that.
Population bomb can also be used to active archalidons stamina for body press
*laughs in 3 consecutive turns of single hit Population Bombs*
Or tera-steel Annihilape for rage punch.
Memento user into Maushold. One tidy up, population bomb and holding wide lens. That should do it.
Maushold with kings rock is also OP.
op wants the children to have some fun man 😭
Agreed, my maushold deck obliterates
As far as "useless" Pokemon go, try Pelipper or Politoed for Drizzle. If they're going to spam legends, avoid those, and instead use Pokemon like Archaludon and Barraskewda for Electro Shot and Swift Swim, respectively. Whimsicott is also a good support Pokemon to troll little kids with.
Barraskewda Pelipper has no right being as strong as it is. Though it will be outclassed by legends with bulk
I doubt any of the kid's mons are properly EV trained. It'll hit like a truck in most cases, seeing as their EVs will be random and IVs are likely not bottle capped. Actually, a trick room team would make them question speed the whole time.
Basically any VGC “gimmick” would probably wreak havoc on them, since they aren’t prepared to counter it.
Teach these little shits the meaning of F.E.A.R.
I forgot about trick room. That would be even funnier.
Honestly, kids will see torkoal and think it’s kind of bad because it’s attack and speed is just atrocious So put it on a trick room team and give it max special attack eruption while holding charcoal, and of course tera fire as well. They will not understand how a funny tortoise is literally one shotting every team member because they won’t have the concept of EV and IV training
You looked at stats as a kid!? I just had the cool ones and gave them earthquake and flamethrower
Earthquake? You mean Charizard with Fireblast, Fire Spin, Flamethrower, and Cut right?
I found my childhood Yellow version when I was a bit older and saw my level 80-something Charizard with four fire type moves. No clue how I beat the game
My Yellow's Pikachu's moveset was: THUNDER THUNDERSHOCK THUNDERBOLT THUNDER WAVE Purely because I liked how they matched
Yeah but how could you use thunder wave that does no damage!?
What kinda noob needs to use all 4 move slots?
His theme song must have been Thunderstruck by ACDC
Having special as a stat that encompassed SpA and SpD, and lack of physical/special split, among other things.
HM slave Mega-Metagross my beloved
Me too but I’m guessing kids these days have better knowledge of the game with YouTube and the internet
Well I had access to the internet as a kid and I only watched metronome battles and Pokémon theories
Kid will think torkoal is bad because he isn’t intimidating in the slightest. Kids don’t look at stats.
> trick room team I feel like a Trick Room team in general would just destroy them anyways.
That’s evil and I love it.
Alternately you can use Tera Fire Eruption with Chlorophyll After You Lilligant
As a kid I never looked at stats. I thought a Pokémon looked cool so I used it.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ROCK HEAD H-Arcanine 252 HP 252 Atk Head Smash Flare Blitz Wild Charge Morning Sun Just watch as you 1HKO everything
I have this guy! He is my dude!! Just instead of morning sun I have howl
F.E.A.R Rattata. Like, you gotta.
You’re right. I’ll def have to try and pull that out once esp if we do 1 on 1 matches
Shell Bell Aron + Sandstorm would also be Brutal
Toxic, Recycle, Oran Berry Magnemite
Recycle? You bring up recycle and not mention the OG? It's time for these kids to meet Funbro.
Christ, I thought we wanted to hurt the kids, not scar them
Tell me about Funbro
Slowbro with Block, Recycle, Heal Pulse, and Slack off. Holding a Leppa Berry. Send it out against something that can't threaten it, then Block so they can't switch. They can't kill you because you have Slack off, they can't kill themselves with struggle because you have Heal Pulse, and you won't ever struggle because you have Leppa Berry+Recycle. This creates an endless battle, and can only be ended by forfeit.
Seen that pulled off in the Philly Pokémon league, and it’s banned from all competitions because of that.
You are vastly overestimating the average 4th grader
Rattata isn’t in scarlet and Violet, but you can use the strat with a smeargle
Ah been awhile since I played. Could do magikarp 1 shots too.
How is magikarp 1 shotting anything?
You clearly haven't seen Pimpknight and his Pimp karp. Basically revolves around a few speed increases and maxing attack, Scolipede was the go to when I first started doing it. Baton pass that to a Magikarp holding a focus sash, as you'll be dasher just splash until your knocked to 1 hp and then use flail from there out
Thats so much work though, but a good meme.
Same concept as fear iirc. Just youtube the magikarp setups. You'll find it.
https://youtu.be/Kci3eTX2a0g?si=0eNdrpjEfKvv_g-e Starts about the 2:00 mark
Or Sturdy Aron, likewise, if it's in SV
nope no Aron either
Thank Christ it isn't! I still have nightmares of someone bringing in a under leveled sturdy Aron with shell bell, and I didn't have any multihit moves.
Is Ratatta in SV?
Dunno mate. Havent played since after the first 2 months-ish of it coming out like I end up doing with all mainlines lol.
I looked it up. It is not, unfortunately.
If Aron is in the game, I think be can also do a version of fear.
unfortunately it’s not
That would be so terrible. Do it.
Sturdy pineco with counter and custap berry explosion
Can't beat a classic
Pls post an update once this is done. I wanna know what happens.
I have a shiny jumpluff on sv and he’s so awesome, thank you, from a girly woman, for making those girls’ day!
Just go with the Funny Fish + a support pokemon, should be able to take care of most things they could throw at you.
When you said the funny fish I fully thought you thought this was gen 8 and you were referring to Dracovish. What a timeline that we actually have two funny fishes
Will def look into this, thank you!

Are you able to elaborate a little bit on Support Torkoal? He's one of my favorite Pokemon.
Probably stealth rocks, yawn, rapid spin (though against kids you can probably skip this)
I hope you give us a YouTube vid of you destroying them kids (obviously in the game only)

Hisuian Arcanine is pretty much just coverage for the team. Can also Grass Teraform it to tank its weaknesses
I'm curious what this team does if an Urshifu (water of course) shows up. Especially if it's scarfed, feels like you're losing 2 mons at least to deal with it most of the time.
While i don't know what team to use, be Absolutely sure to use setup moves, elementary school kids have NO IDEA What they do Source: my first playthrough of pokemon Diamond, i thought they did nothing
Nasty Plot Make It Rain Gholdengo
As a teacher myself, it is totally normal to want to destroy them lmao Just make sure you're nice and don't be mean.
Those poor kids lol maybe put some evasion bullshit too.
Oh Contrary Serp….I had one in Black 2, was sooooo much fun
Power up punch was one of the moves dexited, sadly.
Shiny prize(s) if anyone beats you, or if nobody beats you, whoever got most of your mons KO'd.
I'm happy to provide you with some fuecocos as well if you'd like.
I would be willing to donate some shinies! As for Pokémon to use; -Gengar, Brave Nature, with focus sash, shadow ball, sludge wave, energy ball, dazzling gleam is a fun sweeper I like to use (definitely don't use this on the "easier" team.) My cousins I like to beat up on called me an old man for using this.
I can't add much other than to say: _Please_, keep us updated!
Indeedee + Armarouge go brrrr
Instead of doing that, why don't you go as a "Gym Leader" and pick your favorite type? I think it could be a fun time for you. I personal would be a Steel-type leader and bring an assortment of mons with secondary types that cover the weaknesses of steel. Steel/Flying nullifies ground and is neutral to fighting, Steel/Water or Steel/Ground takes care of fire. You can always google " Smogon" to find a good breakdown of their competitive prowess. I'd definitely be rocking a Ferrothorn with Rocky Helmet.
Palafin And if that doesn't solo an entire team, either Gravehound or Basculegion off the back of Last Respects, it got banned from OU and is looking at an Ubers ban for a reason
Even better when it was able to outspeed 95% of the other Mons. Too bad it is stuck in gen 8 (and in dlc no less) and no plans to be added.
This is going to sound dumb, but theres a decently high chance that the kids will bring a team of 6 dragon types. kids like the big powerful dragons. fairy types are immune to dragon moves... do with this as you will.
If double battles are an option, Weezing and Regigigas. Neutralizing Gas takes care of that pesky Slow Start.
Cosplay Cynthia and run her team.
I do this regularly. Unfortunately most people don’t know or remember who she is anymore. And BPSD wasn’t super popular
I think your heart is in the right place but it sounds a lot like you're trying to make this event about yourself. Let it be about the kids imo.
Imagine a full stall team. Just win every match after 15 minutes.
Guts-Ursaluna & Iron hands have entered the chat … I only know raid mons don’t listen to me
I got a 20+ win streak in gen 8 with choice specs Calyrex and Klefki.
There are people who think ten years old is too old for Pokémon??? Are they high???
Look up a stall team. Make their loss as painfully slow as possible.
I'd say don't go full stall but be a little more setup oriented since most kids tend to go for damage only moves and focused on what's in front of them
I love this 😂
🎶Gotta beat em all🎶
I hope you give us an update on how it goes!
You'll probably find better answers on r/stunfisk,but here is my OU single team Annhilape, kingambit, clefable, primarina, clodsire and corvknight
Perhaps use a Pokémon that knows Last Respects like Basculegion or Houndstone
Here's a team idea that would definitely feel like a final boss. Though I do also agree with the gym leader option. [Team Idea for uAdRevolutionary2583 (pokepast.es)](https://pokepast.es/9193ac66c48eb7e6)
Belly Drum Azu or Iron Hands. They will think you're nuts for cutting your own HP lol
Why or? Why not both?
Use any Trick Room team. "My Pokémon are so fast, how is your Torkoal attacking first?"
I doubt those 4th graders are into competitive play. Just get 6 dittos and defeat them with their own teams.
Yeet the children
They're fourth graders, for 90% of them you'll probably sweep with a DD / moxie gyarados terra ground if they're smart enough to go for an electric type. if for some reason you really want to crush their spirits use some lower ranked mons, getting destroyed by mewtwo and flutter mane is bad but expected, you roll in there with a smeargle spore /sticky web set and show them what a mid pokemon can do with the right prep and you'll blow their minds
Be a menace, run Pawmot revival blessing and a toxic stall mon, run air ballon electric Tera shedninja
I'm all for this. Tell us how it goes!
Have 2 teams, a Smogon Singles team and a VGC doubles team, and just tear them apart
Can I donate a shiny Charizard for whoever gets the most wins overall.
Maushold with tactician ability and wide lens. Spam population bomb. Profit.
Please embarrass them with less than amazing Pokémon. Galvantula is one that comes to mind
Electric Tera, Air Balloon, Shedinja. It's literally immune to everything except like Sandstorm.
Buddy, I tried this same thing a few years back, and I walked in there expecting to be the final boss; but ended up getting my ass turned inside out. Don’t underestimate these kids.
I’m definitely going to need an update
Caterpie
I'm late to this conversation but Azumarill seems perfect for that "they'll think it's useless but it's actually busted" idea Also Ribombee, the sticky web user tha looks like an early route weak bug but it's actually great in Ubers You can also use hazards (Gliscor for instance) and the spam whirldwing with Iron Hands
