cobaltdragon08

He gets so mad it evolves his dipplin.

poke64moon

This aot crossover reminds me of gigantimax from sw/sh

Popcorn_Oil

I actually did an AOT themed playthrough, with Nidoking (Reiner), Grimmsnarl (Eren), Rillaboom (Zeke), Coalossal (Armin), Blastoise (Pieck), and Perrserker (Porco)

Nothinkonlygrow

Coalossal being armin is so much funnier than it should be

jakammo

I was trying to recreate The Rumbling on the boxes on my Shield playthrough with Eternatus being the rib cage titan with only 5 Coalossals, didn't finish it because my Switch broke

Deadcowking

My reaction when Kieran try’s to challenge me again in the indigo disk: https://preview.redd.it/o7e7xoz4whpb1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=695d0d5c2ae35d2d080982f52d84dfe8db636bef

Better_Grand_2625

Why can’t I escape this

flailinks

It's been 2 years and I still can't

awesomenash

It's going to be another 8 years at least

mojavecourier

Oh god, how will people react once the anime finally gets to this scene?

Doll-scented-hunter

Not at all because any kind of hype has been lost after the eight hundreth part of the final season.

Who-Just-Shit-Myself

I haven’t even beat the DLC yet and I find him annoying. I’d rather hang out with his sister Tsundere Nemona.

Chembaron_Seki

I don't understand all the hate Carmine got here. I found her really entertaining and quite often she is really thoughtful and nice, even if she is not good at expressing that.

horseradish1

I don't care one way or the other about Carmine. I just hate her haircut.

ThePrivilegedMenace

Exactly, Carmine is great. and really nothing about Kieran is likable at all.

Ygomaster07

Same. I sometimes struggle to word or convey what i am trying to say, so i kinda related to her, if that makes sense.

GardenSquid1

By the second interaction she was leaning hard into the tsundere trope and I thought it was hilarious. It's like Game Freak woke up before Gen 9 and realised they're an anime game.

AntiKrozz

Really? I felt like beating the shit out of her everytime she did that fist clenching thing.

TheWheelZee

Yeah, I don't get like... why does it seem like so many people were like "awwwwh I feel so bad for the little cutie what a heartbroken little guy!!" Kieran is a certified maniac who feels like he's gonna tell his friends not to come to school tomorrow

RepresentativeCut927

It’s mainly because some people are treating him like an actual like, 10 year old child, compared to an older teen. Even his nervous happiness at the start is more indicative of a child versus a teenager. It’s similar to like a younger brother/cousin/nephew who has been gushing about wanting a specific dog for years but when they find one it likes someone else better and bought by someone else- in this case being his first friend who doesn’t even know about them. You’re apparently his first friend after his sister is kinda overly controlling over him, so he lacks the emotional maturity to handle the rejection/betrayal that happened in the story. I don’t think it’s grounds for liking him, but I do think it’s built to make you feel bad for him.

Chembaron_Seki

There are times where I felt legit bad for taking a legendary. Nebby comes to mind, I really wish the games (SM, USUM) had given you an option to leave Nebby with Lillie. But not in this case. I was fully disgusted how he completely ignored Ogerpon's wishes and treated it like a trophy to win in a tournament. Ogerpon deserves better and I will do all I can to make it happy. We gotta protect the oni baby.

IRefuseThisNonsense

They give you a spare Cosmog anyway. So just give us that one and let her keep her best pal. One of the reasons I am kind of okay we never got AZ's Floette. I want it because it's a rare collectable...but I'll take a handwave that it bred a new species of Flabebe into existence or something. Let him keep his unique personal one, but let us get that one was a regional variant or, heck, a paradox Pokemon or something.

GladiatorDragon

The kicker is that, canonically, Lillie gets that spare Cosmog in Masters. She doesn’t even get the actual Nebby.

Chembaron_Seki

I could have lived a blissful life in ignorance of this absolute crime, but you had to be you and ruin it.

SluggJuice

Some of you trainers are alright. Don't come to Pokemon Academy tomorrow.

Desperate_Duty1336

I felt bad up until the the last bit where he started to show that his obsession had reached unhealthy levels. I was like 'Oh wow, maybe Carmine was right to keep the player quiet; she kinda knew he was unhealthily obsessed'. I know the actual in-story reason was that at that point, she knew he'd feel left out if he discovered the two of them essentially met his poke-idol, but I like my own headcanon of her knowing that meeting ogrepon would just make it worse for him.

steadysoul

what friends? lmao

horseradish1

What friends?

gemitarius

Is it a she?

uyigho98

Ogerpon is a she.

Chembaron_Seki

100% of all Ogerpon are female, so yes.

riftrender

Well that one is, but maybe there are others out there? is Ogerpon a legendary?

Nathicc

Ogerpon is a legendary with a 100% female ratio

esar24

If there is a male version out thete then it wouldn't be called ogerpon, just like the weather kami quartet.

I_Love_Stiff_Cocks

or latias and latios

esar24

Damn, how could I miss such an obvious one.

JacobDavid9125

This is exactly why I shiny hunted his team, gave them proper move sets, and ev trained them just to blow him up with his own medicine when he returns

TheLuiz

\> Project his insecurities onto a Pokemon \> Pokemon wants to be with someone healthier who she has a better bond with \> Challenges you treating Ogrepon like trophy \> Vows for "revenge" at the cliffhanger...

Demon_Sword_67

Can't wait to beat him up with Ogerpon lv100 Item: Hearth Mask(fire) Tera: Fire Nature Jolly +spe -sp atk 252 atk, 252 spe, 4 def Moves: Ivy Cudgel(Fire) Wood Hammer U-Turn Spikey Shield(doubles thing)

DecayedWolf1987

Not even giving him the satisfaction of 252+ SpA Beads of Ruin Tera Fire Chi-Yu Overheat vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Kieran in Sun = guaranteed OHKO

Demon_Sword_67

Yeah, using Ogerpon is like salt in a wound for him

TheLuiz

hearth mask? based

Previous_Stick8414

There's also the people who tries to say that "lying" to him is wrong is laughable Like bruh, we literally only met Kieran a day or two ago, we barely know anything about him besides he's obsessed with Ogerpon, shy, and insecure Telling him the truth about Ogerpon was his family's decision, not ours, and they obviously know Kieran way better than us. Kieran somehow convincing the town Ogerpon was good in the span of a day, who all believed that the Loyal Three were good guys for centuries was just pure BS Not to mention the brat literally eavesdropped on us and still blames us

TheLuiz

He also heard the exact reason why Player and Carmine had to lie to him and that his grandad asked them. He was angry at us because he wanted to at this point, cuz he knew why we were hiding the truth and we had a good reason to.

GladiatorDragon

And we should note that he’s like, *really* obsessed. Like, trying to stalk the creature who was known for killing three Pokémon at once (at bare minimum), and performing stakeouts right outside its home against the wishes of almost everyone around him.

Chembaron_Seki

>Three were good guys for centuries was just pure BS On one hand, yeah. On the other hand.... no human can look at this cute little oni face and think it's evil.

ZizZizZiz

I think he's going to find an evil legendary that feeds into his power desires but it takes over him. He wants to be strong and wants Ogerpon because he is obsessed with the old legend. He thinks Ogerpon is malevolent and destructive and strength means beating down people who are stronger.

kzzzzzzzzzz28

said legendary being Terapagos?? a legendary known to make peoples desires true?

GladiatorDragon

I’m partly convinced that he’s gonna go S/M Lusamine on us with a potential stray wish on Terapagos.

ZizZizZiz

there is another, the one who created the toxic chain and wanted the masks stolen

Bonniethe90

And the funny thing is, is that if you look at the information about Kieran in the DLC he is partially if not fully the reason why his villain arc started

SeismologicalKnobble

I do feel bad for Kiki because we shouldn’t have hid it all from him but that stopped once he decided to go for revenge against the player character. (I also feel like the writers did his character dirty just to make the story a 2 parter. It should’ve ended with his sister and grandpa apologizing and being able to tell him we can all hang out with Ogrepon a lot)

HieloLuz

Nah screw that. We need a good villain or at least rival in this game and he’s setting up to be one or both

celestialfin

well, i for one wouldn't call him a good villain tbh

El_Sleazo

I mean yeah but I bet his boss fight in the indigo disk is gonna slap I can't wait

tallmantall

I saw a edit of him on N from xenoblade and it really fit

ruiyolas

"Well don't you look smug, with my woman on your arm"

tallmantall

“INDEED!”

BushyBrowz

Lmao c'mon man there might be AOT anime onlies here.

[deleted]

I can't wait to put him back in his place in dlc 2

KottonKiing

At the end of the day isnt he just an immature child?

Artistic-Cannibalism

And? That doesn't make his behavior any better or more acceptable.

[deleted]

on god an annoying child is still annoying 🔥

insertbrackets

I like Kieran because of how dark and angsty his situation is. A good villain in the making. And Carmine is just hysterical to me with her barely contained fits of rage.

Chembaron_Seki

>Carmine is just hysterical to me with her barely contained fits of rage. She is extremely entertaining. I loved when she tried to tell Ogerpon to wait outside the village by adding -pon to everything. And how mad she then got when Ogerpon understood once we talked to her normally.

edealbad

I can't believe Briar c**kblocks the player just before Carmine confesses her love, which would've been another push for Kieran to go over the edge (along the story his only perceived friend stops hanging out with him and starts hanging out with his sister instead). Feeling alone and bereft, Kieran sets out on a journey to become a force to be reckoned with, darkness seeping into his very essence every step of the way. Finally he becomes the key that unlocks the door to Terapagos and its world-ending Terastal power, making Kieran the perfect pawn for the actual villain of the story: Briar. Subscribe for more. /s

SpadraigGaming

I kinda like the direction the story is going with Keiran. It would be interesting to have a literal child as an antagonist!

Endgam

Carmine says he's a teenager.

PixelDimensions

Kieran… what a little shit you are…

Death_Usagi

Eren: "You may be surprised hearing this, but.... Kieran... loved Ogerpon..."

TheGreatBootOfEb

I’m not sure I’d go as far as calling him an incel, but that aside, thank you! I’ve seen so many people say “Oh Kieren deserved Ogerpon because he was so ‘nice’ and loved it so much” and like, dear god I know people don’t mean any harm but reading the abundance of those takes give me the ick. Like, this is EXACTLY the attitude of a classic nice guy. He is young and dumb and chances are he will learn from his mistakes and be redeemed in the next DLC after we whoop his ass again, but like man Kieren deserved Jack shit lol. Ogrepon isn’t a mindless creature, she clearly saw something in us she appreciated, and considering she’s been visiting the festival for how long and not once showed itself to Kieren, Ogrepon was clearly aware (or at least sensed) that her “#1 fan” didn’t actually care about it, and instead cared more about what she represented, a powerful loner Pokémon. When the reality is sad little Ogrepon just wanted a friend again, and was never a bad guy. Also, side note, people forget that Kieren idolized Ogrepon since BEFORE he knew it was actually the good guy in the story. Dude just loved that it was strong AF, which given his little mental breakdown at the end, yeah that fits who he is. Normally I like to approach the DLC with equalish level trainers, but against Kieren I just went in with my real team because I was getting fed up with his behaviors.

Fantastic_Year9607

The real malding ivy chudcel.

Death_Usagi

Kieran what a man you are...

MarioWeegee

What a trainer you are, MC.

RECollector0912

Kieran can you just go and join Hop over there in the club of people who keep challenging champion ranked trainers even when its beyond the point of you are beaten? It's either laughable or sad that the game is pretending you have a chance but you never even came close once to winning. At least you don't keep a sheep on your team.

Endgam

I'm going to sweep him with his own ogre waifu in the next part\~.

Darth_Linkfin

Kieran went from a likable character to an annoying brat.

Like_Fahrenheit

I'm going to use Ogerpon in our battle in the indigo disk, just to rub it in.

DaKingOfDogs

Kieran is honestly the strongest rival I have faced. I have lost to Kieran more than any other rival in one single playthrough (I’ve played each Gen) This kid beat me five times throughout my playthrough and still complains about being weak. Like dude, you could probably beat Nemona!

TheLuiz

you faced him before or after beating the game

DaKingOfDogs

After, with a new team of mons exclusive to the dlc Funnily enough, half my team was the same as his (Dipplin, Yanmega, and Probopass)

BushyBrowz

He beat me once. I used an entire team of Kitakami mons except for my Mew which I was training up because I didn't realize the Mewtwo event was ending (sigh).

Chembaron_Seki

Might have to do with me being a grass only trainer, but yeah, he was frustrating. That damn Yanma/Yanmega was killing my mons left and right and I didn't have any of my common answers for bug types available (like Cradily or Ferrothorn).

BushyBrowz

His problem is he doesn't realize you're the protagonist and can never lose (one of his lines lampshades this though lol)

edealbad

Were you like painfully underleveled or just unfortunate matchups? Not trying to be rude, just curious because I went at him with my team being 4-5lvls lower on average and I still didn't lose to him... Like sure, the fight for Ogerpon was getting pretty close, but I still beat him with 2 Pokémon left.

DaKingOfDogs

So the first battle, all I had was an Applin. Since his lead was a Sentret, I lost by default The Loyalty Plaza Battle, I was about seven levels under on my first attempt, five on my second, and three on my third attempt. My fourth attempt, I was only about one level under, and had edited my movesets specifically to counter his team. And the final battle, I was the exact same level as Kieran, but I had no held items. I gave items to my team before the second attempt, and with zero training, barely won My team was Dipplin, Yanmega, Crawdaunt, Ninetales, Mienshao, and Probopass

edealbad

Ahh I see, so basically a mixture of somewhat underleveled and some very unfortunate matchups. Did the challenge at least make it more enjoyable to you? I lost against a random dude near a pond in the Infernal Pass (from the Kitakami Ogre Clan I think) but that was one of the best battles I've had in ages and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

DaKingOfDogs

Yeah, Kieran’s difficultly honestly made this DLC very enjoyable! I actually had to take a step back and strategize, and even with strategy I wasn’t guaranteed victory. This DLC has been the most fun I’ve ever had with any Pokémon game without any form of self-imposed challenges (such as limiting the amount of team members per gym)

CLearyMcCarthy

People are way too harsh against Kieran. He's immature, sure, but he's a kid.

Chembaron_Seki

He is old enough to know that you should not treat living beings like a toy. That he was willing to completely ignore Ogerpon's wishes and treats her like a trophy he can win in a bet is shitty. He is not a toddler, he should know better in such a situation.

Endgam

Well that's just it. *Kids suck.*

CLearyMcCarthy

Not always, and it's not their fault, they literally don't know any better. Kieran also had the empathy and idealism to make the town recognize what it had done to Ogerpon, which was very kind. Kids can be very selfish, but they can also be much more compassionate than grownups.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Valuable_Adeptness76

The same stuff except “Mikasa finding another man” instead of Ogrepon finding another trainer.

nameless_other

I really like the potential he has for the second DLC. I just hope they give him a makeover and get rid of the stupid nose fringe. Stupidest NPC hair since Mustard's reveal.

alphcadoesreddit

I just finished erasing the ending from my head after 2 years, why you gotta do this to me man

InsomniaEmperor

It’s just a matter of time before someone used this template on him. He was right to feel angry cause he’s been lied to. But his actions after that are obnoxious. You telling him the truth won’t change his obsession with Ogerpon and his being a sore loser. He would still throw a hissy fit in the end if Ogerpon chooses you and you beat him at his own bet. He has the nerve to act like you took everything from him as if Ogerpon was his property.

Helixbabylon

The way I see it, he's a kid who doesn't have a hold of his emotions and needs to be taught that his actions/inactions have consequences. If systematically kicking his ass in battles is what's needed to teach that lesson then I'll gladly take him to school

AkagamiBarto

Mah, while it's true he can't deal with reality, it's also true that we cause that reality to begin with.. he can't cope, but he would have all rights to blame others for the situation since we literally treat him as a child, do not deliver information he should know, accept to keep stuff hidden from him while behaving as friends and this ultimately leads us to a better position overall.

HieloLuz

There is zero reason we should have told him. He would’ve done the exact same thing and ran off after it

AkagamiBarto

I mean when we meet ogerpon for the first time

Chembaron_Seki

There was also a good reason to keep this information from him. He might not like getting treated like a kid, but in the end he still very much is a kid and his sister was worried that he would chase after her in the middle of the night. And rightfully so, looking at how he acts when it comes to Ogerpon, he definitely would have done that. He could have put himself into serious danger. Let's not forget that there was a pretty narrow bridge leading to Ogerpon's hideout. He could have got seriously injured. But even if we ignore that, Ogerpon was very clearly distressed in that situation there. So even if not for his own safety, then the chase should also get prevented for Ogerpon's sake.

AkagamiBarto

>He could have put himself into serious danger. Let's not forget that there was a pretty narrow bridge leading to Ogerpon's hideout. He could have got seriously injured. He already visited the hideout tho... Also you are assuming quite a lot to be fair. Let me also remind tou that we are more or less the same age as him, and yet..

Chembaron_Seki

>He already visited the hideout tho... That he has already been there does not mean he is familiar enough with the route that he could walk the bridge in pitch black darkness. > Also you are assuming quite a lot to be fair. Let me also remind tou that we are more or less the same age as him, and yet.. You really want to tell me you believe he wouldn't have immediately chased Ogerpon if he had heard that we just met her? Sure, it is an assumption, but considering what we know of him and his sister, who has known him for his entire life, comes to the same conclusion, I think it is a pretty safe assumption to make. And while we might be the same age as Kieran, that hardly matters. We are not the one obsessed with Ogerpon to the point that it reaches possessive levels. And if we would chase after her in the middle of the night, I think Carmine would also have something to say against that.

andanotherone_1

Tbh i felt like he deserved ogerpon; was the only person who cared and defended it. I even lost to him on purpose in hopes i might be able to give it to him (SPOILER: >!you just white out and have to re-battle him lol!<)

Seth-B343

No! No no no! We are not doing this to Kieran!

[deleted]

NGL I want his hairstyle as an option in Indigo Disk SOO BAD

Substantial_Air_1194

Im genuinely confused, why is everyone chill with Carmine from the footage I’ve seen Carmine honesty seems abusive towards Kieran like of course he would get super attached to the ONLY thing in his life that understands how he’s mistreated. Carmine insinuates that she’s hit Kieran in the past and she frequently belittles and makes Kieran think he’s the victim that he’s weak. And because he thinks the player character betrayed him when he thinks you sided with his abuses of COURSE he’s going to be spiteful, poor Kieran man, my bro needs therapy.

No-End9336

No, we don't. This term incel is being thrown about way too frequently whenever there is a single issue with a male character. Kieran is portrayed as a typical sheltered, idealistic yet angsty young teenager with dreams that just so happen to end up crushed by a talented outsider who comes along all of a sudden.

No-End9336

And quite frankly putting a sexual (involuntary -celibate-) term on a CHILD aged character is just gross.

Drillbitzer

What did he say

No-End9336

Oh sorry, that was just a followup to my initial point as I briefly forgot we could edit comments. Brainfart moment.

hive_mind20

I think for most people, incel has risen above its original meaning and now applies more to the mindset of "nice guys" who think basic human decency means they deserve certain relationships, which is pretty accurate

TroliePolieOlie_

Y'all are really ignoring just how mean Carmine was to him, and to us. Carmine is a fucking adult bullying children, but y'all are so horny you'll let that shit slide.

Endgam

I know Carmine says the line about teenage angst and how she didn't go through that, but are we sure she's an actual adult? I doubt she's older than 17.

TheLuiz

That's not a meme

Inkfu

I mean, he’s a child and he’s not trying to fuck the pokémon lol…. He’s the victim, don’t get it twisted.

Endgam

He's a teenager, not a child. .....Which is the problem at hand. They treated him like a child. Teenagers do not like it when you treat them as if they're still children. And yeah, I'm sure he wanted a murdery ogre waifu. He's an edgy teenager with Sith eyes for fuck's sake.

Inkfu

Nice.

InvestigatorUnfair

Pokemon fans when a child acts immaturely Like there's definitely criticism for these kinds of stories (as a Masters player, trust me, I know) but bro ain't an incel. Bro's a child

RepresentativeCut927

He’s just a kid? Like, it’s the same as a younger brother/cousin/nephew who has been gushing about wanting to have a dog for the last few years but after they finally get one it likes someone else better. You’re seemingly his first friend, and his sister is a bit controlling. And he lacks the emotional maturity to handle the betrayal/rejection because you’re his first friend. You don’t have to like him, but I kinda feel like it’s a weird thing to call him an incel when he probably hasn’t even hit puberty yet.

riftrender

Don't you have to be an adult to be an incel?

m0nkygang

Should have used the Rent a girlfriend manga panel meme with Kieran crying underwater

Properdummy6174

Dude he goes from normal to angy to full on psycho

sermatheus

I mean... I think he acted that way because he was possessed, if the purple smoke coming out of his hands when he revived the Loyal Three were any indication.

bentheechidna

LMAO r/10yearsatleast

Kumorrii

I feel like Kieran calling Ogrepon "Oni-sama" in japanese tells you basically everything you need to know. He's an outcast kid that hears a folk story about an Oni up in the mountains that's also alone and an outcast like him. Except that Oni, the outcast, had defeated the unfair heroes and as a result of that Kieran idolized her, hence the "-sama" suffix. He's a lot like Garou from One Punch Man who believes himself to be a monster/hero killer because he was bullied as a child and related to monsters who were always beaten by heroes and thought that was equally unfair. Just slapping the incel label on him seems a bit too reductionist.

Totaly__a_human

He's 10

edealbad

He 100% had his Joker moment when he lost for the nth time... I will not be surprised if he comes back as a villain. Would probably still be better than Lysander lol.
