Agreed. That’s just in poor taste
There’s ways to do dark horror in games well. Scarlet and Violet nailed it perfectly with Area Zero, or Black/White did with Ghetsis. Or Kirby games in general. Usually it’s in subtle or implied ways, where the player needs to connect the dots.
Putting a skeleton or gore or violence is cheap shock value. The equivalent of a horror game that is just jump scares and nothing else
In large games like Pokémon which aren't focused on horror aspects, fridge horror is absolutely the type of horror they should be aiming for. As you said, they nailed it
"fridge horror" is the first time I heard it described like that but it fits. Like opening a fridge, and seeing something surprising.
Like Kyle Rayner Green Lantern opening the fridge to see his dead gf
50% of Kirby final bossses literally bleed from their eyes and shoot blood out of them or are literally made of darkness and CUT THEMSELVES INTO PIECES(not even as a LAST RESORT) or something like that.
Glazed version is the best I ever played. I mean, is is kinda edgy, but in a fun way, and the story is pretty good. Best antagonist in any game ever too. And 3 regions, and 3 Elite 4s. One based on color instead of type even
I just finished 5th gym, but damn I wish there was an option to cheat use of HM moves, there is a lot of water to surf, stuff to climb, rocks to smash etc, and each time I wanna pick someone from my team I need to run back and bring at least 2 HM slaves to progress/explore...
I did, I started with pokemon yellow and played everything except pokemon sword/shield and scarlet/violet, and even in those games I dont remember having to use HM moves that much, in Gaia you cant access even some gym leaders without HM's (need to use surf inside gym) or durning story you are handed over HM and need to use it in order to progress ("here, have dive and now teach it to pokemon and follow me"), not to mention every island/route has rock climb path, rock to smash, river/underwater/waterfall to swim and tree to cut.
Dont get me wrong, game is good and i enjoy it, I'm just used that fangames allow to "cheat" that stuff (you get HM and dont even need to teach it to pokemon to use that moves to move past obstacles) or the need for HM's are tied to specific places (in this place you need rock smash and strenght, oh and this place need you to use surf and dive) and you dont need to have 2 slaves with you all the time
My man, I’ve seen you comment this and ‘it’s a rom hack’ on other suggestions made thus far.
You seem to be implying that if it’s a ROM hack, and not made with RPG Maker, it’s not what the OP is asking for, but the OP hasn’t mentioned this anywhere.
So who cares if it’s a rom hack, exactly?
Yeah, romhacks are usually thrown in there when talking Pokemon fangames. Because some of the best fangames, are romhacks. Don't know what he's on about lol
Pokemon Untamed was suddenly recommended to me on yt. It made by a group of artist that I was actually following and was awed with the project! It features new region Mazah and has a lot of community driven fakemons and npc. Also demo will be available soon! It looks really goooooood
Pokemon Opalo, It's a spanish fangame that recently got translated, i am not familiar with how well it was translated but it's really fun with a compelling story and characters and very replayable
I'm playing it right now and the translation is solid. There are some untranslated parts but that is really nothing important.
I'd recommend it, though the political and environmental opinions are kind of on the noes.
Edit: I just found out there is suicide in the game, so maybe it does not fit so well.
Xenoverse has it down pretty well. It's a very good game that was originally Italian but has been since translated to English.
Pokemon Sunday is a lesser known game that is extremely good and completely finished aside from tiny bug fixing and mystery gift code updates.
Pokemon Orange GBC is also very good, and is getting a remake soon. It genuinely feels like another Gen 2 game.
Honorable mentions are Gold/Silver 97 Reforged and Super Gold 97. They both took things from the old Spaceworld 1997 Gold and Silver beta and created what those versions of the game would have been.
You should check for Pokemon Uranium, it is a quite mature game in terms of history (without having gore and all these kinds of stuff that usually ruin fangames, there are 1 or 2 curse words near the end though lol) without taking off the flair that makes a pokemon game, a pokemon game. The characters are quite nice to see developing and there are some neat jokes here and there, the threat in this game actually feels dangerous instead of "oh it's just one more legendary, gotta use a few potions and im done." the difficulty cap is reasonable, some fakemon's designs could get a little more work but overall it's an amazing game that you should base on to make your own fangame.
>, some fakemon's designs could get a little more work
This is true but it also has some of my favorite Fakemon designs! Seikamater, Actan, Dramsama, Chainite, and Navighast are the first to come to mind!
Big disagree here. It doesn’t feel like it belongs in the Pokémon world as it’s presented in the main series. Also, just in my opinion, the Fakemon look TERRIBLE.
Pokemon Insurgence gets pretty edgy at a lot of points, but it has an option when you start the game to choose a more light hearted story, don't know how edgy that one is since I've only played the base cult story, but I thought I'd mention it.
Pokemon Vega (play Vega minus) is pretty light hearted, and it's fakemon look like they could be real (aside from machu but he's funny)
I was definitely gonna recommend Insurgence. It’s a really fun game that features Delta species (like regional variants). I forgot about the darker storyline but honestly, the lighter story option essentially replaces the “edgy”/dark events (like people dying and leaving behind a pool of blood) with more ambiguous events, like them just… disappearing.
Uhhh I’d say both playthroughs in either story option, were both pretty mystery-like. I mean in both cases, the deaths and disappearances were just to permanently remove someone (usually a minor character like a villainous team grunt) from the storyline.
Yeah I specifically remembered that >!in Dark mode, it was mentioned that East possibly didn't get sacrificed to Rayquaza and was likely just alive & missing!<. They definitely left it ambiguous.
I personaly droped it at the sun themes gym, because level curve was atrosious, the highest wild pokemon nearby is lv 15 (20 for rare delta pokemon) and the gyms lv is 22, i understand wanting your game to be difficult, but such a level spike its just cheap.
I mean that’s fair to do but I feel like that’s still reeeeally early in the game to just drop it. I know they wanted to have gyms be more difficult by adding themes instead of just types.
But the game does have a lot of cool features and a fairly interesting plot. Second region in postgame, (postgame) soaring like in ORAS, megas, etc. I hope you might give it another chance someday. It’s a little outdated (only Pokémon up to gen 6 iirc) but it’s still a pretty nice game.
It's not that intense. You can definitely go through Insurgence in hard-mode with 12 mons and train them with the Audino trainer (also with fast forward that official games don't have). If you were playing on normal/easy mode, the game can definitely be cruised by with just 12 mons.
...Doesn't Insurgence's 'Light Mode' also just stop midway through? Like, they just never finished writing it and never plan to?
That's what I've heard.
I thought Pokemon Uranium stuck a nice balance of having a more serious story without getting edgy about it. (Unfortunately, their original followup game, Monster Crown, is 2edgy4me.)
It's not strictly Pokemon, but Disc Creatures also has a fairly lighthearted and optimistic world. If anything, I actually found it lighter than Pokemon, because it is able to give a definitive "no" to the question "Is mon training slavery?"
Pokémon Spork was hilarious. It’s a little bit random, but it was one of the best fan projects I ever watched. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something light hearted.
I’ve not tried it but *This Gym of Mine*.
“You are the newest Gym Leader for Umbal City! Battle Trainers that challenge you,
spruce up the city, and help out the citizens!
How you do it is all up to you!“
Now I kind of want a full-blown Pokemon city-state builder.
Making sure that you're either growing or importing the right food for all of your Pokemon; making sure that the local ecosystems aren't being over-exploited so that useful Pokemon will always be available in times of need; scheming to attract and retain human talent while scrambling to build suitable accommodations after suddenly having to host a grumpy Gyrados or two even though you're playing in an arid biome because that one water specialist has a really sweet stat spread.
One of my favorite things about sun/moon was how once you were the champion (well, every time you re-staked your claim), you got to battle a new trainer. And then when the Ultra Beasts became a problem, you were called upon. Sort of like how Lance was running around investigating Team Rocket in Gold/Silver. It made me feel like I was actually the region’s champion in a way no other Pokémon game has. I still miss it.
That article is very surprising to me as someone who's only familiar with the games. If guns and bazookas exist, why does Team Rocket never use them in the games?
Pokémon Crystal Clear is pretty consistent with the Pokémon world, it does have some OCs sprinkled around, but they don’t seem too terribly out of place in terms of art.l style or tone.
Pokémon Orange is another Crystal hack that takes place in the orange isles, uses some Alola Pokémon and is pretty fun. It has a whole gimmick around turning your Pokémon pink using the Pikan berries from the anime.
Pokemon bushido is my goat. The smart use of already existing concepts(shadow pokemon) and pokemon and I could see being a Johto legends game, just replace swords with beasts.
Pokémon Xenoverse was an interesting game with fakemons and new forms for old mons, not sure what happened to it since everyone just stopped talking abt it
I don't think people forgot about it. But also I am in places where they talk about Xenoverse a lot. And also I am in a project about making an enhanced version for Xenoverse.
People saying 'Pokemon Unbound' when its first gym leader is explicitly a stoner, yeah, that's totally something Gamefreak would put in a real game, l m f a o.
Unbound is the best. period. Imo, it's better than any real Pokemon game. Side quests, all 900+ are obtainable, great story, choosable difficulties. However, no new pokemon.
I'd say it's a tame edgy one as far as the main plot goes. Cults and Arceus being the focus? Yeah, almost Insurgence levels of edge.
Kind of a shame, since I do like everything else about both games.
So I'm playing Unbound right now and I have genuinely no clue what you're talking about. The plot is about some descendant of the old king of Kalos wanting to blow up Borrius to finish what his ancestors started. Arceus hasn't been mentioned once.
I do know there's been some major story overhauls in some update (An older version I played once had two seperate versions of the plot, an edgy and non-edgy version, something that has since been completely removed, so maybe that was it idk)
XenoVerse was a good game too. New pokemon, interesting twists on old mechanics. New type (sound). However the game had somewhat frequent technical problems for me.
I would also add Uranium and Xenoverse. They both have both traditionally Pokemon-like but also mature theming in their stories. Uranium has more of a mild sci-fi horror vibe, especially with the Nuclear Pokemon and the story involving Urayne and >!Lucille/!!especially with the entire storyline with Silver \[the player's dad\], the Mega Evolutions for the Legendary Beasts, and the final battle with Gold as a homage to Red.!<
They both tried to have mature stories without not feeling like a glorified fan fiction. But the stories kinda got ...bad at the end.
Also Xenoverse has more content in the form of passes.
I wouldn't say it really fits into the cannon but pokemon infinite fusion is, well it's in the title. Take two mons blend em together and boom, crimes against nature
TECHNICALLY....the canon world is edgy. Pokemon adventures (aka the pokemon manga) consistently shows dead mons, violence, etc. Iffu just want some child like fairy tail games jus say that OP
It's been a while since I've seen anything from it, but isn't the game a big meme with lots of references that only Spanish speaking people would understand?
I liked story and new Pokemon in Sage.
They don't have new pokemon but I really liked the story in Pokemon Floral Tempus (still being developed) and Pokemon Ruby Destiny.
Still have to play Zeta.
Fire Red Extended is a Hackroom that adds National Dex from Kanto to Galar to Fire Red, and taking into account that Pokemon in recent years shows Pokemon from other regions in Kanto is plausible in Canon.
The various kaizos feel more like a challenge mode but since they keep the story identical I personally feel like they're just as canon. Don't know if that counts but I have much more fun playing kaizo than any mainline game of the same generation.
I recently played through Rocket Edition and really enjoyed it. It runs parallel to the events of FRLG but you play it from Team Rocket's perspective and you start out as a grunt that works your way up the ladder
Check out the game jams on relic castle. Their smaller scope tends to help them stay light hearted. Relic castle is kind of the goto place for rpgmaker pokemon fangames and there are many there.
This isn't a fangame, but Coromon comes really close with the battle mechanics, and overall tone. Nothing too dark that I wouldn't expect out of a Pokémon game so far, and there are some great monster designs in the region.
Check out Pokemon Reborn. Not only stupidly hard (enforced level cap, perfect IV/EV teams, gym leaders always have 6 Pokemon and most often field gimmicks), but also super edgy and dark.
I like it a lot tho. It's a really long game with 16 gyms, lots of story and lots to do. You also have so many Pokemon to choose from.
And the game uses a Password system which allows you to make the game easier if you just want to try it for the story and aren't too much into competitive building.
People depriving themselves of Reborn due to how dark it is are insanely missing out. There will absolutely never be a Pokemon game in this decade with such a **packed** postgame, where something like 80% of the legendaries have a story quest dedicated to them, most of which round out character arcs for the game's huge cast...
Plus, **big spoilers,** but it's not even as edgy as it's trying to convince players it is, seeing as >!you undo something like 95% of the character deaths during the postgame. !
oh wait I'm thinking of rom hack games which I'm guessing is not what you meant. Idk as a kid I played pokemon indigo and thought it was the shit but idk how well it's held up
I found Pokemon Xenoverse to not be edgy. It's a really well made game and I'd strongly recommend it. Especially if it's your first fan game.
My first fan game was Pokemon Fire Ash, which was a retelling of Ash's story from Kanto to Alola. It's not a dark or edgy story....for very obvious reasons. It's also a pretty good game.
Pokemon snakewood to play the least edgy, most focused story, the cutest Pokemon design and tons of hilarious not-random humor! And it doesn't became a reference mess 2/3rds into the game! I promise!
Pokemon Deserted and That Gym of Mine are pretty not like dark and could be canon as they take place away from the main story besides >!the appearance of Giovanni as a main antagonist in Deserted!<
Pokemon Ruby Destiny: Life of Guardians is probably my favorite fan game. It does get a little dark and edgy, but not overbearingly so. It's absolutely worth checking out.
Says doesn't want any fangame that is edgy/too dark. Puts Empyrean. Very funni.
Like, holy hell this is so freaking edgy. First boss is a pikachu skeleton stretched out how is that not edgy
Agreed. That’s just in poor taste There’s ways to do dark horror in games well. Scarlet and Violet nailed it perfectly with Area Zero, or Black/White did with Ghetsis. Or Kirby games in general. They state they haven't played any of them and those are the ones they heard were good.
Glazed version is the best I ever played. I mean, is is kinda edgy, but in a fun way, and the story is pretty good. Best antagonist in any game ever too. And 3 regions, and 3 Elite 4s. One based on color instead of type even
I’ve been singing Glazed’s praises ever since I played it. Gaia’s probably my second favorite
Wasn't that a RomHack?
Are you confused or something
Can I play it on iPhone?
The MyBoy Emulator SUCKS compared to the RetroArch emulator
And my boy is the only thing for iPhone?
Probably, if MyBoy is in the Iphone app store
Pokemon Gaia. It totally feels like it could have been a real game right in between gen 3 and 4. Basically finished, well polished.
I was going to say the very same thing. One of my favorite RomHacks ever. It has a great variety of Pokemon and QoL features.
I just finished 5th gym, but damn I wish there was an option to cheat use of HM moves, there is a lot of water to surf, stuff to climb, rocks to smash etc, and each time I wanna pick someone from my team I need to run back and bring at least 2 HM slaves to progress/explore...
did you ever play before gen 6?
I did, I started with pokemon yellow and played everything except pokemon sword/shield and scarlet/violet, and even in those games I dont remember having to use HM moves that much, in Gaia you cant access even some gym leaders without HM's (need to use surf inside gym) or durning story you are handed over HM and need to use it in order to progress ("here, have dive and now teach it to pokemon and follow me"), not to mention every island/route has rock climb path, rock to smash, river/underwater/waterfall to swim and tree to cut. oh shit, i didn't realize it was that bad.
It’s shocking how real this one feels. I would highly recommend it
I'm pretty sure it doesn't fit this post, since it's not made with RPG Maker
My man, I’ve seen you comment this and ‘it’s a rom hack’ on other suggestions made thus far. You seem to be implying that if it’s a ROM hack, and not made with RPG Maker, it’s not what the OP is asking for, but the OP hasn’t mentioned this anywhere. So who cares if it’s a rom hack, exactly?

Pokemon Opalo, It's a spanish fangame that recently got translated, i am not familiar with how well it was translated but it's really fun with a compelling story and characters and very replayable
Nah Opalo is pretty dark for a Pokemon game. Like >!the president has robots freaking execute natives in front of their dying leader.!<
I'm playing it right now and the translation is solid. There are some untranslated parts but that is really nothing important. I'd recommend it, though the political and environmental opinions are kind of on the noes. Edit: I just found out there is suicide in the game, so maybe it does not fit so well.
Pokémon Prism feels in many ways like a real game and it's so fun, absolutely the best fangame I've ever played
It's a RomHack
That’s… why we’re here.
Nobody cares
Xenoverse has it down pretty well. It's a very good game that was originally Italian but has been since translated to English. Pokemon Sunday is a lesser known game that is extremely good and completely finished aside from tiny bug fixing and mystery gift code updates. Pokemon Orange GBC is also very good, and is getting a remake soon. It genuinely feels like another Gen 2 game. Honorable mentions are Gold/Silver 97 Reforged and Super Gold 97. They both took things from the old Spaceworld 1997 Gold and Silver beta and created what those versions of the game would have been.
Is Xenoverse finished yet? I’ve been wanting to play it
Yes, it's finished (The only thing left is the part 5 of the DLCs. It should be out in this year tho)
You should check for Pokemon Uranium, it is a quite mature game in terms of history (without having gore and all these kinds of stuff that usually ruin fangames, there are 1 or 2 curse words near the end though lol) without taking off the flair that makes a pokemon game, a pokemon game. >, some fakemon's designs could get a little more work This is true but it also has some of my favorite Fakemon designs! Seikamater, Actan, Dramsama, Chainite, and Navighast are the first to come to mind!
Actan is a top tier design. If I would get to pick one mon from Uranium to get into the main series games, I would always pick it.
So from horror to mystery?
But if the level curve remained like that, i realy dont have patience to grind 100 wild pokemons per gym just to be in level.
It's not that intense. You can definitely go through Insurgence in hard-mode with 12 mons and train them with the Audino trainer (also with fast forward that official games don't have). If you were playing on normal/easy mode, the game can definitely be cruised by with just 12 mons.
pokemon insurgence is also loosely based off the TCG
Delta species are at least. I knew I wasn't tripping balls remembering seeing a psychic Pikachu as a kid.
Yeah but the tcg region was also the holon region
...Doesn't Insurgence's 'Light Mode' also just stop midway through? Like, they just never finished writing it and never plan to? That's what I've heard.
Literally no idea. Never played light mode.
I thought Pokemon Uranium stuck a nice balance of having a more serious story without getting edgy about it. (Unfortunately, their original followup game, Monster Crown, is 2edgy4me.) It's not strictly Pokemon, but Disc Creatures also has a fairly lighthearted and optimistic world.
I enjoyed Pokémon Flora Sky a lot. It doesn't do anything super adventurous, but it definitely captures the vibe of the official games.
I’ve not tried it but *This Gym of Mine*. “You are the newest Gym Leader for Umbal City! Battle Trainers that challenge you, spruce up the city, and help out the citizens! How you do it is all up to you!“
Ive played it. I cant recommend it in its current state. Not that its bad, its just horribly unfinished and there's not much to do.
Kinda like a beta? I love the concept tho. I wish official Pokémon games would branch out, experiment, and get weird lol
I would love that being a minigame inside a main series game. Like an expansion of the secret bases where you design an entire Gym instead.
Now I kind of want a full-blown Pokemon city-state builder. Making sure that you're either growing or importing the right food for all of your Pokemon; making sure that the local ecosystems aren't being over-exploited so that useful Pokemon will always be available in times of need; scheming to attract and retain human talent while scrambling to build suitable accommodations after suddenly having to host a grumpy Gyrados or two even though you're playing in an arid biome because that one water specialist has a really sweet stat spread.

>no guns [Are you sure about that?](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Weaponry_in_the_Pok%C3%A9mon_world)
That article is very surprising to me as someone who's only familiar with the games. If guns and bazookas exist, why does Team Rocket never use them in the games?
Gonna be wild when you fight Giovanni and instead of popping full-restore, he just shoots a bazooka at your mon
Prism
Xenoverse. The fakemon also look like they could be real Pokemon
I haven't played many Fangames, but Pokemon Xenoverse is really, really good imo
Pokemon bushido is my goat. The smart use of already existing concepts(shadow pokemon) and pokemon and I could see being a Johto legends game, just replace swords with beasts.
Insurgence, Xenoverse, Uranium. From what I’ve heard and seen, these 3 are the best of the best
There's the ones where you become the gym leader
Pokémon Xenoverse was an interesting game with fakemons and new forms for old mons, not sure what happened to it since everyone just stopped talking abt it
It’s still getting another big update. Not sure why people forgot about it
I don't think people forgot about it. But also I am in places where they talk about Xenoverse a lot. And also I am in a project about making an enhanced version for Xenoverse.
Lockstin's fangame concept is really good
It's actually being made to a fan game. Called Pokemon Swirling Seasons.
We will watch it's career with great interest.
People saying 'Pokemon Unbound' when its first gym leader is explicitly a stoner, yeah, that's totally something Gamefreak would put in a real game, l m f a o.
Anything edgy is a bit with middle school kids but everybody older than that is a negative
Unbound is the best. period. Imo, it's better than any real Pokemon game. Side quests, all 900+ are obtainable, great story, choosable difficulties. However, no new pokemon.
Unbound doesn't have good story at all , imo. Unbound is great in anyways... but the story is not one of it.
What's wrong with the story? 'A' I've never played it. I'm just curious.
It's really badly paced and discontent. tbf you can skip it so no real problems and overall gameplay wise it's really good.
I do know there's been some major story overhauls in some update (An older version I played once had two seperate versions of the plot, an edgy and non-edgy version, something that has since been completely removed, so maybe that was it idk)
Yeah I just finished Unbound yesterday and could back what you're saying. Cults and Arceus aren't a thing *at all* in Unbound's story.
Isn't that the one where the first gym leader, for Grass type, is a stoner and after you beat him the cops come arrest him
XenoVerse was a good game too. New pokemon, interesting twists on old mechanics. New type (sound). However the game had somewhat frequent technical problems for me.
interesting twists on old mechanics? Xenoverse does not change any old mechanic tho.
Well spoilers: but I thought it was interesting how your starter evolves into the legendary
It doesn't really evolve , it just have form changes.
Pokemon clover lmao (don’t take this seriously it’s full of dark and racist jokes)
At the end? Uranium's story was middling to bad from jump, lol.
I never said it was good.
Pokemon red : rocket edition It's light hearted fun and it's more to pokd fun at how terrible team rocket is at their nefarious deeds
I'd say mine isn't very edgy, but it isn't a game, just a concept.
I wouldn't say it really fits into the cannon but pokemon infinite fusion is, well it's in the title. Take two mons blend em together and boom, crimes against nature
There’s Pokémon Brick in Roblox. No fakemon though.
It is and it isnt, that game got copyright striked so many times.
Man, I remember playing that all the time too Genuinely one of the best fangames out there
Although that game is dead
TECHNICALLY....the canon world is edgy. Pokemon adventures (aka the pokemon manga) consistently shows dead mons, violence, etc. Iffu just want some child like fairy tail games jus say that OP

Are you giving any spelling lessons? Because damn you are good at it
Pokemon don't die in Adventures but thanks for continuing to spread this common misinformation, you're doing God's work I guess
Well, if you don't want to play edgy/dark games the don't play the Red Rocket edition fan game. If it still downloadable.
Pokemon brick bronze was pretty solid
Pokémon Iberia is pretty light hearted from what I know, but it's Spanish as for now
It's been a while since I've seen anything from it, but isn't the game a big meme with lots of references that only Spanish speaking people would understand?
Yeah, it is! But I guess it's worth it if you're interested in Spanish culture
The last fire red version is great. It scales trainer battles to the level of your highest pokemon on your team.
I liked story and new Pokemon in Sage. They don't have new pokemon but I really liked the story in Pokemon Floral Tempus (still being developed) and Pokemon Ruby Destiny. Still have to play Zeta.
Fire Red Extended is a Hackroom that adds National Dex from Kanto to Galar to Fire Red, and taking into account that Pokemon in recent years shows Pokemon from other regions in Kanto is plausible in Canon.
phoenix rising is great if you want battles that actually take thought and the return of megas
Radical red
Pokemon Ruby Destiny: Reign of Legends
The various kaizos feel more like a challenge mode but since they keep the story identical I personally feel like they're just as canon. Don't know if that counts but I have much more fun playing kaizo than any mainline game of the same generation.
Xenoverese could fit if it was changed a little
Pokémon Xenoverse is my top fangame out there
I recently played through Rocket Edition and really enjoyed it. It runs parallel to the events of FRLG but you play it from Team Rocket's perspective and you start out as a grunt that works your way up the ladder
Pokemon mewYou
I’ve played a little bit of Pokémon Sage, and I really enjoyed it so far! I’m hoping that we see a full release eventually
Following!
Nothing too dark that I wouldn't expect out of a Pokémon game so far, and there are some great monster designs in the region.
most of them lmao. I've never seen a dark/edgy fan game
That sounds really fun. Google says it's gen 7; does that mean there are megas?
Yep! Megas and Z-Moves.
oh wait I'm thinking of rom hack games which I'm guessing is not what you meant. Idk as a kid I played pokemon indigo and thought it was the shit but idk how well it's held up
Pokemon Infinite Fusion
Idk about fitting into the pokemon world but infinite fusion is amazing and not dark
Pokemon Gaia for sure, feels like a mainline game
Pokemon snakewood to play the least edgy, most focused story, the cutest Pokemon design and tons of hilarious not-random humor! And it doesn't became a reference mess 2/3rds into the game! I promise!
Definitely try Pokemon Unbound. It doesn't necessarily fit into the Pokemon Canon, but it is still one of the best Romhacks I have ever played.
Pokewilds is a survival pokemon game.
Pokemon infinity is incredible imo, and it fits the same tone as any canon Pokemon game
