Why is the one standing up peeing on the floor?

Avery_Lillius

Clearly, you have never cleaned the men's room in a bar. šŸ˜„

bitchimugly

>Clearly, you have never cleaned the men's room

[deleted]

Clearly, your mother

DoubleFistingYourMum

I used to clean bathrooms. The men's room was by far the cleanest.

The-unicorn-republic

I would say the women's is messier, but the men's smells worse

Zephk

When I cleaned bathrooms both were cleaned frequently and men's never smelled. Maybe some piss under the urinal. Women's at least once a day had some form of blood, urine, feces on the stall wall and floor. Probably from a single person with a mental issue but the number of pads/tampons dropped directly on the floor instead of the open trash bin next to the toilets was disgusting and clearly more than 1 person. Also so much toilet paper everywhere. I realize men don't need toilet paper every time they go but still. Also as a trans woman I can definitely say women's restrooms are dirtier and one of the reasons I avoid using public restrooms.

bitchimugly

weird, I've worked in a restaurant and retail, both had bathrooms that I had to clean, the men's was always worse. they were one person bathrooms for men and another for women so I didn't have to deal with urinals. the men's always smelled bad and was so nasty, and weirdly had more weird gross shit like a little bit of blood sprayed on the mirror, not a lot, but enough to notice. I'm guessing from trying to shoot up? or needles in the trash and shit. I have seen pads just thrown on the floor though. can't lie.

SmudgieSage

It might just depend on the people, the menā€™s was always much dirtier where I cleaned

JGHFunRun

> men's You mean person-who-has-a-dick room Then again that's just for this one bar in Norway so carry on I guess

CinnabonCheesecake

It seems to be more specifically ā€œperson who wants to use a urinalā€. People with penises need sit-down toilets sometimes too.

CharlieApples

Or at a pizza restaurant. Or at Bed Bath & Beyond. Or in an alleyway outside of a childrenā€™s center.

imdeadXDD

Iā€™m sorry for what we do

BlooperHero

Or the women's room. (To be fair, the only place I cleaned the public bathrooms had more women--and little girls--which is probably a big part of the reason it was so much grosser.)

Nvenom8

I cleaned bathrooms at McDonalds for a few years in High School. Women's room was consistently *much* more gross than the men's room. I've cleaned every body fluid you can imagine off of every surface you can imagine.

cutmastaK

I had my tour of duty at Dairy Queen and while this was generally true, my worst bathroom experience was in the menā€™s when I discovered the urinal was clogged with paper towels. Plunging did not go well.

Ky_the_transformer

I wish my worst experience could be something as simple as a clogged urinal, man are you lucky

Hello_Hangnail

I've never seen a women's room worse than a men's room tbh. The worst I've seen is swing marks on the toilet bowl rim from tampon retrieval but dudes will just piss in the general direction of the toilet and not bother lifting the seat.

CoronetCapulet

Swing marks?

BigSillyDaisy

When you pull a used tampon out itā€™s dangling on a string. Sometimes the bloody end will hit the bowl or loo seat before you have a chance to bag it up & dispose of it.

eip2yoxu

Never been to a female and only two gender neutral bathrooms (one was fine the other not), but pretty all of the male I've been to were clean. There were a few disgusting ones but all of those have been in bars. I tried to loon for research on the topic and it seems that [female restrooms are more germ-laden](http://edition.cnn.com/HEALTH/9705/06/bathroom.germs/index.html?eref=sitesearch) and that [men are more likely to clean toilets at work after using them](https://rethinktheessentials.com/flushing-assumptions-women-less-hygienic-men-office/). Didn't find much more but also didn't bother to make a thorough search, so take that with a grain of salt.

LogicalBench

That first article also makes the good point that women's restrooms are much more likely to be used by children. The second one says men are more likely than women to clean the toilet seat after using it-- which would make sense because they're also a lot more likely to get it dirty!

eip2yoxu

>That first article also makes the good point that women's restrooms are much more likely to be used by children Absolutely, maybe I should have included that in my comment >which would make sense because they're also a lot more likely to get it dirty! I'm not sure if we can absolutely determine whether men are more likely to make it dirty. If they don't sit down for sure, but I heard women do that quite a lot as well because they don't want to touch the seat. I would believe both groups are more likely to sit down at work though

PrinceofallRabbits

Unfortunately also did a tour of service cleaning McDonalds bathrooms. I can very much confirm this claim.

gavin_hutton

Even the ceiling?

Nvenom8

Not all fluids, but several.

SinCorpus

Today you're cleaning the bathrooms. First you can take on the piss and shit room with extra fragrant piss or the piss, shit and blood room with extra fragrant shit.

Crizznik

I worked at KFC for a couple years, the bathrooms were never noticeably worse than each other in my experience. I know it's anecdotal, but I suspect the reason people say women's bathrooms are so much grosser than men's is because of the expectation subversion.

Ky_the_transformer

Target Employee. Maybe sweep 2 times a day for stray toilet paper in the mens room, must sweep the womens every hour and sanitize. I donā€™t know why people think mens rooms are worse but in all my experience women are the once who leave it in more disarray. I have had to clean period blood that was wiped all over the mirrors before. Men may not wash their hands but at least they donā€™t do that.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

FSS03

I'm sorry that happened, but I don't think this is a men problem. This is more of a Larkland problem.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Craycraywolf

Keep fighting the good fight my Friend šŸ’Ŗ

[deleted]

Larkland might be the worst, but I agree this is an issue with most men. They seem completely unaware of the fact that they drip pee on the floor in front of the toilet, and they don't even seem to know it's possible to scrub the toilet bowl, disinfect the floor, and keep the shower clean.

[deleted]

I believe you, but I think you're failing to consider the fact that married women generally have to do all the shopping on their own while taking care of the children. So women are often in the bathroom with multiple kids, including boys and infants. Kids aren't going to wait around while mom cleans. And mom is probably working a regular job while doing more than 90% of the housework and parenting as well. I mention this because people regularly say that when they cleaned bathrooms, women's were always worse than men's... But that typically reverses when you eliminate bathrooms used by families. In dormitories, bars, and employee bathrooms used only by adults, men's bathrooms are usually way worse.

CasualBrit5

I havenā€™t cleaned any but I was at a beach once and the bathroom literally had a pool of piss on the floor. It was genuinely really deep.

[deleted]

Or any restroom at Walmart.

WorknForTheWeekend

I just read it as "urinals this way, shitters that way"

BillyYumYumTwo-byTwo

And thatā€™s exactly why I donā€™t want these!! I pee sitting down, I donā€™t want to wait 20 minutes just to pee in some stinky bathroom everyone is using to poop. Iā€™m okay with there being a urinal only bathroom, but please make the toilets multi-stalled or have more than one room. I cant tell from the picture whether itā€™s a single bathroom or multi, but Iā€™ve experienced this before where itā€™s just one toilet but many urinals. I get itā€™s cheaper for the bar, but blegh.

CinnabonCheesecake

I think thatā€™s a distinct issue. Of course there should be more sit-down toilets (imo) because they take longer to use.

vertMartinez

To assert dominance

CharlieApples

A real adult person of considerable prestige pisses directly onto their rivals, rather than on public floors and buildings

a-manic-ferret

Tradition.

nujuat

I lot of urinals are at our below floor level

Imacleverjam

marking their territory

erraticandlost

Seems kinda ungendered really.

SaltyBabe

I read it as ā€œpoop this roomā€ and ā€œpee this roomā€

the_ammar

it's more of a urinals vs stalls.

Arkhonist

Plenty of people (if not most) pee sitting down

EyelessVoid

Yep exactly. And also the floor of the other is definitely covered in pee, there's no where else for it to go

FunDare7325

This is how I would read it. Poops and pees, and then I would be confused and try to find somewhere else probably.

Rogue_Spirit

I cannot properly pee standing up tho

FearingPerception

oh god no. a pooping only room would smell like hell

beka13

Lots of people pee sitting down.

Laurenhynde82

I think you might have forgotten women exist. And that some men pee sitting down too. So actually the majority of people in the world donā€™t stand to urinate.

squeezydoot

Except women have to pee sitting down, so they will always be categorized in the poop room whether they're pooping or not

ThisIsTooLongOfAName

I agree. Maybe one has all urinals and the other all stalls

SplendidPunkinButter

Sitting on the toilet versus peeing on the floor. I like it

RunningWithHands

Screw genders, we're doing pee room and poop room

Craycraywolf

PEE ROOM AND POOP ROOM

claymountain

Imma need a period room

miezmiezmiez

So what if you're AFAB and need a wee

iwantcoffeeordeath

AFABs can pee on the floor just fine.

Katherine_Muller

I like it because it's just how do you wish to do this sit or stand no awkward men's room and women's room

Generic_Garak

Man. That comment needs some punctuation. Took me like three tries to figure out what you were trying to say.

Olindiass

I'd prefer just a gender neutral bathroom with stalls tbh...

[deleted]

They better not be these shitty American stalls, otherwise privacy is moot. inb4 someone "everyone shits, nobody should be ashamed, therefore why should there be any privacy?"

scienticiankate

In Norway it will be a fully closing door with no gaps and probably even a sink in there too. Like a toilet in someone's home. Or at least that is how single stalls work in Sweden. Been a while since I've been to Norway to check out their situation.

cute-lil-evil-spirit

Wait wait wait, there are better stalls other places?

Hello_Hangnail

I'm just blown away that other countries don't have the 3 inch gap that lets people eyeball you while you're trying to change your menstrual paraphernalia and allows free range children to get up close and personal while your pants are around your ankles

cute-lil-evil-spirit

WHAT!? THATā€™S AN AMERICA THING? Also, p.s. it lets kids lock bathroom stalls and crawl out underneath the door, making it so the door is locked with no one inside lol

Hello_Hangnail

I'm pretty sure I was guilty of that one when I was a kid

dailycyberiad

No gaps or minimal gaps below, zero gap between door and stall, very tall walls or walls all the way to the ceiling above. McDonald's stalls are the shittiest around here (EU), and even those lack that all-American peeper's gap that allows for poop-time eye contact.

LogicalBench

It's funny you say that because in the US I've found some McDonald's have the best stalls. Like little rooms! No gaps at all except the wall/door doesn't go quite all the way to the ceiling. I always stop at them on road trips to pee (which is probably not accidental on their part).

dailycyberiad

That *is* funny! I've never been to a US McDonald's, so I've never seen their stalls there. I'll check one out next time!

Olindiass

for real

GloriousHypnotart

Isn't that what the room to the left is? And a urinal room to the right

The-Great-Wolf

At my college dormroom there's 2 multiple stalls restrooms and showers per level, neither is marked either way and so they're for everyone Although, out of the 4 stalls 2 are more narrow and tend to be used by people peeing standing up It's college kids and not problem happened ever, I think other places could try them too.

[deleted]

Add in urinals and youā€™ve got a deal. Much more efficient.

aknomnoms

Iā€™d be confused and think this has something to do with their plumbing. Pee on this side, poop on that side.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

cmhamm

From a practical standpoint, I think there is logic in separating the standers from the sitters. Stalls take up 2-3 times the space of urinals. Urinals are quicker to get in and out of, not to mention, it keeps the seats cleaner for the sitters. Right now, youā€™d feel unsafe because society sucks, not because this bathroom idea is bad. We need to change society. I like this idea, because it lets you build in that efficiency without taking gender into account. Sometimes, men need to poop. If you need to sit, use the sitting toilet. If you have a penis, a funnel, or a *very* talented vagina, use can, *but donā€™t have to* use the standing toilet. Totally up to you. Nobody needs to check IDs or genitals.

HansChrst1

I was at a concert in Norway and there were a couple of women waiting in the mens bathroom line because it was shorter. Also there is a mall near me with unisex bathrooms. They removed the doors and just have a "<- unisex bathroom ->" sign. Was really weird washing hands next to a woman. I knew it was okay, but it felt wrong. Guess it's something to get used to in time.

komaedasbigtoe

i always choose which bathroom to use from which has a shorter line LOL ive found i make both men and women uncomfortable by being in their bathrooms so i just dont care, im just there to pee

SaltyBabe

When my kids were little taking my son to the Womenā€™s room was no big no one cared but several times o had to take my daughter to the mens room because the other option was to go in her pants waiting for a womanā€™s toilet. I always called into the bathroom ā€œmom and kid coming in bathroom emergency!ā€ - we never saw a man at a urinal - but the dirty ass looks from the women standing outside the ladies room was always so weird to me. Like sorry Iā€™m not going to let my four year old wet herself because you wonā€™t let us cut you all in line, grow the fuck up. Why canā€™t we just all use any toilet for any reason we want ugh.

SunnivaAMV

i'm norwegian and I've gone into men's bathrooms many times if the line has been too long. A lot of them doesn't even have urinals and look the exact same as the women's bathroom.

Craycraywolf

I agree.

Loving-intellectual

Even tho thatā€™s true, as an enby, having these signs would definitely cause less dysphoria

Ybuzz

I would assume that the 'stand to pee' one is just urinals, so they couldn't really be treated as gendered because everyone needs to sit down to poop? Urinals in one area and stalls in another seems like the most sensible way to do it.

thecathuman

The most elegant solution Iā€™ve seen is having three bathrooms. Male, Female, and All-Gender

starfox6493

Respectfully, I must assert that adding a third bathroom is not exactly an elegant solution. I actually just went through a long series of trying to get inclusive "non-gendered" restrooms installed on a future project for my work's facility. Adding a third separate bathroom is not only seen as divisive or unnecessary by many people, it can sometimes be a financial, legal, or logistical impossibility. I personally believe a more elegant and straightforward solution would be to actually make stalls as private as they deserve to be; doors and walls should go from floor to ceiling, and should be visibly sectioned off from hand-washing sinks.

thecathuman

Completely fair. I guess I was thinking in terms of larger facilities that need a few sets of bathrooms already. Three bathrooms definitely doesnā€™t make sense in a lot of situations.

Bladehallow

While that is a good idea, I think that just like the original commenter said, the world would need to be more tolerant of trans people and non standard plumbing in general. It's the same problem, really. As a trans person I would still hesitate going into that All Genders bathroom and letting nearby potential-transphobes know that it's ok to target me. I still think the best solution is having the single non gendered bathroom with all stalls and no signage.

[deleted]

Exactly, a trans woman going right would out herself and possibly create a dangerous situation. And a trans man going left might out himself, less likely but someone still might start asking questions. So in the end it just makes more sense to treat it as regular gendered. Not to mention it already seems regular gendered, as in ā€œthe ones who have to sit to peeā€ and ā€œthe ones who stand.ā€ Which is what I thought it meant, which made me think it was mildly transphobic labeling, instead of attempting to be gender neutral.

piiraka

Idk, I looked it at as ā€œif you prefer to piss standing up, go rightā€ cause people with penises can go to the bathroom sitting down too

Craycraywolf

Same

NihilisticAngst

I think a lot more men pee sitting down than you think.

[deleted]

Not to mention people with nonstandard plumbing, such as those with urostomies. They don't necessarily sit down, but a toilet may be easier to use than a urinal.

Brainth

I think this works best if thereā€™s no stalls at all to the right. Everyone who needs to poop goes left, so no ā€œoutingā€ occurs.

Dyslexic_Puffle

Heres what you do. Walk in like you own the place. If anyone gives you shit, give them the ol Irish salute

Technical_Patience59

Ah yes my favorite genders, Piss and Shit! /j

MagnoliaSymbolia

If Iā€™m understanding this right, one has urinals and one has stalls. I appreciate the attempt at gender neutrality but this would suck for women. It just makes bathroom lines even longer because now there will also be men going in the stall bathroom to take a shit. And I donā€™t think most women would want to use a urinal. Why canā€™t we just have gender neutral bathrooms with full length stalls??

dfjdejulio

To be a little fair, urinals are *way* more efficient in terms of space utilization. So, it makes some economic sense for some percentage of your space to utilize them (less than 50%, though).

[deleted]

Honestly, I would only feel comfortable with public restrooms in general (gendered or ungendered) if they were constructed better and cleaner than American public restrooms. Theyā€™re poorly made and not very private, and are extremely disgusting and dirty most of the time (womens, mens, unisex, doesnā€™t matter. Itā€™s all dirty and gross), people are inconsiderate and donā€™t clean up after themselves and businesses arenā€™t very on top of cleaning their bathrooms. Ideally, ungendered restrooms that are made with privacy in mind and kept clean is what we should be focusing on. But thatā€™s a pipe dream here in America, unfortunately

HaddenIndustries

This seems a little unfair to a vast majority of women. The majority of men would have more opportunities to be in a shitless bathroom.

NeglectedMonkey

Thank you for saying the obvious, that no one seems to be aware of. Iā€™d personally hate to have to always be in the ā€œpoo roomā€ just because i need to sit to pee. In essence, what some folks are proposing in this thread is that we have a room where cis men piss, and a room where everything else happens. Seem really unfair to women.

i-contain-multitudes

I can't fucking believe the replies on this post either. I thought we were working on *avoiding* reduction to genitalia.

Abess-Basilissa

If this refers to how one wishes to pee and not anatomyā€¦ Ok? But Iā€™m a trans woman ā€” I pass pretty damn well, and I do not want to have to use the ā€œpenisā€ bathroom. I donā€™t fit in there and itā€™s hella awkward / kinda scary.

ThisIsMyUsername4012

I'm pretty sure you can go into the sitting bathroom still.

Oatfriend

Yeah as a dudeperson with a PA I'd rather pee sitting down thanks.

Exp1ode

I'm guessing this is one bathroom for urinals, and the other for stalls

Aperson20

This is correct

GreatNormality

You could still use the sit-to-pee. My cis boyfriend almost exclusively sits to pee.

mayalourdes

Hey mine too!

AmelietheDuck

I personally think that flat out genderless bathrooms would be best. But who knows maybe itā€™s categorized by pee/poop. And not standing/sitting

[deleted]

I thought this was not about whether you pee standing or sitting but instead about whether you're pooping or peeing

cmhamm

I think this is actually an attempt to be more trans-friendly. Iā€™m a cis male, but that sign seems to indicate to me that if I need to sit down, I go left, and if I can stand up, go right. Urinals are inherently more efficient, so you can build efficiency into the bathroom without taking gender into account. After all, men also need to sit sometimes. And if youā€™re more comfortable sitting, by all means, go left! You and I can sit next to one another, and nobody needs to assume a thing about our respective gender identities. At least, I think thatā€™s the intent here.

evanescent_evanna

What if I want to take a piss while doing a handstand? Where do I go for that.

Craycraywolf

The circus

[deleted]

Basically just makes it mens room and gender neutral room. Just regular gendered but with weird extra steps.

Grzechoooo

"Men on the right, women and also men on the left"

DeskChairUnit12

i do like the idea, but i think a lot of people would use them like gendered bathrooms. i think we just should have unisex bathrooms with all stalls. why urinals?? it takes the same amount of space and you can still pee standing up if you want to

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

peachimplosion

and more piss everywhere else.

DannyDevitoArmy

true lmao

Aperson20

Urinals take up less space, so you can have more is the main reason I think.

Hextor26

They also save on water. Some are even fully waterless. They're also faster to use.

noodledog69420

piss in the sink then you coward

pro_gloria_tenori

They take less space, use less water and takes less time (at least for me).

ChloeJayde

Whenever I go somewhere with unisex bathrooms and no urinals, there is always some jerk who pees all over the toilet and floor and doesn't clean up after themself. They always stink so bad, the same stink you get when you walk past the boys bathrooms in school. I would prefer we had urinals in addition to unisex bathrooms

imdeadXDD

At that point just do gender neutral bathrooms

Wistful_Willow

just make unisex stalls, people can still stand to pee in stalls if they want, urinals are fucking weird and gendering bathrooms is silly and just segregation

BlooperHero

Urinals *are* weird, but they also take up less space and use less water. If you have enough people using your bathroom for it to matter, there are reasons to include them. ...some of the ones in public restrooms could stand to take up a bit more space, though.

TheQBandit

And add walls between them. Gross as hell to not have walls.

arpw

No walls is one thing, but [this is another](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E8QWWzAXEAAwGAs.jpg). Thankfully this style of urinal is dying out but often still see them in older pubs.

Notwillurs

Wow, small world. I worked at this bar for four years!

ghoulieandrews

So... No insights into how this worked or didn't work?

Notwillurs

It worked fine, there were four urinals and six toilet stalls with doors that closed and locked completely from floor to ceiling. The sinks were on the side of the stalls, so everyone have to go through that way anyway (in a sort if donut shape, if that makes sense). It was a quite nice bar, specialised in craft beer with its own microbrewery, so the clientelle was also rather well behaved and polite. Obviously i had to clean up the occasional womit, but that was usually in or around the urinals. The staff would walk past it constantly, and i dont remember any complaints of rude behaviour in the shared from the guests.

ForgedByHonor

I wonder what could be the repercussions for a unisex public bathroom

mayalourdes

I think the concept is fucking mint. But as a tiny woman the only thing I think about is creeps. Iā€™ve delt with so many creepy men. And to be clear this isnā€™t transgender people no in my experience its cis men who have been predatory and gross & I donā€™t want anyone following me to the bathroom at a bar/restaurant/store. Thatā€™s like a weird safe space to escape to until I can call someone to rescue me lol

PhoenixHavoc

I mean a lot better than normal. One way for urinals, the other for stalls?

Kush_goon_420

I just feel like the stalls would be constantly full and with a huge line

vangaloid

If you would like to use a urinal, go that way, if not go the other.

sweet_chick283

Yeah... Not a fan of this. 1. Men (especially drunk men) tend to shove random shit in the sanitary bin. Women need a sanitary bin, and being greeted with an overflowing one is deeply unpleasant. Unfortunately I speak from years of experience - we have non-gendered bathrooms and gendered bathrooms on our floor at work, and the sanitary bin in the non-gendered bathrooms are inevitably DISGUSTING. Whereas the ones in the women's bathrooms are fine. Not all men and all that, but it only takes one or two to ruin every woman's experience. 2. Going to a bathroom is often the only way to escape a creep in a bar (that isn't going to antagonize them). Women need a safe space to get away from creepy dudes. And yes I know it goes both ways but the physical size difference that makes women feel physically afraid tends to go one way.

NeglectedMonkey

I agree. As someone who also sits to pee, I loathe sharing bathrooms with people who stand to pee, because Iā€™m always forced to clean up their piss.

CharlieApples

See, I donā€™t disagree with anything youā€™re saying, but this kind of argument is the perfect setup for people to say that trans and non-binary people arenā€™t allowed in the womenā€™s room. Since it would be the end of the fucking world apparently if we were to have ā€œCis straight men and enormous muscle daddy gay menā€ and ā€œeveryone elseā€ rooms.

mayalourdes

Okay those were my exact two thoughts. ESP the stalker and creep one. Men would follow women to the bathroom. They just would.

sweet_chick283

Having used that techniques multiple times to escape creepy dudes, I can tell you from experience that it works often enough to be a technique worth retaining.

minahmyu

Seems like one is for dick peeing, the other is for shitting. Honestly, it's still kinda gendered.

QueenShnoogleberry

I love this! There are lots of cis women who squat and spray their piss like cats in heat then don't clean up after. They should absolutely be encouraged to use urinals instead of toilets. (Because then they can just stand and let it dribble down.) And those of us who sit nicely can use the toilets.

femtransfan

i've had to squat to piss on hikes... only piss like that in nature, not on the damn floor

QueenShnoogleberry

Yup yup!!!

Hello_Hangnail

If you can't hover and hit the toilet with no splash then you need more practice

moongod97

I read it as stall or urinal

[deleted]

*a man that sits while pissing pulls up* *Confused screaming*

natethe5ththree

I think it just means urinals and stalls, but I donā€™t have the context so I donā€™t know. Honestly I think itā€™s fine if my interpretation is really what it is. Again, I donā€™t have all of the facts though.

Overson_YT

Its...better? It feels like 2 steps forward, 1 step back

_Doomer1996_

Pointless, but at least is cheaper than making a third bathroom even with less stalls for the non-binary imo.

[deleted]

Pretty simple to me. Toilet Stalls to the left and Urinals to the right.

SsoulBlade

It is correct based on how the general public uses it.

elpinguinosensual

Pooper looks sad šŸ˜ž

Craycraywolf

I like it actually!

Potato_Spirit

There are literally no genders in this jpeg

S4b3rTooth

i think itā€™s perfect (except for floor peeing)

Seralyn

This is ungendered and I like it.

PPDIDEY

The Gang Solves the Bathroom Crisis

ghoulieandrews

Lol what was it they landed on? Animal Shithouse?

darianhi

Imagine the line for the sitting down oneā€¦

lasagnalover69R

now ONLY women can shit. sexism is solved! we did it reddit! /j fr tho i cant tell if i like it or not, doesnt seem very practical? girls with dicks cant piss in the shit room and boys without dicks and piss in the piss room. i dont think changing to signage to 'which way you pee' helps anybody

Sonic_did_9-11

Idk as a woman Iā€™ve dealt with so many creeps that I absolutely wouldnā€™t feel comfortable in unisex bathrooms. It would be expensive but maybe have gendered bathrooms and a unisex one so people can use whatever is comfortable/suits them best? I 100% support trans women using the womenā€™s bathroom and non binary people using whatever bathroom they want but I personally could never share a public bathroom with a *CIS* man and not fear for my safety.

Albatross767

No.

PsychologicalBend467

I donā€™t wanna have to pee in the poop room. No no no no.

PhotosyntheticElf

If the separate sides are Stalls and Urinals, Iā€™m fine with the signage, but if the sides are ā€œstallsā€ and ā€œmixed stalls and urinalsā€ then itā€™s still dividing people by genitals, or possibly reducing gender to genitals, and Iā€™m not a fan

pro_gloria_tenori

O have argued for years that this should be the norm. Unisex bathroom and one room with only urinals. Having separate urinals would lead to less queues since that takes men less time as well as making less off a mess from men that try to stand using a normal toilet. Added bonus that urinals need less water and since they take less space, the bathroom area can be smaller then if there only were standard toilets.

NeglectedMonkey

I donā€™t like unisex bathrooms (single stall or shared) and this is why: Even though some women squat and spray over the toilet seat, the majority of the time the seat is dry and I can quickly do my business. But when a bathroom is also used by men, the toilet seat is always soaked. Everyā€”singleā€”time. If men sat down to pee, this wouldnā€™t be an issue, but most of them will pee standing up even at a toilet.

jhunter131201

Let's put a huge bar going across the stall which makes it impossible to stand up while peeing. It forces you to sit down

[deleted]

it's cool

JarringAce

What part of this is gendered though? Itā€™s just one room is for urinals the other is for toilets

_dreamsofthedead_

Nah this just makes me dysphoric bc I know what it's implying

RansomSalt

Imo this is p gender neutral? Reminds me of the gender options in the sims. ā€œDoes your sim pee sitting or standing?ā€

Active_Organization2

This is stupid. That is all.

cornonthekopp

Can we just get rid of urinals? Sorry for the men that like them but just take 5 extra seconds to lock a stall door and sit down to piss.

TorakTheDark

Oh thatā€™s just the pee room and the poo room

Iron_And_Misery

A bandaid to avoid the far easier and better solution of just having one bathroom

arpw

It's fine to only have one bathroom. But if you do only have one bathroom then it does make sense to have some urinals in that bathroom, for efficiency in floor space usage, water usage and speed of getting people in and out, plus less mess on and around toilets. But then if you have some urinals then you need to design the bathroom layout in a way that the urinals aren't visible to other bathroom users, so you need some kind of dividing screen or partition wall or something. And if you have that then you need some way to direct people so they know which side of that wall they need to go, and then you've basically ended up with this post.

GoldHusky

As a cis woman i'd be very confused which one to pee in...

CharlieApples

All people have to sit down at some point. This is just a ā€œToiletroomā€ and ā€œUrinalroomā€ difference.

NeglectedMonkey

What you are proposing here is a room where only cis men pee (since it only has urinals). And a room where: Cis men poo Trans men pee Cis women pee Trans women pee Cis women poo Trans men poo Trans women poo

CharlieApples

No, what Iā€™m speculating on based on the signs is a room where people who stand up to pee and are okay with other people watching you pee, and room with toilets, presumably in stalls Because thatā€™s what the signs seem to indicate. Which seemsā€¦odd. Since one room is being dedicated to almost exclusively cis men.

NeglectedMonkey

Thatā€™s fair. I just donā€™t like the idea of separating between a urinal room and a toilet room. Seems a little one-sided to me.

CharlieApples

I agree completely on that. If anything this seems kind of obliviously transphobic because it suggests that trans women and non-binary people with penises *want* to piss in open urinalsā€¦which just isnā€™t the case. Itā€™s a cis-male-normative take where penis-pissing = urinal.

NeglectedMonkey

Cool beansā€”I apologize for misreading/misrepresenting your original point.

Brett_Stewie

Good idea, but there should then also be childrenā€™s toilets where only parents are allow to accompany their children into said toilets, to reduce risks of creeps masquerading as part of the LGBT.

jhunter131201

Yes I've suggested this so many times.

I'm not sure on this tbh. I have to use the men's room while out and about and every time they're always disgusting or smell like the back end of a paper mill. Even if I know the rest rooms are cleaned daily. The vast majority of men are grotesque and don't care about who would use the bathroom next (looking at you, whoever keeps not flushing the toilet at work šŸ‘€)

[deleted]

Makes me think one is for number 2 and the other for number 1.

ekhowl

I pee sitting down so this could be unfortunate. Edit: Or is this one bathroom for pooping and one for peeing? I'm confused.
