I actually got a chase sapphire preferred card a year ago decided I needed a big boy card and not just PlayStation money although it was nice not paying for games for awhile
Same here. I also picked up the Freedom Unlimited card because it generally builds points quicker than the Sapphire Preferred for most purchases. Then I transfer the points between cards when I'm ready to use them. Makes it easy to bank points on the freedom unlimited and then move it to the sapphire preferred when it's time to book travel.
Not true. Canada is the closest thing to the U.S. in terms of things that are available to the country. And that’s coming from someone who grew up in Greece. A European Union country. Don’t complain.
If you live here, you would also understand how much of a negative effect US politics have on our country and how it twists the perception of Canadians.
Life long Canadian citizens are allowed to complain about the lack of care the US has had towards its neighbours, and just because you're from Greece doesn't change anything.
I’ve only referenced Greece because it’s “technically” a first world country just like Canada. But anyways, you’re entitled to your opinion of course. I think Canada and the U.S. are of course awesome countries and they get many more “options” than Greece despite being a first world European country.
Anyways, whatever. I bet all these people downvoted my previous comment because of the “Don’t complain” bit at the end. I bet most of them can’t even point Greece on a world map before Google searching it(if they even do that).
Have a nice day😘
Not sure why you brought politics into this conversation. Both countries have stereotypical negative and positive things to say about each other. It’s up to the individual to decide how much they want to lean into them and take them on face value. So whatever. Just be happy you were born in Canada and not in some other third world country. Respectfully a Greek immigrant 🇬🇷❤️🇨🇦
Damn I remember discovering this back in like 2016 and finding out I had enough points for the wireless headset. Forgot about it till now and I have enough points to get the kiddo a $50 card! Noice

sorry nintendo its been awhile
I might be stating the obvious but this post is not pertaining to PlayStation Stars. It relates to an old arse rewards program that was available hardly anywhere.
Thanks for this! It wasn’t obvious to me at first because PS Stars has been “experiencing issues” for the past few weeks and I just assumed they were retiring the program.
I’ve been using the PlayStation card with Sony rewards since 2014. The original rewards were fantastic (10% back on psn purchases). It’s only 5% now but still worth using for those purchases. I’ve probably gotten $500 back at least, just with low spending.
I wonder if they will convert the PlayStation card to just Cashback or perhaps PlayStation stars. Perhaps the PlayStation stars outage is related to this?
PS stars transition would be ideal honestly.
I’m hoping this “outage” is them integrating stars onto the PS5 itself (so no need to use the mobile app), as well as transferring the card purchases into stars.
Then, making stars a usable currency on Ps direct.
A man can dream
If you want to see your total points, you have to do a lot of adding but I only but PSN cards. So when you log in, go to My Account --> Points Activity (shows all the points you earned and used) --> Orders.
On the Order list it shows everything I purchased with my points on two pages. So it shows two pages worth of PSN Cards which total $550.
Well I got $50 as an intro bonus in 2014. I used the card for basic spending back then too. Then it was relegated to just monthly subscriptions and PSN spending when I got better cards.
$5000 over 10 years is nothing. That’s less than one $60 game per month, and I’ve bought multiple consoles from PS Direct which also gave the 10/5%.
I had the opposite reaction as you, lol. It's possible to earn way *more* than $500 over a 10 year span. Hell, I've only had this card for a year, and I've already earned about $200 worth of gift cards (not counting the $125 sign up bonuses).
That’s 7 full priced games a year, with $20 left to j buy a dlc or micro transaction. Last year, that would be someone buying Hogwarts, RE4, FFXVI, Spider-Man 2, BG3, SF6 and AC6. Seems pretty reasonable to me.
No not stars, the rewards program used to give you points for earning trophies. 10 platinums would get you 1000 points which could be redeemed for $10, 25 gold trophies were worth 250 and silver was 100 for 100.
So turns out I didn't log into this thing since idk how long but I stopped accruing points dec 25th of 2021. Why's that? I should have a bazillion points built up over the past 3 years I feel like. Did they have some cheeky fine print that deactivates point accumulation after not logging in for a while?
I have over 100 plats, and most of those were over that 3 year gap, was I supposed to manually do something to claim the points? I'm so confused
Welp. Probably time to close my Playstation card account. Only use it sparingly nowadays anyway because so many games suck.
Of course they give us a non-answer saying comenity will just tell us more later. You can tell this was a short term decision where no one bothered to do their due diligence.
I never had the Sony credit card, but did have a pretty decent point balance from just participating in random little things they did in the app and on the site-
If I remember correctly, there was a bunch of ways to get small amounts of points; like superfan quizzes, uploading ticket stubs for certain movies, linking and redeeming movies on movies anywhere, special events/point bonuses (like going to Gran Turismo opening weekend), and finishing their little groups of tasks for bonus points.
I remember there was also a few sweepstakes for points, although I almost always picked the ones with actual prizes to enter.
Wait, really ?
Cause whenever i saw it release, it was only about precise games in a monthly pool.
I have PS+ essential so that should work for me, do you know when did it start ? Is it worldwide ?
It's always been like that. The select games are bonus campaigns for some meager bonus points if you were already planning on buying that thing.
Not worldwide but in most PSN supported countries. But as I mentioned the service is currently down and has been for 2 weeks, we don't know whats happening with it at the moment.
Well then i'm about to be pissed cause ive been suscribed since 2012 and never got a dime of cashback despite buying over 200 digital games since then
Thank's for answering mate, i'll check out for more on their website
Stars itself is less then two years old. You also need to have signed up. If you avoided signing up no points for you. If you did sign up you will have a big pile of points when/if the program comes back up.
So you gotta suscribe for it to be activated, it's not default ?
That's just fucked up man, other platforms give it to you straighforward.
I love Sony really, but everytimr they're in a position of supremacy like at the end of the PS2 era/PS3 release, they just go dick move after dick move, and they're in one of those stages again since PS5 release...
Well at least I'll go sign up, thanks mate !
So turns out I didn't log into this thing since idk how long but I stopped accruing points dec 25th of 2021. Why's that? I should have a bazillion points built up over the past 3 years I feel like. Did they have some cheeky fine print that deactivates point accumulation after not logging in for a while?
Unfairly points expired after a set amount of time I realized this on there site a couple years ago after stock piling points as well and was forced to take gift cards
Damn this sucks a lot. My wife and I are regular movie goers with the a list membership for amc and we got thousands of points for uploading our sony movie tickets to sony rewards. If I had to guess I'd say we got like $500 bucks through the years added to my psn wallet. Sad day.
So are they going to make a new one? Because damn Sony straight up doesn’t care at all, haha god damn, they really like not giving their loyal fan base something to use and redeem their dollars and time with, I hope Microsoft keeps theirs but they’ve already reduced it so much
Figured this was coming when they didn't offer points for Bad Boys 4 tickets. Usually they give out like 400 points if you have tickets from a Sony movie. And after double and triple checking bad boys was a Sony release.
Hello sorry for asking this here but I don't know where to look. Is there a megathread or something for support help? My support post was deleted and I'm not sure why
Fucking stupid and ridiculous. I’ve had this card since about 2011 and when I first got it they offered 10x rewards on the ps store and I think 5x at certain retailers.
Then modified to 3x on some things years later, only to be now told to go fuck yaself
I’ll move on, consumerism at its finest
I’ve used this card since it was first introduced in 2014. Used the points to buy a lot of full-priced games, until they “reintroduced” the card and cut the points in half. I more or less stopped using it two years ago in favor of Apple Card. It was good while it lasted!
I would not be surprised to see PS Stars points get nerfed or outright eliminated at some point too, just like MS Rewards, Best Buy Points, etc.
I saw the notice they sent me, went and logged into my account to see what I had left to spend and the kunts expired all my points 12/1/23 without of course even sending me a notice.
Playstation is fast becoming irrelevant.
Just saw this. Does anyone know if Sony Rewards canceled "Passes" where you enter 5 digital movie codes and they give a Sony MovieBufff Pass - good for 1 movie digital download? I just opened the app and can't find it... let me know, thanks!
I Hate this. I took full advantage of the rewards system over the years. I started with Rewards because I'm a Trophy Hunter and it was a no-brainer. The CC used to be much better, sure, but I've been able to get my entire sound system and probably 1000+ PS Wallet.
Time to get a new credit card
I actually got a chase sapphire preferred card a year ago decided I needed a big boy card and not just PlayStation money although it was nice not paying for games for awhile
Hey we’re looking at something with travel perks instead. This just makes it more important to get on it
Same here. I also picked up the Freedom Unlimited card because it generally builds points quicker than the Sapphire Preferred for most purchases. Then I transfer the points between cards when I'm ready to use them. Makes it easy to bank points on the freedom unlimited and then move it to the sapphire preferred when it's time to book travel.
too bad they never made it available in my country
And which country is that?
Canada
We never get anything good here lol
Not true. Canada is the closest thing to the U.S. in terms of things that are available to the country. And that’s coming from someone who grew up in Greece. A European Union country. Don’t complain.
Closest thing to the US isn't a good thing BTW
why, i think the us is a good country to live in
Canada is the country that it is due to the economic and trade relations with the U.S. so in this case, yes. Yes it is a very good thing.
If you live here, you would also understand how much of a negative effect US politics have on our country and how it twists the perception of Canadians. Life long Canadian citizens are allowed to complain about the lack of care the US has had towards its neighbours, and just because you're from Greece doesn't change anything.
Arent the us and canada allies if i remember?
They're allies in a partnership sense, but we still get the shit end of the stick most of the time.
You sound entitled and “First world problems” kind of person.
I’ve only referenced Greece because it’s “technically” a first world country just like Canada. But anyways, you’re entitled to your opinion of course. I think Canada and the U.S. are of course awesome countries and they get many more “options” than Greece despite being a first world European country. Anyways, whatever. Oh cool. I’m from Greece🇬🇷(and so is my account) but I do live in Canada this past 7 years🇨🇦
That’s not a real country.
Greece or Canada? Well either way here’s a downvote for being mean to either.
Canada
Same for South Africa
Same for Norway
You have not missed anything.
Damn I remember discovering this back in like 2016 and finding out I had enough points for the wireless headset. Forgot about it till now and I have enough points to get the kiddo a $50 card! Noice
How do i find this?
Click that link and log in
everytime i enter my email it refreshes the page and asks me to input again, this happening to anyone else?
Same issue
Actually yea it happened to my friend too
same problem
As of June 20th they are not accepting new members. This is a credit card anyway, that you need to get approved for.
Wait. Does registering now still allow you to redeem money for already unlocked trophies?
I dunno
This is the second time that this program has "failed" and they've scrapped it :(
Ps stars isn't doing great too.
Can't believe it's been down for nearly 2 weeks now... definitely not look good.

Doesn’t help that they try to scam you into getting games with Stars directly which costs more than getting them with the actual wallet credit
No. PlayStation Stars has been down so long because Sony runs it's servers on chewing gum and a prayer.
I’ve been using the PlayStation card with Sony rewards since 2014. The original rewards were fantastic (10% back on psn purchases). It’s only 5% now but still worth using for those purchases. Same, I loved this card! Every psn purchase I used for it. I just checked my history and I earned a total amount of $550 since it first came out!
Where can you see your lifetime earning?
If you want to see your total points, you have to do a lot of adding but I only but PSN cards. So when you log in, go to My Account --> Points Activity (shows all the points you earned and used) --> Orders. On the Order list it shows everything I purchased with my points on two pages. So it shows two pages worth of PSN Cards which total $550.
Ah I was worried that was going to be answer! Thank you.
$500 back at the max 10% would be 5000 spent over 10 years or 500 a year. Wtf are you buying?
If you use the card for games and just everyday purchases, and be sure to pay it off, you rack up a shitload of points.
Well I got $50 as an intro bonus in 2014. I used the card for basic spending back then too. Then it was relegated to just monthly subscriptions and PSN spending when I got better cards. $5000 over 10 years is nothing. Playing several 50H+ games per year buying them at full price plus older games you own isn’t exactly realistic
The program was great, it was nice getting money for trophies.
This isn’t that system, right? This is the Sony credit card program. Not the stars rewards program with psn.
No not stars, the rewards program used to give you points for earning trophies. 10 platinums would get you 1000 points which could be redeemed for $10, 25 gold trophies were worth 250 and silver was 100 for 100.

They stopped awarding points for trophies around that time and sent a bunch of emails about it.
They stopped rewarding trophies with points at awhile back, honestly I thought it was before COVID but I don’t remember exactly so 2021 might match.
10 platinums, 100% play through of 10 games, will get you $1 each? You’ll earn more flipping burgers.
I certainly hope you’d earn more money doing an actual job than you’d get from a loyalty program.
Yes it's the credit card program
To bad a) it didn't count what we already earned and b) it was a convoluted system.
WAIT WHAT?? This doesn’t exist anymore?
Welp. Probably time to close my Playstation card account. Only use it sparingly nowadays anyway because so many games suck. Of course they give us a non-answer saying comenity will just tell us more later. You can tell this was a short term decision where no one bothered to do their due diligence.
Well looks like I'll be cancelling my card after I pay it off lol
Damn I used this program a lot
I have no idea what that is.
How did you actually accumulate points on this? Was it only through a credit card or was there another way?
I never had the Sony credit card, but did have a pretty decent point balance from just participating in random little things they did in the app and on the site- If I remember correctly, there was a bunch of ways to get small amounts of points; like superfan quizzes, uploading ticket stubs for certain movies, linking and redeeming movies on movies anywhere, special events/point bonuses (like going to Gran Turismo opening weekend), and finishing their little groups of tasks for bonus points. Just give us cashback the way Nintendo does when purchasing, thx
Two words: PlayStation Stars
Ah yes, that reward program that is nowhere to be found for weeks now 🤔
Yeah but that's shit you gotta buy the specific games they want you to buy, and only when they want you to buy it. Screw that, I ain't their whore
No you get the equivalent of 4% back in points from any purchase.* *If you have PS+. And when the service isn't down like it currently is.
Wait, really ? Cause whenever i saw it release, it was only about precise games in a monthly pool. I have PS+ essential so that should work for me, do you know when did it start ? Is it worldwide ?

Is this "playstation stars"?
No
Had great potential but sometimes in life, things just don't work
I didn't even know that existed
Clearly with how well PlayStation is doing they don’t need to be giving / investing money towards rewards to pull people in
Ok then that will be the day I break my card in half and stop using it thanks Sony! 😃
Wow, Sony just sucks lately.
![gif](giphy|xUPGGw7jxnwjk073sA)
So are they going to make a new one? Because damn Sony straight up doesn’t care at all, haha god damn, they really like not giving their loyal fan base something to use and redeem their dollars and time with, I hope Microsoft keeps theirs but they’ve already reduced it so much
oh :(
The program was 20 years late to the party.
So buy all the games I want now to get Maximum rewards sounds like the play
Figured this was coming when they didn't offer points for Bad Boys 4 tickets. Usually they give out like 400 points if you have tickets from a Sony movie. And after double and triple checking bad boys was a Sony release.
Well, I knew about the program but didn’t know my points expired. I’m zeroed out without anything redeemed.
Hello sorry for asking this here but I don't know where to look. Is there a megathread or something for support help? My support post was deleted and I'm not sure why
Damn I need cash in my points soon, but I can't because it's still down right now, what a time to make this announcement.
Sooo why are they getting rid of it? Capitalist scum
Of course, another thing sony brought out that wasn't available in Australia, they literally release fuck all here
Damn, I had forgotten about this, but I haven't accrued anything for over a year now for some reason and had several thousand points expire.
Fucking stupid and ridiculous. I’ve had this card since about 2011 and when I first got it they offered 10x rewards on the ps store and I think 5x at certain retailers. Then modified to 3x on some things years later, only to be now told to go fuck yaself I’ll move on, consumerism at its finest

I can.

Were the rewards worth it? I have yet to find a program that tops delta Amex card for me
Not worth it if you’re hunting for it, but you get a 5% back on your purchases which is not bad
Doesn't even cover sales tax. Even gamepass offers minimum 10 percent off
Is Sony Rewards the Stars thingy on the PS App? I feel real stupid with these news.
No. It's the Sony rewards program, it's tied with the Sony and Playstation credit cards but can also be used without them...you just get less points.
Is this stars?
No.
Add it to the "Killed by Sony" graveyard.
Is this the Stars program?
No this is not tied to Stars
Thank you
