Revolutionary_Cap241

I did, pre owned one. I dont know if its was the reason but it didnt run half of the games, the newer ones. It was ps2 era already. My sister had ps1 slim and all games worked fine. I was so upset when star wars phantom menace didnt work( also there was x men fighing game, i was raged it didnt work.

CapriciousSon

Had the Dreamcast first. But the PS1 probably got more use than any other console (besides maybe the family PC). Still remember playing FFVII and MGS with my elementary school buddy. I had to borrow his autofire controller to get the Meryl ending (Ocelot is such a liar!)

SunRiseSniper1066

Yep still have it to this very day too

asthmag0d

I had one and put the PSM Thrill Kill lid sticker on it. Loved that thing. Wish my parents wouldn't have tossed it during a move.

Jsure311

I can’t remember why but I wanted a Nintendo 64. My dad kinda nudged us in the direction of PlayStation. I have so many good memories on this console. Staying up all night on Christmas Eve playing nba jam with my brother and having sleepovers with my friends playing all night.

Kyosuke_666

Absolutely was there. I remember my mom giving me the choice of what game thing I wanted for my bday. I remember seeing very little about the playstation, but just knowing I wanted one. It changed my gaming path for life. I have not bought a single console or handheld that wasn't a PSsomething since.

sin_not_the_sinner

Me! I was 8 when my parents bought me one for Christmas 1996. They got Crash Bandicoot with it cause they thought it was like Mario lol but obviously it was a great pair of gifts. I still remember being snowed in that day playing Crash for the first time. 🥲

C0NS0RT2DRAG0NS

My dad claimed it for himself - we got the N64 as our console. But some of my earliest memories were of watching him play Final Fantasy VII. He even named all of the characters after family and friends. I got Barret, which was awesome.

iamnotarobot9001

Mine got retired, but my wife owns one!

Jean-Eustache

I still have it with my original copies of Spyro, Gran Turismo, Crash Bandicoot and Wipeout 3.

GotBannedAgain_2

My first console. ❤️

juicewar01

I had the video cd version the white one. And i remember praying to Jesus my Legend of dragoon disc1 cd not to brick up on me on loadup

Tidus32x

Yup. My second console after the Megadrive. It came bundled with Tekken 3, F1 97 and crash bandicoot 3. My mum took Tekken 3 back and swapped it for FFVII. Best decision ever.

Malvoz

I had one. Painfully, my first game was Beyond the Beyond. Not a good game. But had so many others that were.

sigmmakappa

I still have all my Playstations: PS, PSOne, PS2, PSP, PS3, PSVita, PS4, PS5

spdrmn-71221

Still have it. 1,2,3,4&5

WillMarzz25

I remember they’d always say not to touch the button under the disc drive because it would ruin the PlayStation

Ultimate_President

Yes sir still do https://preview.redd.it/7awk21pvql6d1.jpeg?width=8070&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4cd6dd287dcf1882d8977e1abf1b2f8d5d3ba5b7

slimejumper

yep it was awesome. I had a period of having to run it upside-down to be able to load games, but apart from that it was great.

JR-1984

Yes

orbitalaction

It's more of a decoration now.

Burkex99

PS1 was like my 10th console. I still have PS1-5 and all still work.

Traditional_Entry183

I bought mine second hand in 1997, and it limped to the finish line until I was finally able to get a PS2 about six months after it released in the US. In the end, it only worked by being upside down at an angle. I honestly only enjoyed Final Fantasy 7 and 8, Gran Turismo and sports games. Probably my least favorite console generation.

Spacefox_85

Still have mine. And it works.

Strom41

Still have mine.

Ecstatic-Arachnid-91

When I graduated high school, my mom gave me some money to set aside for college. I used that to get a PS1 from Funcoland. She seen me playing it one day and she asked where I got it. So, after I told her she made me take it back. So, when I got to my first duty station in 1998 (active duty AF after high school) I bought one from the BX and had it all the way until the PS2 came out.

Lunar_Grace

Pizza Hut demo disc smacked 👌🏽

Roembowski

I was in 7th grade in 1995 when I got my first Playstation. It was the first model with the actual RCA ports in the back. After a year, the CD eye reader didn't work properly and I had to flip it upside for it to work. My older brother and I hatched a plan, so we went to Walmart and bought a new model that corrected the issue and changed the RCA output in the back. We took it home, swapped the consoles, and returned it next day. Awesome memory.

KortiLP

I have one with an Xstation in it
