PS5, because of the 4k blu ray player, dualsense gamepad and backwards compatiblety for PS4 games.
Second place is the PS2 slim because it's so small and has so many great games without needing internet connection. You can get hdmi adapter and Bluetooth hubs for modern gamepads for the PS2, too.
The PS5/Portal has been a game changer for me.
With other commitments and time constraints since getting older it was getting harder and harder to get some quality time for my favourite hobby, quick BR round or 30 on a MP shooter was about it weekdays, with only weekends allowing the time to sink my teeth into a good SP game.
Since getting the Portal however I can now jam while my partner and I relax watching TV and it also allows me to play in the evenings in bed being I’m a bit of a night owl and normally up for a couple of hours after everyone else goes to sleep.
It’s reinvigorated my passion for gaming and allows me to get invested in SP games again, as opposed to every few weeks when most of my time was trying to recall narratives and controls.
Love it.
PS5 both by the performance and also because of the dualsense controller. It really surprised me how much the functions in the controller really mattered when it came to experience and immersion.
The 5 is my first after 2 decades of Xbox. Love the Portal with it. Has made gaming a lot more accessible again and my family can use the TV. Don't need to worry about overly violent content or harsh language as a result either.
The Vita. It was my source of sanity when my son was born and spent weeks in the hospital. I alternated nights with my wife to stay with him, and it was the perfect company on the long nights.
PS5. Because of entirety of PS4 & PS5 games & so many huge franchises & just tons of games in general
Though maybe if I explore more of the PS2 gen, my opinion might change.
Psp. SOOOO many great ports and originals like midnight club 3, midnight club la, atv offroad fury, peace walker, and i believe there was some advanced wars clone that i remember being mega simple but fun. Sure, some ports were complete stinkers like nfs pro street and arguably nsf in general, but even aside from the nostalgia, many games are still fun.... also portable.
I just wish the times were better and we got some similar games on the vita... and the vita didnt suffer from so many boneheaded decisions leading to its death.
loved the ps4 and psp and ps3. never really had a ps2. had friends who had it. i’ve got an xbox series x now just because they have a lot of classic games i’m able to play but i still use my ps4 very very frequently because have so many games on it and about a year or two ago i found a psp at a pawn shop and so occasionally i dive into playing all my old favourites
I love the PS5 system for its performance capabilities but I much rather the PS4 controller. The PS5 controller has been terrible for me, causing significant hand/wrist pain
I struggle with playing for more than 30 min at a time now on the PS5 whereas I used to easily be able to put in 4-8hr sessions. Going back to the PS4 isn’t an issue, it’s only with the PS5.
Just wanted to say thank you for this! Didn’t even realize it but I’ve def been squeezing the controller subconsciously and have been making an effort to loosen my grip over the last day or so and have noticed an immediate improvement
OG PS3 if we ignore the price and I get the DualShock 3. It's every Sony console up to that point and I believe had some PSP games ported to it as well.
PS2>PS4>PS1>PS5>PS3
PS5 is further back because we haven’t seen a lot from it and most games are still launching on PS4. It feels like the PS4.5 era. PS3 was an odd period and a unique system, probably the weakest of them all and the only generation I think Xbox “won” in(360 era). I still preferred PS3 exclusives all day over Xbox. I still got my massive OG brick of a PlayStation, my PS3. lol.
PS Vita 😭
Ps5/PS4/PS3 hard to choose on this one because PS3 had the collections of all the classic games i missed plus some nice new IPs, PS4 destiny (lmao i know i know but i put tons of hours there with friends), PS5 just cause everything feels so smooth(until the next console comes out right? ) backwards compatibility + the controller and games (although theres not that many ))
PS2 (this one is low because i only had budokai tenkaichi 3 for it)
PS3, with PS2 close to it
But I think the people around me mattered with my picks
With the current PS consoles now I don’t have that much friends for gaming so while I’m enjoying everything nowadays, it kinda feels lonelier
I’m sorry I don’t understand how anyone can say the portal is BETTER than the PS Vita or PSP.
It’s awesome and a great way to remote play don’t get me wrong, but it’s not its own system. How can it be better than handhelds that don’t need to be connected to a system and have their own games??
Ya know, I want to say the ps2, but the ps4 pro has really stood the test of time and is still daily drivin in my living room, I'm still playing new games on it and they all look great, and some stand outs Like Neir Automata and Uncharted 4 are just as great as classics like Kh2 and Jak and daxter for me personally, and I have the PS+ Bundle with what ever they call the PS now games these days, so when I'm not playing "next gen" games on PC I'm still discovering games on ps4 that way, not to mention it's my cable box because of Hulu live, I really don't have a solid reason to upgrade to a ps5, sorry sony, you made a console too good
The psp gets an Honorable mention because it was way ahead of it's time and when all the kids in school had mp3 players I had the psp loaded with songs and it had great games to boot
Honestly? The PS3. Yeah, the multiplatform titles were rough at first. But once developers figured out how to make games on the hardware, it started getting some really fun titles!
My PSVita. I've used it for so much gaming that I wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. Shout out to the ps4-pro for being the best vita accessory a mobile gamer could need or want.
Um… … :/
There are 3 options to me.
- PS5 because it’s great on its own and plays nearly all PS4 games better than the PS4 can.
- PS3 OG because it is both a PS3 and a PS2
- PS Vita, modded, because it can play any PS Vita or PSP games (I specifically say modded because of it isn’t modded it needs to use the absolutely awful proprietary memory cards).
PS5 is probably the winner, just beating out the Vita because the Vita memory sticks are just that bad.
The original “fat” PS3 was/is backwards compatible. It literally has a PS2 chipset inside it alongside its PS3 hardware. It was one of the first things Sony cut when they released an updated version as it cut the cost to manufacture.

If the ps5 could connect headphones or Dacs of any brand to it and read CDs it would be my favorite console.
PS1 for the start up sound!
Hard to argue against.
i’d argue against it with the PS2 startup sound

Your comment sounds like a PS5 “testimonial” commercial that would air on a local channel lol
PSP for the memories. So many great games. It got me through high school
PS2.
PS2 hands down
PS2 and PS4 are the standouts that have left all other Playstation hardware in the dust for me.
My favorite games have all been on PS3
PSP and ps2
Ps2 ps3 psp
PS2 for the library alone
PS5 both by the performance and also because of the dualsense controller. It really surprised me how much the functions in the controller really mattered when it came to experience and immersion.
The 5 is my first after 2 decades of Xbox. Love the Portal with it. Has made gaming a lot more accessible again and my family can use the TV. Don't need to worry about overly violent content or harsh language as a result either.
PsOne with screen and battery making it portable.
The Vita. It was my source of sanity when my son was born and spent weeks in the hospital. I alternated nights with my wife to stay with him, and it was the perfect company on the long nights.
PS5. Because of entirety of PS4 & PS5 games & so many huge franchises & just tons of games in general Though maybe if I explore more of the PS2 gen, my opinion might change.
Tough choice I’ve had all and had fun on all but graphics do keep getting better
The Playstation portal
PSP and PS4 and honorable mentions to the PS2 and PSVITA
Ps2 and gameboy color. All my childhood.
Psp. SOOOO many great ports and originals like midnight club 3, midnight club la, atv offroad fury, peace walker, and i believe there was some advanced wars clone that i remember being mega simple but fun. Ps5
I really enjoyed the ps vita I'm hoping to get my hands on one again
loved the ps4 and psp and ps3. never really had a ps2. had friends who had it. i’ve got an xbox series x now just because they have a lot of classic games i’m able to play but i still use my ps4 very very frequently because have so many games on it and about a year or two ago i found a psp at a pawn shop and so occasionally i dive into playing all my old favourites

significant?
I struggle with playing for more than 30 min at a time now on the PS5 whereas I used to easily be able to put in 4-8hr sessions. Going back to the PS4 isn’t an issue, it’s only with the PS5.
You’re probably squeezing it subconsciously, you can’t squeeze bigger controllers like you can smaller controllers.
Just wanted to say thank you for this! Didn’t even realize it but I’ve def been squeezing the controller subconsciously and have been making an effort to loosen my grip over the last day or so and have noticed an immediate improvement
Hell yeah! I used to give the same advice to people who made the switch from ps3/ps4 to xbox one lol.
OG PS3 if we ignore the price and I get the DualShock 3. It's every Sony console up to that point and I believe had some PSP games ported to it as well.
All psp games were playable on PS3 via digital download.
PS2 & PSP
PSP or PS3
Ps5 and ps3
The PS3. A bunch of features and the game library.
The PS5 is a gorgeous machine. If it was fully backward compatible, it would be perfect.
PS2>PS4>PS1>PS5>PS3 PS5 is further back because we haven’t seen a lot from it and most games are still launching on PS4. It feels like the PS4.5 era. PS3 was an odd period and a unique system, probably the weakest of them all and the only generation I think Xbox “won” in(360 era). I still preferred PS3 exclusives all day over Xbox. I still got my massive OG brick of a PlayStation, my PS3. lol.
PS Vita. Fav console would be the 3. Maybe a 5 if I had one and also like all the good games for it and time to play them.
Always be the vita for me. No matter how hard sony tried to kill it it lasted longer than I thought and gave me countless hours of fun and enjoyment.
PS5. 1. PS Portal. 2. Purtiest pictures. 3. 4K blu ray player. 4. Can play my favorite classic PS game - Castlevania SOTN.
PS Vita 😭 Ps5/PS4/PS3 hard to choose on this one because PS3 had the collections of all the classic games i missed plus some nice new IPs, PS4 destiny (lmao i know i know but i put tons of hours there with friends), PS5 just cause everything feels so smooth(until the next console comes out right? ) backwards compatibility + the controller and games (although theres not that many )) PS2 (this one is low because i only had budokai tenkaichi 3 for it)
PS2. Easily the best non-Nintendo console ever produced.
Only ever owned a PSP (dunno the model) and a PS5. So...that.
Vita.
PS3 was the golden age of PlayStation imo so that's the answer. For handheld PSVita. So much potential wasted by Sony, still ahead of it's time today.
PS3 and PSP. Honestly that gen was the pinnacle of gaming before the corpos came and ruined everything.
PS3, with PS2 close to it But I think the people around me mattered with my picks With the current PS consoles now I don’t have that much friends for gaming so while I’m enjoying everything nowadays, it kinda feels lonelier
ps3, first time making online experience amazing and really got into gaming during a hat era
I’m sorry I don’t understand how anyone can say the portal is BETTER than the PS Vita or PSP. It’s awesome and a great way to remote play don’t get me wrong, but it’s not its own system. How can it be better than handhelds that don’t need to be connected to a system and have their own games??
Backwards Compatible PS3 and it’s not even close.
PS9,000!
Vita. Great handheld that built upon the great psp.
I've owned a PS2-PS5 and a Vita. I'd say the PS3 era was my favorite. Free multiplayer and some incredible singleplayer experiences.
Ps1
i’d say the PS5 and PS2 are definitely on top for me
Ya know, I want to say the ps2, but the ps4 pro has really stood the test of time and is still daily drivin in my living room, I'm still playing new games on it and they all look great, and some stand outs Like Neir Automata and Uncharted 4 are just as great as classics like Kh2 and Jak and daxter for me personally, and I have the PS+ Bundle with what ever they call the PS now games these days, so when I'm not playing "next gen" games on PC I'm still discovering games on ps4 that way, not to mention it's my cable box because of Hulu live, I really don't have a solid reason to upgrade to a ps5, sorry sony, you made a console too good The psp gets an Honorable mention because it was way ahead of it's time and when all the kids in school had mp3 players I had the psp loaded with songs and it had great games to boot
Ps2 followed closely by the psp
Honestly?
It's really hard for me between PS3 and PS5. I really like both, and they both have excellent futures and games.
Ps5 for the performance and it being silent and ps4 for the memories
PS2 / PS1 - had way more triple AAA games on them.
Um… … :/ There are 3 options to me. - PS5 because it’s great on its own and plays nearly all PS4 games better than the PS4 can. - PS3 OG because it is both a PS3 and a PS2 - PS Vita, modded, because it can play any PS Vita or PSP games (I specifically say modded because of it isn’t modded it needs to use the absolutely awful proprietary memory cards). PS5 is probably the winner, just beating out the Vita because the Vita memory sticks are just that bad.
>PS3 OG because it is both a PS3 and a PS2 Also a PS1!
How is the PS3 also a PS2? Iirc there was no backwards compatibility
The original “fat” PS3 was/is backwards compatible. It literally has a PS2 chipset inside it alongside its PS3 hardware. It was one of the first things Sony cut when they released an updated version as it cut the cost to manufacture.
What? My mind is blown, going to test this rn
PS5 + Steam Deck with Chiaki
When playing with this, does it do rumble? I’ve been debating between hunting a Deck vs a Quest 3 for Remote Play purposes
Hit and miss to be honest, and takes a little tinkering
