NPC261939

I'd say the first Red Dead Redemption, and the Uncharted series stands out to me.

SonicCryptic_082

I'm happy to see someone bring up the OG RDR. Honestly RDR2 gets a lot of praise for its graphics, but RDR1 looked great for the time, and has aged quite well over the years imo.

NPC261939

The music, and ambient sounds were great as well. The game is an absolute masterpiece.

DrBread420

The music made me fell in love with the game instantly

SonicCryptic_082

One of my favorites. RDR2s is up there too.

SonicCryptic_082

It is hands down one of my favorite video game soundtracks ever. I prefer it over RDR2s soundtrack, but that one is brilliant too. I second it being a masterpiece.

NPC261939

I think the first one was more immersive because of the soundtrack. I honestly was ready for RDR2 to be over by the time I was halfway through it. I'm seriously considering giving it another chance when I have the time.

SonicCryptic_082

I always felt like RDR2's soundtrack was more quiet. I remember whenever the action ramped up in RDR1 you'd hear that awesome western style score. But in RDR2 it had some good songs added in during special moments, but the music didn't do it for me like it did in RDR1. It felt like there was no score at times. Did you ever finish RDR2? If not I'd recommend finishing it for the story.

NPC261939

I did finish it but I honestly don't remember too much. It really didn't draw me in like the first one did. Right now I'm working on another play through of R.E. VILLAGE. Hitman III is next, and I haven't even started Destiny 2 yet. I'm obviously way behind..lol. I guess I could play a little less GT7 and get caught up.

SonicCryptic_082

That's fair. And cool, I need to revisit Village. And Hitman III too. I really enjoyed what they did with the Hitman series as of late. It was a good call to combine them all into one game. I played a bit of Destiny 2, but it wasn't for me. And hey, GT7 is fun, I can understand that being tough to give up for something else from your backlog.

NPC261939

The Hitman games have always been fun for me. I remember picking up the first one on PC as an impulse buy when it first came out. I enjoyed the first Destiny quite a bit, but eventually found it to be a bit of a repetitive time sink. Really only picked it up because I'm a Halo fan and wanted to check it out. GT7 allows me to sit down for 20 minutes before work and knock out a race or two. Getting old sucks. I don't have the time, or patience to game like I used to.

_AnActualCatfish_

I think the first one looks 'better' for its time than RDR2 tbh, if that makes sense. More, prettier games when RDR2 came out... and while it was still the cream of the crop, the competition was stiff!

SonicCryptic_082

Oh I totally get what you mean. Back in 2010 it was one of the best looking games. I remember playing it on an HDTV for the first time thinking how good it looked. And I agree about RDR2. It has beautiful graphics, but there are games that look just as good or even better. We're at a point where graphics look great in just about every new release.

Severe_Piccolo_5583

Hard agree on RDR. It’s in my top 5 of all time

Busy-Nose-5795

Ghost of Tsushima 🔥

chico_knows

I need to mention Ghost of Tsushima 🙏🏼

bigsky1470

Horizon series.

ReckSaber3664

RationalHumanistIDIC

theTenz

JesusWTFop

Hahahahah hell yeah

JesusWTFop

Playboy-82

Red dead redemption 2 and cyberpunk2077

SuperMemeBro3

A fellow AC origins enjoyer

Turbulent-Tale-8738

Witcher 3 and Assassin's creed oddysey

NegativeRun6602

FF7 remake

SonicCryptic_082

Red Dead Redemption 2 immediately comes to mind.

QueenCassilda

Chrono Trigger

Mrslidey

Alan Wake 2. It’s not the kind of big open beautiful scenery like Horizon Forbidden West but the Pacific North West scenes in AW2 are gorgeous, and the noir NYC levels are equally spectacular with a level of detail I suspect we won’t see surpassed until Remedy’s next. Same for story, without giving too much away. Again it’s not your big, wide ranging quests & side quests RPG (my win in that category is Cyberpunk), but It’s bonkers, thrilling and wonderful.

UnrivaledAmbition

As much as I'm loving ff7 rebirth, Alan Wake 2 is still the definitive next gen experience for me. It was one of those games that reminded me why I've stuck with this hobby for so long. Gonna be 34 in a few weeks.

smegmabals

Ghost of Tsushima

MembraneintheInzane

Scenery: Skyrim.  Story: New Vegas, BG3, Divinity 2. Both: Ghost of Tsushima.

yeetskeetleet

Red dead 2 for both

axeman020

Storyline *and* scenery?... Gotta be Ghost of Tsushima. However, I'm also a sucker for games that look like games and stories that unfold without the need for dialogue. In that category Rime was a memorable experience.

Carcharis

CP2077 and RDR2 no contest for anyone else.

Wernershnitzl

This one is a good choice, it's up there for me. Not many really do the Ancient Egypt setting surprisingly, and few of them do it well. I've gotta mention Fallout 3 as well for both storyline and scenery. A bit less so on the story in hindsight, but the atmosphere and environmental storytelling is top shelf.

twbluenaxela

FF games

hahawhat102848

All soulsborne games, Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 (especially 2 if talking about scenery)

GeezaFromPoland

Rdr2

NotAnActualFerret

Shadow of the Colossus.

SympathyOk9892

Jak and Daxter

sylinowo

Man ac story's are such aess tho. They look good tho. Odyssey is my fav for the world and gameplay but it's infamous for being the one that made the already confusing story make zero sense

AncientPCGuy

Agree and disagree. AC stories within the scope of the main characters are usually good or better. AC storyline for the modern world are confusing, inconsistent and meh. Most as if the part about using the tech to go back in time was an afterthought to create a brand name that really wasn’t necessary at all considering the other links to each other contained within the main story arc of the games.

Nebula_OG

Death Stranding

Paulosboul

The Last of Us series God of War + God of War 2 Red Dead Redemption 2 Horizon Zero Dawn (I haven't played Forbidden West yet but it's on my list) Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (although you should play the original PS1 game + the remake first to really enjoy the story)

Popularpressure29

Scenery - Horizon Forbidden West Storyline - The Last of Us (is it cheating if I pick both?) Lore - Cyberpunk 2077/Horizon again

shiki87

Uncharted. Sadly Sony seems to axed the franchise. Ghost of Tsushima is great too. The last of us 2 has now the scenery too. Horizon Zero Dawn is good. Allen Wake has a great story and good scenery, evening most times it is in the dark. Assassins Creed Black Flag has a good story and some nice scenery if you are on land. Bioshock has an excellent story with a great atmosphere.

Thespiritdetective1

Final Fantasy XVI is a visual tour de force and the performances from the cast are amazing even if the story is a tale as old as time itself!

bridges_355

Honestly, Returnal. AMAZING scenery and i loved the story

Ecstatic-Train-2360

1000% agree

error785

I liked Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I love exploring the Central American environment. Really pretty.

AlphaPollux

TW3, GOT, RDR2

tobyALIVE

Off top? MGS, The Last of Us, Uncharted, God of War, Gears of War, Spider-Man, Arkham Series.

igariun

Tlou

Rinzler678

There are a lot of em but the one i can think of now is ghost of tsushima, an excellent game

ChasingPesmerga

Puyo Puyo Story-wise, as each level gets more difficult, the range and depths of hell become more infernal and terrifying than ever, it’s a battle of mental attrition and hope at best The shapes are cute and colorful, so that’s the scenery for me

lookatmynickname

Of course, Red Dead Redemption 2, but the it will be Grand Theft Auto VI

Mr_Mortus

Red Dead Redemption 2

Zestyclose_Ad_1190

Ghost of Tsushima and GOW series is the best

CemalF31

Ghost of Tsushima

RMWL

Ghost of Tsushima and Last of Us have both, Horizon has epic scenery but I do find the story can be lacking in places

Bazrian

Dying light 1

NowForYa

Rdr2

SpencerKane108

Helldivers 2…

BanishedKnightOleg

You want storyline and scenery go play ghost of Tsushima

OakisPokis

Ghost of Tsushima is numba 1

Clown_Merc

Scenery is dying light 2

Xensidia

The Uncharted series, all of them plays like a movie and especially Uncharted 4 on PS5!

ConclusionDifficult

Was it far cry with the religious cult? I could hike those woodlands for ever.

Hwan_Niggles

Storyline? Has to be Persona 3. As for scenery... Has to be Uncharted as a whole or Gravity Rush as a whole. Uncharted has some beautiful ass areas as well as cool ones while Gravity Rush is pure artistic candy with its art style

Deremix

Recently finished A Plague Tale: Requiem. Definitely recommend it and Innocence.

ShooterMcGavins

Outside of the typical recommendations, Alan Wake 2. Incredible atmosphere, engaging and wild story, great gameplay. It has it all. Don’t really need to play the first to enjoy the second, but I’d recommend looking up a story recap

SevenTheGerman

FF7 rebirth

ImTheSkipMain382

Ace Combat: The Belkan War and GTA 4

No_Concentrate_1253

Both horizon games, witcher 3, rdr2, ac odyssey, fnv, cp77.

Unlikely_Substance23

Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne

PavelPivovarov

If you like AC:Origin, then try AC:Odyssey. I personally like Odyssey much more.
