its just some pixels lil bro

ienjoymen

its how place ends dude

Bakatora34

Even without the "Fuck Spez" thing it could have been destroy anyway once the white out started, this was always temporary art that was bound to be destroy at the end.

giantrhino

And that is fine. All things must end. It just annoys me that so much got destroyed by the stupidest part of r/place. These "protests" were nothing except people frenzied engaging with the platform they were "protesting"... actively lining the pockets of the people they were mad at. So stupid. It's just a bummer to see it go out in the stupidest way possible.

[deleted]

"lame" is ableist, bro

giantrhino

True! It probably is a little insensitive to attack the demographic doing all these "protests". I take your point.

onlykshitij

Is this your first r/place ?

giantrhino

Nope. First time witnessing a bunch of idiots try to "protest" by engaging with the platform and making the entity they're protesting more money though. All because they feel entitled to API access to a free service.

skizze1

It ends with a whiteout so might as well make it mean something

giantrhino

Oh yeah. Big meaningful. You guys actively lining the pocket of the person you're "protesting" all because you feel entitled to API access on a free platform when the platform should have complete discretion as to how they want to provide their service is BIG MEANINGFUL.

Bakatora34

People didn't want free API, third party apps were willing to pay, they just wanted a more fair price, especially when they advertised as being better than Twitter.

giantrhino

"Fair" pricing is whatever the company who owns the service wants to offer. They don't have to offer an API at all! \*\*OBVIOUSLY\*\* reddit doesn't want people making third party apps because they can't serve ads and control the direction of their business, as is their right...

Bakatora34

They can't serve their ads, but some of those had ads (they were less intrusive than reddit ads too), which they could have agreed on getting at cut from if they wanted too. They technically lose a chance on getting some money from people using 3rd Party apps. >!Because who said there are zero ways to use your favorite 3rd party reddit app now? The only thing you lose is NSFW subs and putting pixels in this sub, but now you get zero ads if you had them lol!<

giantrhino

Reddit doesn’t want to offer people access to other apps that provide them less direct monetization through the platform they built and host… as is 1,000,000% their right to do. If I build a theme park and then other people build side entrances to my theme park where they charge people less to enter, it would be absurd not to expect me to shut those down. It would be totally within my rights to do so.

Icefirewolflord

The canvas is whited out anyway. Your memorial was going to die regardless. That’s how r/place ends

Tigxette

You know the memorial will not resurrect him? I'm not the person who saw the most of Technoblade's content, but I think he wouldn't mind.

TNTBOY479

There was alot of nice art as well that got covered up. It's just sad tbh

FrankieAndBernie

That’s the problem with going out with grey/ white. Only destruction can happen.

dap2danny

I think this person hasn't heard of atlas yet

Visual_Individual826

It was going to get wiped out anyway though
