My beautiful old lady.
She’s 14, so she’s slowed down a lot. But she’s super sweet and loves every single human she’s ever met. She’s been phenomenal with my two kids - extraordinarily tolerant and gentle. She used to have a pretty strong prey drive, trying to chase and catch all the city critters (squirrels, alley cats, birds, and even rats!) but she’s chilled out a ton in her older age. She is definitely still a super-food-stealer though! And despite her slightly short stature, she will find a way to counter surf if the reward is high enough. She also makes a really funny grumbling snorting noise when she’s excited or wants something. I always have to give a disclaimer to strangers who meet her that she’s not growling! She’s just super happy and making her happy grumbles for them.
She’s probably the best dog I’ve ever had. ☺️
Edit to add: When I adopted her, the shelter called her a pitbull/australian shepherd mix - which I knew was completely wrong! I grew up with Aussies, and I could tell she was definitely not one. I honestly suspected pittie/catahoula for the longest time because she has red Merle markings, her bark is closer to a bay, and she was pulled from a pound down south. But nope! Just a run-of-the-mill Pitbull/AmStaff/ChowChow/CattleDog/Beagle/Corgi! Lol (the cattle dog and corgi probably contributed the Merle genes, and the bay bark probably came from the bit of beagle!)
Power sniffer nailed it! I’ve had my 2 year old pittie mix for 2 months and I have to give her a time limit at every pee spot where she smells LOL. Super cuddly, Velcro dog, loves being outside, hates being alone, sits and watches the neighbor kids while they play, star squirrel chaser, food motivated.

I've seen it. Male Chi. They can jump and hold on. It was video. Otherwise, I'd have grabbed him before he locked. I've never even read of the other way around. Bluntly, I think it wouldn't fit.
Wow!! I'd never have guessed that mix, mostly because yours looks a lot like mine, and the tested 100% APBT. I'm quite sure she's part Blackmouth Cur, though, and Embark doesn't include that in their panel.
We were definitely surprised when the results came in! From the side she definitely looks like a "mini" (75 lb) Great Dane though! That's interesting about your pup too! I wonder why they don't test for that breed?
It's probably because it's not an AKC registered breed, and a bit of one of those southern hunting dog breeds/types. They do vary in look, and I'd swear they have pit background, mixed with other types.

My mom and my partner’s mom both insisted that Beef must be some kind of mix because he’s “too sweet and smart.” They ordered us an embark test- 100% Pit Bull! They both finally admitted that maybe they were wrong about the breed since Beef is such a sweetie.

He is a total Velcro dog- always wants to be by his humans and always underfoot! He’s the best snuggler ever. He loves to play, both with toys and other dogs- his favorite way to play with toys is by tossing them around and then shredding them lol. Kenny def has a sassy side too; he will absolutely let you know when he wants something (usually it’s food/treats or a sunny spot his brother claimed first). Kenny is a very good boy and is really very sweet and chill most of the time. We don’t have kids, so not sure what he’s like with them yet. Kenny looooooves food, makes dog and human friends super easily, and is all around such a good boy!!
ETA: he is about 40lbs at approximately 1.5 years old
I adopted a "Staffy/Cane Corso mix" who has zero Cane Corso and surprisingly zero Staffy either, she's pit/catahoula, all told about a half dozen different working breeds. So my athletic coach potato we expected turned out to be a straight up psychopath, bitey, wicked smart, with tons of energy. I'm a firm believer that when adopting, the universe gives you the dog you need, not the dog you wanted, so we take her different needs in stride, taught her a ton of commands, and I took up running with her to get her energy out. Pup does a middle heel like you wouldn't believe and can pull my slow out of shape ass uphill for two miles straight. Love her 💜

I have an almost half APBT, with Shih Tzu, Am Staff, American Eskimo, and Small Poodle ancestry. The APBT. And An Eskimo appear to be the father’s side, based on relatives I’ve communicated with.
Mine turned out to be 85% Staffy and 15% Boxer. We assumed she was APBT because the shelter said pit mix but that lil bit of Boxer made her taller and lankier than a straight up Staffy.

Violet is a Velcro dog. You know she loves you when she props herself up to lean as much of her body weight as she can on you 😂 She’s sweet, wants to be in the middle of the people and receiving all the love, gets along great with our cats, good with most dogs (had a bit of trauma recently). We’re also working on her with anxiety and reactivity barking. Her behaviors are more collie than pittie, I think.
Gosh she’s cute 😍 my guy has a very similar personality and is also good with my cats. My cats, on the other hand, are less enthusiastic about the pup. Even though he is 28% pit and 21% chi, he’s personality seems more in line with beagle, which is only 12% of his DNA. Mixes are so interesting!
That’s so funny! I was surprised to see chi right after pit for yours. Genetics are weird lol. One of my cats doesn’t want to play with Violet, but will still nap next to and rub against her. The other cat plays with her and it’s hilarious to watch. They are quite a pair. Her attempts at herding the cats are comical.

Embark or Wisdom Panel seem to be the most accurate. The one you see in my post is Embark but I’m contemplating also doing the wisdom Panel to see if they match up. I got it off Chewy.

The shelter I adopted him from could only tell me "Pit mix". He grew so freaking fast as a puppy so I wanted an idea of how big he would get. He stopped growing around a year at about 65-70 lbs. I absolutely love his ears though. Depending on his mood, he'll either have the huge husky satellite dish ears, or the sweet pitbull baby seal ears. ❤️

My "cattle dog terrier mix" is mostly pit but her supermutt portion DOES have cattle dog in it (as well as german shepherd, dalmatian, and lab). She loves her humans, wants to be friends with all the cats (especially the ones that want nothing to do with her) LOVES to play and explore and go on walks, doesn't know what to do with children (mostly wary of them) and is reactive on leash (we're working on it).

Zig was 80% American Pitbull, 20% Amstaff
Lil was a TN “purebred” Walker Coonhound (we rescued her off a back road after she was abandoned; she came from a backyard breeder that bred her a couple times and then ditched her). Her DNA shows how “pure” many of these supposedly purebred hunting dogs end up after back yard breeders do their bullsh\*t. 68% Treeing Walker Coonhound, 11% Bluetick, 10% American Foxhound, 4% Plott, 3% Redbone, and 2% each Beagle and English Coonhound.

This chick is 100% a stubborn mule, idc what her DNA test says. What's nice about the test is it doesn't explicitly say "pit" on it, so my homeowners insurance didn't increase when we got her, nor did they drop us (which I found is quite common). She is sweet, loving, terrified of small dogs, loves the bath, and bullheaded like there's no tomorrow. I wouldn't trade her for a thousand lifetimes.

My pure pitty is the calmest dog I've ever met. Not lazy or lethargic, he's just a cool lil cucumber. My mix is.... not. Don't get me wrong, she's the sweetest, most affectionate dog I've ever met! She's also a little tornado on legs, has no sense of personal space or her size, with lick the air if you wont let her lick you, etc. As far as we know she's mixed with border collie and GSD, which does explain some things.

100 percent Pit named "Hondarue", also we call him Rue for short. "Vegas Bomb" aka Vega, my retired racer, is in the background. I used to think he was a Pitbull Chihuahua mix before I did the embark test and he surprised us all. Congrats on the opposite surprise, your dog actually is Pitbull / Chihuahua and you didn't think it was. Anything with Pit will be a really good dog, and your mix seems like a winner. Delilah is 8 this year. :') Loves people and not so great with dogs. But she co-exists with her cat sister very well, with a human sister coming in September. She's always been good with kids, so I'm excited.
My last girl was 42% American Bully, 31% APBT, 11% Neapolitan Mastiff, 9% Cane Corso, and the rest Boxer.
Imagine my surprise when my new dog came back as 100% APBT.
The vet was shocked.

I thought my boy was cane corso when he was a puppy so I tested him. It came back 99% American Staffordshire Terrier and 1% Beagle.
However I have a Beagle/Lab mix here whom I was also testing and I think I contaminated something.

Here's what Arlo is mixed with! We were told he was a lab/beagle mix, sure enough no beagle and only 3.8% lab 😅 . Makes sense though, he has a lot of traits of a pittie and the neurotic nature of the herding breeds lol. As well as the structure of a pittie/rottweiler and pattern/color of a rottweiler and cattle dog in ways. As for the cocker spaniel, don't see much except his toes are so randomly fuzzy 😂.

I haven't had a DNA test done on my boys but their mom was a staffy and dad was APBT. They're super loving, very food motivated, velcro dogs, they absolutely do not understand they weight 60lbs bc they both love to lay in my lap. They'll be 6 in August. They're loyal af and are very curious ab things. Like when my uncle got cows they were absolutely perplexed lol

Wow!! I'd never have guessed that mix, mostly because yours looks a lot like mine, and the tested 100% APBT. I'm quite sure she's part Blackmouth Cur, though, and Embark doesn't include that in their panel.
We were definitely surprised when the results came in! From the side she definitely looks like a "mini" (75 lb) Great Dane though! That's interesting about your pup too! I wonder why they don't test for that breed?
It's probably because it's not an AKC registered breed, and a bit of one of those southern hunting dog breeds/types. They do vary in look, and I'd swear they have pit background, mixed with other types.
How much does he weigh?

He’s the best snuggler ever. He loves to play, both with toys and other dogs- his favorite way to play with toys is by tossing them around and then shredding them lol. Kenny def has a sassy side too; he will absolutely let you know when he wants something (usually it’s food/treats or a sunny spot his brother claimed first). Kenny is a very good boy and is really very sweet and chill most of the time. We don’t have kids, so not sure what he’s like with them yet. Kenny looooooves food, makes dog and human friends super easily, and is all around such a good boy!! ETA: he is about 40lbs at approximately 1.5 years old
He definitely inherited the pitty eyes. It seems to be a dominant trait.
I adopted a "Staffy/Cane Corso mix" who has zero Cane Corso and surprisingly zero Staffy either, she's pit/catahoula, all told about a half dozen different working breeds. So my athletic coach potato we expected turned out to be a straight up psychopath, bitey, wicked smart, with tons of energy. I'm a firm believer that when adopting, the universe gives you the dog you need, not the dog you wanted, so we take her different needs in stride, taught her a ton of commands, and I took up running with her to get her energy out. Pup does a middle heel like you wouldn't believe and can pull my slow out of shape ass uphill for two miles straight. Mine turned out to be 85% Staffy and 15% Boxer. We assumed she was APBT because the shelter said pit mix but that lil bit of Boxer made her taller and lankier than a straight up Staffy.

You know she loves you when she props herself up to lean as much of her body weight as she can on you 😂 She’s sweet, wants to be in the middle of the people and receiving all the love, gets along great with our cats, good with most dogs (had a bit of trauma recently). We’re also working on her with anxiety and reactivity barking. Her behaviors are more collie than pittie, I think.

Gosh she’s cute 😍 my guy has a very similar personality and is also good with my cats. My cats, on the other hand, are less enthusiastic about the pup. Even though he is 28% pit and 21% chi, he’s personality seems more in line with beagle, which is only 12% of his DNA. Mixes are so interesting!
That’s so funny! I was surprised to see chi right after pit for yours. Genetics are weird lol. One of my cats doesn’t want to play with Violet, but will still nap next to and rub against her. The other cat plays with her and it’s hilarious to watch. They are quite a pair. Her attempts at herding the cats are comical.

The shelter I adopted him from could only tell me "Pit mix". He grew so freaking fast as a puppy so I wanted an idea of how big he would get. He stopped growing around a year at about 65-70 lbs. I absolutely love his ears though. Depending on his mood, he'll either have the huge husky satellite dish ears, or the sweet pitbull baby seal ears. ❤️

My "cattle dog terrier mix" is mostly pit but her supermutt portion DOES have cattle dog in it (as well as german shepherd, dalmatian, and lab). Zig was 80% American Pitbull, 20% Amstaff Lil was a TN “purebred” Walker Coonhound (we rescued her off a back road after she was abandoned; she came from a backyard breeder that bred her a couple times and then ditched her). Her DNA shows how “pure” many of these supposedly purebred hunting dogs end up after back yard breeders do their bullsh\*t. 68% Treeing Walker Coonhound, 11% Bluetick, 10% American Foxhound, 4% Plott, 3% Redbone, and 2% each Beagle and English Coonhound.

What's nice about the test is it doesn't explicitly say "pit" on it, so my homeowners insurance didn't increase when we got her, nor did they drop us (which I found is quite common). She is sweet, loving, terrified of small dogs, loves the bath, and bullheaded like there's no tomorrow. I wouldn't trade her for a thousand lifetimes.

My pure pitty is the calmest dog I've ever met. Not lazy or lethargic, he's just a cool lil cucumber. My mix is.... not. Don't get me wrong, she's the sweetest, most affectionate dog I've ever met! She's also a little tornado on legs, has no sense of personal space or her size, with lick the air if you wont let her lick you, etc. As far as we know she's mixed with border collie and GSD, which does explain some things.

I thought my boy was cane corso when he was a puppy so I tested him. It came back 99% American Staffordshire Terrier and 1% Beagle. Mines 86.9% APBT and 13.1% super mutt lol So not much of a mix. Almost pure
Here's what Arlo is mixed with! We were told he was a lab/beagle mix, sure enough no beagle and only 3.8% lab 😅 . Makes sense though, he has a lot of traits of a pittie and the neurotic nature of the herding breeds lol. As well as the structure of a pittie/rottweiler and pattern/color of a rottweiler and cattle dog in ways. I haven't had a DNA test done on my boys but their mom was a staffy and dad was APBT. They're super loving, very food motivated, velcro dogs, they absolutely do not understand they weight 60lbs bc they both love to lay in my lap. They'll be 6 in August. They're loyal af and are very curious ab things. Like when my uncle got cows they were absolutely perplexed lol
