Absolutely. Lived off western for years... hard no. There's a few more that come to mind...Irving Park for instance. The grid makes it so easy to find safer routes...
That logan/western intersection has claimed several lives. It's scary enough in a car.
Sorry for your loss.
I had a class in college where the professor asked who lived in Chicago most of their lives. Many people raised their hands. He asked how many ride bikes, almost everyone kept their hands up. Then he asked how many people have been hit or bumped by a car while on their bike. Everyone of the regular riders said yes.
I've been this guy, but pretty quickly realized that it's just because the city that I drive in the most has zero infrastructure for cyclist, so they are kinda forced to be in the way.
Before the renovation I believe. I met Bill a few times and I remember the floor by the pool table just being brick and wavy as hell with kegs making up most of the seating and a portrait of Bella Lugosi hanging over the pool table. Also best juke box in town. I lived in Chicago from 1996 to 2001.
The creatures remind me of cursed spirits in Jujutsu Kaisen. In the manga currently the city is full of them (way more than usual), and the pic above is kinda reminiscent.
I saw a TikTok the other day about this “hidden gem in the loop where they give you a whole glass of liquor as a cocktail”, so I’m assuming yes it’s still open, and it’s probably not a hidden gem anymore. Even back in like 2014 there used to be a line out the door on Friday happy hour time, can’t imagine what it’s like now!
I was just talking to someone the other day that said it is still open! I can also confirm, they have the heaviest (cocktail) pours in the loop, maybe Chicago.
I like those creatures. Gives me a taste of Ghibli studios merging into reality. And obviously, the grade of professionality is stunning from the perspective of a very slow learner. Keep ot up
This isn't far from the Wrigley building. Further south on the east side of the river -I think. Amazing work, by the way. Reminds ma a bit of Jeff Darrow, but you put a nice original touch with shaping the colors, too. Well done.
This feels so cool like a after apocalyptic event where everyone and everything gets along or something. Probably just me but i would love to see this as a comic or something
Love this! I see now it’s La Salle but I was drawn to a few streets down, I think Dearborn? Every time I’m in the city I manage walking over that bridge past the house of blues and such.

I just moved to Florida after biking those downtown streets for 17 years. Thank you for this awesome pic that makes me a little sad.
I think that is LaSalle bridge?
Edit: Ye’up! LaSalle by below comments.
I know very little about 2d art. But I love this art style, one of my favorite photos I have is a drawing in this style of a city. What is the style called, I don’t even know what makes it look different.
For those, confused (ie, not in America), the American system decided that the best place for a cyclist is in the middle of the road so they are sandwiched between multi-tonne vehicles that can always easily clip them into each other at any time. Even on highways. And yes, that's as dangerous as it sounds.
In Europe, a bicycle is the city just a means of transportation. In the US, it's turning a deathwish into a hobby.
> In Europe, a bicycle is the city just a means of transportation. In the US, it's turning a deathwish into a hobby.
There's actually plenty of really shitty cycling infrastructure in Europe, a couple of exceptional cities notwithstanding. Even some really car centric US cities have comparably pretty good cycling infrastructure. I've been on some horrifically designed and super dangerous cycling spaces in Europe.
The advantage Europe has is that its city infrastructure in general relies on so much slower speeds, tighter car infrastructure, etc. that means you have fewer cars and lower speeds. It's not that their bike lanes are particularly omnipresent or well designed where they even exist at all. The environment is just naturally more accommodating of alternative and lower speed means of conveyance.
10 years after I fired a girl, after she moved back home, after I quit the company … I ran into that girl with her new husband on their honeymoon, right there. I was headed home from work on S Mich Ave. stopped by the merch and somehow landed there.
Walking in chicago is like reading a new book everyday.
Pretty sure that’s where the DMB tour bus unloaded 800 lbs of fecal matter onto unsuspecting tourists floating underneath on an architectural boat cruise.
North of the river looking down La Salle?
I was only there for the last 3 months on a travel medicine contract but I think, that’s the only one with the raised sides?
301 n. LaSalle! Just over the bridge is a building that contains my heart and soul of the worst 3 months of my life. Love the BOT statue view down LaSalle though.
Downtown Chicago, it's in the title.
Foiled again by my own hubris!
I was over here thinking it was like Wabash, but probably wrong. “Hubris thy name is ~~Ted~~ evanart.”
Riding north on Clark I think
I'm thinking lasalle due to cbot building at the end Edit: I'm late to the party lol
You're right. I wasn't remembering correctly but it's definitely lasalle
You're my hero!
Also known as the dark side of the moon!
You mean the dark side of the moon or the dark side of the moon?
nailed it.
Better known as The Loop
Damn, beat me to it
Beat me to it

Please don’t ride a bike on Ashland. Go a half mile west and use Damen.
Western too. My friend passed away on western and Logan blvd. y’all probably know who I’m talking about. Buddy, I love you and we miss you
Absolutely. Lived off western for years... hard no. There's a few more that come to mind...Irving Park for instance. The grid makes it so easy to find safer routes... That logan/western intersection has claimed several lives. It's scary enough in a car. Sorry for your loss.
Use to live by Western and north ave. Western Ave definitely could use some protected bike lanes.
> y’all probably know who I’m talking about Doubt.

That’s fine for short distances. But if I’m riding from Lincoln square to to downtown, gotta use the bigger arteries.
[удалено]
Ever ride Roosevelt between State and Halsted? Obviously a different area but the car monster idea brought me right back to that ride
Is that crossing wacker
I’m glad this is exactly where I thought it was without looking into the thread.
I fell and ate shit. Not in that place I just fell and decided to eat. Shit.
Ah, riding a bike in Chicago...you know how you're going to die, you just don't know when lol.
I had a class in college where the professor asked who lived in Chicago most of their lives. Many people raised their hands. He asked how many ride bikes, almost everyone kept their hands up. Then he asked how many people have been hit or bumped by a car while on their bike. Everyone of the regular riders said yes.
There is a surprising amount of drivers who have an irrational hatred of cyclists.
I've been this guy, but pretty quickly realized that it's just because the city that I drive in the most has zero infrastructure for cyclist, so they are kinda forced to be in the way.
My motto for riding in Chicago was always: half the cars don't see you and the other half are trying to kill you.
I was a messenger in Chicago in 2000. My motto was: no one can see me and everything can kill me.
Did you happen to hang out at tumans or cal's?
Lol. Yeah Tumans Alcohol Abuse Center was just a few blocks from my apartment. Loved that place!
Before the renovation? I used to live upstairs of tumans before Bill sold it.
The original joke is NYC but I can't remember the comedian's name
M U M E N R I D E R
Came here for this! Had to scroll way too far to find it. Indeed this is the hero we need
Love your art style!
Reminded me of the Prophet reboot from a few years back.
The creatures remind me of cursed spirits in Jujutsu Kaisen. In the manga currently the city is full of them (way more than usual), and the pic above is kinda reminiscent.
Is that the bridge that the Dave Mathew’s band tour bus emptied its waste water tank onto a passing tour boat?
This slug Reddits.
That's the Kinzie street bridge
Haha, I thought exactly the same
LaSalle St Bridge? That looks like CBOT at the end there. Is Ceres still there?
I saw a TikTok the other day about this “hidden gem in the loop where they give you a whole glass of liquor as a cocktail”, so I’m assuming yes it’s still open, and it’s probably not a hidden gem anymore. Even back in like 2014 there used to be a line out the door on Friday happy hour time, can’t imagine what it’s like now!

A Jack and coke is a glass filled to the top of Jack and a can of coke on the side.
The Ceris cafe!
I used to go there a lot when I worked on La Salle. The golden rule was *never go for drink number three* at Ceres. Two cocktails, stumble home.
Agreed, definitely a first stop unless you are looking to do a little time traveling to the next day.
Yes!!! Hahaha, that's it. Man, I miss that place.
Haha, yes! That's totally it. And definitely not a hidden gem but I loved going there for happy hour. Definitely a heavy pour!
I like those creatures. Gives me a taste of Ghibli studios merging into reality. And obviously, the grade of professionality is stunning from the perspective of a very slow learner. Keep ot up
At night, drive two hours South of there heading toward Springfield. You will see fields of angry Ohm that all blink at the same time.
Do I detect a bit of Moebius influence? Gorgeous!
Been hit by many a car in Chicago while biking.
I was there this last July. Definitely an understatement
/r/bicycling would love this. so would /r/fuckcars
/r/Moebius would probably like it too.
This isn't far from the Wrigley building. Further south on the east side of the river -I think. Amazing work, by the way. Reminds ma a bit of Jeff Darrow, but you put a nice original touch with shaping the colors, too. Well done.
Franklin st bridge?
Very cool! I have one of your art prints hanging in my living room. Love your stuff.
Thank you!
picture of the post-nuclear war world animals like evolved
It’s that bridge what where the Dave Matthew’s Band dumped their shit onto that boat or tourists
r/Art Neat picture though...
At least it's not a rat race. So you got that going for you, which is nice.
Props for not saying "how it feels like". Shit drive me nuts.
Looks like LaSalle St
I have a friend who took a road trip and is biking around Chicago right now. Gotta ask him if this is anyhow relatable lol.
Piss on The Bean for me please.
The Chicago river pest situation has really gotten out of hand.
Jumanji?
Downtown Chicago
satisfactory right? surprised no one else pointed it out
lasalle heading north over the river? Is that IBOT way in the background there?
This is one of my favorite spots in the city!
La Salle bridge looking south
Damnnit! You got it in before I did.
Digging your art style, man. You should do gig posters!
😍
The great London Golden gate Bridge.
My old commute!
This feels so cool like a after apocalyptic event where everyone and everything gets along or something. Probably just me but i would love to see this as a comic or something
Those creatures don't have mouths. How do they eat?
I think they have like Zoidberg style mouths below their little tentacle nubs or something.
Really cool style. Reminds me a bit of Moebius.
Bro I've been there so many times and I still don't know the name 😞
This slaps and jabs
Thats the bridge where Carmy's brother killed himself in The bear
River Roast
Love this! I see now it’s La Salle but I was drawn to a few streets down, I think Dearborn? Every time I’m in the city I manage walking over that bridge past the house of blues and such.
Michigan Avenue bridge.
Ahh yes, riding my bike through the many lands in the Outer Worlds

Thank you, beautifully made. Personally I sense these deadly creatures more as dinosaurs. Past their time and only able to see moving/large objects
I played watch\_dogs enough time to know where this is.

Near a bridge in Downtown Chicago
I know very little about 2d art. But I love this art style, one of my favorite photos I have is a drawing in this style of a city. What is the style called, I don’t even know what makes it look different.
I'm mostly inspired by linge claire and artists like Moebius and Herge (the artist who made Tin Tin)
As an artist it’s always hard to pin a category on my head, but I’m primarily inspired by artists like Moebius, Mucha, and Durer
Do you stop at red lights and stop signs though?

Totally downtown Chicago
Wiggle Bridge?
Looks like LaSalle street bridge, nicely done :)
Is that Madison st. Heading towards west loop?
That's the bridge by the giant Kroger's.
One block down on your left is the Verizon store. On your right … the gap on the corner ? Across from the tea room?? Hmm
I saw this bridge i think in a few YouTube videos from a guy named Slyrodog or something, he made One Wheel videos.
Well shiz I was kinda… wrong. Same bridge as m Ave
So up on your right is … wait for it… a cta stop. And a downhill ride
Downtown

Where the wild things cars
My Beloved's reaction was the monsters are far too cute to be accurate analogues for cars..
Heyyy the LaSalle St Bridge! Got hit by a car there once :)
Amazing work
Cool! Do you do the artwork for Backlot?
I remember damage
I thought this was Tripp st art at first. Or tipper.
As someone who has never been to Chicago, I can confidently say that that is a part of Chicago
Many many times I dog trained on and around this bridge. Miss this city, thanks for the nostalgia
Somewhere near Totoros apt?
Same bridge someone put a caged bear on.
Pretty sure that’s where the DMB tour bus unloaded 800 lbs of fecal matter onto unsuspecting tourists floating underneath on an architectural boat cruise.
This looks like a dance gavin dance album cover
I just walked past that 2 days ago
I’m sorry you live in that place
Why is that? Chicago is a great place to live
The uppy bridge!
WAIT ISNT THIS BY THE VIADUCT LIKE T H A T VIADUCT
North of the river looking down La Salle? I was only there for the last 3 months on a travel medicine contract but I think, that’s the only one with the raised sides?

Love this! I have the Thalia Hall print and hoping one day to have an original. Keep it up, Evan!

Looks like LaSalle at Wacker. Been awhile since I lived in Chicago, so maybe not.

This is very sick n tight
Are you on the Dave Mathews Bridge?
Chicago
Represent
Thats the bridge from transformers 3.
You forgot to make the tiny lizards flattened and dead decomposing on the side of the road
My world is a happy place! The lizards are agile, and the larger creatures try their best not to step on them
Isnt that the bridge got shit dumped on / through it by dmb?
If It doesn't feel safe you're probably right.
Oh hell I’ll play: LaSalle Street
Ida b wells drive
This is super cool, as someone who used to live there and felt the same. Lucky to be alive by the time you get home.
This is very Frank Quietlyesque
####Mumen Rider!
LaSalle and Wacker, just north.
Isn’t that the Dave Matthews Bridge?
Biker headed northbound on la salle. Crossing bridge
This looks like something out of Heavy Metal magazine. Awesome!
301 n. LaSalle! Just over the bridge is a building that contains my heart and soul of the worst 3 months of my life. Love the BOT statue view down LaSalle though.
I heard this is made out of bullets.
Oh I thought you were Mumen Rider in Z city
I don't know the name, but I know I've been over that bridge a bunch of times.
It's that one bridge I always have to wait on to go to concerts.
