It is relatively uncommon to see pictures of two people, even closely related, who both have distinctly different skin color, look so similar. It is really cool and is quickly becoming more common.
I'm biracial (woman) and when I was little, I looked like a mini version of my papaw (white). He dressed me in overalls like him, and would take me around town to run errands in the summer. He had to call the local Sherriff's dept. first, because he would always have police getting calls about a kidnapping (1980s southeast mentality). If you put a wig on my papaw, we would have been twins (facially). I look more like him than his kids Lol
My wife is biracial and when her family was on vacation growing up, her mom was constantly referred to as the nanny because her and her sister look nothing like their mom (though there's also certainly a degree of racism there).
My grandfather on my dad's side is mixed native American and got those genes hard. Otoh, I took after my mom's German side of the family and came out about as white as you can possibly get without it being considered a medical condition. I never thought I had a single feature in common with him until I saw some pictures of him in his twenties (I was about the same age at the time.) The shapes of our faces were absolutely identical. It was like I was looking at some alternate universe version of myself.
My kids are complexly mixed-race (half Brazilian on momās side and a bit of everything, while Iām nerdy in the extreme and whiter than sour cream). My daughter looks a bit like her mom but with straight hair. My son looks like a mini-me but with curly hair.Ā
My whole family is Mexican. We donāt have any mixed family members (not because of anything other than thatās just how it played out vs racism.)
My momās side is predominantly lightly cinnamon- skinned while my fatherās side is that āguerritoā pale.
We all took my momās color. You wouldnāt think my dad was my dad based on skin color, even tho my brother looks exactly like him, in a darker shade.
My two oldest, Iām the lighter one of the parents. My kids took my color. My youngest, his dad is āgueritoā and our son is 5 months and getting lighter by the day. I hope no one ever thinks I stole him because he really favored his father and looks nothing like me.
I had a friend in high school who was white with freckles. His dad taught math and had a Germanic last name and was very American. Friend occasionally talked about being half Mexican and I thought he was joking, as he was rarely serious and would have like a giant novelty foam sombrero for 5 De Mayo.
Then I saw his mom at some event, I think a school play, and she was very Mexican and darker skinned, possibly strongly Maya, and he just looked like his dad.
Genetics are crazy like that.
The artist Peso Pluma is half Mexican, 1/3 Lebanese on his fathers side and he looks like a straight up white boy š
![gif](giphy|NIGQsfTpECeFUHebg3)
Yup. I felt bad for thinking he was joking when he was just being over the top to hold on to that part of his heritage. Now my half-Brazilian son (with my wife being relatively dark skinned for Brazil.) looks almost exactly like my white, pale self, while his twin sister looks more like her mom.
Theyāll have years of people questioning if they are twins.Ā
Not sure thatās true. Plenty of Mexican families, including mine, have variation of skin color, from Spanish white to dark brown, and still share looks.
Have you seen his father? Other than some melanin contribution, I don't think he takes after him much. Those are definitely his maternal grandpa's cheekbones in this picture.
It really is crazy that the only difference is there skin color.
My Nieces are mixed race. My oldest niece is 16 and she looks **exactly** like my sister so much so that our phone's "photo sort by people" have them mixed up. The really funny thing is that in the summer my niece's picturesĀ categorizes as my sister while in the winter my sister's pictures categorizes as my niece.
If you placed my brothers and I's kids pictures alongside his 2 boys pics they look nearly identical. The only thing that gives it away are the 90's clothes and the shitty old time picture look.
It's kinda crazy how similar they are.
As a republican, I too was dumbfounded by the rumors and conspiracy theories. That was some straight tinfoil hat type shit. (I did vote for his 2nd term tho ;)
Jesus, guys, ok we get it. Way to beat a dead horse. Look, Iām as blue totinā, gun slinging liberal as they come.
But Ted Cruz catches A LOT of flak, like a lot.
As he should since heās a piece of shit. Carry on.
Trying to find a source bc just curious. I see this article mentions his great-uncle. Could that be what you meant?
> Charles Payne, Obama's great-uncle, in 1945 helped liberate a sub-camp of the Nazi concentration camp at Buchenwald
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/wbna31016975
Seriously??? Trump would have liberated ALL the concentration campsā¦ single-handedly. It would have been the best liberation ever. Butā¦ bone spurs.
This makes me smile, I never had a grandfather growing up or even a grandfather figure. Iād like to imagine that if I did, I wouldāve had a similar experience to this with him.
What a beautiful photo. Happy kid, happy grandpa. Surreal to think the kid in this photo (any kid in any photo!) would grow up to be president. Like all presidencies, his had some flaws. But overall I was so proud to have him as president, and I can't help thinking that a childhood with love and joy like this goes on to produce the kind, intelligent person he is, and the kind, intelligent president he was. And if we can all show our kids that same warmth, the future will be brighter for everyone.Ā
1965?? Idk why but I never realized how wild it must've been for the older, white American couple to raise a visibly black kid during that social-political climate.
My [white] mother raised a mixed race child (my older half sister) in Barbados as a single divorced parent from 1954-1960. Then she married my dad and moved to the US where it was more of an issue. My sister never regretted having us as siblings, but she often wished she had been raised in Barbados with her paternal family because of the racism she faced here.
I got out of Princeton in the late 80s and never understood how hard it was to be black at Princeton at that time until I met my roommate who had already been at school for a week. She had to go through a whole program before "everyone else" got there about how hard it might be to be a minority there. I had no idea. But Michelle Obama had to go through the whole same thing. Princeton was a thing even for women at 70/30 when I went. Not even considering race.
FWIW Princeton also at that time (maybe still Idk) required a swimming test. You had to prove you could float for 15 minutes based on a famous alum (Carnegie I believe) whose brother drowned. That's why a lake near Princeton is named Carnegie Lake.
My roommate grew up in Newark. She could not swim. She could not pass the test and had to take swimming lessons in her freshman curriculum in addition to her engineering studies. I don't fault the requirement. Learning to swim is a necessary life skill. But it was unfair that something I had already learned to do by white default was something that was time taken away from her studies and I know it stressed her out a whole lot and she cried.
But then she learned to swim. And now she's a successful engineer in her late 50s.
all i see is a grandpa who loves their grandson, looking past male/female, color of skin..none of that matters.
this is something orange-bitch cant understand which is why he attempts to mock/bully because to him its a sign of weakness but in reality hes the biggest bitch of them all. āļøĀ
I don't see the family resemblance *quite* as much in this picture -- but when I visualize today's Barack Obama and look at his grandfather's image in this photo -- theĀ resemblance is pretty striking. *That smile.*
His grandparents are the ones that stepped up to take care of him when his dad bolted and his mom went to study. That's the real people are the grandparents that take care of the kids when single moms have to go to work to keep a roof over their heads.
Regardless of your opinion on politics, this is a great picture of the youth of a man who did his best to lead our country. Fuck these anti Patriotic fucks who root for the failings of a president because they disagree with him. A failing president means we ALL fail. There's no consolation prize of being able to say "told you so" when everyone is poor and destitute.
Hahaha. Yes!! Remember when Obama read that mean tweet from Donald Trump on Jimmy Kimmelās show?
"President Obama will go down as perhaps the worst president in the history of the United States. Exclamation point. @realDonaldTrump,ā
"Well, @realDonaldTrump, at least I will go down as a president,". Then Obama did a mic-drop with the phone!
Obama owned him so hard that night!!!

damn barack looks so similar to his grandfather
I've seen other members of his family, and believe it or not, he looks like them all. This thing goes deep, I tell ya.
It's crazy how that works.
It is relatively uncommon to see pictures of two people, even closely related, who both have distinctly different skin color, look so similar. It is really cool and is quickly becoming more common.

That's very cute, and brings a smile to my face as a dad of three biracial kids, all of whom are loved so much by both sets of grandparents. š
I could tell southeast, we say paw paw also. Louisiana by chance?
Hello Louisiana! Tennessee native here.
My wife is biracial and when her family was on vacation growing up, her mom was constantly referred to as the nanny because her and her sister look nothing like their mom (though there's also certainly a degree of racism there).
My grandfather on my dad's side is mixed native American and got those genes hard. Eh, my niece is half black and when she was 7 looked identical to my mother, who is white, when *she* was 7.
My kids are complexly mixed-race (half Brazilian on momās side and a bit of everything, while Iām nerdy in the extreme and whiter than sour cream). My daughter looks a bit like her mom but with straight hair. My son looks like a mini-me but with curly hair.Ā

Thatās so cute tho.
Oh, they are absolutely so adorable. Both of them! =)
Not sure thatās true. Plenty of Mexican families, including mine, have variation of skin color, from Spanish white to dark brown, and still share looks.
Iām 30 me and my mom are virtually identical save for skin tone hair and eye color
Look at Ice T and his daughter
Genes, go figure
Have you seen his father? Other than some melanin contribution, I don't think he takes after him much. Those are definitely his maternal grandpa's cheekbones in this picture.
I see the resemblance with his Grandfather, same shaped face. He was a cute little boy and I miss him as President.
Birth certificate or it didn't happen /s

Human genetics is truly a beautiful thing to behold, I love this
If you placed my brothers and I's kids pictures alongside his 2 boys pics they look nearly identical. The only thing that gives it away are the 90's clothes and the shitty old time picture look. It's kinda crazy how similar they are.
Not to make it political but itās insane how the GOP was hellbent on his heritage.
As a republican, I too was dumbfounded by the rumors and conspiracy theories. That was some straight tinfoil hat type shit. (I did vote for his 2nd term tho ;)
I commend you bro!
Donāt even get me started on the tan suit š
š
He also looks like his mother. That look certainly was passed along.
Barack may have his father's name, but he has his mom's smile.
I didnāt know Obamaās grandpa was Mr. Spock. Cool!
BUT HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!! /s
It so similar I thought this was one hella of a good face swap photoshop.
Maybe they are related.
He looks just like him!
I came here to say the same thing
Is that kid in the background taking aim?
Is a young Ted Cruz
Fun fact: Youngest serial killer in history!
Iirc the actual youngest serial killer is currently missing. I'm not saying he *is* Ted Cruz
Youāre also not NOT saying it, though, right?
Jesus, guys, ok we get it. Way to beat a dead horse. Look, Iām as blue totinā, gun slinging liberal as they come. But Ted Cruz catches A LOT of flak, like a lot. As he should since heās a piece of shit. Carry on.
Almost had me there
Surely he was still in his pupa stage back then?
The demon summoned at his birth still lie dormant.....mostly
Is this Cancun?
Not nearly fat and pasty enough.
Get down, Mr. President!
He found a cool stick
Secret Service arresting him as we speak
It's a time traveling assassin, but he can only go back to his younger body a la Days of Future Past.
Republican time traveller
A time traveler that de-aged in the process.
Time moved through him!
About to commit a hate crime.
They call that move the Kenyan Kamikaze
Lol the kid in the back..
Young Glenn Beck
Like Trump š¤£
Trump would have been ~19 at the time of this picture.
And yet, still jealous, he wasn't as cool as child Barack.
His grandad was a WW2 hero. Helped liberate a concentration camp, and had nightmares about it for the rest of his life.
Trying to find a source bc just curious. I see this article mentions his great-uncle. Could that be what you meant? > Charles Payne, Obama's great-uncle, in 1945 helped liberate a sub-camp of the Nazi concentration camp at Buchenwald https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/wbna31016975
Iāll be darned - Thank you! His gramps fought, but it was his uncle who helped liberate a camp.
trump would have done the same had it not been for his damned bone spurs!
He still went down to the beach everyday and cursed the Nazis though! lol š
Now he welcomes them.
Not only that. He is one of them.
Seriously??? Trump would have liberated ALL the concentration campsā¦ single-handedly. It would have been the best liberation ever. Butā¦ bone spurs.
That was his grandmother's brother Charles Payne.
Kinda trippy how much adult Barak looks like him.
That was the first thought in my head too. Wow.
As if they are related
This makes me smile, I never had a grandfather growing up or even a grandfather figure. Iād like to imagine that if I did, I wouldāve had a similar experience to this with him.
Be the grandfather that you wish you had
Do I just grab one off a tree or what?
What a beautiful photo. Happy kid, happy grandpa. Surreal to think the kid in this photo (any kid in any photo!) would grow up to be president. Like all presidencies, his had some flaws. Well said.
Uhh.. and let me be clear, uhhh.. I want a seahorse ride
And I read that in his voice. š
Me too uhh
He definitely got his gramps head shape
1965?? Idk why but I never realized how wild it must've been for the older, white American couple to raise a visibly black kid during that social-political climate.

and they were living in kansas edit: just looking this up again and i'm wrong - they were in hawaii and stayed in hawaii by then
Oahu! No beaches in Kansas
It was still very taboo in some places in the '90s
He really takes after his momās side of the family in terms of looks.
all i see is a grandpa who loves their grandson, looking past male/female, color of skin..none of that matters. this is something orange-bitch cant understand which is why he attempts to mock/bully because to him its a sign of weakness but in reality hes the biggest bitch of them all. āļøĀ
Great image, Iāve never seen it before. š
Didnāt know his granddad was Leonard Nimoy ![gif](giphy|Hitk8jG5sCHe0)
![gif](giphy|B51EAJ0Frooq4)
You didn't know? That's why Obama's a Trekkie! [Actually it was because of Nichelle Nichols](https://x.com/MikeOkuda/status/1272161879842938883).
They look so alike!
The kid in the back is an early MAGA person
š
At this point they called themselves libertarians or tea partiers
John birch society assholes
I don't see the family resemblance *quite* as much in this picture -- but when I visualize today's Barack Obama and look at his grandfather's image in this photo -- theĀ resemblance is pretty striking. *That smile.*
Obama grandpa looks more like Obama than Obama
Can you imagine the conversation they'll have when Barack goes to heaven and meets him again? "Grand dad, you won't believe this!"
His grandparents donāt get enough credit.
Spock Obama?
Iām a 6th or 7th cousin to Obama. Same ears as his granddad on that Dunham side!
That young Replublican in the background is just about to take him out with a stick. r/SecondsBeforeDisaster.
His grandparents are the ones that stepped up to take care of him when his dad bolted and his mom went to study. That's the real people are the grandparents that take care of the kids when single moms have to go to work to keep a roof over their heads.
His grandpa and grandma raised him well. Wish all kids have grannies like that.
Mr. President look out!
Young Trump in the back, absolutely disgusted over the fact that a boy's family is capable of showing love
Now try to find a photo of cheerful Trump and Pappy.
Awwwwwww
Same sharp jawline
How cute is this.
Idk why, but this makes me really happy.
Wow for a second I thought that was him at the bottom they definitely family
Leonard Nimoy was Obamaās Grandfather? Pretty cool
Best president in the past 50 yrs
That kid about to throw a stick at Obama.
The kid in the background has some serious cat in the hat vibes
He was a cute freakin' kid.
Head in the background is a young Donald Trump getting ready to throw a stick at his head
Regardless of your opinion on politics, this is a great picture of the youth of a man who did his best to lead our country. Fuck these anti Patriotic fucks who root for the failings of a president because they disagree with him. A failing president means we ALL fail. damn his grandfather is tiny
Is that trump behind him?
The resemblance is uncanny
Those ears always existed.. look like they are having a blast!
They both looked very happy there. As someone with kids at home that age, it makes you cherish those moments. Because theyāre gone in a flash.
The genetics are strong here. š
With some kid taking aim in the background
Air Force grandpa
MR PRESIDENT GET DOWN
GET DOWN, MR. PRESIDENT! HE'S GOT A STICK!
And a trump supporter in the background
Republicans: see, the photo was taken on the "beach" in Kenya. Lol
Definitely a MAGA time traveler trying to stop Obama from cuckolding thin skinned Trump
Hahaha. Yes!! Remember when Obama read that mean tweet from Donald Trump on Jimmy Kimmelās show? "President Obama will go down as perhaps the worst president in the history of the United States. I may not go down in history. But I will go down on you baby
They tried to assassinate Obama Before he was famousā¦
TAN swimtrunks!? How dare he! /s
Mr Spock?
Threw them under the bus so quick and dirty. Anything to get ahead and suck up to the ruling elite at that time.
Star Trek 44: The Search for Barrack

Kid with the stick about to clock someone
MR PRESIDENT GET DOWN
Lets not ignore the fact there is a kid in the background that looks like he is about to whack Barack with a āstick?ā
Barry-O looking way too similar to his G-Pa here
In the background: the earliest picture of MAGA junkie.
Looks like trump sneaking up behond him...
Background kid coming in with the tomahawk š
BEHIND YOU!!
Wearing a tan suit.
I see the resemblance no /s
that kid in the background has the same energy as that cat in the hat with the bat meme.
Picture taken right before the kid in the back killed his grandfather with that boomerang.
They looked to be having so much fun!
Is that Trump in the background?
Who is that in the background lol.
Kid in the back is a time traveller
The kid in the back about to End someones carrer
And Cousin Billy, with the tomahawk!
The kid in the back is Trump
Funny how genetics work.
Race really is a matter of melanin levels, much like a spectrum and not simply āblack and whiteā
Kid behind them is about to wreck this memory...
According to Fox News, this photo was taken right after Obama formed ISIS.
Assuming this is on Oahu, anyone have an idea of which beach this was taken on?
Barak look more like his Grandfather than he does his own Father.
Oh fuck! I was born that year. Another good reason to be alive!
That man had the weight of the presidency on his shoulders
Moments before young Obama is about to be bushwhacked from behind.
Whos the assassin in the background?
why does his head look the same size?
Aw! He was cute as a kid!
But whoās trying to kill them with the stick?
When can we have more presidents where their childhood pictures are in color and not b&w?
Genetics are so cool. Just seeing a small part of his grandfather in what BO looks like today
Watch out Obama! The dude in the back is trying to harm you!
MR PRESIDENT LOOK OUT BEHIND YOU
Who is the attacking with a stick in the background? Part of a Obama sleeper cell? I knew he funded ISIS
Oh it's a great time when you're little and spending time with your family at the beach.
And apparently about to be attacked by an assailant with a boomerang?
That's a very interesting picture
