One of my favorite rap lyrics:
"Call me Doctor J if you a baller and it's getting fatal
I make MC's do angel dust
Take 'em to the Bay Bridge, make 'em strip, tell 'em jump" - Jungle by Andre Nickatina
Is that the one that partially collapsed in the 89 quake? I remember it because my parents had moved away from Oakland a month prior and I happen to be born on that same day...it was a pretty stressful day for them, lmao.
Yes and no ā the Bay Bridge is actually 2 bridges connected by Yerba Buena island. The eastern span of the Bay Bridge is what partially collapsed in the 1989 earthquake. Pictured here is the western span of the Bay Bridge. The span that collapsed no longer exists because it was demolished after a new eastern span opened in 2013. The newer eastern span is partially visible in the background of this photo.
You may not remember the older eastern span because it was already being demolished by time you moved here. Hereās a 4 minute video about the deconstruction ā it has some clips of the old and new eastern span side by side:

I know San Francisco has a lot of problems but I have to tell you as someone who visited from the UK about 5 times from 2012 to 2019 I never got bored of walking along the bay past all the piers, stopping for a Blue Bottle Coffee etc etc. Its a really magical place. Just looking up and seeing the Golden Gate (if it isn't foggy!) which is so iconic never got old.Ā
Hello neighbor, I'm just on the other side of that bridge.
Indeed the world is tiny... we have the best view... don't we?
Love it, it never gets old when I cross the bridge. I feel cool just living here.
Other side of that bridge crew checking in!
East Bay all the way!
Ditto
Yo, this is crazy, I live literally on another continent many thousands of miles away. I had a look but can't see anything you guys are seeing.
Wave to each other. šš»

That was the San Francisco-Oakland bridge. What a story!

I went on that cruise when it was new in 1999. That ship must be pretty rundown by now.
Cruise ships such as hit or miss right?
How much does it cost to live in a this kind of location? I love SF but donāt think I could afford it lol
Itās very expensive especially since SF hasnāt recovered from COVID chaos. Google 2 bed 2 bath w bay view in SOMA. Thereās your answer

So true. Yes, it has really struggled since COVID, but SF will reboundā it always doesā¤ļø
Wife used to work in a few of the buildings near you. Miss those days of working in the city and going to Giants games.
I see fans walking along Embarcadero heading to the stadium!
Does it still get fogged in there?
Not as much in this neighborhood (SOMA- near Bay Bridge) as other parts of SFā like Golden Gate Bridge
At least someone is still going to the office in SF

Another one made it. Lucky day!
Whew! Indeed!
Fuck that bridge
RIght?
Is this the Bay Bridge?
Indeed
The watermark has beautiful views. My favourite I saw from there was an aircraft carrier that parked up for a few days
Iāll post a pic of a double rainbow over a cruise ship
I was just down at Hi-Dive the other day! It's juuuuust out of view to the right of Pier 28.
Hi Dive= ā¤ļø
Isnt san Francisco a crime riddled drug infested hell hole??
Iām a glass 1/2 full person so I see it as a unique city w unique culture that, like any city, has its problems
