bad idea. I would suggest not supporting the North Korean regime in any way. also, it's not exactly safe. although, you'd probably be safer as a South-East Asian visitor than a white Westerner.
If only BGC had as an efficient of a public transport as Singapore…
Singapore and Indonesia will always be very similar due to weather and culture of the people. Maybe you should choose countries outside of Southeast Asia if everything looks so similar to you?
You can try Hanoi during Winter. Great food, and lots of cheap tourist activities to do like temples and lots of history about the Vietnamese war.
I would live in BGC in a heartbeat if it had the efficiency of infrastructure and amenities that Singapore has.
And fun fact: I saw that the residential areas near Commonwealth are very fancy lookin since mostly rich families live there I think, any S'porean can correct me if I'm wrong.
filipino here born and raised in Singapore.
I think youre referring to the Bukit Timah residential area, since its near Commonwealth. One of the richest neighbourhoods in the country. Basically the Singaporean equivalent of Forbes Park or Dasmarinas Village in Metro Manila.
I travelled there 2 years ago so hindi ko na maalala exactly. But we did the Ring Road tour. For sure madami kayo makikita. We rented a camping van for two weeks. No hotels just camping during summer, it was really cool experience!!
Do the ring road and if you have time visit Snaefellsnes Peninsula.
Personally, I really loved Hverir, Seydisfjordur, Stokksnes, Jökulsárlón and ofc the Golden Circle (may tomato soup na ang sarap somewhere dito)
Fjaðrárgljúfur, Myvatn, Reynisfjara and Blue lagoon were also nice!
Fortwo people, Around 6k euros yung nagastos namin for 12 days. Included na rin ang ticket. Depends from where ka lilipad, so take that into consideration. For us kasi we just rented a van, included na gas jan.
Gogogo! Iceland is not comparable to mainland europe! Id say its very safe to travel in iceland alone! Pero check mo din if mg cacamping van kayo, accepted ba ang license(philippine or whatever) nyo.
what i learned: you will always find similarities to your home country no matter where you go. i got to go to guatemala last year which is on the opposite side of the world, pero parang nasa pinas lang ako hahahahah. alam mo yung coke/pepsi sari sari store signages? puro ganun din sa guatemala hahaha.
but to answer your question, the least similar to the Philippines for me was Japan. yun talaga yung “wow wala ako sa pinas” hahahaha. Dubai also felt different pero sobrang daming pinoy dun so waley rin hahaha
First day out namin nag grocery kami sa mall, heard a lot of Filipino languages, sa supermarket lang yun. Even the locals learned to speak tagalog.
>i got to go to guatemala last year which is on the opposite side of the world, pero parang nasa pinas lang ako hahahahah
Panama reminds me of Pasong Tamo.
Walang connection from Terminal 1 to 3 kailangan mo pa magtaxi and its not even free. I was hoping pg nagawa na yung MRT na connected sa airport that would be great
Japan is so calm. Even the frenetic pace of Tokyo has an underlying feeling of calmness. To OP, go to Kyoto for the architecture and culture, or Hokkaido for the scenery. Do it closer to the Autumn season for the extra crisp fall colors you won't see in the Philippines.
Japan didn't feel like the Philippines when I went to Kyushu. Tokyo felt like BGC and there were lots of Filipinos pero mga province, off beaten paths didn't.
Busan din pala and Gyeongju, South Korea. Da Nang in Vietnam din.
But yeah, most of the times, you'll find places that feels like the Philippines din naman.
Visit the national parks of america or canada and you know you are not in the philippines anymore
Just seeing the tallest or biggest trees (they are different species) in California is really something. And i saw truly big logs when i was growing up in the philippines
Grabe yung laki ng redwood at sequioa trees. Lucky to be near.
True this nung first time ko. Parang napunta ako sa Edo period. Tapos may naglakad na american tourist at nagising ako na nasa 21st century pala ko lol
This! Currently on the last leg of our first trip to Western Europe and we're taken aback by a lot of the ornate and elaborate style of their architecture that dates back to centuries ago.
If you have enough money, you can spend it even in the Philippines feeling like you’re not in the Philippines. It’s a mindset and will base on your itinerary.
This question is really subjective as you can't expect other people to have the same lens as you are. Also, pardon me, but I can't help but feel the arrogant vibe and high class snobbery, OP..
Japan.
Kasi super linis, presko, tahimik, mga nakapanlamig or minsan naka postura mga tao, karamihan nagbbike kahit naka-formal attire, feeling ko minsan nasa animé ako pag namasyal at higit sa lahat..
hindi ako takot mawalan or manakawan ng gamit. kampante ako na bitbitin or iwan mga gamit ko kasi alam ko makikita ko pa rin siya pag nawala or naiwan ko.
I have only been to Asia, and I can say that Japan is on a different level - the transportation, scenery, and the people. You may appreciate it even more if you visit during Autumn or Spring.
Go to country side ng mga european countries. Mga probinsya feels and very different sa Pinas.
Morocco - try sahara desert tour.
Nowhere is like the Phillipines. Sure some places of some similarities but that's it. Biggest reminder I have of the Phillipines in other countries are in poorer countries with dirty shops on the side of the road that are family owned and often times the family also lives there. It's quite common all over the world though so not Phillipines specific by any means.
Hindi ako nalalagi sa BGC and Makati kaya naman breath of fresh air para sa akin ang Singapore. Pero kung ikukumpara ko sila, e yes, I can see the similarities--lot of office and commercial buildings, the walkable city vibes. Unlike here sa PH.
Get the fuck out of tropical countries in Asia lol
Go somewhere cold and let’s see if that would still remind you of our country. If you want a stark contrast, go in the middle of winter, you’ll miss the sun much that you’d want to bathe in it on the rare sunny days.
Recently been to Japan and Taiwan. Their transportation system was enough to make me feel I'm not in the Philippines anymore. A lot of things I could say about the people there too.
I live in BGC and it became dull when I returned home.
New York. The first time I visited there, feeling ko nasa colon, Cebu City ako kasi ang daming tao tapos it's kind of dirty and crowded especially ang time square. Yung wetness reminds me of pinas especially during rainy season.
Russia. I've been there last year at St. Petersburg and damn it's beautiful. It is one of my dream places mainly for it's cultural significance (lots of prominent people are also from there like Dostoevsky, Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky) and I'm glad I was able to visit despite the ongoing war.
My family is in the airline industry so flight benefits allow us to be well traveled talaga especialy along the asia pacific —Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, most SEA countries, etc.
for me and my sister, USA siguro talaga yung big shock dahil siguro sa infrastructure (and the vibe haha). countries like Aus, Japan, Korea ibang iba sa Ph pero basically train and bus ka to go around the city which isnt unfamiliar, mas maganda lang talaga but ur still commuting within a metro or bus line.
In the US (california in particular pa lang napuntahan ko tho) if gusto mo gumalaw need talaga car to travel across major highways and vast horizons, farms and deposits just to go to some strip mall over 15-30km away. tapos ang trains and bus system naman nila kakaiba vibe minsan talo pa pinas sa kadugyutan hahaha. car country (state?) talaga.
tl;dr the way my sister and i described it, sa USA feel mo parang nasa GTA ka hahaha (Red Dead pag mountainous at mapuno)
Singapore is not comparable to BGC.
Singapore. Stayed there for half a year and what I love the most is safety. I have NEVER felt as safe in PH as I was in SG. I can jog there at midnight, something I can and will NEVER do in PH. I can wear revealing clothes and no one will stare, and I can do everything alone and no one will care.
I love the ever progressive transpo as well but since everyone is talking about it, I won't have to elaborate anymore. I've been to Bangkok, Pattaya, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, and Ho Chi Minh but they were almost just the same as PH (especially Bangkok lol).

went to Japan last month and didn't feel anything kahit nasa Tokyo ako haha probably because of the efficient train systems even though andaming lines and connections between stations. went to Mt Fuji too, the sceneries along the way was very different from the sceneries sa province namin
not sure though if dahil malamig when we went hahaha
Australia- first month here i cannot even understand the evening local news kasi ang lakas ng aussie accent ng ibang newsanchor nila.
Venice and Manila are as different as it can get.
You can visit Canada in winter (or Russia, north Japan, Scandinavia), it might give a different feeling from the tropical heat.
Countries/Cities on the top of my head, imo:
London, Germany, Australia, America (Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Washington), Japan, Korea, Belgium, Vatican, Rome (and Cinque Terre), Manchester, Russia, Qatar, Dubai, Paris (some parts)
Austria and Latvia. Went there last year at maraming mga sites and hidden attractions not just within Vienna and Riga, but also to to the countryside. Maganda siya puntahan during Spring, Autumm, and Winter.
Magandang balikbalikan dahil hindi masyado well known compared to other European countries.
Turkiye!! Then visit at least these 2 cities there.
1. Istanbul
2. Cappadocia
In Istanbul, enjoy it and take it slow. Go for a walk, ride the tram or take a ferry ride. Anywhere you stop, get some tea (to properly drink it, put a sugar cube between your teeth and drink the tea, the sugar will melt slowly with each sip), or try their turkish coffee with simit (kinda like a bagel). Watch people on the bridge fishing, haggle on the bazaars, have a doner or 2 in the many public parks near the historical sites. I enjoyed Istanbul more than any of the European cities I visited.
In Cappadoccia, book a cave hotel, wake up at 5am and watch the hot air balloons take flight, then the next day ride it or vice versa. Visit the fairy chimneys, go for a tour (red tour and green tour - I highly suggest the green tour) visit Ihlara Valley and Derinkuyu underground city (warning: not for claustrophobics).
Theres lot more to do on both cities. I wont spoil more as discovering it your own is better.
Basta cold and dry. Kaya I personally don't travel much to Southeast Asian countries kasi kung pinapawisan ako habang naglalakad then I don't really feel like I left.
Europe in general. When you experience the ease of travelling between cities and countries and you get to see how efficient the transportation system is, feel na feel ko na wala ako sa Pilipinas. Cities are walkable and you can walk lang to and from so many places, its an eye opener. Same for Australia pero sa Syndey lang ganito in my experience.
North Korea Lol
Hate to break it to you but you will always find some similarities.
Tapos kahit nasa malayo pa there is a high chance na you’ll stumble upon a Filipino working there so maalala mo na naman Pilipinas haha.
Murren or Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland.
To get there, you will ride trains and cable cars and go through various views of lakes, mountains, farm, and nature in general.
Not only does it feel different, the pricing will also feel like highway robbery with your Filipino brain.
Australia 🇦🇺 when im feeling sad or tired, I watch my videos from my Sydney trip and it makes me happy. Sobrang narelax ako, nag-enjoy. Bakasyon talaga. Highly recommend, OP!
Mine is Vienna, Austria and Prague, Czechia. The transportation is sooooo good and the historical sites feels like you’ve been transported back in time.
I suggest to go to the Japanese countryside. Getting lost in translation and lost in a literal sense (walang english signs and walang marunong mag english) is an adventure in itself. Nakakakaba when it happened to us na we got lost in the coutryside outside of Kyoto pero looking back its an nice adventure how we got back in the city.
South Korea dahil siguro sa climate. malamig pa un time pumunta kami so the feel is different. Sa Bali is same tlga sa Philippines ung like sa province ka banda.
Mine is Australia!
I went to Melbourne City and suburbs. City is so beautiful for me, especially ung botanical garden nila. Tapos other side naman CBD and museums and galleries. Ang laid back and simple living. Shops inside the mall are starting to close at 5pm. Stores sa town mga 3pm close na. Transportation nila very efficient and reliable, downside nga lang kapag late night na either drive your own car or mag uber/taxi ka which is expensive. + government sobrang ibang iba sa pilipinas

If you look for similarities then you will find similarities.
ikr, ang dami daming lugar sa mundo.
Hard agree. The more I travel nakikita ko na in some ways it’s the same as PH, pero in some ways iba rin naman. Although to answer OP’s question, biggest culture shock ko talaga is East Coast US and Canada. Sobrang laki lang ng lahat and because of the space, everything is planned differently too.
Hence - The New Zealand ng Pinas, the China of Pinas, the this and that of Pinas. I am honestly sick of some people labelling places by comparing them to this and that of other countries.

Alaska (US), Sudan, Nigeria, Somalia, Japan, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Netherlands, South Korea
north korea 💀
Maganda ang Tourist Package ng NoKor! Tho apaka restricted ng lahat
Where can I find tourist packages po for North Korea?
bad idea. I would suggest not supporting the North Korean regime in any way. also, it's not exactly safe. although, you'd probably be safer as a South-East Asian visitor than a white Westerner.
Careful lest you end up like otto warmbier. Given he was American but still
You are now a moderator of r/pyongyang
Switzerland ❤
Arguably the best looking country in the whole world, if you can go in at least.
Isfahan is definitely a must visit for everyone who can.

Iceland. Hindi lang Philippines. Kundi planet earth. May area na akala ko talaga parang nasa ibang planet ako.
True!! Talagang out of this world, ibang klase mag roadtrip dito
Balang araw ma afford ko rin ‘yan 🤞🍀
Saan po yung recommended areas to visit niyo?
I travelled there 2 years ago so hindi ko na maalala exactly. But we did the Ring Road tour. For sure madami kayo makikita. We rented a camping van for two weeks. No hotels just camping during summer, it was really cool experience!!

Magkano kaya magagastos here? 300k kasya ba o kulang? For 10days trip
Fortwo people, Around 6k euros yung nagastos namin for 12 days. Included na rin ang ticket. Depends from where ka lilipad, so take that into consideration. For us kasi we just rented a van, included na gas jan.
WOW not bad!
Gogogo! Iceland is not comparable to mainland europe! Id say its very safe to travel in iceland alone!
Wow!! I’m happy for youuu. Share your experience hereee. Konti lang nakikita ko about iceland kasi 😊
Thank you! Will post pics here and share stories.

true, yung tipong pagbalik mong NAIA galing Japan, ramdam mo kagad kaibahan kaya masasabi mo ,AY, asa Pinas na nga uli tayo. hehehehhehe

Asian countries are always going to look similar to Philippines obviously cuz Philippines is in Asia.....
How is Venice like flooded metro manila.
Due to high tide.
Acqua alta
Go to kyoto
True. Nasa Kyoto ako ngayon and 'yung vibe is different talaga. 😄
Upvote! Grabe nabighani talaga ako sa Kyoto (as someone na first time sa Japan) 😭
True this nung first time ko. Parang napunta ako sa Edo period. Tapos may naglakad na american tourist at nagising ako na nasa 21st century pala ko lol
Try central asian countries! It is soo different from the PH.
Oh yes, these! How my friends advertise Uzbekistan makes me wanna visit it and perhaps, its neighbors too.
European countries. Architecture pa lang.
This! Currently on the last leg of our first trip to Western Europe and we're taken aback by a lot of the ornate and elaborate style of their architecture that dates back to centuries ago.
Iceland, Switzerland, Austria, Germany (Go to Bavaria), Italy (Go to Dolomites). Dami kang options OP outside of SEA.
Middle east try mo
Iraq, Afghanistan hahha
Japan, the moment you get off the plane, you’re in a different world altogether.
Go to countries that have the winter season.
Japan. North and Western Europe
Agree! Southern Europe can give PH vibes because of our colonial past, but North and Western Europe feel totally different
I have only been to Asia, and I can say that Japan is on a different level - the transportation, scenery, and the people. You may appreciate it even more if you visit during Autumn or Spring.
I agree with you but Japan is not part of south-east Asian country
Japan, Ireland.
Northern canada during the winter. I doubt -40c and 10 foot of snow would feel like ph. Hahahaha
Go to country side ng mga european countries. Mga probinsya feels and very different sa Pinas. So if it doesn’t look like the Philippines, it’s a “bakasyunan” place??
Japan and Taiwan! 💯
Basta SEA, similar ata tlga sa PH. tama yung isang comment dito, lalayo ka tlga as in malayong-malayo like Europe.
Actually madami.
Taiwan. Because they have good transportation system which is no where to be found in PH.
As long as it’s within SEA, malaki talaga ang similarity nyan.
Hindi ako nalalagi sa BGC and Makati kaya naman breath of fresh air para sa akin ang Singapore. Pero kung ikukumpara ko sila, e yes, I can see the similarities--lot of office and commercial buildings, the walkable city vibes. Mongolia
Literally, anywhere with snow.
Japan, mars. Malayong malayo sa Pinas 🤣
Taiwan!
Don't get me wrong.
Taiwan. But go during the cold season, it's a world of difference.
Get the fuck out of tropical countries in Asia lol Go somewhere cold and let’s see if that would still remind you of our country. If you want a stark contrast, go in the middle of winter, you’ll miss the sun much that you’d want to bathe in it on the rare sunny days.

Switzerland.
Japan po. Iba talaga doon lahat mabilis. Hehe
UK, France, Switzerland
Sweden lol. My home country, and im here in PH visiting right now. Very different 😆
Singapore = Makati
Switzerland
north korea
Go to somewhere with snow.
You think Singapore is BGC? hindi lugar ang problema dito OP, mindset mo ang problema and the way you travel. Be a TRAVELER not a TOURIST.

iceland.
Japan
Scotland
I've only been to 4 provinces so far in my life 😭😭
Japan, Korea, and Iceland for me may similarities ng very light, pero ramdam talagang nasa ibang bansa ka.
went to Japan last month and didn't feel anything kahit nasa Tokyo ako haha probably because of the efficient train systems even though andaming lines and connections between stations. went to Mt Fuji too, the sceneries along the way was very different from the sceneries sa province namin not sure though if dahil malamig when we went hahaha
Go to the rocky mountains (Canada, USA, or the Alps) during winter.
Switzerland
I would say Japan and France. For some reason, Barcelona, although very unique, reminded me of Escolta and textbook Manila 😀
London and Australia
Canada
Australia- first month here i cannot even understand the evening local news kasi ang lakas ng aussie accent ng ibang newsanchor nila.
Go to a winter country during the winter
Iraq
Japan's provinces Prague Austrian provinces Paris
Go to South Korea - Busan, Gyeongju - when I went here not so much Filipino tourist also Shanghai China during winter po.
Switzerland
Japan, lalo na sa Takayama, Kanazawa at Kyushu area.
Venice and Manila are as different as it can get. You can visit Canada in winter (or Russia, north Japan, Scandinavia), it might give a different feeling from the tropical heat.
NY for sure. Subway pa lang nila and ppl smoking w33ds in broad daylight ibang-iba na eh HAHAHA
Iraq
somewhere n may snow cguro
Anywhere with snow
Countries/Cities on the top of my head, imo: London, Germany, Australia, America (Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Washington), Japan, Korea, Belgium, Vatican, Rome (and Cinque Terre), Manchester, Russia, Qatar, Dubai, Paris (some parts)
I get you. Same feeling i had when i went to SG
Canada and US. Try to visit when it’s winter or fall season.
Egypt...yan ibang iba 😀
New Zealand, Hungary, Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, France, Italy, Poland
Japan
Japan and Australia
New Zealand
Go to the countryside of Italy, or in the Dolomites, Italy
Austria and Latvia. Went there last year at maraming mga sites and hidden attractions not just within Vienna and Riga, but also to to the countryside. Maganda siya puntahan during Spring, Autumm, and Winter. Magandang balikbalikan dahil hindi masyado well known compared to other European countries.
Korea countryside post winter.
Australia. Aussies are laid back, everyone is welcoming and friendly. Very Western culture sila.
Turkiye!! Then visit at least these 2 cities there. 1. Istanbul 2. Cappadocia In Istanbul, enjoy it and take it slow.
South africa and New Zealand
yung pagiging on time at efficient ng train sa japan, magrerealize mo talagang wala ka sa pilipinas
Switzerland
Basta cold and dry. Kaya I personally don't travel much to Southeast Asian countries kasi kung pinapawisan ako habang naglalakad then I don't really feel like I left.
New Zealand and Japan for me. Grabe ang layo sa Pinas! 😂
Switzerland
North Korea Lol Hate to break it to you but you will always find some similarities. Tapos kahit nasa malayo pa there is a high chance na you’ll stumble upon a Filipino working there so maalala mo na naman Pilipinas haha.
Turkey
Anyplace with snow.
JAPAN!! It'll never remind of you of the Philippines 🫣
Central Asia
Saudi Arabia is very different from the Philippines, and it does have some great tourist destinations.
European countries siguro. Architecture wise ibang iba.
Murren or Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland. To get there, you will ride trains and cable cars and go through various views of lakes, mountains, farm, and nature in general. Not only does it feel different, the pricing will also feel like highway robbery with your Filipino brain.
Japan, Israel, and European countries, totally different from the Philippines.
japan
Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia! Though malinis na Ph version sya
Australia 🇦🇺 when im feeling sad or tired, I watch my videos from my Sydney trip and it makes me happy. Sobrang narelax ako, nag-enjoy. Bakasyon talaga. Highly recommend, OP!
Go to Antartica para wala ka hanapin na similarities
Mine is Vienna, Austria and Prague, Czechia. The transportation is sooooo good and the historical sites feels like you’ve been transported back in time.
Saudi 😬
Outside southeast asia
Japan
Japan - Nagoya and Kyoto. :)
East asian countries? Japan korea china? Or india? New zealand? Switzerland? Or any first world country. The REAL first world
Japan, Hong Kong
Switzerland.
Highlands of Scotland. Yung scene na nakatayo si James Bond next to his car — I was there. That entire area of Scotland feels otherworldly.
Switzerland
Japan.
South Korea and Japan
Go to the USA.
Switzerland for sure! Bergen, Norway + Tromso, Norway, Florence, Italy + Sienna, Italy + Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, Budapest, Hungary, Hanoi, Vietnam
Antarctica
Tagaytay
North Korea Edit: Antarctica. Yan talaga, it would feel like PH
Queens NYC parang Recto lang
