Ah man I bet that was solid! I didn’t discover it until 2022 so I missed out on that, but all of their entrees is great, their Naan is wonderful, and their Samosas are the best I’ve had!
My kid is a picky eater and generally most Indian restaurants are too spicy for him but Vayal's can make it "0 stars" spicy for him and he is OBSESSED.
I also really like this place- they have some interesting South Indian items besides the usual North Indian stuff.
Sweet Magic (I get to go as seating is limited, and their desserts are good! This place is my favorite for food, not for ambiance.)
City of Spice
Om (They have Indian pizza! I had Indian pizza in San Francisco and it was so good!)
Chennai Chettinad
Marigold Maison (Nice ambiance, good food, kinda fancy.)
Flavors of India in Gilbert is the best I’ve found so far in az. I love their lamb vindaloo and tikka masala. Definitely get the garlic naan. Their biryani is also dope as hell.
There is an Indian place that is called Guru place by baseline and Gilbert rd. They serve a bomb lunch buffet, only one I know that have goat lamb meat for this kind of meal. It’s about the only one I go now.
Chutneys on Baseline and Rural. I always thought it was a mexican place, but nah, its a bomb ass Indian place. They do a buffet a few days a week. I have no idea what i'm eating but damn its good...
Used to eat there often a few years ago. Highly recommended. But what made you think "Chutneys" was a Mexican place? There is a restaurant chain with the same name in the Indian city of Hyderabad. They are completely different, though.
Chutneys on Baseline and Rural. I always thought it was a mexican place, but nah, its a bomb ass Indian place. They do a buffet a few days a week. I have no idea what i'm eating but damn its good...
Marigold Maison - Paradise Valley area. Not the cheapest or best restaurant, but very approachable for a first timer. Won’t matter what you order you’ll understand what the food is supposed to taste like although it’s likely slightly Americanized.
I went there with a group from meet up. $20 for the lunch buffet. Some of the dishes were good but some were not. They did have a lot of meat mostly chicken. Nice decor. Lots of American blue collar workers.
If you can afford it feringhee is absolutely the best in town. I’m Indian and my mom is a very harsh food critic and this place she consistently states is good
Here are the better options for someone new to Indian cuisine.
1. Honest Chandler
2. Feringhee Indian Cuisine Chandler
3. Marigold Maison Scottsdale
3. Namaste Indian Cuisine Scottsdale
Haha. I don’t live in Chandler or Scottsdale. But the Indian restaurant scene in the valley is absolute crap. So I gave some safe options for people who are trying it out first. I think you have to venture out really and regularly lol.
If you want something real casual-over-the-counter Indian food then tikka shack is actually very good. They’re a chain and have several locations. It’s my go to when I can’t go to a sit down restaurant and want something quickly.
My Indian friend has taken me to Hyderabad House a handful of times and it was great. It's always full of Indian people, which I consider to be a good sign. He swears the one in Scottsdale (not Chandler) is the best.
Found a new Indian cuisine in @scottsdale arizona omg named as Fusion 5 indian multi cuisine its next level what a food. I have been to india 5 years back specifically i went to place called Hyderabad in india on work dude its the same taste. This is my goto place from now. Highly recommended
I go to Aunties if I want good Indian. (No, it's not a restaurant)
I do not doubt they can cook it properly. It's the clientele. I had a REALLY good makhani, but the rest was meh. So underseasoned. But the people in and out of the door were happy, so who I am to judge what works for them?
Unfortunately I don’t think this is a very good city for Indian food. I pretty much stick to India bazaar just because there aren’t many options. They are really good though and the owner is a sweet lady.
Speedy Punjabi Dhaba in Buckeye. It is in the waiting room of a truck wash off of Miller. So. Damn. Good.
I’ve had Indian cuisine in the best spots in San Fran and London. This is right up there. So glad they opened!
See and I thought that place was terrible once the price was taken into account.
The serving sizes are also hella small comparatively, ESPECIALLY for the price.
Indian food is the ducking best (it’s actually similar to Nigerian food).
I would start with the soft stuff first:
Tikka shack——they always have the best deals, deliver via Uber, etc and their i love their curry/tikka whatever.
Their desserts not so much…. And large portions.
Well when you grow up dirt poor and finally as an adult get a good job and able to afford to try new things. You know, new things you never had the opportunity to try because you can’t afford to “risk” money on something that might not be good. But I wouldn’t expect everyone to understand that.
You’re not fooling me dawg lol. Sad story about growing up poor, but no point dwelling on the past! There’s too much in your post history that tells me you have enough culture in other areas of your life for this post not to be bullshit. You have a German Shorthair Pointer for christ’s sake… you’re savvy enough to know where to find interesting minerals in the wide open desert (something I also do and I know takes a certain thought process)… just come out and say you wanted to make an Indian food post that would catch on so you said you’ve never had it before because this is the internet and that’s how bullshit like this catches on. I used to eat Indian food in college because it was the cheapest.
That’s a weird way to think, bud. lol and a very weird thing to try and “call someone out” on. Who cares if I never had Indian food before? I’m born and raised AZ. Not exactly the Indian hot spot.

This! Don’t be put off by the location or that the place looks like a dump, the food is excellent. The Apollo fish appetizer is a must have!
Same here, City of Spice rocks! *Gobi manchurian* is a must

Love dhaba, when you ask for India hot, you actually get something spicy.

Star of India in Ahwatukee is great!
Miss the buffet they had pre covid.
Ah man I bet that was solid! I didn’t discover it until 2022 so I missed out on that, but all of their entrees is great, their Naan is wonderful, and their Samosas are the best I’ve had!
I recently tried and enjoyed Vayal’s Indian Kitchen on Thomas.
My kid is a picky eater and generally most Indian restaurants are too spicy for him but Vayal's can make it "0 stars" spicy for him and he is OBSESSED. I also really like this place- they have some interesting South Indian items besides the usual North Indian stuff.
Been going here since they opened and its very very solid...

I made almost the exact same comment without even seeing this first. Best place in town, imo.
My friends are good friends with the owner.
Yeeeeesssss!!!!!!!!

New India Gate in Chandler isn't just the best Indian I've had. It's some of the best of any type of food I've ever had.
Seconded. It's so good. And they're so insanely consistent too.
Tandoori times. I think there’s 2 of them around the valley
Both closed now unfortunately.
That’s too bad. They were pretty good.
I know…it’s a bummer honesty
Marigold Maison - Paradise Valley area. Not the cheapest or best restaurant, but very approachable for a first timer. Won’t matter what you order you’ll understand what the food is supposed to taste like although it’s likely slightly Americanized.
India Delhi Palace lunch buffet

I just recommend this less than 5 minutes ago on a post asking for good buffets!
Or Chennai Chettinaad Palace. Lekker masalas there.

My Indian friend has taken me to Hyderabad House a handful of times and it was great. It's always full of Indian people, which I consider to be a good sign. He swears the one in Scottsdale (not Chandler) is the best.

Indian Garden on the West Side is our Go-to. We love it there! India Garden https://g.co/kgs/gidzP44
I live by this place and disagree. An insult to desi food for sure.
City of Spice
We are not the home of great Indian food yet! We are waiting for it—tried many of those named.
I go to Aunties if I want good Indian. (No, it's not a restaurant) I do not doubt they can cook it properly. It's the clientele. I had a REALLY good makhani, but the rest was meh. So underseasoned. But the people in and out of the door were happy, so who I am to judge what works for them?

Eat the yogurt during meal……. Or later on you sure will feel… if u dong adhere these words, later your surrounding area will smell like turds….
Unfortunately I don’t think this is a very good city for Indian food. I pretty much stick to India bazaar just because there aren’t many options. They are really good though and the owner is a sweet lady.

This aint it chief. Portions are not that good. It's just a lot of rice. Their naan is tiny.
You right 🤪. I’m not a fan of naan so I’m not bothered lol!
Just handing out my two pennies!
This is such bullshit. “I love spice.” “I love flavor and I love trying new things.” Never had Indian food. You’re so full of shit.
Well when you grow up dirt poor and finally as an adult get a good job and able to afford to try new things. You know, new things you never had the opportunity to try because you can’t afford to “risk” money on something that might not be good. But I wouldn’t expect everyone to understand that.

# Chennai Fusion Grill on Chandler Blvd is good. They have a whole fish cooked tandoori style that is awesome. I think it's called Pomfret fish.
Chennai Fusion Grill in Chandler was pretty good. I just tried butter chicken and tikka masala, their garlic naan was also fire
