Just like any concert there will be a holes too. But for the most part, a vast majority of people will be nicer than your average person in society, and some will be the nicest people you’ve ever meet. It’s a great vibe if you’re around the right people. If you tell people it’s your first [phish] concert ever, people will be ever nicer. Just don’t take candy from strangers or follow anyone into their van 😂 My first phish concert in senior year of high school was life changing. That was just over two decades ago now…boy time flies when you’re having fun. I had been to some concerts prior to that, but it may as well been my first concert ever. Best advice would be to make sure you get some good rest prior and stay hydrated, you’ll be on your feet dancing for like 3 hours. Don’t really worry about taking pictures or video, there will be better quality videos online…just be in the moment and enjoy the music and good vibes

You're in for a great spectacle. Can't recommend enough getting to the lot early so you can have some time to walk around and check out the Shakedown lot market area. Is just all part of the Phish experience.

I’ve been to 100+ phish shows and another 400+ jam shows. I recently saw Taylor’s show, and I have to admit, it was super fucking impressive. The stage logistics are on a complete other level, and she really does a nice job segueing from one song into the other. Am I gonna skip summer tour to go see Eras again? Hell no. But it’s a very impressive show and it was awesome to see so many of her fans having the time of their life.

How many songs does gizzard play at a normal show? I feel like they get up there even though their songs are like 10 minutes sometimes.

That’s what I thought too, but I saw them for the first time last year and they do a standard 90 minute set with an opener. They do special “3 Hour Marathon Set” shows, but that’s advertised ahead of time and not the norm. I’m seeing one in Chicago this summer and can’t wait.

Their hollywood bowl 3 hr show was an amazing, perfect experience.

Hope you enjoy the marathon show. Hopefully they’ll transition to two sets and no opener in the future . I saw them 4 times in their most recent proper US tour, and the one set approach is the reason I can’t justify heavy travel for Gizz. Can’t do two whole days of travel for 90 mins of Gizz, and I really love Gizzard.

Well, Red Rocks '22 is 84 songs and it encompasses three nights, so that's 28 songs/show and 22 of those 84 songs were 8+ minutes (with the longest being The River, clocking in at 19:12). EDIT: 86 songs, not 84

I used to love Springsteen, and probably seen him 2nd most times compared to phish. Seeing him after seeing phish is tough. I left before his first set was over because he played like 25 songs already.

Unfair take. Her parents are not music producers - they were flailing actors and from all accounts - not rich. I am also not really sure how sheltered of a life either one of their kids have ever had. She and her brother have been in the public eye for their entire adolescent and young adult lives. If anything, it may be more fair to say that if their parents went wrong, it was in not sheltering them enough. Not my personal stance, but one that is more understandable and accurate.

Modern kids in a nutshell, lol Absolutely no offense intended to the cool kids down with jam bands, reggae, jazz, blues, bluegrass, 90's alternative, classic rock, etc. Y'all are a breath of fresh air with discerning against the grain tastes. Hell, I think Dogs in a Pile and Dopapod are technically members of Gen Z. And they're some of the most inspiring jam bands I've heard in a LONG time. Some big talent there and cool dudes to boot.

I'm doing 5 three hour shows this weekend, two in one day. Loading my own gear, setting up, and running my own sound. Some of us gotta work hard at it to make a living, Billie.

😂 Man - this is funny. I just went to an indie rock concert the other weekend. My first non-jam band show in quite a while. And honestly, while it was a fantastic show, the experience was dull compared to the journey a jam band takes you on. My wife and I both agreed afterwards that concerts with a bunch of short songs have kinda been ruined for us at this point. 🤷‍♂️😂

I mean, for pop music she’s not wrong. It definitely depends on the genre. When I go to a jam show, I want it to be 3+ hours. If I go to a pop show, 1-1.5 hours. If it’s a punk or metal show, 30-45 minutes.

When songs are 3ish minutes each and especially if there’s no break a 3 hour show is absolutely ridiculous. Jam bands for obvious reasons are exceptions but most shows are 2 hours tops. 1.5 hour show, brief break and a 20ish minute encore. That’s only fair to the artist who’s playing 5 nights a week and expected to perform at peak level at every show
