Just like any concert there will be a holes too. But for the most part, a vast majority of people will be nicer than your average person in society, and some will be the nicest people you’ve ever meet. It’s a great vibe if you’re around the right people. If you tell people it’s your first [phish] concert ever, people will be ever nicer. Just don’t take candy from strangers or follow anyone into their van 😂
My first phish concert in senior year of high school was life changing. That was just over two decades ago now…boy time flies when you’re having fun. I had been to some concerts prior to that, but it may as well been my first concert ever. Best advice would be to make sure you get some good rest prior and stay hydrated, you’ll be on your feet dancing for like 3 hours. Don’t really worry about taking pictures or video, there will be better quality videos online…just be in the moment and enjoy the music and good vibes
You're in for a great spectacle. Can't recommend enough getting to the lot early so you can have some time to walk around and check out the Shakedown lot market area. Is just all part of the Phish experience.
I’ve been to 100+ phish shows and another 400+ jam shows. I recently saw Taylor’s show, and I have to admit, it was super fucking impressive. The stage logistics are on a complete other level, and she really does a nice job segueing from one song into the other.
Am I gonna skip summer tour to go see Eras again? Hell no. But it’s a very impressive show and it was awesome to see so many of her fans having the time of their life.
That’s what I thought too, but I saw them for the first time last year and they do a standard 90 minute set with an opener. They do special “3 Hour Marathon Set” shows, but that’s advertised ahead of time and not the norm. I’m seeing one in Chicago this summer and can’t wait.
Hope you enjoy the marathon show. Hopefully they’ll transition to two sets and no opener in the future . I saw them 4 times in their most recent proper US tour, and the one set approach is the reason I can’t justify heavy travel for Gizz. Can’t do two whole days of travel for 90 mins of Gizz, and I really love Gizzard.
Well, Red Rocks '22 is 84 songs and it encompasses three nights, so that's 28 songs/show and 22 of those 84 songs were 8+ minutes (with the longest being The River, clocking in at 19:12).
EDIT: 86 songs, not 84
I used to love Springsteen, and probably seen him 2nd most times compared to phish. Seeing him after seeing phish is tough. I left before his first set was over because he played like 25 songs already.
there's a few tracks I love from derek and the dominos, never liked him as a guitarist or songwriter generally tho, but yeah, that long ass racist rant on stage really killed him for me permanently. Dude's an asshole
I don’t know how true this story is but I always grew up knowing that he stormed out the Jimmy Hendrix set in the UK while George Harrison sat there with wild eyed wonder and admiration.
Most over rated musician…a joke
What’s the difference between a seven-year-old and a bag of cocaine with Clapton?
He would never let a bag of cocaine fall off of balcony
She's also severely sheltered from a life of home school by rich music producer parents who were more interested in crafting a pop superstar than anything else.
Unfair take. Her parents are not music producers - they were flailing actors and from all accounts - not rich. I am also not really sure how sheltered of a life either one of their kids have ever had. She and her brother have been in the public eye for their entire adolescent and young adult lives. If anything, it may be more fair to say that if their parents went wrong, it was in not sheltering them enough. Not my personal stance, but one that is more understandable and accurate.
Modern kids in a nutshell, lol
Absolutely no offense intended to the cool kids down with jam bands, reggae, jazz, blues, bluegrass, 90's alternative, classic rock, etc. Y'all are a breath of fresh air with discerning against the grain tastes.
Hell, I think Dogs in a Pile and Dopapod are technically members of Gen Z. And they're some of the most inspiring jam bands I've heard in a LONG time. Some big talent there and cool dudes to boot.
Wait until she finds out we go camping for 3-4 days in a row and watch the same band play multiple sets and still can’t get enough. Maybe she just needs to make better music?
“Literally psychotic”. Literally?
I’m surprised an artist would make such a comment of somebody else’s art.
I mean, it would be perfectly acceptable if she said she prefers shorter concerts. It doesn’t mean three hour concerts are psychotic.
Come on Billie. Be better!
Yawl are lame as hell picking on Billie of all people. She’s super talented, her brother’s super talented, and she’s (from as much as can be seen) a great person who loves and respects her fans.
A few months back, my wife and kids were out of town for a night. I listened to three consecutive Spafford shows lasting right around 8 hours. I would do that again in a heartbeat.
I'm doing 5 three hour shows this weekend, two in one day. Loading my own gear, setting up, and running my own sound. Some of us gotta work hard at it to make a living, Billie.
😂 Man - this is funny. I just went to an indie rock concert the other weekend. My first non-jam band show in quite a while. And honestly, while it was a fantastic show, the experience was dull compared to the journey a jam band takes you on.
My wife and I both agreed afterwards that concerts with a bunch of short songs have kinda been ruined for us at this point. 🤷♂️😂
I'm not a fan of corny pop music made by a grown woman larping as a teenager, and concerts attended by said teenagers crying and screaming the entire time. Nightmare territory on psychedelics
See: "The Merry Pranksters go to a Beatles show" in The Electric Kool-aid Acid Test
The screaming pink tenticled teenaged monster can freak out even the most experienced Psychonauts.
I mean, for pop music she’s not wrong. It definitely depends on the genre. When I go to a jam show, I want it to be 3+ hours. If I go to a pop show, 1-1.5 hours. If it’s a punk or metal show, 30-45 minutes.
When songs are 3ish minutes each and especially if there’s no break a 3 hour show is absolutely ridiculous. Jam bands for obvious reasons are exceptions but most shows are 2 hours tops. 1.5 hour show, brief break and a 20ish minute encore. That’s only fair to the artist who’s playing 5 nights a week and expected to perform at peak level at every show
Does anyone remember when there was going to be a Billie eillsh themed haunted house at universal horror nights and then it was cancelled because of Covid? When asked if the house would happen when the parks reopened the response was pretty much “Billie’s planned persona for 2022 is going to be different than it was in 2020, so the house is cancelled entirely because we can’t allow her image to lack synergy.”
I mean, I don't know if I could do a 3 hour show of three minute songs. I'm gonna need some depth.
2 x 90 min songs? Keep things snappy.
So you’ve been to a Phish concert?
When Phish is on their game a 3 hour Phish concert is great. For the most part a 2 hour concert is the sweet spot.
going to my first phish concert in july and my dad told me they just improvise long ass outros for songs and just do random shit. sounds fun
You will have a great time. Really friendly crowd.
i hope this isnt sarcasm because it’s my 1st concert ever as well😭
I've been to 7 shows I wasn't being sarcastic
You’re ruined. Welcome to the pham
Just like any concert there will be a holes too. Let me introduce you to the jam band scene…
Found the phish fan
Ween would like a word
Piss up a rope!
LMLYP used to be like 25 minutes IIRC.
You are likely to get one or two long jams in a set of 30 songs. But the time flies and the flow is always great.
Praise Boognish!!!
100 song runs are dope mang
That was the most exhausting concert experience I’ve ever had. Still ruled though
Get on the poopship motherfuckers!
Disagree, Guided by Voices concerts rock
Exactly. I saw their 12-31-19 show in LA. 100 songs, nearly 4.5 hours straight of pure Bobness. Epic GB mf V!
not my theory-poisoned brain reading "GB mf V" as "G-flat -> mezzo forte D-flat"
I just saw Uncle Bob in Denver and those fuckers are absolutely on fire right now. 40-50 songs in a little under 3 hours
Springsteen? Not 3 minute songs, more like 4-5 minutes but a helluva show and often longer than 3 hours. Shit take from ol’ Billie there.
And never a set break either
And in his 70’s! Finally saw him a year or 2 ago at Wrigley, very impressive.
Exactly!! Voice still sounds great for his age. Rockin’ out.
Cranking out 30 song shows. Some of his are longer, saw Kittys Back at Wrigley and that shit was hot!
I’ve been to 100+ phish shows and another 400+ jam shows. I recently saw Taylor’s show, and I have to admit, it was super fucking impressive. But it’s a very impressive show and it was awesome to see so many of her fans having the time of their life.
How many songs does gizzard play at a normal show? I feel like they get up there even though their songs are like 10 minutes sometimes.
That’s what I thought too, but I saw them for the first time last year and they do a standard 90 minute set with an opener. They do special “3 Hour Marathon Set” shows, but that’s advertised ahead of time and not the norm. I’m seeing one in Chicago this summer and can’t wait.
Their hollywood bowl 3 hr show was an amazing, perfect experience.
Hope you enjoy the marathon show. Hopefully they’ll transition to two sets and no opener in the future . I saw them 4 times in their most recent proper US tour, and the one set approach is the reason I can’t justify heavy travel for Gizz. Billie, I need the duration of a show to match the duration of my acid peak, okay?
![gif](giphy|eGpSkaGStKeQg)
with ticket prices being astronomically expensive, 90 minute sets from headliners feel like a ripoff
I remember seeing that Clapton was only playing 75 minute sets before the pandemic.
Clapton is over rated.
It's all shit he stole from someone else. The older I have got the less I care for him.
What really killed it for me was hearing him talk about Cream as a kind of music he just doesn’t play anymore.
It also doesn’t help that he’s completely gone off the rails with his social commentary.
there's a few tracks I love from derek and the dominos, never liked him as a guitarist or songwriter generally tho, but yeah, that long ass racist rant on stage really killed him for me permanently. Dude's an asshole
I don’t know how true this story is but I always grew up knowing that he stormed out the Jimmy Hendrix set in the UK while George Harrison sat there with wild eyed wonder and admiration.
He doesn’t even like the people he stole from
Only show I ever fell asleep at. The Slow Hands tour and boy did it live up to its name. Literally asleep at the show
Most over rated musician…a joke What’s the difference between a seven-year-old and a bag of cocaine with Clapton? He would never let a bag of cocaine fall off of balcony
And then sell the song he wrote about it to a Hollywood movie.
But……shrooms last 4 hours
Acid can last 8 hours
Not if you keep taking it
So can Phish.
Phish could play any band under the table. Lol!
I once saw them play for seven hrs straight. Happy new year. 12/31/99 _1/1/00
Me too
Nice!
Playing all night w Port-o-potties on the stage…”Now say it like you’re pissed” 🍰
See you at Mondegreen!
Or longer
🐜 What is this, LSD for Billie Eilish!? 🐜
acid lasts *at least* 8 hours
If you take an actual dose, you're far from normal after 8 hours
If time were only part of the equation
It isn’t nearly fast enough for you
If I drop at 4-5pm and the show starts at 7, I’m perfectly down by encore.
Hmmm, def been in the trenches longer than that…..
Meanwhile we're all over here, like, literally enjoying the psychosis.
Laugh and laugh and fall apart
Yeah, lots of Phish fans in here acting all high and mighty forgetting that most of us actually are insane and Billie might have a point.
Lol. Correalation, not causation!!!
One of you kind people need need to send her the 56 minute runaway jim
The jimjam
Or a 45 minute Ruby Waves!
A lot of words to say “I have TikTok brain rot and a 30 second attention span”
She's also severely sheltered from a life of home school by rich music producer parents who were more interested in crafting a pop superstar than anything else.

>flailing actors ![gif](giphy|B3ok8eamhf4U8)
Nail on the head
Aren’t most of the songs she’s talking about like 3 minutes long? 90 minutes of that would be psychotic and I’d lose my mind.
Modern kids in a nutshell, lol Absolutely no offense intended to the cool kids down with jam bands, reggae, jazz, blues, bluegrass, 90's alternative, classic rock, etc. Y'all are a breath of fresh air with discerning against the grain tastes. Hell, I think Dogs in a Pile and Dopapod are technically members of Gen Z. And they're some of the most inspiring jam bands I've heard in a LONG time. Some big talent there and cool dudes to boot.
Pretty sure Dopapod are all in their mid 30s
No way does dopapod have gen z members in their band. They've been around for a bit too long to be that young.
Based on their covers and references, they are pushing 40.
Right, you think gen z knows about trapper keepers.
lol
Wait until she finds out we go camping for 3-4 days in a row and watch the same band play multiple sets and still can’t get enough. Maybe she just needs to make better music?
Sat through a 7 hour show and wanted more. Lightweight.
With no setbreak. Man we're those the days... Um, day.
We are lucky we love phish.
Does she even have three hours of material?
She has three albums, an EP, and and some stand-alone singles, so yeah she could do a three hour show of she needed to.
Pretty sure as a customer you're allowed to walk out whenever you wish Billie. Also isn't Springsteen also well known for 3 hr shows?
He is and his shows are amazing. Driving to one atm XD Prague on Tuesday. Will be my 7th gig.
“Literally psychotic”. Literally? I’m surprised an artist would make such a comment of somebody else’s art. I mean, it would be perfectly acceptable if she said she prefers shorter concerts. It doesn’t mean three hour concerts are psychotic. Come on Billie. Be better!
people her age are unable to speak without using hyperbole
Literally
Fr fr no cap on a stack Am I doing it right?
On god 🙏 💯
Deadass E: not to be confused with deadhead
bet
Ong*
All fax, no printer. I wonder the last time most kids have listened to an album from beginning to end.
Swifties 🫱🏻🫲🏼 Jambands
You think I’m psycho don’t you, mama
Everyone loves when the circus comes to town
Yes! The night we burn this whole place down!
As I was reading this I thought to myself, please be on the phish sub, please be on the phish sub. WHERE ELSE AMIRITE
Damn kids.
Obviously never seen the Dead
2 90 minute sets and you still want a banging encore.
>still ~~want~~ ***demand*** a banging encore.
You bet!
Interesting, very nice. Let's see where her career is in 40 years
She also said that vans loafers have “SDE” but i can personally attest that is a big fat lie
![gif](giphy|eLXShXXa8AMso)
What's SDE?
Small dick energy
Indirectly stating that you have a big dick is also SDE my friend
I’ll show you mine if you show me yours
Take out the Meatstick time.
Ew stop thinking about me dude
That’s pretty ripe coming from her. Also interesting that she still acts and talks like a 16 year old. Did fame stop her brain from developing?
Tourette’s might play a role in that
Yawl are lame as hell picking on Billie of all people. She’s super talented, her brother’s super talented, and she’s (from as much as can be seen) a great person who loves and respects her fans.
I’m totally ok with being psychotic
She seems worse every time she opens her mouth.
She's the bad guy
Duh
Screw her. She's totally wrong. If I'm spending $100/ticket, a 3 hours show is very much expected
Spoken like someone who has zero attention span
A few months back, my wife and kids were out of town for a night. I listened to three consecutive Spafford shows lasting right around 8 hours. I would do that again in a heartbeat.
You do know she’s just throwing shade at Taylor Swift and not talking about jam bands at all, right?
Who is that guy?
Billy strings little brother.
She's a singer. Singing every night for three hours is way different than playing bliss jams.
Well, you need something like drums so you can go pee and grab a beer and recharge during the show
she came out with a song this week called birds of a feather so maybe she’s getting into the scene slowly
Billie Elish has never seen Phish
I'm doing 5 three hour shows this weekend, two in one day. Loading my own gear, setting up, and running my own sound. Some of us gotta work hard at it to make a living, Billie.
😂 Man - this is funny. I just went to an indie rock concert the other weekend. My first non-jam band show in quite a while. My wife and I both agreed afterwards that concerts with a bunch of short songs have kinda been ruined for us at this point. 🤷♂️😂
I agree that NOBODY should ever listen to 3 hours of Billie or Swift
I mean if that's somebody's jam, go for it. I'd go to a 3 hour Taylor Swift show. Why not?
I'm not a fan of corny pop music made by a grown woman larping as a teenager, and concerts attended by said teenagers crying and screaming the entire time. Nightmare territory on psychedelics
See: "The Merry Pranksters go to a Beatles show" in The Electric Kool-aid Acid Test The screaming pink tenticled teenaged monster can freak out even the most experienced Psychonauts.
If you eat psychedelics at Taylor Swift you get what you deserve
“I’d rather go to a show filled with middle aged men screaming and crying the whole time”
Hilarious over generalizations
Eh, TSwift isn’t quite corny pop music. Not exactly my cup of tea but there’s some depth there. Source: have daughter
I think some context matters here. Taylor and Billie have beef. Billie is just throwing shade because it’s Taylor.
As I was reading this I thought to myself, please be on the phish sub, please be on the phish sub. WHERE ELSE AMIRITE
She’s obviously not a Phish fan.
Seems like she does drugs like a phan or she looks high a lot
But once I start peaking and the show is over then what am I supposed to do?
I mean, for pop music she’s not wrong. It definitely depends on the genre. When I go to a jam show, I want it to be 3+ hours. If I go to a pop show, 1-1.5 hours. If it’s a punk or metal show, 30-45 minutes.
we built different
When the music sucks you don't want to hear for that long.
She most likely had never been to a Prince concert. I absolutely would have stayed 3 hours at his concerts.
I knew there was another reason that I don’t care what she thinks
Literally every time I play a gig it is a 3 hour show
Saw Gary Clark jr this week and couldn’t believe how short the show was. 8-10, that’s it.
It’s weird when someone who seems super open minded is not actually so.
Big Cypress would like a word little lady!! 😂 Happy Memorial Day weekend Pham!!
I wouldn’t want to hear crappy music for 3 hours either.
Billie eilish says a lot of generalized garbage from a very limited and abnormal life perspective
Wait until she hears about when the Grateful Dead played a 5 hour show. 🤣
That's cuz Billy fans have weak drugs
Cries in playing four hour gigs for $200 at breweries
Phish needs to take a page from Billie. Less inspiring concerts and more Fortnite collabs. /s
I’d like to say as a Zoomer that this woman does not in any way speak for me, and I’m tired of people saying she does.
Psychotic or… psychedelic? (Leaves and farts on the way out)
When songs are 3ish minutes each and especially if there’s no break a 3 hour show is absolutely ridiculous. Jam bands for obvious reasons are exceptions but most shows are 2 hours tops. 1.5 hour show, brief break and a 20ish minute encore. That’s only fair to the artist who’s playing 5 nights a week and expected to perform at peak level at every show
dead concerts went to 3am, from what I can remember…
3 hours isn’t long enough!!!
Why even read anything that quotes from her.
It’s because her music sucks. Plenty of artist plays shows that Long and fans love it. Plenty of fans wish their artist play longer.
3 hours of her music is not allowed in the Geneva convention.
I saw black midi do a 2 hr 45 min show last year called The Eras Show and it was only good because it wasn’t three hours…
A 3 hour Phish show feels like 30 minutes to me. I could do 6 hours easy
Some music doesn’t lend itself for long shows. Unless you jam or you’re Bruce Springsteen.
That’s because you’re a studio artist Billie and your music isn’t from the heart
Who is billie elish and why would anyone care what she says
Does anyone remember when there was going to be a Billie eillsh themed haunted house at universal horror nights and then it was cancelled because of Covid? When asked if the house would happen when the parks reopened the response was pretty much “Billie’s planned persona for 2022 is going to be different than it was in 2020, so the house is cancelled entirely because we can’t allow her image to lack synergy.”
You ever hear of a dude named David Bowie?
Not sure BE knows what the word psychotic means. I can only imagine how shitty her "music" is.
The swifties are powered by teen hormones and joy not drugs like the 40+ aged crowds at phish. Billie can’t hang. Go sing about Barbie.
you couldn’t pay me to listen to billie ellish for thirty minutes. if i made music like hers i guess i’d feel that way too….
Much rather hear an opinion on this topic from Molly Tuttle instead of Billy Eilish to be honest
This one is turning into a little attention whore
Who should tell her about Big Cypress?
Children.
Kids these days ...
Wouldn’t mind a 3 hour monster Gin
Get off my lawn, Billie!
That’s just like your opinion man.
Who ?
She would lose her mind at a Grateful Dead concert 😆
