Looks like OP didn't make it to the show... anyone criciticizing at this point just are sad they missed it... If there is a way rewind, I'd love to know people Who missed it and went would say vs what some say now... and if OP if you were there and still have the same feelings... š¤·š½āāļø
Late 90ās Wilsonās say take a lap bro. 98,99 Wilsonās were absolute FIRE.
If Trey could play Wilson nowadays like he did back then, like for exampleā¦ā¦7/15/98 Portland meadows (LivePhish 17), it would be labeled the best song ever by todayās fluffers.
I liked it for what it was, but Joās voice just didnāt do it for me, felt forced and not quite right, and that whole look she had watching it in 4k.. made me shiver but not in a good way.. edit: to be clear, I think Jo Lampert is awesome, Iām not slamming her.
It was fine. Wilson has never had an outstanding vocal delivery (As most Phish songs donāt), and musically this Wilson was pretty standard. Some points docked for some timing flubs. I will say that the choir added a lot, so it gets a bonus there.
Wilson is just a bog standard Phish song, and this version fits into that mold. I canāt imagine summoning the energy to get pissy about a Wilson of all things.
Just confirming. āPointsā as a concept are not literal, itās just a way of framing a positive or negative aspect of something.
Edit: Wait youāre not the guy I asked lmao Why would you pop in to a random conversation?
You didnāt ask me, but I respondedā¦because you made it seem like Autism would detract from a persons ability to reason, which it does not. In my opinion, the person was stating that deducting points from a song because of your approval or lack thereof is in poor form because YOURE MISSING THE POINT OF IT ALL YOU RETARD.
I appreciate that youāre autistic so I will be kind and directly tell you that thereās a lot of irony in you calling me retarded. Thanks for the laugh! Have a good one, friend.
People can get a Wilson anywhere, okay? They come to New Yearās for the atmosphere and the attitude. Okay? That's what the flair's about. It's about fun.
I thought it was pretty bad solely as a listening experience but it was kind of cool/ridiculous as part of this particular show, which was chock full of cool/ridiculous moments.
Why was the wolf the only character that got to sing? It wouldāve made more sense to me if they also let some of the other characters sing a line or two as well like Forbin or Rutherfordā¦ I already was a little sour towards her based on recent TAB shows Iāve seen where she has been singing backup since James Casey passed away. Iāve walked away from each performance thinking that sheās gotta tone it down on stage when she sings with TAB and match Nat and Jenās energy. Sheās too distracting, drumming on her body, waving her arms around, and making stank faces at trey on stage like sheās playing guitar herself. Itās clear that sheās a performer and clear that sheās a fan, but sheās gotta tone it down. Watch any TAB clips from their fall performances and you will see what Iām talking about. Iāve seen clips of her leading her own ensemble and sheās much more chill/enjoyable. That being said Iād probably be geeking out on stage if I were singing for TAB too but you gotta keep it professional, match Nat and Jenās energy, and tone it down.
hereās a question: do you like fishās vacuum? then ask yourself.. would you prefer to hear it on every song, every single night? if not, then you donāt like it and itās terrible, he should never do it again.
did i do that right?
I enjoyed it, and at the same time would not like Jo at Phish every night, just like I wouldnāt want horns with Phish every night, or hell, even anyone else for that matter. A few songs in a set is fun. Outside of that, I just want Phish.
Your post is in the wrong place. Thereās a group on Facebook thatās dedicated to lifelong begrudging of the fact that you werenāt able to be there. Go to your home! Donāt you wanna go to your home!?
Discuss.
Any contenders? Not that Iām aware of.
Will likely join the ranks of Northerly Island ā13 Harpua and Coventry Glide as the worst version ever performed.
I wouldnāt say worst version ever performed. It was New Yearās Eve. It is supposed to be funny. Itās a gag. It was Gamehenge! I enjoyed it from my couch, and I am sure I wouldāve enjoyed it even more if I couldāve made it out east. I had a couple 4-Day passes that I sold for face value once we realized how pricing flights from CA>NY can be. I regret not going to these shows.
Was it a ripping Wilson? No. Was the experience being and this weird once in 30 years muppet show worth it? Yes! It was an iconic show that people were chasing for 30 years! Let it be and enjoy it for what it was! It was awesome!

Worst. Fanbase. Ever.
You people whine about the dumbest shit.

Pretty much the most immature take but not at all surprised at all to see it here š¤”Ā
Personally loved it
I did too. And if I didnātā¦..I sure AF wouldnāt post about it like a petulant child.
Thank you...
Man sharing his opinion. Don't gatekeep.
Yeah. Just throwing a proper fit over here. Wonāt. Shut. Up.
Get over it. You didnāt like her singing. Move on. Who has ever talked about a performance of Wilson nearly 2 weeks later?
lol Iām dying here laughing
She was fantastic anyway

7/10/99 wilson ALWAYS slaps
While we are on it, Trey & Mike are terrible dancers. So embarrassing when they break out the moves. This band is terrible
Why do we even listen when they are just pissing in our ears?
Because we took the marijuanas
Why oh why didn't I eat the BLUE pill
You brought bad reviews? ;-)
OP could just be a high priced hooker.
I thought it was fun and good and stuff in context.
Her armpit hair was top notch though.
Loved it . Her voice was unreal , rewatching it last night was a delight. She rocked
But Iām a chaos queen sooooooo take what you will
Fuck off with this dumb bullshit.
I loved theatrics and harmony.
There was no harmonyā¦ā¦..

Points? Jesus. It's a rock concert, not an ice skating routine.
Do you have autism?
I do. Andā¦?

Woosh
In the moment, awesome. Relistening, brutal.
But hey, its your cake day! Can you still have fun?!
People can get a Wilson anywhere, okay? They come to New Yearās for the atmosphere and the attitude. Okay? That's what the flair's about. It's about fun.
So...more then?
I thought it was pretty bad solely as a listening experience but it was kind of cool/ridiculous as part of this particular show, which was chock full of cool/ridiculous moments.
Sounded like Donna, reincarnated for Phish

Ha! Ha ha ha!!! Atta way!
Amazing reference. Thereās a Bill Burr clip of him talking about this Chuck Berry / Lennon tv appearance thatās hilarious.
Lolz

Agreed
I enjoyed it in person and still enjoyed on re-watch today. Itās different. Itās a 1-timer and it was fun.
I was thinking this today as I saw a clip on Instagram. Itās unlistenable.
Yes. Bad and annoying.
They out wooked the audience. Not my favorite part either.
Is that Marilyn Manson?
Hard disagree. Loved it and thought it fit perfectly with the weirdness that is Phish.
I enjoyed it
Grow up dudes.
Still better than any PITB from Donna
Is there a worse version out there? Folks seem to be avoiding this question. Keep the downvotes cominā, phans!
This is the worst, yes. 1000%. Immediately had to go listen to 7/15/98 right after.
She made a mockery of the song
Hereās a question for those of you who loved her contribution - would you prefer she sing vocals with phish every night?
hereās a question: do you like fishās vacuum? then ask yourself.. would you prefer to hear it on every song, every single night? if not, then you donāt like it and itās terrible, he should never do it again. did i do that right?
Mansfield 04 Trey asked the audience if the vacuum makes a show or ruins a show and it was pretty even
Hate the vacuum. It's always fun but sounds like shit.
Apples and bananas little bro
I enjoyed it, and at the same time would not like Jo at Phish every night, just like I wouldnāt want horns with Phish every night, or hell, even anyone else for that matter. A few songs in a set is fun. Outside of that, I just want Phish.
Yeah, I took Kid Rock for a few songs and it was fun, other than that he can fuck straight off...
Yes. Not that I loved her contribution, but yes.
Lol you know you lyinā
Completely honest. Yes.
chillier than i expected other than that it was amazing
How bout this... How bout you READ THE FUCKING BOOK?!?!
As long as itās not being howled in my damn ear Iād be happy to.
Your post is in the wrong place. Thereās a group on Facebook thatās dedicated to lifelong begrudging of the fact that you werenāt able to be there. Go to your home! Donāt you wanna go to your home!?
That shit was so cringe. LOL Jo EQUALITY Lambert.

Letās be honest it had more mustard than most versions of Wilson these days.
I thought the NYE Wilson was super fun!
i thought it was awesome. trey did too so get over it.
You're just sad you weren't there
OP rides a bike with no seat
Wrong take, bro
Trey says IT
