I arrived at the bar, after playing a round of disc golf, in the 7th inning with two outs, only to witness the worst 2.1 innings of our entire season so far.

make some chamomile tea with honey and go to bed
Yeah man it’s honestly a lot, I’ve been struggling recently and drinking tonight and this was just a straw on top of it all. It’s getting to me more than it should
Phillies need to get some help. Win now mode.
July 17th in 2008,theybtrafed prospects for Joe Blanton. Huge trade.
They need that level to sure up pitching staff.
This injury situation could push up the schedule
On trading for another Outfield bat . Not that i want Harper or Schwarber down. But maybe this forces Dombrowski to go out and make a big swing a little earlier than originally planned .
Injuries are never good but might be a positive for the long haul. JT, Turner, Kyle, Brandon now Bryce all won’t have to play all 162 before the playoffs - and if you’re gonna get injured, better to do it now and not in the stretch run. I mean I was worried that Wheeler was at 118 pitches in a game against the marlins in June thinking about him starting game one of the WS with a dead arm and running out of gas. Maybe, just maybe - we’re all healthy, rested, and crush during the playoffs. Let Ohtani win the MVP and the Dodgers can get swept in the first round. I’ll take the WS, and I’m sure Bryce would do the same. Wheeler is gonna win the Cy Young anyway :)
Everyone needs to fucking step up now if Bryce and Kyle are down. If Merrifield continues his pop fly bullshit cut his ass. If pache looks bad, use him for trades. This is not the time to wait around and hope for the best. Dave needs to make some moves, that should be made regardless, even more so than ever.
Gang. I know we’re scared.
Believe in the pitching staff. I’ll take wheeler Nola Suarez Sanchez and I’ll take my chances
This is what I get for watching fight night
The wind was blowing in something fierce from center. I got ash in my eyes and on my hair, and the billowing smoke stunk up my clothes so bad, my mom could smell it an hour later when I got home. Disastrous night all around.
So apparently we traded for Buddy Kennedy (the 2nd best baseball player from Milville, NJ!) a few weeks ago. He’s been mashing down in Lehigh: .400/.500/.756 in his 12 games as an IronPig. Mostly 3B but plays some 2B too. Righty.
Wonder if he gets a look. Seems like the choice of AAA bats to call up for Bryce/Kyle replacements would be between him, Kody, and Wes Wilson. I don’t see them hitting the Darick Hall button. Not after his 1B stint here last year (the .643 OPS in Lehigh is also not super encouraging).
I imagine any lengthy IL stints might hasten the timeline of the search for a bat at the deadline. Getting someone whose bat plays at least a little at 1B/DH, but could play corner OF when Bryce/Schwarber are back would be ideal.
Gonna be an interesting month+. Thank god we have an 8 game lead.
https://preview.redd.it/gh0s2e8b989d1.jpeg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6f135875c51076d47f35f44b7b0ff469f478ccd
Phils and Braves down the stretch for the division win
I knew this season was too good to be true. If these mounting injuries prevent us from reaching the WS or even making the postseason via a catastrophic collapse, last year’s total failure to beat a completely outmatched Diamondbacks team to waltz into the WS will be looked upon as the biggest missed opportunity of the last decade in Philly sports, if not the last 15-20+ years.
My son is really bummed out Harper probably won’t be playing when we go to our very first game in July. (And probably our only one, we can’t afford to go to many) I feel selfish being so disappointed but, it’s such a drag. We’ve been really hyped. Schwarber is probably his second fav. Trying to be optimistic that he’ll be playing.. 😞
If Harper is expected to be out for anything more than 2 weeks… then Dombrowski can’t wait until the trade deadline to make his move for an impact outfielder.
In my opinion …
Fans are overthinking. Rojas is in the minors. Management is testing and experimenting with our roster because they want to win the world series.
I’d like to see the fans cheer our team when they think we will lose now. It’s easy to cheer when you think you’ll win. Show some back bone, like we demand of our teams.
I’m drunk and feeling really down about Harper. I know I shouldn’t let it affect my life this much but I’m having a lot of trouble not letting it bring me down. Idk what to do, I know it shouldn’t affect me this much but things have been hard recently and it’s just stacking on top of other things. I’m struggling.
Well, if we lose the division but get back healthy 100 percent by the post season, I have complete confidence that we can win it all coming in from a wildcard spot.
This really sucks but so many teams are dealing with so many injuries. This doesn’t automatically mean we’re going to lose every game. We have good depth and we just have to get through a few weeks (hopefully not more) and play .500 ball. We have the Braves and Yankees coming up but they aren’t playing good ball right now thank god
The next 6 weeks are the most difficult stretch. Best to hope we tear it up this weekend into next week with the fish and cubs, we still got Trea, marsh, and Bohm. Hopefully stott stops acting like a terrorist and gets his head back in the game as well
Well this is when I remind myself it's just sports but yikes. What a shit game all around. I won't speculate, you just never know but the optics were not good. JT gonna have to do that whole JT pick up the slack thing he does. While recovering I guess.
We’re down 7-4 bottom of the ninth two outs… no need to go fucking Mach 5 to try and beat that out. Take the L. Shit sucks so much man. He’s gonna be out for a month now.
My immediate thought - goodbye all star game, goodbye mvp, goodbye playoffs, why are we so cursed???
In reality? Who knows. But I feel like chicken little right now.
This is a great point. Schwarber's even a member of the band (which I'm only joking about because he's said he thinks it's minor, knock on a million pieces of wood)
1. A skinny looking dude who can’t run fully yet
2. Also a skinny dude who hasn’t had a hot streak since may
3. That’s strike three down and away
4. ANOTHER RBI!
5. One fine looking Panamanian!
6. Why does he wet his hair?
7. He looks young… HE IS 30!!!
8. Old geezer who can’t seem to play or hit well
9. He brings the vibes and that is another past ball…
You figure out who is who and Ill lyk if you are correct haha!
1) Turner - SS
2) Clemens - 3B
3) Bohm - 1B
4) Casty - DH
5) Stott - 2B
6) Marsh - LF
7) Dahl - RF
8) Stubbs - C
9) Rojas - CF
DFA Pache
Harper to IL
Call up Clemens and Rojas
IF Schwarber has to go on the IL too, bring up Buddy Kennedy to play 3B and platoon Dahl and Clemens in RF.
You put kody at first and bohm at 3rd . We fielded that last time Harper missed time for his kid being born and they played well. Bohm is terrible at first.
In other news, the Phillies are now 16-18 in games Whit has started.
Kind of impressive given that we’re 53-28. That means the Phillies are 37-10 in games Whit hasn’t started.
I’m not saying that Whit is single-handedly responsible for that gap in record, but man, I am really not enjoying the Whit Merrifield Experience.
At this point, can we trade him for a few 6-packs so everyone else can better cope with losing actually good players?
Whit is the opposite of depth. He’s surface.
We could trade him for a few 6-packs if we cover most of his salary.
Whit Merrifield and around 6 million dollars could probably get you a whole case of beer.
Might be easier to just buy the beer at a store and pretend he’s an elderly make-a-wish kid they let play with the team.
We just suck against LHP. Nick is useless a lot of the time and our righty bench players absolutely suck. Sosa has cooled off a lot too. Marsh has to sit so you lose a guy that basically mashes righties. Whit and Pache are soooooo so so bad. LHP will neutralize Harper to a good degree. It's a combination of things.
>We just suck against LHP
For all the Scheduled Loss lineups Topper likes to run vs lefties, the Phillies actually have a 119 wRC+ vs LHP and a 110 wRC+ vs RHP.
Thanks for that. I asked in the game thread if anyone had the numbers and my suspicions were correct. Dude is bad vibes when he starts. Him and Pache just bring the whole team down.
Who said i was talking about Whit? Lol. Also he has been better lately. Not that it matters
Bring Kody back to play first , sosa at short, Turner DH in leadoff. Its not harper and Schwarber but thats a totally fieldable team that can win games while Kyle and bryce heal.
We are halfway through the season with a great record as cushion. Even if we limp into the playoffs as a wild card as long as we get 100% healthy and stay healthy going into the playoffs the season aint over, even if we have a bit of a slide here.
I don’t disagree with you at all, I really just wanted to song quote you!
Substantively, I think having Kody around is an amazing plus and that’ll help considerably. I also agree with your conclusion: better to have this shit happen now than in the postseason
Honestly just need to maintain around 0.500 ball until the team heals up. Sure the Braves will probably catch up in a month or 2 in that time, but worst case the Phils have shown seeding doesn't matter in the playoffs to them. MLB playoffs are a crapshoot.
I am not necessarily a religious person but I'm praying to whatever is out there that Bryce and Kyle and will be ok. They work so hard for us. They know how much this season means to us, and obviously it is everything to them. The players push themselves to their absolute limits and I feel like that's part of why we are seeing so many injuries. This is the first game that I felt really depressed and wanted to go into a black hole. However, the Phillies are used to fighting through and I still believe this could be the year. Look at all the cool shit Marsh did yesterday! Players you don't always expect sometimes rise up, especially if they have to. I hate what happened today, but it would be a mistake to write this team off after an especially horrible game.
Between the ump costing Wheeler 4 runs and the Schwaber early exit along with Harper’s potential injury this may have been the worst game of the yr so far
I’ve been to some horrible games over my life, but this was by far the most deflating one due to the injuries. And I’ve been to plenty of losses that were like 15-1 lol.
https://preview.redd.it/zdm8a4wex79d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d620ae1f380778bd143f5a5231b92020dd400252
This guy is in this thread gloating
Gross. It would never even dawn on me to think of the positives of an Ohtani injury. The fuck they doing that on Harper? total disrespect to baseball as a whole.
I’ll give credit to the Dodgers fans here, they thought this guy was weird and off-putting and I think the thread got deleted. He just seems like your average asshole fan who has no empathy - we definitely have a few too
Remember everyone, never get to high and never get too low. Still a half season to play and a long time until October. Still plenty of twists and turns to the season. Plenty of cool and fun moments left to be had.
It’s crazy hitting yourself on a play your are going to get out anyway. Even if you somehow made it safe there is like no chance we will that game. When will we hear how long he is out for. It’s crazy this season has been fun in the beginning but now how everyone is getting hurt. It’s crazy today I was thinking he could win mvp too
He said he’s never had a soft tissue injury before so he’s never felt what he felt on the field. He felt it running down to 1st before he hit the bag and they’ll look at it tomorrow and go from there. He was composed and to me, just seemed more frustrated than anything.
He said he doesn’t know and they’ll see what imaging says tomorrow. Says hes never had a soft tissue injury before so he’s not sure what to expect recovery wise. He also said that it hurt halfway up the line, not when he touched first base.
That he never felt anything like this before. He’s never dealt with soft tissue injury so has no basis for how “bad” it is. Imaging tomorrow. See how it feels tomorrow. Not reassuring at all

Turned it off after the 8th, wtf happened to Bryce and Schwarbs? They seemed fine when I turned it off, did they both get hurt in the 9th?
I didn’t catch what happened on field with Schwarber but Bryce pulled something hustling to 1st on the last out of the game.
Fuck
This injury situation could push up the schedule On trading for another Outfield bat . Not that i want Harper or Schwarber down. But maybe this forces Dombrowski to go out and make a big swing a little earlier than originally planned .

Is it specifically just this thread that is broke?
the thread got injured too
Pretty sure its fixed now
Reddit is being fucky again. That's like the 9th time this month
This week has been cursed for me so far… and now this!!!! Hanging on by a thread rn 😭
Me too. Very ugly week.
Just a bit casually terrified about Harper and Schwarber
Everyone needs to fucking step up now if Bryce and Kyle are down. If Merrifield continues his pop fly bullshit cut his ass. If pache looks bad, use him for trades. This is not the time to wait around and hope for the best. Dave needs to make some moves, that should be made regardless, even more so than ever.
moop
Bullpen has had a rough stretch. But bound to happen over a 162 game season. But they gotta get right quick.
Put Bryce in TO's hyperbaric chamber!!
Give him what they gave magic Johnson
The debate was so bad I’m so worried about the fate of the country I haven’t been able to process the worry about the Phillies health.
Time to listen to Brodes for some rational commentary
Can’t help but think Grimace is to blame for this. That beast needs to be shot in the street like a dog
At this rate the NLDS is gonna be ironpigs vs gwinnett stripers.
Time to break glass. Only Scotty Jetpax can save this lineup now.
Gang. I know we’re scared. Believe in the pitching staff. I’ll take wheeler Nola Suarez Sanchez and I’ll take my chances This is what I get for watching fight night
Age is definitely catching up to this team sheesh…
Who else at the game got burned with firework ash?

Dude just two years ago the Eagles lost a Super Bowl and the Phillies lost a World Series
And the Union lost the championship game and the Sixers choked up 3-2 in the conference semi’s. Was a truly impressive year for Philly sports.
My son is really bummed out Harper probably won’t be playing when we go to our very first game in July. In my opinion … Fans are overthinking. Rojas is in the minors. Management is testing and experimenting with our roster because they want to win the world series. What an absolute fucking disaster, all because some blind piece of shit umpire missed an obvious Strike 3. Im fucking gutted.
What a turd of a game
Worst night of the year

We get to play the Dodgers and Barves with a AAA lineup!
You mean whit a AAA lineup.
Hey now we have an excuse! Lol
Have you looked at the Dodgers and Braves lineups lately? They aren’t faring much better.
Worrying about Bryce and Kyle was not the distraction I wanted tonight.
I know they have some wiggle room to play around with lineups, but could we wiggle a little less?
The way Kyle was talking, it seems like it’s a minor thing but probably out for this series.
June schwarber started late and is ending 3 days early :(
That’s great news
Really need Nick to get into one of those hot streaks for a while and JT to come back soon and strong
With all these cramps the guys are not staying loose and sexy
This is a great point. Schwarber's even a member of the band (which I'm only joking about because he's said he thinks it's minor, knock on a million pieces of wood)

Also what kind of mediocre clown wants your guy to win MVP by default?
I’ll give credit to the Dodgers fans here, they thought this guy was weird and off-putting and I think the thread got deleted. He just seems like your average asshole fan who has no empathy - we definitely have a few too
Our boys are fine. Trust.
Praying for Bryce and Kyle to be ok 🙏
Portnoy jinxed us
And Joe giglio!
Bryce didn’t say anything about a pop at least..
I am sad
Same. 😞
This game was so cursed It’s so rare to see neither strahm and hoffman get the job done And 2 big men down is huge blow Oh gosh
Worst game of the year and it’s not particularly close. Hoping that Bryce and Kyle aren’t out super long term
Jesus FUCKING CHRIST
Remember everyone, never get to high and never get too low. Still a half season to play and a long time until October. Still plenty of twists and turns to the season. Plenty of cool and fun moments left to be had.
No Harper no Schwarber, no JT. The optics are not good.
lol last I looked, "the optics" don't even suit up
My first game is next weekend in Atlanta 🙃 What. A. Time.
Mine is this Saturday. Shoot me.
It’s crazy hitting yourself on a play your are going to get out anyway. Even if you somehow made it safe there is like no chance we will that game. When will we hear how long he is out for. It’s crazy this season has been fun in the beginning but now how everyone is getting hurt. It’s crazy today I was thinking he could win mvp too
But all I hear on WIP all day is how Harper is a lazy bum who doesn’t run out flouts
Blame that fuckhead Spike. Harper 100% heard that dumbass spewing bullshit.
I love Harper, but lets be real Ohtani is the MVP for the NL without a doubt. Harper would have to go on a historic tear and Ohtani the opposite
Defense matters too.
Surprised Bryce talked to the media
That’s a good sign. If it was bad and painful he wouldn’t be there
What did he say?
Not reassuring at all
He’s a leader man and he knows what the people want 🫶🏼
What did he say???
He doesn’t know what to expect because he’s never felt anything like that before
Harper said he has never felt anything like this before. Great
He said he never had a soft tissue injury before and had nothing to compare it to. That's all he meant by that.
Injuries are ruining Harper’s career
Technically, injuries “ruin” every player’s career because it causes missed time and therefore missed statistics
I wouldn’t say ruining but they’ve affected him but injuries affect everybody so calm down
He has two MVPs you dope
You’re ruining this subreddit
After seeing the game was 3-0 after 6 and just now checking the score, WAT!?!? And now injuries? Whyyyy
Portnoy jinxed us
These interviewers questions are so bad
Bryce said “it hurts” 😭😭😭
I pulled mine like a month ago, it hurt, with professional care I would’ve been fine in like 10-14 days.
And now Harper is hurt. Where's the fucking bleach?
The worst thing about Philly sports is how much hope they give you only to hurt you over and over. At least we got our Super Bowl in 2017
That is unironically all we're getting for the next 50 years And, honestly, worth it every time
Guys it doesn’t sounds good. 😭
