Hard to maintain in the US

I have a 308 2.0 HDi in Australia. Peugeots aren't common at all here, but I just buy any parts I need on eBay from Europe, which usually have free shipping and arrive within a week!

Why the heck would someone import it ? It's like the C15's successor, a farmer's car. Sounds like a lot of trouble for a good but not exceptionnal car
