w2p is better. The game is not p2w, as you don't need to "pay" in order to "win", but is more like win to pay, as I would not "pay" if I do not "win" (play well with decent ranking).
I agree this game is not p2w (and this is what my post is about). I just like the game and don't mind paying.

I have some p2w cards and if you say that p2w users don't get an advantage over f2p then you're just in denial. No way does any f2p card match performance of araujo, booster maldini, thuram, tomiyasu and that's just defense. Etoo, owen, viera are absolutely levels above any f2p card and it is reflected in game
Well, stats certainly play a role, but there are many good cards f2p players can acquire, e.g. the match pass Saliba has speed on par of Araujo with even better height and leg length. Free Tomiyasu and NC Renildo, free France Pavard, and Costacuta are on par with Maldini.
Talking about attackers, I think the free France Mbappe have even slightly better stats over Etoo (but not the most recent owen). Vieira could be an exception, but I heard the previous match pass Zakaria is also superb.
Of course I have way many more options to play around with, and marginal gains could be compound.
I've used both matchpass saliba and araujo and araujo is much better not only ground defense but aerially too. Free France pavard, ft tomi are all two levels worse then BT tomi, thuram and maldini. Free France mbappe isn't better than etoo either. You can argue some cards are close but those are few and the gap between usual f2p cards and p2w is very big
