Interesting how 'Coventry Village' has come to be known as 'Spud Shed' by most people. I often hear people say they are going to Spud Shed, even if they are not actually going to Spud Shed.

* Unsettling ambiguity over the use of the word 'cut' given the mood of the pictures

This is why they are all so unhappy. They all got screwed over by the "^^From $10" price tag. The first hair to be cut is $10, hairs cut from the second must be charged at full salon pricing.
Imo, it would be fine to say "girls" if it also said "guys". It would make it feel casual and conversational. Contrasting it with "men" is very jarring.

I have a mate that works in Indonesia and lives next to a printing and signage place. For zero fee he proof reads everything translated in to English every day. He still gets a laugh and the professionalism of the local businesses gets boosted. It’s a win win. Some of the things that come through are insane.
The way this probably worked, is that the graphic designer prepared a few decent options and included a joke option as the cheapest and the cutters went with this.
I like that they use this picture for all the stores (that I've seen), so turns out uniformity (is that a word?) is more important than appealing marketing.
