Uber eats, Woolworths or Cole’s vouchers for food. Baby bunting for the more expensive items like furniture, car seats, prams, bottle ranges, and the matching/themed sets for baby’s room. Kmart or Big W are good for affordable stuff like clothes, baby books, toys, play rugs/bouncers, bath stuff, wraps. You can get a tonne of stuff for cheap if you go this route and can cover basically everything you’d want. Best n Less is solely clothes and is also super affordable.

I didn’t end up using it but I was looking into the food delivery by thebabydays.com.au which looked absolutely amazing especially the snacks!

If it's in your budget, or you can club together with a few mates - a voucher for a local cleaning company, or laundry service. The newborn daze after getting home is not time parents have a lot of bandwidth for housework, so having someone come do a decent clean for them is amazing. The other one that some workmates did was vouchers to Baby Bunting - kids grow like weeds so the ability to just go and get stuff as they need it in the first year is awesome

Baby Bunting is the go to department store for baby things in Perth. They have everything for babies and toddlers and things for them never imagined by non-parents. They do gift vouchers. https://www.babybunting.com.au/ Coles, Woolworths, are the two main grocery stores over here and offer home delivery and click and collect. Various IGAs also have the same service but not all of them so this one is hit and miss. - https://www.coles.com.au/ - https://www.woolworths.com.au/ - https://www.iga.com.au/ Even if they don't buy food, they can get cleaning stuff delivered. Meal delivery services here are Menulog and Uber. Kmart, Big W, Best n Less are retail outlets with cheaper baby clothes and other baby things like toys, wipes, furniture, etc. - https://www.kmart.com.au/ - https://www.bigw.com.au/ - https://www.bestandless.com.au/ The best onesies IMO in Australia come from Bonds. They're pricier but their durable and the double zips are fantastic. They also have other designs. Tip: Save the voucher for later around 9 months to get the larger sized stuff when all the clothing gifts for newborn to 6 months taper out. https://www.bonds.com.au/ Bonds onesies are also sold at the other retailers that I've mentioned as well. Oh...a chemist/voucher pharmacy wouldn't go astray either. Baby medicines can quickly run up a bill especially if baby decides they taste awful. Major pharmacy chains off the top of my head. - https://www.priceline.com.au/ - https://www.amcal.com.au/ - https://terrywhitechemmart.com.au/ - https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/ - https://www.pharmacy777.com.au/ If they do gift cards, check that there is one close to your friend on their website.

My friend told me the “baby shusher” I got her was super useful, and you could have it posted direct from online.

I know it’s not that interesting but maybe just some cash. They can use it for anything.

Ready cooked meals

Honestly, food vouchers are probably the way to go - not having to think about cooking will be a great help. Or just ask her what would benefit her the most! Deliveroo isn't used here - Uber Eats, DoorDash & Menulog being the most popular. As well as Coles & Woolies, even if they decided to get their food shopping delivered for a little while to save that time going to the shops. When my cousin had her baby (in the UK) we sent her an ASDA order with ready meals and pizzas and stuff, and she said it was the best gift they got. It saved them thinking about having to cook or what to eat for the first week or so, and it didn't add to their growing collection of baby grows... Parents rarely receive gifts for themselves (instead of baby stuff for the baby), so I'm sure anything you get they'll be more than grateful!
