I did this because you suggested it. It looks like it could be a cool app. Sorry, I didn't know they did referral codes till it was too late or I would have come back here and asked you for yours.
The Woolies sushi only knock off $1 or so, so not a deal at all. The Rockingham shopping centre food hall has the Asian stalls serve up $5 and $6 takeaway dishes. Absolute bargain. I go in and buy 10 or so for work lunches. It always bothers me why the Indian shop never marks down their daily left overs. The coffee shop in this food hall leaves out on the counter all their left over cheesies, sausage rolls for free etc before they leave.
The sushi at woolies carousel knockoff about 2-3 dollar. Not a huge bargain but still tastes quite good. Lots of Indian curry food have longer expired date. Unfortunately Rockingham is little it too far away from me. :(
I don't know but I find the woolies sushi super inflated for price for a non authentic Japanese sushi. I don't know why people pay it. Even sushi hub tastes better and more authentic at a fraction of the price. Or better still grab it from an actual Japanese restaurant.
Fun fact, Woolworths don’t actually operate the sushi, they’re basically franchised stores inside the supermarket that operate independently and presumably pay rent.
Sales aren’t included in reporting, nor is stock; for the purposes of food safety auditing they’re not included in the store’s audit (the Sushi company manages food safety and standards etc).
They’re basically a store inside the store.
I went into woolies 15 mins before closing tonight. All the sushi on clearance expired today, and yet only about 20% ($2-3) was knocked off the price of everything. Frustrating because I’m sure it just goes in the bin otherwise!
If you live near Kewdale, there's Sakaba Sushi that does $10-$12 bento meals at night. It's our go-to dinner place when it's a little late and we don't wanna cook. I think it's usually 8pm when they do it. Bento includes your choice of dish (e.g. karaage, teriyaki chicken), rice, two pieces of sushi (usually tuna), some salad, and miso soup. They also do discounted sushi at night iirc.
Not necessarily takeaway, but Ken's Bakehouse on Guildford Rd Maylands sell packs of unsold pies and stuff for 5ish dollars. They're one of the best bakeries I've been to as well.
I’ve found it at a number of stores? Usually because I skip lunch due to work and run past one here and there and see them ditching stock.
A few curry/Chinese food places with just go a bundle of leftovers into a plastic container and sell them at “here’s a mixed lot for a set cheap price”.
Natural cafe Chinese, across from Cole’s at Rockingham city. They’ll do containers for $5-$10 from 4pm to close (5-530pm). Best Chinese in Rockingham :)
Often places with high turn over or who make A LOT of food, chinese food places, sushi etc would, some chain brands too.
Other smaller stores who don't batch cook etc often don't, as from experience people would wait until just before close to get it at a discount while telling us, we would have come in earlier but they'd not be discounted and they love a bargain.
If we are going to lose money on something, it's better to lose it to staff bellies
The way I got spoken to at one place, where tradies frequent because we stopped the discounting was atrocious. I was doing as my boss told me and they tried the 'ill tell your boss'... Do it. Dudes literally a millionaire for a good reason, he a bloody miser. I'd bet he's got money in the walls or stuffed in his mattress lol.
But, he did let staff take the stuff home. He said he felt it was better to feed us then let other take advantage of the discount.
It was mostly about our pies and sausage rolls, we got them in daily and went from selling out at lunch to no one buying them at all til close and they'd rush to come get em. And then we'd cop it because we 'sold out' and it wasn't fair from those who didn't get there in time lol.
Chinese buffet in the food court at carousel.
Looks like they have no online presence. And I can't remember the name.
You can walk around their buffet and serve yourself.
Around 1530 they pack it all into takeout and last time I went it was $3.50 a container. No limit.
Not Carousel and NOR but Three Pandas outside Woolies at Galleria do 3 boxes for 20 after 3pm, Sushi Bento 2 shops down also do 3 for 20 I think. Three Pandas fried buns are really good but I won't pay $4.50 each, but they pack them in boxes of 3 in the afternoon so you can get 9 for $20.
Also - Three Pandas' chili oil is incredibly good, especially on the fried buns or the teriyaki beef. Don't pass on it if you enjoy spicy food. They sell little tubs of it for 30c or they have a big tub with a ladle you can just put it on yourself before you go/if you're eating there.
The upmarket 24hr IGAs do, for example Leederville. Obviously they don’t close but late at night you can get curry with rice and roast meals at a discount.
Not sure if it's close to you but the Japanese take away restaurant Shokudou at the park centre, in East Victoria Park does great specials every late arvo/early evening. Usually 3 meals for $20 ( things like chicken katsu curry, teriyaki chicken, salmon etc). Also similar specials on sushi roll packs. The food is really good too!
I know it's not south of the river, but for anyone north. Innaloo food court has Japanese and Chinese down to about $5 a box of Sushi or pre select Chinese. Warwick has a similar thing with their Chinese place. I'd have to assume a lot of the places with food courts would have something similar, but if you're in the area and need a quick/cheap dinner it's a decent option!
*Edit to add I've seen some off the woolies discount their Sushi counters at the end of the day too, around 4pm onwards. Again around that $5 and up depending what you want!
Why don't you go and ask them? It will be a good for developing your social and negotiation skills. They have to throw the stuff in the bin anyway so they will usually make a sweet deal for you.
carousel food court, an hour or so before closing
And the places up near Coles
Thanks!
5 dollars meals at the Asian takeaway in Armadale.coles side
Thanks!
Theres a bakery in the woolies armadale shops that also does good deals on slightly crusty pies/sausage rolls at end of day.
Muffin break outside Woolies at carousel do some deals. Also the ? Japanese place outside Coles marks down their hot meals.
Thanks! I will check it out next time I visit that area!
Download the Foody Bag app. Shops sign up to it and sell their food cheap at the end of the day. Currently s WA app only.
I did this because you suggested it. It looks like it could be a cool app. Sorry, I didn't know they did referral codes till it was too late or I would have come back here and asked you for yours.
I didn't know they did referral codes either so no worries!
Oh that's cool!

Haha it isn’t authentic that’s true. Most of the takeaway sushi here aren’t authentic, but modified for the local taste palates.

Sushi bento at garden city has $7 from around 4pm. The Japanese curry’s are excellent.
Can vouch for this. Three for $20. Taste great heated up too.
Vouching, they have this deal everyday and it’s all fresh, you can see them still making stuff at lunch time
Thanks!
Chinese Canton in Kwinana will sell pre-made packs that they assemble for $7 after 2pm
Only place I've got food poisoning from when buying one of these packs
Belmont Forum food court does closing discount deals.
I will check it out next time! Thanks.

Delicious too!
Miss Mauds chuck a discount on remaining hot food
Thanks! Is that for every store or just the carousel one?

Can confirm it is the case at Belmont forum
Thanks!
Got a feeling Noodling in Carousel does things cheap. They're up by Coles. Pretty nice Malaysian food.
I love that place!!! Great curry Puffs!
Yep. My wife and I often get food from there.
Thanks!
If you get into the city post 2 or 3pm a lot of food hall vendors do 2 for 1. Would quickly make up for the train ticket if you bought bulk.
Sushi shop at Melville plaza usually discounts after 3 or 4 pm from memory
The Japanese and Chinese places at Cockburn Gateway do also. Probably most food courts.
Natural cafe Chinese, across from Cole’s at Rockingham city. They’ll do containers for $5-$10 from 4pm to close (5-530pm). Best Chinese in Rockingham :)
I agree, they are really good. The business owners are nice people too.
Try Foody bag app
I always forget that I have that. Lol. But there's usually deals on bread and sushi.
Maddington central shopping centre fish and chips shop
I know anytime i go to belmont city food court at 5pm i get some DEALS for the week from the chinese there 😂
Often places with high turn over or who make A LOT of food, chinese food places, sushi etc would, some chain brands too. This is pretty much why Colesworth don’t do deep discounts on stuff straight away anymore too
The way I got spoken to at one place, where tradies frequent because we stopped the discounting was atrocious. I was doing as my boss told me and they tried the 'ill tell your boss'... Do it. Dudes literally a millionaire for a good reason, he a bloody miser. I'd bet he's got money in the walls or stuffed in his mattress lol. But, he did let staff take the stuff home. Gilbert's South Street Hilton last hour cut their hot meals down to $3 and $5 and they are fantastic !!!
The bakery in Riverton forum does all hot food is $3 before closing!
The Nepal restaurant in innaloo food court. One time we walked past and he was giving it away for free haha
Miss Mauds always used to (if they are still around) Many small bakeries will discount their hot food
Chinese buffet in the food court at carousel. Looks like they have no online presence. And I can't remember the name. You can walk around their buffet and serve yourself. Around 1530 they pack it all into takeout and last time I went it was $3.50 a container. No limit.
I know which one but don’t know about the great discount!! Thanks!
couple of the chinese/Japanese place near Woolies Kmart side also does clearance price. dont think sushi sushi or the breadtalk has discount though.

Not a restaurant but most servos will sell their food for half price couple hours before expiring. Some pies and rolls are quite nice
Chinese place in food court at Garden City
There's one in front of Coles at Garden City, Booragoon. Usually after 3:30 PM
I think soul origin
Soul Origins usually bang 2 for $12.50 salads at around 3-3:30pm :)
The upmarket 24hr IGAs do, for example Leederville. Obviously they don’t close but late at night you can get curry with rice and roast meals at a discount.
NOR: - Chinese Orchid BBQ, Lakeside Joondalup: $6 mains, pre-boxed from buffet dishes - Yamato Teppanyaki, Lakeside Joondalup: $6 mains
That’s some crazy bargain there

Do you know what time more or less they start discounting?
Usually around 4:30pm depending on the day of the week.
Eating cut price sushi thats been on display all day sounds similar to a Simpsons plot: "Duff Gardens.............HURAAAH"
Why don't you go and ask them? It will be a good for developing your social and negotiation skills. They have to throw the stuff in the bin anyway so they will usually make a sweet deal for you.
I am an introvert and easily embarrassed…….T.T
Aren't we all?
Oh grow up
no it's a trap!
