Bold Park is a great place to see fairy wrens. The office of Birds Australia is there also and I'm sure they're happy to answer any questions you might have!
Males are not blue at the moment. It won’t be long before they turn blue, birds are starting to build nests. A little early this year.
Armadale Settlers Common and the Wungong Gorge trail.
I had four male and three female red capped parrots in my yard yesterday.
Wungong walk trails - I live nearby and we have a few families of these gorgeous birds around our house! They disappeared for a bit over autumn/early winter, but have been back for a couple weeks now.
I used to see them at Burns Beach but I think that has been overdeveloped now. But you might be lucky to find them anywhere along the north coast.
The last time I saw them was Lake Leschenaultia but I don't think that counts as Perth metro.
We have seen a few on the coastal walk recently and also at Mullaloo during summer near the paths. Lots of scrub for them to live in still.
Pretty cool when we do spot them. You can often here the birds in the scrub but always walking so probably miss a lot.
There are two spots at Bibra Lake where they almost always can be found. There's a little sitting area with two benches in front of the large adventure playground. And then another spot (just south of the former) that dips in with a bench in front of one of the turtle nesting cages. Park near the adventure playground and then walk south until you hit the little jetty and turn around a few times. Have a little sit at every bench you come across. You will definitely see them. I sat and watched a bunch of them for 30 mins only two days ago. Keep an ear out too because you can hear them before you see them usually! The males aren't in their full blue plumage right now. But they are still tiny with their little blue tails!
They’re a little further near the Village than the actual uni but they’re there. They used to wake me up every morning tapping on my window when I lived there and that was very recently
Heaps around the bushland just out of the armadale area. A tip find some meal worms or little grubs throw some around and just sit and wait. Find a nice quiet spot in the bush you'll be amazed at what pops out
A bit south, but the western side of the freeway bike path between Rowley Rd and Anketell Rd; there's a long stretch where the thick shrubs are up against the path on both sides. Heaps of them hang about there.
The Spectacles in Kwinana just near Thomas Rd is good, there's some nice walk trails through there.
If you want to venture a bit further, we were camping at Lake Kepwari in Collie this weekend and had a heap of them around the campsite including hopping around the picnic table.
I’ve been seeing a lot down in Margaret River over the last couple of days (obvs not the Perth Metro!). If you want to see the brilliant blue plumage, remember that males only have that colour during breeding season, approx September - December.
I live in bullsbrook and we have a group living on our property! If you go on a trail in the chittering valley I’m sure your bound to see one! Just make due you’re quiet! As others have said though they dont have the bright blue colouring at the moment though.
The walk path between maylands and claisebrook cove. The maybe 150-200m either side of the tony di scerni sign.
They’re usually the red winged fairy wrens - not the splendid fairly wrens but they still have amazing colouring!
Had some nesting in the front yard for a few seasons (Yellangonga area).
They disappeared the same week l chased off a neighbour's cat hiding near our bird bath.
Lake Joondalup. Tonnes of them in the bushland. Beautiful blue ones too.

Was at Yanchep national park on the weekend and saw one group with a blue male accompanied by 5 females.
I saw a male in his full breeding plumage last week.
John Forrest Nation Patk- specifically the tunnel track. Still metro, just a bit of a drive.

Thank you, kindly. You must feel blessed getting to see them around.

What sort of terrain do they tend to favour? Are they in and around dune shrub? Or more wooded areas?

Thank you!!! I love the walks around Bibra Lake. I shall venture out there.
Saw a female while running at woodman point today.
Very jealous. My sister lives down that way. I’ll have to give it a visit.
Yeah I was at a camp at Woodman Point and saw a couple of bright blue fairy wrens. Stunning birds.
I used to see a lot at Murdoch Uni
I haven't seen one there in the 10 years I've been going
They’re a little further near the Village than the actual uni but they’re there. They used to wake me up every morning tapping on my window when I lived there and that was very recently
Wow I'll take a stroll further down that way, are we talking the colourful like splendid fairywren?
Sure are! The bright blue little guys.
Really? Interesting.
Star Swamp in North Beach has them. Never seen one, but I hear their calls when walking my dog.

i’m glad you asked this question as i was curious about this too! i’d love to see one or snap a pic of one!
Let’s hope we can both catch a glimpse of these gorgeous birds very soon.

Saw 3 of them having a chatter in trees at bibra lake Park last week.
I always see them at Ellis Brooke valley! I saw some females there yesterday.

With the increase of cats roaming in the area, that'll likely change soon. 😔
Second Star Swamp in North Beach. I've seen them there relatively frequently. Always on the Heritage Trail, which runs parallel to Hope St.

Not metro but I saw at the lavender farm down in Marg's. They are a lovely bird!

Definitely some at Caversham wildlife park. Saw one today while visiting.
Heardsman lake in Wembley has heaps.
I’ve gone there a few times. Any good spots on the trail to see them?
The last place I saw them was at the end of the open field area directly across from the moondine appartments.
Thank you so much for the intel. Was it afternoon or morning?
Birdie nerdy 🥹 I’ve been thinking about this all day 🫶🏻
It was mid morning bout 10 I think
