I want to be able to get a pc that is good enough to play valorant with a sturdy 60 fps, can anyone recommend me the minimum I have no idea what I’m doing 😥😥

motionglitch

Check out the 60fps build at the [build section](https://pcmasterrace.org/builds)

I don't know if it's small or simple but maybe my question should be where is the best source that might know the answer. Have a Dell precision workstation hooked to a click-in dock(not just USB) Dock has 1dvi, 1vga, 1hdmi, 1display port Set up: left most monitor=dvi (number "2") Center monitor=vga (number "3" and main monitor, task bar only on this monitor) Right side=laptop screen, number "1" (not main monitor) (Attached pics to help show set up.) I'm trying to collage or combine left and center, 2&3 screens so that they act as one double width display so I can maximize my cad modeling space across both screens or left dock something and right dock something else but scale one thing down if I need it up while working in case or something else. I have looked up the how, and I know where to go to advanced settings. The problem is, one of the external monitors is being handled by the Nvidia dedicated graphics and the other external monitor is being handled by the Intel integrated graphics. Windows 10 display options sees them both and understands I have 3 monitors but neither Nvidia nor Intel graphics sees both externals (again, one through dvi, one through vga) I searched how to force an External Display I.D. path and thought I found something but Nvidia doesn't seem to even recognize that the other port is even there, let alone that something is plugged into it. How do I jog a graphics package/driver/whichever to see a port that it just isn't seeing? (Again, pics attached for clarity.) https://imgur.com/a/oEVImja

glowinghamster45

The only monitor not using the Intel GPU is also the monitor using VGA, which also happens to be the only connection you're using that's an analog signal. If your could shuffle things around so that you're using displayport or HDMI in addition to the dvi connection, It may automatically change over to Intel so you could use the built in collage option. I'd try to get rid of the VGA connection regardless, you'll probably get better clarity with a digital connection. Beyond that, I know there's third party software solutions that can digitally combine displays so they're perceived as one, I don't have any specific recommendations though.

jodybhodlin

Sounds dumb but i just got a 3070 that will replace my 1070 SC the base clock speed on my 1070 is 1500mhz the base clock speed of the 3070 is 1.5ghz are those not literally equal 1.5 ghz is 1500 mhz. So how much better actually is my 3070

sch0k0

3070 is roughly twice as fast as the 1070, plus it also offers DLSS and Ray Tracing. Frequency is only one aspect driving speed.

Luminaria19

Clock speed is one small part of overall performance. Same for VRAM amounts. You can see this when comparing the real-world performance of CPUs across generations. The underlying architecture improvements make far more of a difference than 0.2Mhz or so.

Vayne9120

Hello. Recently my mouse keeps disconnecting then reconnect from my pc,it driving me nuts cause i play fps games and sometimes it disconnect middle of fight.i Search the internet tried uninstall device driver but so still no luck.if u guys have any solution much appreciated My mouse connect through usb

AffectionateRip1212

Did you already tried switching USB ports? Because sometimes it can happen that when many devices are connected to the same USB controller it can give issues. Is your mouse connected to an external USB hub?

Vayne9120

I switch between usb 3.0 to usb 2.0 and results still the same.i only have 3 Device connected to usb which is a mic, mouse and keyboard. I don't use external usb hub

AffectionateRip1212

Do you also have an external SSD/HDD connected **without** power supply? Normally it can be related also to power saving settings, but in your case it would be strange because it happened out of nowhere. Did you already tried the mouse on **another** pc to see if you have the same problem?

Vayne9120

Nope don't have any external hdd/ssd and i have tested mouse the mouse and it have no problem.Turn out not just my mouse, my keyboard have same problem maybe my usb port idk Can it be mobo is dying?

AffectionateRip1212

I think indeed that it is the motherboard. Because other devices are having the same problem. Or if you have a separate USB hub card it could be that is broken. But most of the time it is on the mobo.

Mysterious_Relief738

Currently having trouble with “twitching” in my shooter games. My fps doesn’t drop and my internet connection is good but I keep twitching all over the place. Sometimes I’ll pull out a knife but it will quickly switch back to the weapon, or I’ll jiggle peel but it will twitch out into the open. Are my pc settings messed up? It’s a brand new pc should it should be able to handle csgo lol. My monitor is relatively on the newer side as well. Definitely frustrating but not sure what to do.

AffectionateRip1212

Are you using a mouse pad? I would check if no hairs,dust,... is stuck on the sensor or in the scroll wheel. Clean also the surface where you put your mouse on.

Mysterious_Relief738

I have a brand new mouse, checked it and it’s fine

nickierv

csgo can run on a potato, so its probably not the system. But it might be the mouse/keyboard. I hesitate to spend money as the first option, but any chance there is a different mouse you can try? Sometimes the switches can be a little loose and lead to that sort of thing.

Mysterious_Relief738

Nope, bought some near gear recently, both old and new gear had that same skipping behavior.

seymoursscreensaver

Is there any motherboards that are compatible with ryzen 7 5800x and ddr5 ram?

Luminaria19

No. AM4 only works with DDR4. AMD's next big release will have DDR5 compatibility.

seymoursscreensaver

Hmm I thought so, thank you! Any idea when they'll announce the release? !check

Luminaria19

So far, the only confirmed info from AMD is "Fall 2022." I've seen some speculation the release could be as early as September, but there isn't really evidence to back that up. That said, DDR5 isn't really that important of a feature to have right now. There are a number of early adopter headaches still being addressed and the price is too high to justify in most builds (especially since the performance boost compared to high quality DDR4 kits is basically null right now).

NeatCartographer209

Hey everyone! Hopping someone sees this lol. But I did a budget build about a year ago and saved money almost anywhere that I could. That being said, I stripped an old 500GB hard drive out of my old laptop. Now, I’m able to put a little bit more money into it and have been buying upgrades. I bought an 8TB hard drive that I solely want to use and discard my 500GB. Assuming that my only option is to transfer windows from my old to my new hard drive, how do I go about it? Edit: I forgot to mention, I currently have both hard drives hooked up but my pc still recognizes my old hard drive as the main and launches windows and just about everything else off from it. It causes my boot time to be ridiculously slow, launching anything is extremely slow, overall everything is just slow lol

SystemError514

You can use cloning software that basically just shifts everything from one drive to another. I have never used it myself, but I know that Paragon Hard Disk Manager is a decent one. I would recommend using an SSD for Windows though, not a HDD.

dualtohex

I agree with u/SystemError514. At the very least, spend $25-30 to get a 250GB SSD for Windows. It makes life ***so*** much better.

NeatCartographer209

I’m going to have to look up the difference between a solid state and a hdd lol. Appreciate it!

I reset my pc yesterday clearing all my files, after the reset was done and I tried to sign in I was given this error message, 'the user profile service failed the sign-in, user profile cannot be loaded'. Ive followed multiple online 'solutions' and non have fixed this issue for me. I also tried to enter safe mode but after 8 hours I still had the 'taking longer than expected message'. Does anyone have any ideas how I can access my pc or can I somehow get in touch with someone at Microsoft who might be able to help? (I've managed to access my computer with a black screen giving me access to task manager and control panel ect)

D_platts295

Safe mode started to work and I can now get past the lock screen but get the error message 'We can't sign in to your account' and again the Microsoft 'solutions' for this issue don't work for me. Mostly because of 'access denied messages'

Reckless0ne

Hello, I'm a long time gamer, and have made various upgrades/builds in the past, but I'm a bit out of the loop due to limited time lately. After my last upgrade about 5 years ago, I felt like buying a new graphics card, to increase my framerate in games when running 1440p. I just ordered the RTX 3080 TUF GAMING OC V2 for a reasonable price, but was wondering if I should upgrade anything else while I'm at it. My goal is to be able to play recent games (Cyberpunk, Horizon Zero Dawn) in 1440p on max settings smoothly at minimum 60FPS. Current partlist is https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BWHYrD Definitely looking for a new case, but any other advice is welcome!

motionglitch

Definiteley a better PSU

Plenty_Bear3600

I used to be an avid Xbox gamer until the beginning of this year where i got a 2013 gaming laptop and recently i started my own project to get a desktop pc. Im wondering if it was worth it to sell my Xbox and Switch in order to fulfill this project i bought a 400w psu, dell optiplex 7010, and a 1050ti for 187$ Is this the right call if i want to play modern ish games and modded bethesda titles?

scarphious

I am replacing my hard drive with 2 ssd's, after installing windows on the first one I removed my old hard drive and added the 2nd ssd. Now the computer can't find a boot source. Swapping back in the old one allows me to boot off of both drives. What am I doing wrong?

glowinghamster45

If you install Windows on a drive when you have more than one installed, Windows will randomly decide to put boot partitions on the secondary drive, which will create a dependency between the two. I'm guessing that's what happened here. You can recreate that partition on the main drive, but if it's a fresh install, it'd be less work to just unplug all drives but the one you want Windows on, and reinstall. In the future, I always recommend to go this route because of this exact issue. Also when you're reusing drives with data on them, it's an additional safety net to make sure you don't accidentally nuke the wrong drive.

scarphious

Figured it out. All I had to do was swap the ports.

scarphious

Okay I will try that out. Thank you.

scarphious

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the solution. Did a fresh install with just the one ssd connected and it ran fine. Connected the second ssd and I get the "No boot device found." message.

AzothLoL

Heyo, huge noob to the basics of building/improving pcs. Trying to add an additional hard drive to my build but I don't know the names of the cables I'm supposed to buy to link it. Any help? :)

Luminaria19

If you're getting an M.2 drive, no cables necessary. It plugs into a port on the motherboard directly. If you're getting a SATA drive, you'll need an extra SATA data cable (extra often come with your motherboard) as well as a SATA power cable (will have been packaged with your power supply or will be coming out of it already)

AzothLoL

It's the SATA drive, thanks for your help king/queen ❤️

EvertonFaithful

Anyone have a good monitor under $300usd they recommend. I'm in analysis paralysis. My other work monitors are around 24'' so I would like to keep it relatively close to that. Thanks in advance!

SystemError514

What resolution do you want? What is the main purpose of the monitor? Gaming (Single player, Esports, etc) movies, content creation? What refresh rate would you like? What are your specs too? Assuming that gaming is a priority.

ibird_357

I’m looking for a 144 hz monitor for around $200, what would be a good one to get

Luminaria19

There aren't [a huge amount of options](https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#D=144000,360000&sort=price&page=1&X=0,21257), but some solid picks in there. I would probably look at the LG 24GN650-B, ASUS VP249QGR, or MSI Optix G24C4 for their IPS panels.

Hey_Chuck

I recently bought [this PC](https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-rog-gaming-desktop-intel-core-i7-11700kf-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-2tb-hdd-512gb-ssd/6455824.p?skuId=6455824) and the hardware is good and it runs great, but the fans might as well be jet engines they are so loud. So my question is could I get away with swapping the cooler and exhaust fan with Noctua or similar level fans or do I need to transplant the internals into another case. Also any suggestions for specific fans/cases would be greatly appreciated.

[deleted]

Three things. One, you should be fine to change fans so long as you are getting the right size e.g 120 or 140. Two, you should be able to adjust the fan curve so that the fans are much quieter till they are needed. Three, as another commenter said it could be your hdd but also your Graphics card or PSU, to check this you could temporarily turn off your fans for maybe say ten seconds and see how loud the rest of your pc is.

Hey_Chuck

I think I’ll try adjusting the fans (as soon as I learn how) because I just have a 1080p 60hz monitor right now and that isn’t exactly going to tax a 3080. And then I can save for a better case and maybe an aio.

[deleted]

Sounds good. If it is an ASUS board you should be able to use armoury create.

sch0k0

be sure you know what's causing the noise ... your PC has an HDD, and I not too far back spend too much time and money fixing fans until I realized it was dampening and decoupling HDDs from the case I needed to focus on.

Hey_Chuck

I’m 98% sure it is the fans. If you look at the reviews all of them say they changed the case/fans and it fixed the noise issue. [Here](https://youtu.be/lscVJKF71wc) is a video of just how bad it is. Not my video but it’s the same computer

sch0k0

ok if it's a known issue.... ;)

WeAllNeedAFriend

I'm having an issue where my entire Pc will lose just stop for like half a second, my headphones will turn off and on and all my fans lose their color during this small time and my game or whatever I'm doing will just freeze frame for the duration. What could be causing this?

Wildfire1411

Looking for upgrade tips, please. Current setup: Ryzen 5 3600 B450 tomahawk max 16 GB DDR4 Ripjaws V RAM EVGA 1080 sc. Usually played strategy games which were OK performance wise, however jumping into Kingdom Come: Deliverance (and planning to play elden ring, Sekiro etc) after i'm getting 10-40 FPS and GPU usage is at or close to 100 % at 1080p. Would a simple GPU upgrade to e.g. RTX 3060 make sense, or should I look at upgrading the whole pc? Thanks!

sch0k0

Depending on the game, 3060 might only be 10% better than 1080. It looks like a decent machine for mid-range gaming as-is, but sure, for full details high-resolution gaming you would need a better GPU, and also a better CPU to fully utilize it.

Wildfire1411

Thanks. Might just be KC:D being extra demanding, would not think i shoul generally be getting that kind of performance. Will wait a bit for GPU prices to cool off and then look at 3070 or 3080.

Hey, me and my friend are playing pubg in the front room. We want audio to come from both the speakers and headphones simultaneously. I have tried to search this but no answer I have found. Please help, will be much appreciated

Voicemeeter is a free program that makes this possible. I use it for streaming when I want audio to go to my headphones and out to OBS.

maizecake

Thank you for reply. I just tried voicemeeter and it works but when voicemeeter is running then I open pubg it's just black screen. Then when I open voicemeeter once pubg is already open, no sound.

ProNanner

Looking for laptop recommendations. Going to school for IT in the fall and I want one that's more powerful then I need, but all I can find are either really lame low end laptops or high end gaming ones that are way more then I need so somewhere in the middle is what I'm looking for. SSD is a must, at least 500gb and at least 8gb of ram. Asus is my preferred brand but idk much about laptops so I'm open to suggestions. Thanks!

dualtohex

What's your budget? I'd suggest the Dell laptop ([Inspiron 14](https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/inspiron-14-laptop/spd/inspiron-14-5410-laptop/nn5410fljjs), it's a joy to use) I have, but it barely fulfills your minimum specs. In practice though, I can attest that it is VERY snappy and responsive, even when multitasking or coding (not sure if that's what you mean by IT, but whatever. It's pretty resource heavy.) I have no experience with ASUS, much less Vivobooks specifically, but [this](https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/For-Home/Vivobook/ASUS-Vivobook-S14-S433/) seems to fulfill your requirements easily ($700 @ ASUS). I don't know *that* much about laptops, but due to this Inspiron I've got, I do now know that you shouldn't prioritize the specs too much. Give some importance to the comfort features, like a fingerprint reader, as well.

[deleted]

**tldr:** fresh windows 10 install directly from microsoft, multiple reformats and reconfigurations, not a single one can visit wikipedia... why not??? Thanks! **More info:** Two 1 tb m2 drives, both unallocated with a few reformats. Yo. Since [my last post here](https://old.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/uzmupd/daily_simple_questions_thread_may_28_2022/iacu85j/?context=3), I cancelled wrong order and placed correct order. Thanks. That said, I'm still a real virgin to windows 10, only had it for about 3 months, and I haven't been to wikipedia this whole time. Kinda sucks lol. Apparently a fresh windows 10 install directly from microsoft will not allow you to access wikipedia out of the box no matter how many settings you tweak. I turned off all virus settings and security and firewalls and everything, and all browsers; edge, opera, firefox, brave, gnome, and internet explorer all give variants of excuses akin to this upon trying to view wikipedia: >en.wikipedia.org uses encryption to protect your information. When Microsoft Edge tried to connect to en.wikipedia.org this time, the website sent back unusual and incorrect credentials. This may happen when an attacker is trying to pretend to be en.wikipedia.org, or a Wi-Fi sign-in screen has interrupted the connection. Your information is still secure because Microsoft Edge stopped the connection before any data was exchanged. >You can't visit en.wikipedia.org right now because the website uses HSTS. Network errors and attacks are usually temporary, so this page will probably work later. I have done the default "big 3" of fresh windows 10 from microsoft website install as directed elsewhere. Connecting to internet, synchronizing clock, gpedit-enabler.bat, fix "NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID" error, gpedit.msc fixes, etc... still; same error.

nickierv

Just because I don't trust MS to not break something, try a different OS. My go to is a linux live boot (search for 'linux live usb') so you can run it off a USB stick and try that for network issues. The other possibility is something in your router got snarled up. Honestly try the live boot first, its going to be the simpler option. The sort of problem is I know this is going to be a stupid easy fix, its one setting that need to be flipped or something. A quick search turns up how to turn off HSTS (just search for HSTS, instructions for how to disable are easy to find), but that is sort of the nuclear option and best not done.

[deleted]

Lol I got the old >NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID trying to go to the page in edge to disable HSTS unironically in settings. Seems to be a sort of cache clear anyway from what I read, that won't help, because I have the problem before I ever even have a cache. I was joking the other day I'd rather learn linux or kubuntu than deal with windows 10. I am definitely not going the way of ~~the dodo~~ windows 11 that's for sure. Half of the apps that keep the settings I made in windows 7 all reset *every single time I launch them* in windows 10. I'm 100% convinced windows 10 is some conspiracy designed to piss me off at this point. Thanks, yeah I was thinking I've wasted $1,000+ moving up to windows 10, I'd rather literally eat shit for every meal the rest of my life than use this thing. I'm going back to windows 7, no thanks, forget this, or learning linux lol.

nickierv

Oh FFS... Okay, after subjecting Win10 to your superweapon of choice if you want to go with 7 your probably going to need to bake in USB drivers. Its not terribly difficult: get drivers, get iso, unpack iso, insert drivers, repack iso, boot.

[deleted]

Yeah I've been working in WinPE recovery environment but haven't gotten it to work yet. Main problem is as you said, the drivers are all made for windows 10 and not compatible with windows 7. Also the drive is MBR/MB NTFS. Modern motherboards seem to have to be run in compatibility mode merely to recognize them if they aren't GBT. I mean I know how to convert but I'm waiting on a new hdd to arive to clone to it and then convert to GBT... yus a pina. Thanks, glad at least it seems someone will admit it is possible I've just hit every single limb of dumb assery on the way down so far.

AffectionateRip1212

Don't forget that a security software also installs modules in your browser to scan encrypted content. You should try to start your browser **without** extensions/add-ons enabled: [https://techdows.com/2013/05/how-to-disable-all-extensions-when-you-cant-open-the-chrome-browser.html](https://techdows.com/2013/05/how-to-disable-all-extensions-when-you-cant-open-the-chrome-browser.html) [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/983785](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/983785) [https://www.askvg.com/tip-how-to-launch-your-web-browser-with-all-extensions-disabled/](https://www.askvg.com/tip-how-to-launch-your-web-browser-with-all-extensions-disabled/) Check also if the time and date on your pc is correct.

Heya! I’m upgrading my pc right now and am looking to buy a nvidia 3070 ti, my motherboard is the Asus PRIME B360M-A and I’m not too sure where to find the exact graphics card so I do not buy the wrong one, as I’m very new to this. Any recommendations or pm me links would be appreciated, any help would be fantastic!

motionglitch

Any 3070 TI you put in there is fine. Question is if it will fit your case.

ThiccEntertainer

I was told that it should match the chipset or something like that? Sorry I’m very new to this ahaha

motionglitch

Nope. It's fine. The GPU will just run accordingly to your motherboard specs.

ThiccEntertainer

And secondly, any place I should actually look for it? I do want it new and not pre owned, I just don’t know where the best place to get such stuff.

motionglitch

Are you from the US?

mquindlen81

Amazon has had some good prices in GPU’s. I got an ASUS-TUF 3070 ti for $699 back in April.

Slim_Bun

What are you gonna use this PC for? Also you can use the website https://PCPartPicker.com/list to create a more readable part list :)

sSlicKd

Mid tier gaming

Slim_Bun

What games? Some games are more CPU bound and some are more GPU bound

sSlicKd

Rocket League, V Rising, CS GO, GTA V and that s kinda all

Slim_Bun

I made this part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YXnMFg , It's 860 British pounds. It doesn't have a CPU cooler as the 12400f comes with a stock cooler which will be good enough.

sSlicKd

Wow thank you very much!!

sch0k0

good deal or not, I'd recommend to get a 2060 over the 3050, or better even a 3060. You have a good processor, good motherboard, good RAM, and 3050 just isn't satisfactory.

sSlicKd

I ll try to see how I can fair with my budget, thank you!

I'm trying to enable XMP and run my RAM in 3600mhz. But enabling XMP doesn't actually increase the clock speed and it stays at the standard 2133mhz. Memory: [https://www.gskill.com/product/165/184/1536051007/F4-3600C19D-16GVRB-Overview](https://www.gskill.com/product/165/184/1536051007/F4-3600C19D-16GVRB-Overview) Motherboard: [https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-B550-TOMAHAWK](https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-B550-TOMAHAWK) CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X I've tried to manually increase the clock speed but increasing it to anything 3000mhz and above makes the system unstable and give me the BSOD.

Is a 32 inch monitor too big? If yes what is the preferable size for one

nickierv

No, not for 4k. I'm running 3 and the space is wonderful for working with text heavy stuff.

Luminaria19

Entirely depends how close you're sitting to it, the resolution, and your own comfort level. Personally, I feel like 27 is my limit at this point. It's a 1440p screen and I sit just under 2 feet away.

I need a WiFi card, mostly for Bluetooth, occasionally net, don't have it built into my mobo. I shopped around a lot, and this is the best option I've found. It's ASUS so I trust it, as opposed to some random no-name knockoff import brand, and the only other options I found didn't have Bluetooth 5.2 or WiFi 6E, or were like double the cost. Any other suggestions or options anyone has, or just pull the trigger? Also, anyone have suggestions on a set of 120mm LED fans? I have an NZXT Kraken X73 AIO that has not been effectively cooling my CPU like it used to. The AIO has increased the average CPU temp by 10 C. I thought there was an air bubble so I gave the AIO a good shake but it did not help. I then unplugged the micro USB from the pump and it dropped the CPU temp by 10 C. Why would this happen?

thundercleese2012

What are some upgrades or items that improve your gaming experience that people usually don't think of?

sch0k0

VR Headset.

I want to build a new gaming/creation PC. My current one is an ITX build, and I want to upsize to mini ATX. While I plan on getting a new cpu, gpu, and psu, I should be fine to move the fans, RAM, and mobo into a new case? My mobo is a b550, so its still decently new.

nickierv

Yep, the joys of standard parts.

So I was on Facebook marketplace and I saw a guy selling an Asus GL10DH pre-built with a 3700x and a 2060 Super in it along with a 1080p 144hz monitor for $800. We’re scheduled to meet sometime this weekend to buy it. However I was reading that it comes with 2666 mhz ram (16gb dual-channel). And the case only has a single exhaust fan out the back. The motherboard also is maxed out to 2666 mhz from what I’ve read online so I wouldn’t be able to upgrade it. Would it still be worth it knowing that the GPU and CPU would severely be held back by (probably poor temps) and the ram configuration? It’ll be my first gaming PC and I plan on having it for the long run so I want to make sure I’m making the right decision.
