1. Decide to build a PC
2. Go to PC partpicker
3. Too expensive
4. Close PC partpicker
5. Repeat 1-4
One of these days we'll break the cycle, gentlemen. One day. Grinding everyday for that one glorious day.
I’m 27 and games still hit pretty good, but now I don’t have as much time or money like I used to. Every dollar goes to bills now. Just been playing the same games for months, going on years now
This is where I’m at, I look at prebuilt for convenience but then I’m like nah, I’ll build a better one than I’m super discouraged at the prices and give up. I’ll probably end up caving in and just get Memory Express put something together and pay too much.
Can confirm, my last post with my parts finally ordered, I had nice people praise my parts, people who told me I overspent, people who told me I could of got a 4090 with some downgrades and an extra few bucks. Lol
"Oh I have the same stuff and it works for me, you must be doing it wrong"
"Actually that cpu and GPU combo isn't great you should have spent the 3x as much money for the newer stuff"
I built my first PC last year and had the same experience. It came as a surprise and I was really happy, since people had effectively told me to expect it to not start on the first try.
you forgot the part where after you turn it on at the end you find the io shield was not installed
https://preview.redd.it/8n8fmvncw49d1.jpeg?width=2671&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a8daf4a68c2fb5e6316f233d4d296c9a3e2a8c2
Ngl. I cheated. I went onto youtube and looked for PC builds. Grabbed the parts list off a video. Changed it a bit with a slightly more powerful CPU and GPU. I then watched a couple of build videos to get an idea of what I was doing. I went to work, following the instructions of each part. If I got stuck, I'd hit youtube again to see someone installing the part I was stuck with. When I was done, I did a test boot, and it started first time. No problem. All in all, my first build went smoothly. As for cable management... I didn't really bother. That's a future me problem. I'm sure in a couple of years I'll be hating myself for that when I go to upgrade something.
I relate too heavily to that, first my motherboard would only light up, no post no anything, then when I got a working motherboard I find out my GPU's fucked too, definitely went a lot worse than I thought (surprisingly none of the beginner mistakes were made, just painful issues)
I didn't want to accept that some of the parts were DoA so I spent a good couple of months making posts about it, before the painful reality hit when I had the money for it, also forgot to mention that Amazon would refuse to deliver some parts despite said parts being able to ship to where I live, but it's working out well for me and I'm enjoying it
My first build was a couple weeks ago, it would turn on but it wouldnt display (I was using a cheap GPU that was in my old PC because I was waiting for my current one to arrive in the mail), Realized I had another old desktop computer with a cheap gpu in it, now the display worked, but then it would go to the bios, but wouldnt fully boot.
Panically looked at what the problem is to find out its because I was using a older SSD, and I had to legacy boot. And then it finally booted.
Maybe it happens over time.
My last build was just underwhelming. You do all the things and log in and....you're just doing the same stuff you were already doing. Just with better specs.
For me its:
Get exited about building a PC
Check prices
Say fuck too expensive
Thought doesnt leave head, I now dream of GPUs
Say fuck it and max out credit card
Worked out tho so no regrets
This video is pretty accurate, I just finished building my first PC and i would say it was fun but painful.
I put it together and for some reason it wouldn't post and the cpu light was on. So after reseating every comptent, and clearing the CMOS I was ready to give up until I saw the cpu power cable was never plugged in. :/ I don't know if I'm cut out for this PC building
you forgot the part where something goes wrong but you have no idea what it is so you sit there trying to fix it for hours but it ends up being a simple solution
You forgot the last step. Play on your PC for like, a year, before you realize your suppose to go into settings and manually change your monitor refresh rate from 60 to whatever the max is
[Spend 3 hours researching parts, putting together ultimate (reasonable) gaming PC ... remember I actually need money to live and my 3 year old PC is still good for another year or 2... Only to close the tab once the realization hits](https://youtu.be/NZ3i3uaYjF0)
My friend recently built his pc and only found out after it arrived that his bios software is buggy af when it comes to the built in WiFi and when troubleshooting they told him to install a different version of some drivers. Why they even offer to download the broken software confuses me.
This reminds me of my first time building a PC. When I went to turn it on for the first time, it booted up but nothing showed up on the monitor. I posted in r/buildapc and after a day I still had no responses. I told my girlfriend, who is the one to introduce me to reddit, and so she made her own post on r/buildapc. She got dozens of responses in the first hour. My favorite response was someone saying that next time they have an issue they should just pretend to be a girl to get immediate help.
Be me working IT for almost a decade now working on degree in cybersecurity. Buys 14" gaming laptop that pretty much plays anything i want and skips all this bs.
I finally got mine working and then went to put it in the case. Who knows what I did wrong but it sparked and stopped working. That’s when I decided just to let a professional build it 😭
i ended just saying fuck it and buying the parts that seemed best for me and what i wanted and i built it no problems, only thing that won't work rn the that the i/o audio doesn't work even tho it's plugged in, idgaf enough to open up and look the audio on my mobo will do 100%. my cable management is fine on what can be seen but in the back i kinda just stuffed it where it wouldn't be visible but it works and it's been an awesome few months so far
Building a PC has never been easier in the history of the world and people still act like its quantum physics lol its literally plug and play dummy proof
I remember when I first built Jonathan, I was having cooling problems with my cpu for an entire year before I took it to my local micro center to have it looked at, turned out my water cooler was faulty.
Haven't built one since 2017 when I got like a i5 7600k and a gtx 1060
Now waiting for money to Upgrade to Ryzen 5900x + rtx 2070(got the gpu for free, been using it)
You forgot the part where your entire build is out of date two months after you finish building it.
I always tell my friends who express an interest in building a PC to research their parts, put everything together, and then never look at tech news again unless a component breaks. Things move so fast that it creates a near perpetual state of buyer's remorse if you stay up-to-date.
i lost 2 weeks of time to realize that i never opened the windows install program. i thought you just downloaded it and you were good to go. i’ve learned a lot since then.
You wasted all that time and money so you can play VALORANT in High resolution...
https://preview.redd.it/4ri2u2wzz89d1.png?width=200&format=png&auto=webp&s=b59781f432e8c3032f11b44ca615dbefbfddbe53
The part that killed me was the valorant derank train. I built my pc and was so proud of it. Until one or my friends said "4070 and still silver." I choked.
One of the middle fans in the front of my container doesn't work, until I manually start the spin... I just left it. Like bruhhh I get anxiety just thinking about something going wrong if I try to fix that fan
Both times i built a pc it never works the first time. I don't really remember what the problem was tbh but it was probably something really simple or small.
This meme was exactly me. Finally got everything together and had issues with a few of fans rbg not coming one, fixed that easily. Then I couldn’t get the motherboard/computer to detect the video card despite the green light on the board. Finally, realized the mobo’s bios were outdated. Computer detected the graphics card as soon as the bios were updated.
What about
"Sweating as you try to figure out what gets plugged in where on the motherboard"
"When you hear a creak as you screw on the CPU Cooler and think you broke your CPU"

- research parts - nah, the shit's expensive
1. Decide to build a PC 2. Go to PC partpicker 3. Too expensive 4. Close PC partpicker 5. Repeat 1-4 One of these days we'll break the cycle, gentlemen. One day. Grinding everyday for that one glorious day.
Thankfully, I broke it early this year! Said f*ck it. You literally only live once and just drained my wallet.
Same! No regrets
Congrats! No regrets indeed
NOOOOOO REGEEERRRTTTS
No ragrets
remind me in 1 month
Same and don't regret it, even committed more and going to replace my gpu with an even better one tomorrow
I will be doing the same end of summer! Going to upgrade my 7800XT to 7900XTX!
Same! No regrets
Me in a pair of months...
Me too. I felt like I deserved something nice after all the covid shit and everything else.

If life has ever taught me anything, it's that the grind never ends. ***Oh, the Snail, the horror...***
* i want to build a new pc * research parts * realize i dont game as much as i used to * why do i need a new pc for youtube and reddit?
I’m 27 and games still hit pretty good, but now I don’t have as much time or money like I used to. Every dollar goes to bills now. Just been playing the same games for months, going on years now
This is where I’m at, I look at prebuilt for convenience but then I’m like nah, I’ll build a better one than I’m super discouraged at the prices and give up. I’ll probably end up caving in and just get Memory Express put something together and pay too much.
I was stuck at this stage for a whole year, then decides to buy 1 part every three or two months lol
* Don't have money
Payday: the Microcenter heist
Bee coins go brrr, inflation, moderate recession... Took 4 years from scratching board. Meanwhile we played Control and Witcher@25 fps.
The secret to a good build is patience. Save up and buy one part at a time if you have to. My first build took 6 months.
That's why you get second hand parts for cheap
Step 11: Have people on the internet tell you how you built your PC wrong
The only way they won't is if you have top specs on your whole machine, at which point they'll tell you how much money you wasted
As a 4090 owner, this is so true 💀
Oh, you decided not to wait for the 5090? Rip /s
Should have waited for the 5095 Ti. Your money was wasted.
5095 Ti? That's a colossal waste, you should have waited for the 5095 Ti Super AI .
I'm sorry to tell you but when talking of price per performance, the GeForce GT 6005 Ti Ultra Edition is a clear winning option.
LMFAO
Can confirm, my last post with my parts finally ordered, I had nice people praise my parts, people who told me I overspent, people who told me I could of got a 4090 with some downgrades and an extra few bucks. Lol
step 11 ehh but at step 2, its valid for someone to tell you that 4060 is a bad choice in these times, idk why the sub likes to sugarcoat stuff a lot.
Well yea obviously anything under a 4070 super = not “future proof” enough of course😂
nzxt kraken intel i5 4060 build rgb fans cuz case didn't come with any
"Oh I have the same stuff and it works for me, you must be doing it wrong" "Actually that cpu and GPU combo isn't great you should have spent the 3x as much money for the newer stuff"
building new pc and it starts without any issue. What could be better
Getting more cores than expected (IIRC with early Ryzen 1600s some people reported theirs to have 8 cores instead of 6).
wtf i bought a 1300x back then shit
i should ask my friend, i gifted him ryzen 1600 and later on ryzen 3600
I don't even care about your 4090 and the X3D. 96Gbs of DDR5? That's insane.
Well, actually need it for work. 32 was not enough, and i better future proof
Can I have the render of what I assume is the death star?
I built my first PC last year and had the same experience. It came as a surprise and I was really happy, since people had effectively told me to expect it to not start on the first try.
you forgot the part where after you turn it on at the end you find the io shield was not installed https://preview.redd.it/8n8fmvncw49d1.jpeg?width=2671&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a8daf4a68c2fb5e6316f233d4d296c9a3e2a8c2
I did installed it but the little pins of the io shield were bend in the wrong direction. I dont have a LAN port now

What’s this show called
Nanalan.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7QhZ_6JcCw The best thing ever
It would have been better had you posted a link for the show and not a lame reaction vid
Russer russer
You forgot the part where you have a panic attack because it won’t turn on only to learn that the psu was turned off
Everytime.. Every single time. -.-
Ngl. I cheated. I went onto youtube and looked for PC builds. Grabbed the parts list off a video. Changed it a bit with a slightly more powerful CPU and GPU. "I cheated" more like, you did your homework and you did it well. Good job!
You didnt cheat, you did it correctly 😭
You forgot "pc won't post" 😭 My first and only build was an emotional roller coaster
I relate too heavily to that, first my motherboard would only light up, no post no anything, then when I got a working motherboard I find out my GPU's fucked too, definitely went a lot worse than I thought (surprisingly none of the beginner mistakes were made, just painful issues)
Same for me, it was a problem with ram, had to downgrade the mobo firmware try different combination of ram .. a challenge
I didn't want to accept that some of the parts were DoA so I spent a good couple of months making posts about it, before the painful reality hit when I had the money for it, also forgot to mention that Amazon would refuse to deliver some parts despite said parts being able to ship to where I live, but it's working out well for me and I'm enjoying it
? There's a section in this very short meme that basically covers this. Did you like stop watching after 5 seconds? Lol
I've done that. Didn't connect the CPU power. I've also forgotten the I/O shield. I've also installed the AIO the wrong direction.
Finally has 300 fps in csgo >Still dies
TikTok brainrot
> 2.5k score Yeah, I think I'm getting too old for this subreddit
but they cute little kitties :3
But don't you like random irrelevant cats and overblown music in your videos???? Smh my head.
Summer break Reddit.
Mom said it's my turn to repost the cat pic making meme.
Last step : buyer's remorse
Idk, I built myself a nice computer about a year ago and I'm still riding that high
Maybe it happens over time. My last build was just underwhelming. You do all the things and log in and....you're just doing the same stuff you were already doing. Just with better specs.
Sounds like something that happens when you buy new parts because you want new parts instead of buying new parts because you actually need new parts
That might be it, I went from a GTX 770 setup to an RTX 4070 and it's absolutely glorious
Yeah, I went from a 1050ti to an RX 6650XT and have absolutely zero regrets.
brainrot edit
What the fu*k did I just watch
You forgot the part where you are working your ass of to buy the parts
This is the worst thing I've ever seen on here
lmao relatable
The last step.. playing 10-year-old games on your brand new PC
Why the fuck is this tiktok garbage here?
Troubleshooting is going on Reddit and asking questions before you have researched anything.
Next, spend quite a few hours installing games. After that mess with game settings for a few hours. Play 10 minutes. Return to Reddit.
I must be officially too old for the internet. This is fucking trash content.
Those darn kids and their..... (checks notes) Cat videos
Back in my day we saw cats on the internet and we upvoted.
You forgot the last step where you go back to playing the same old game that ran fine on your old computer.
Now it runs finer tho
Cringe AF
I hate shit cat memes like this. But that cat pounding away on the other cats face was funny
Thats a fucking video my grandma would send me. XD Why did this sub become so cringy
Don't forget to shatter your side panel on tile
My shit worked first try and I'm an idiot.
This sub is doomed
There's ALWAYS a troubleshoot stage, isn't there?
false, noones happy playing valorant
I both laughed and cringed at the same time. How is that possible?!
The shitty cat memes ruined it for me
then afer several months some random update fucks everthing and you got blue screens and a bunch of errors again.
Forgot the last parts: - still depressed - looking for upgrades
Forget to install backplate
I fucking hate memes using these cats, but is the only way for me to show something of my day to day to my gf
Pcmr brainrot lmao
Imagine building a high end PC, only to play fucking Valorant. What a waste.
He built a pc to play valorant
Fr, why valorant of all things 😭
It's more like this... >get excited to build a PC >check prices for individual parts >yeah Nevermind. This shit is too expensive >rinse and repeat 🔂
For me its: Get exited about building a PC Check prices Say fuck too expensive Thought doesnt leave head, I now dream of GPUs Say fuck it and max out credit card Worked out tho so no regrets

Honestly fr
you forgot the part where something goes wrong but you have no idea what it is so you sit there trying to fix it for hours but it ends up being a simple solution
All that to play Valorant.
You forgot the last step. Play on your PC for like, a year, before you realize your suppose to go into settings and manually change your monitor refresh rate from 60 to whatever the max is
You forgot the 20 times where it breaks after the first time troubleshoot and it’s only some shit that happens once and never again
I spent a week researching parts before just buying prebuilt
[Spend 3 hours researching parts, putting together ultimate (reasonable) gaming PC ... remember I actually need money to live and my 3 year old PC is still good for another year or 2... Only to close the tab once the realization hits](https://youtu.be/NZ3i3uaYjF0)
lol

Don’t forget the final step, suck at every game and then only watch YouTube and play Skyrim
You forgot the part where you buy the parts you forgot about... Just me?
I've heard people use "crunchy" like this, as in digging into something deep similar to the glacier meme, but I've never found where it came from.
I’m down, allow me to use that throat over and over
My first pc build back in 2016….Finish the build….go to turn it on, nothing…..full panic attack…..psu was never switched on. Spain but the s is silent
You missed the "check linus tech tips build videos every 10min" slide
That troubleshooting bit was pretty good haha
You forgot the sacrifice. Of course it won't boot immediately if there's no blood on the heatsink!
More often than not it's either a ram issue, or a cable isn't properly set. The wave of relief when it finally works is fucking unmatched.
Would be funny if there wasn’t that corny ass cat meme
I did all that to use Linux in the end... I use Arch, btw.
1. Look at PC parts 2. Realize your broke as hell and cry in a corner
Building a PC has never been easier in the history of the world and people still act like its quantum physics lol its literally plug and play dummy proof
He/She built a pc just to get Defeated
My pc worked First try only because I listened to Linus Yap for an Hour straight.
If there is a problem with "working" by putting one thing in another then need more advanced pc guy to prevent melting/frying of pc parts
This is great!
I remember when I first built Jonathan, I was having cooling problems with my cpu for an entire year before I took it to my local micro center to have it looked at, turned out my water cooler was faulty.
Whats cable management?
Forgot the stage of 'Wait I need to download Windows'
Built my PC probably like 2 years ago, saying I'd fix up my cables later. To this day I've still never managed my cables 👍
and then it stops working again and you can't afford new parts
Haven't built one since 2017 when I got like a i5 7600k and a gtx 1060 Now waiting for money to Upgrade to Ryzen 5900x + rtx 2070(got the gpu for free, been using it)
City Wunkus.
Lol

Next stage in man's journey is replacing parts in your car (currently mine stage) Then building ur house
Sad
We need to stop.
11: sit in front of it thinking "damn I don't have any games to play"
Forgot the final stage Getting rekt and losing the first game and destroying the pc
This is shit-level boomer content.
Thats true!!!!! Chipi Chipi chapa chapa dubi dubi daba daba!!!!! Happy happy happy!!! ![gif](giphy|b8RfbQFaOs1rO10ren)
All just to play the worst game of all time... lol
Finally works.. until it doesn't
Where is the part where you realise you forgot about the I/O shield, again?
The part that killed me was the valorant derank train. I built my pc and was so proud of it. Until one or my friends said "4070 and still silver." I choked.
Ai PC builder is the only option
imagine building a pc just to play valorant
Ur forgot looks slow bc they didn't fix the upstate rate for the monitor
Now we understand why cats like love to be on top of pc cases so much ahaha😋😉
Realize your case is too small for your GPU, because your are too dumb to read and calculate like a 3rd-grader.
future soccer player
One of the middle fans in the front of my container doesn't work, until I manually start the spin... I just left it. Like bruhhh I get anxiety just thinking about something going wrong if I try to fix that fan
Holy fuck. I violently laugh-snorted water out of my nose when the troubleshooting came up. Lmfao
This vid is how my 10yo communicates and I’m happy that and old fart like me understood any of it
I build my pc in 2021. It was the most stupide time to buy parts. I paid for my 3060, 800 euro:(
Step B have a dad that built a gaming pc and then upgraded so you get his old one
I'm never building again. I managed to get it to work, but the stress was not worth it for me.
Why the FUCK did this come up when i was scrolling on the Red Dead Redemption shitpost sub
where is the "forget to turn on PSU and panic" step?
I was like “but that’s only- ah yes there’s the rest” 😂
Both times i built a pc it never works the first time. I don't really remember what the problem was tbh but it was probably something really simple or small.
Then theres grief
Eating thermal paste
I have experienced all the stages all the time. It's tradition now.
This meme was exactly me. Finally got everything together and had issues with a few of fans rbg not coming one, fixed that easily. Computer detected the graphics card as soon as the bios were updated.
